Remembering Great Ife? Ok,I remember seeing this written somewhere. MOZ:The hall of motherless babies. MOREMI:The hall of babyless mothers. No offence intended o,just recalling what I saw. |
Good old days.Wish cud Time travel. Fragle Rocks rocked. Those philosophical, little muppets("You don't know how to laugh until you cry" ,always constructing things.First there wasthe puppet version, then the cartoon(animated version). Terra Hawks was a bit scary-and boring,to me. Do you also remember: Bertha, the lovely machine. Long Distance Clara. And going back a bit in Time: Shmoo,Speedy Racer,Stone Man,Wonder Dog,Atom Ant,Captain Cave Man,The Globe Trotters, Jabber Jaw, |
The Internet was designed to be a robust, fault-tolerant system such that if a part is destroyed it does not affect the functioning of the whole. |

Good idea - if the almighty Government should be run like a business venture. my2cents:That's just the summary. The OP doesn't seem to be interested in the idea anyway. |
my2cents, Obong,I've been out of cybertown for sometime, just seeing your post. NEPA or is it PHCN is such a pain in the neck of everybody. That's a point, may be the State should also look into supplying generators along with the PC's at least for school use.The laptops I believe have some alternative means of power, could be a sort of advanced educational toys for the kids. |

Hello all,I heard a song on wazobia fm,i think on new year day,i didnt get the details as per name of singer, song and album title-if it was mentioned at all -its a local gospel song in pidgin(which i fell in love with),something like", Jesus na my healer, my doctor, na im dey make my body dey protect-ed." A Programmer is someone who writes programs for computers to execute.A program is a set of instructions fed to the computer to carry out for the purpose of achieving some desired end. A Web Developer writes programs specifically for the Web,i.e someone who develops Web applications. I think CCNA is a certification in Networking-not much related to programming.Networking is mainly hardware while programming is about software. There are some Microsoft programming certifications you can find out about. Hope that helps a little. ![]() |
The script should come with a detailed "How to install" page. If not,you need to give more details on the script and what you are trying to achieve so you can be helped. |
Return it back safely now because you don`t look prepared. ok.Good advice. You can go and get it back when you are ready with a good business plan, lest you run into serious debt 'wahala'. |
If I got you right,I think what you want is a query that will pull out the first few words of a particular field(joketext) from the database and then you provide the reader/user a "read more" link that will pull out the full story. If that is the case, you'll use the LEFT function on the field(e.g joketext) you want to limit in the SELECT query. Something like this: "SELECT joke_id,joke_title,LEFT(joke_text,75) FROM JOKES WHERE date > '2007-12-01'"; This will select among other things the first(leftmost) 75 characters of joke_text from the JOKES table satisfying the stated date condition. Hope that helps. ![]() |
Straight to the point and lovely. But there seems to be some typos; archieve, archivment(s).Or is that the way architects/structural engineers spell it. .lol |
tundewoods:Is that all you need? One could just type that out here-and that would solve the problems. smartsoft:Let's wait and see if someone's got the pdf-that would be easier to transfer. But if u really want the hard copy-you can order from their site,sitepoint.com. Dont know if you can get in Nigeria.Mine was bought from a bookshop in London. |
Got the hard copy. |
Of course. If you are going into web programming you need to have some knowledge of web design:html,css-even if you are not going to be doing the design yourself and regardless of the scripting language you choose to use. What scripting language? Since you have been involved in desktop software programming, you are probably familiar with Microsoft's suite of development tools,so migrating to ASP.NET should be a cinch. It gives you a wide range of languages to choose from;C++,VB,C# etc. However PHP is highly recommended,it is the most popular scripting language on the WEB,it is widely and freely available and has a lot of suppport. |
What other reason if not for mass advertisement. It doesnt have to be free, if you know of companies that sell such databases you can get in touch.I do receive adverts on my cell phones too. |
Who knows where one can get a database of active GSM numbers. |
It's not advisable to use online ftp clients. They can be painfully slow and have been known to skip some files. |
How do you get web design/development jobs. Is it through writing proposals or contacts. Contacts seems to be the only way. Nobody seems to read proposals. If they do, the response is always almost zero. Or what do you think? |
Very nice thread. |
Try a Google search. lol |
I use PHP mostly.I can achieve whatever i want to achieve with it. It's easy to pick up and use,and seems to enjoy a lot of support and "goodwill"- being an open source platform and not a commercial product. It's like the lingua franca of web development which every developer should know. |
i av a couple of P2's in good working condition, complete with monitors and input devices to dispose at a give away price.anyone interested can call 08033504042 |
Noelite has said it all. They are both hot fields. It now depends on what you do with whichever you choose. I'd advise you go for the one you are more passionate about. Look deep into your heart. |
@opensource OK.I need, can you just supply the download URL. Thanks |
@MT (and others who can be of help). Im hearing about the WAMP Cd for the first time here. Ive been looking for something like that. I used to test run my codes directly on the server, I downloaded the WINLAMP package but there was download error. How can I get a copy of the WAMP Cd? Thanks. |
You need to look outside your college walls(like you've started doing). They wont teach you all you need to know if anything at all in your college, its a good stating point though. You need to personally develop yourself thru books(they may have some in your college library), search for relevant and good tutorials on the Internet on your areas of interest, and PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE.Practice they say make perfect. |
