According to recent WHO data, the life expectancy in Nigeria is, unfortunately, the lowest in all of West Africa. According to the data, the average life expectancy is around 54.5 years of age, with men living an average of 53.7 years and women living an average of 55.4 years.

The easiest way to notice the sleeplessness of Lagosians is during their commute in commercial vehicles in the mornings.

Majority of them would be founding sleeping.

this stuff as happened to me before...in my own case...their was two spaces left in the bus but they said it was reserved for some people...I pleaded with the guys at the park to let me in I even offered to pay more still they rejected and that was the last bus at the park...I was disappointed and I had to go to another park...but on getting to abaji we saw a bus burning seriously...to my surprise if was the very bus I wasn't allowed to enter....I was shook that day

The rainy season is just about kicking off.

There, the authorities are making concerted efforts to clear up blocked drainage systems. ahead of the rainy season.

Blocked drainage systems in cities can lead to flooding, a situation where water is diverted from the channels into roads, homes, etc.

Sadly, in Lagos state, a place prone to flooding, and also a place that is supremely notorious for blocked drainage systems, there has been absolutely nothing done to rid the drainage systems of refuse.

Nigerian billionaire politician, Ned Nwoko, has finally spoken on his reported secret marriage to Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels.

The Capital reported that couple had an introduction ceremony last weekend in Asaba, the Delta State capital where Regina Daniels family home is.

Hon. Ned Nwoko, a former member of the House of Representatives, is 59 while Regina Daniels is reportedly 18 years old, and is said to be his 6th wife.

Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, Director-General of the Agency told newsmen during the destruction exercise that 189 trucks conveyed the unsafe and unwholesome drugs — the highest ever recorded by NAFDAC — to the destruction venue.

A doctor has warned that it is detrimental to clean the ears with cotton buds.

Doctor Nonso, a Twitter user, said using cotton buds to clean the ears only pushes the wax closer to the eardrums and can cause problems in the future.

He added that the ear cleans itself when you chew or yawn by slowly pushing the wax to the outer layer of the ear.

He went on to say that ear wax isn't dirt that needs to be removed but is actually useful to humans.

According to him, ear wax "actually keeps your ear free from insects and dirt for instance! Also, because it is acidic, it prevents fungi from growing in your ear So removing your wax does more harm than good."

The Taraba State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Wednesday resumed indefinite industrial action to press home its demands.

Igbere TV recalls that the union had embarked on a strike in 2018 but suspended it when the Taraba government promised to meet its demands, which included the payment of earned academic allowances from 2014 till date.

The demand also included the provision of required infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning in the university.

However, findings by Igbere TV revealed that the Taraba State Government is yet to fulfill its promise.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Wednesday by Samuel Shikaa, the Taraba Varsity ASUU Chairman, he said that the lecturers would remain at home until their demands are met.

Atando Agbu, the local ASUU Secretary, also disclosed to Igbere TV that the statement was issued shortly after the Emergency Executive Council Meeting of ASUU with National Officials in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.

Agbu said that the law establishing the university, which specified adequate funding for the institution, had been abandoned by the state government.

“Law no 4 of 2008 specified that five per cent of the state allocation, five per cent of the Local Government allocation and two per cent of all contracts will be used in funding the university, but all of these have been neglected.

“If you go round the university, you will discover that a part from the library and senate building which are still under construction, every other buildings you will see are constructed and furnished by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund. “If you refer to this university as TET Fund University, you will not be wrong because the few infrastructures here are provided by the fund,” added.

A Lagos woman identified as Esther Irawo, has been accused of killing her friend to reportedly hide her adulterous life after  she was caught. The 38-year-old mother of two had accused the deceased identified as Femi, of trying to ruin her home by informing her husband of seeing her in a hotel with another man. The 72-year-old father of late Femi who disclosed that he heard Femi shouting from his room that Irawo was trying to strangulate him, added that nobody cared to inquire what was going on because of the level of their friendship. The deceased’s mother, Rose Afolabi on her own part, said Femi never discussed the issue with Irawo’s husband, adding that somebody else might have done that.

The Lagos woman who allegedly killed her friend to hide her adulterous life, also tried killing her 31-year-old husband, Ezra Joseph, by poisoning his food. It was gathered that after the man refused to eat, she became confrontational, before pouring away the food and dropped their baby on his lap as she fled the house.Her husband who confirmed her alleged adulterous life, said  Irawo thought Femi was the one who reported her extramarital affairs to him. However according to him, apart from few instances when he got to know by himself, other people in the area also told him about her adulterous life.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Elkana Bala, who confirmed the incident, said the police were on the trail of the runaway Irawo. “We have a report of a woman, who allegedly hired thugs to kill her landlord’s son, Femi Afolabi, for telling her husband that he saw her with a man in a hotel. The woman has been on the run since that day. The police are investigating the matter and are on the trail of the woman,” Elkana added.

Rising Ghanaian rapper Mawuli Younggod has reportedly disappeared immediately a car he was driving got involved in an accident.

Mawuli Younggod, one of rapper Medikal’s protege, is said to have been in the company of friends when the accident happened in Accra on Sunday.

According to a Celebritiesbuzz.com report, an eyewitness said the accident occurred shortly after Mawuli and his crew - made up of his manager and a friend, had finished buying fuel from a filling station.

They were said to be over speeding and in an attempt to overtake a water tanker on the road, their car veered off the road and somersaulted twice.

The group was then taken to the Ridge Hospital for treatment, however, it was noted by the rescue team that Mawuli, who was driving the car himself, was nowhere to be found.

The rapper who was driving the car was said to have disappeared from the accident scene.
