PoliticsAs Sen. Ovie Omo-agege Gives The Highest Traditional Regard To President Buhari by bamideleafolabi(op): 2:22pm On Jun 13, 2019
ON A PERSONAL NOTE:
As DSP Omo-Agege gives his highest traditional greetings to President Buhari

*A man with a true sense of justice and fairness will always rise against injustice and impunity. *

These were the natural instincts and guiding principles that led Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege (also a seasoned lawyer) to humbly question the arrogance of the 8th Senate leadership to violate the constitution of the land for selfish ambitions, including trying to illegally amend the constitution in a last minute attempt to reorder the sequence of the last general elections to allow them, and state governors hold elections before the president’s. This, and only this is what led to the persecution of Omo-Agege by Saraki’s draconian iron rod.

Like former senate leader, Ndume, Omo-Agege was summarily and illegally suspended for 180 days (6mths) just for voicing a legally sound opinion from the exact wordings of the constitution that states that a law should not be made to target an individual. There is even a similar provision in the Laws of the United States.

However, upon request by the APC Senate house leader, Omo-Agege, in submission to party authority, swallowed his pride, and proffered an apology on the open floor of the Senate- specifically, to anyone who may have been offended by his statement. Yet, in total disregard of this show of respect and camaraderie, Senate President Saraki still went ahead and suspended Omo-Agege, thereby depriving the great Urhobo Nation and constituents of Delta Central representation in the 8th Senate. Well, What happened thereafter, is now history.

The reason for this brief recollection is to say something about the caliber and integrity of President Muhammadu Buhari as a person. Sen. Omo-Agege, together with a parliamentary group that was formed by the ruling party APC senators went headlong to fight not only for the sanctity of the constitution, integrity of the hallowed Chambers, but the position of the leader of the ruling party - Mr. President himself.

For Omo-Agege, the fight became personal - he was attacked from every angle by the powerful and overreaching arms of the Senate presidency. Yet like David, he stood firm with God, exceptional legal strategic skills, and admirable political savviness to deliver not only himself, but the joint integrity of the Senate, Presidency, and the party (APC).
This, and only this act of courage to fight and defeat injustice and impunity, is what won him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, the party, the presidency and the average Nigerian man, woman, and youths on the street!

However, on a personal note, suffice it to say - *it takes one brave man to appreciate the bravery of another* This, and the fact that Omo-Agege’s fight had been unreasonably turned into a personal one whereby he was even accused of fighting as though the president is his “uncle”, with all kinds of persecution and insults rained on him - was what made this matter of national interest, and gradually endeared Sen. Omo-Agege to President Buhari, and indeed all his supporters alike.

Mr. President, a man of honor and integrity understood Omo-Agege’s fight, and appreciated his courage and loyalty. To this end, he fervently wished and hoped that the robust quality representation and contribution Omo-Agege brought to the nation’s National Assembly would continue. And yes, he did not hide his desires to see a humble and courageous man who was singularly persecuted for defending the TRUTH, who defied all odds and staunch opposition in a non- APC controlled state to win re-election - take a leadership role in the National Assembly.

So, on a personal note, both President Muhammadu Buhari and Deputy Sen. President Omo-Agege appreciate one another because they understand the courage it takes to stand up for truth and the persecution that comes with fighting injustice and impunity.

PoliticsRe: Rahma Indimi Calls Out Mohammed Babangida Over Child Custody Case by bamideleafolabi: 9:00pm On Oct 30, 2018
Rahama, a mother who abandoned her kids for close to three years, left them in Minna for Abuja now turns to the court to help her bring the same kids back.
Rahama has a penchant for running to the social media once she feels she has been wronged. After lying in Abuja court that she was married in the registry , refused to obey court orders over custody, she has come again.
Any reasonable mother would eat her pride and look for peaceful solution especially since she packed out of the home voluntarily and not that she was sent packing. Not Rahama
Her latest outburst is interesting and one hopes she is prepared for the worst after accusing the judge of collecting bribe.
Spoilt brat, how did she ever think a judge who she has consistently hold in contempt by ignoring his ruling, perjuring would now twist a case to favour her.
If she is not posting curses to her estranged husband over access to their kids, she is quoting inexistent Quoranic verses to justify her actions, she is blaming others but herself for her inability to live successfully as a married woman.
Her dad, we gathered had told her to let peace reign, no, she wouldn't.
With benefits of hindsight, her threats of blackmail and disgrace in the media which she issued as the marriage collapsed is what she is now living up to.
Nairalanders will recall how each time court bailiff went to her house to effect a ruling by the court that the status quo be maintained, she would always run to Instagram to say Mohammed wanted to kill her..The same judge whose orders she disregarded she ran to for help now. Sorry o. You cannot eat your cake and have it
PoliticsWhy I Resigned As Minister And Quit Apc, Mama Taraba Opens Up by bamideleafolabi(op): 9:06am On Sep 29, 2018
The Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan has resigned her membership of the APC and also quit the Buhari government as a Minister.

In her letter to the President dated 29th September, 2018, the former Minister thanked Buhari for the opportunity to serve.

She recalled how she was duly screened and cleared before her appointment and how she also notified the President of her interest in contesting for  the Governorship seat in her state, Taraba.

She stated that all through her sojourn up to collection of form and mobilisation for the Presidential and Gubernatorial primaries, she kept the President in the know.

She was however taken aback when she was disqualified by the party from contesting the Governorship seat and more troubled when no reason was given.

According to her, it would be out of place for her to remain as a Minister in the government when the party that formed the government does not find her qualified to be a governor. Based on this, she resigned her post as a Minister.

She also resigned her membership of the party, APC. In the letter quitting the party, copy of which was also made available to abujareporters, she stated her disappointment at being disqualified from contesting as a Governorship aspirant while no tangible reason was given by the party leadership. She claimed she felt betrayed unjustly treated and let down by the party.

PoliticsWomen Affairs Minister Denies Resigning From Buhari's Cabinet by bamideleafolabi(op): 10:51am On Aug 02, 2018
Women Affairs Minister, Aisha Alhassan  has denied our earlier story that she has resigned her appointment as a member of Present Buhari's cabinet.

The Minister also stated that contrary to the rumour going round, she is still a member of the ruling APC.

Aisha Alhassan, according to reports has been bombarded with calls confirming her resignation and next moves since the story broke a few days ago.

Sources close to the Minister disclosed that the misconception must have risen out of a letter she wrote to the President weeks back indicating that she wanted to contest Taraba Governorship election in 2019, seeking his blessing.

The Minister, according to our source wrote the letter weeks back and Buhari only a few days ago replied her indicating his support and promising backing to ensure that they enjoy a levelled playing ground.

The Women Affairs Minister  is believed to have made up her mind to run under the APC platform thus ending speculations that she might dump the party for PDP.

The source also revealed that she is not yet considering her resignation now since the constitution states that she is could stay till one month to election. Moreover both her letter to the President as well as the President's reply did not raise the issue of resignation.

PoliticsRe: Rahma Indimi Separated From Her 2 Children, Shares Cryptic Post by bamideleafolabi: 1:43pm On Jul 17, 2018
It is unfortunate that Rahama has been using the social media to whip up sentiments about the kids with her husband. Here is a situation in which a lady voluntarily packed out of her matrimonial home, yet she is claiming she cannot see the kids. When she had the opportunity of having the kids under her roof, she blew it by locking them up when the husband came to take them back so that they could resume school.
Court gave ruling that the husband should have the kids, each time bailiff wanted to execute court judgment she runs to Instagram claiming her life was under threat.
She will not tell Nigerians how she lied in court that she had a Registry wedding with Mohammed a few months back. At the end of it, the judge struck out the case because she lied.
Those who care about the kids should implore her to stop and remember that soon, the kids would have access to all the threats and blackmail she made against her former husband before they parted. These form the basis of what is now playing out.

It all started years back when Fatima Indimi also known as Amma dated Mohammed Year Adua.

Well, the relationship came and went as they parted ways. But the ashes of the dead relationship has come back to haunt the family as one of Fatima’s siblings, her half sister, Hauwa also known as Miami is set to marry the same guy she dated years back.

Well, talk about keeping family secrets secret, that would just have been fine but the elder Indimi whose handle on IG is @northern hibiscus started a thread on her Instagram. She raised the issue whether it was morally right for a lady to marry someone who once dated her elder sister. Well, Rahama Indimi, with the handle, R@rahma_yi also followed.
Since the issue was dropped it has led to a lot of mudslinging and abuses being thrown back and forth.

PoliticsEl Rufai Demolishes Headquarters Of Factional Apc In The Dead Of The Night, See by bamideleafolabi(op): 9:09am On Feb 20, 2018
Governor, Nasir El Rufai is at it again. The lilliputian Governor who is known for his non-tolerance for dissent was said to have ordered the demolition of the building used as the office of the breakaway faction of the APC in Kaduna state last night.

El Rufai, you may recall had practically rendered the party moribund since he came to power by picking as many as six members  of the party's State Executive and giving them positions in his government.

Since then, the party became crippled and no one could call him to order even if he erred or committed anti party activities.

The evolution of another faction of the party was a product of dissension and his inability to.hold the party together, insisting that he alone knows it all.

The factional leaders only suspended him for six months a few days ago even though they have been overruled by the National leadership of the party.

See the pix of the office located along Sambo Road reduced to rubbles overnight.

BusinessMacmillan Boss, Adelekan Vs Efcc, What Efcc Will Not Want Nigerians To Know by bamideleafolabi(op): 9:03am On Jan 26, 2018
MACMILLAN BOSS, PROF ADELEKAN'S BRUSH WITH EFCC, WHAT THE EFCC WILL NOT TELL YOU

- How his arrest followed a threat by prominent SAN over a staff sacked by Macmillan for fraud

- EFCC placed sticker on houses, froze accounts without court order

- Properties built 15-23 years ago are marked as proceeds of 2016 fraud

Sometimes in 2003, a lady was arrested by EFCC under Nuhu Ribadu over allegations of fraud in her place of work. The petitioners alleged top scale fraud over contracts in FCT High Court where she worked as Chief Registrar. Houses which were acquired ten years before she became Chief Registrar, cars, filling station were all impounded.
At the end of the case, EFCC was lambasted for not investigating the case before charging it to court. The judge said they embarked on a wild goose chase, based on a frivolous petition.

Today, the lady so maligned is a Minister.

The story seems to be repeating itself in this case involving EFCC and Prof. Adelekan, the Managing Director of Macmillan Publishers who was arrested over 20billion Naira contract fraud.
Adelekan was picked in January. He was kept in custody for seven days. And within the seven days, he was only quizzed for two hours all through his days with EFCC. He was subsequently released to go and bring evidence that the contracts being investigated were executed.
While still with EFCC, Adelekan had allegedly briefed his lawyers, Olujimi and Sam OlogunOrisa who are both SANs and they are waiting for EFCC to take the case to the court only for them to be jolted by a series publications depicting media trial of their client.
EFCC allegedly organised a media briefing where school principals who only assumed office in 2017 were invited by the Commission with the school heads claiming that the projects implemented earlier were never implemented. Rather than ask Adelekan to come around and confront the principals, or call Adelekan to confront him with fresh evidence, the Commission went ahead to air their claims.
They didn't stop there. Houses that were built between fifteen and twenty three years ago were marked with EFCC stickers indicating that they are under investigation for fraud committed in 2016. Another house that was built in 2006, where the family lives was also marked as proceeds of 2016 fraud. They didn't stop there. Our source also confirmed that accounts run by Adelekan including company accounts were are frozen without court order.
This has put in jeopardy the jobs of over 500 staff who are employed in the companies and whom presently do not know what fate would befall them
Many of his staff see these as trying times for their boss who is believed to be diligent and have a knack for probity.
According to sources in Macmillan, the events that led to the developing story started years back when Macmillan management decided to sack one of its staff who was found culpable of fraud valued at about 100mil.
The said staff was said to have been arrested by the Police only for a prominent SAN with close ties to EFCC to call Adelekan and asked that he should drop the case or face EFCC. Adelekan was said to have refused to drop the case, rather, he transferred it to Abuja. Days later, Adelekan was arrested by EFCC.

In another curious twist, when he was summoned to EFCC, the same ex-staff who is being investigated for fraud was at the EFCC waiting. It was obvious that he had a hand in the EFCC case.
What many people are wondering is why EFCC would not allow a businessman who has been in business for over 35 years prove his innocence before going to the media to malign him. Observers are also wondering what EFCC has to gain by tarnishing the reputation of a contractor who duly bid for jobs, which were duly awarded after he bid for them and they were also executed according to specification.
The impression being created is that the EFCC is bent on trying him in the media by not inviting him to show the documents and proof of execution. Already, his lawyers are said to have taken steps to institute an action against a national daily which has been at the vanguard of dishing out EFCC findings without verifying the true facts of the case

PoliticsRahama Indimi, Buhari's Sister Inlaw Now Deals In Sex Enhancement Drugs? by bamideleafolabi(op): 10:50am On Nov 15, 2017
For Rahama Indimi, Mohammed Babangida's former wife,  a new controversy is raging over a post on Instagram which she has not denied. The Instagram post, which is mentioned her name, her IG address, @rahma_yi as well as her shop location in Wuse 2, Abuja.
We got  the information that she has just gone into partnership with a body that sells sex enhancing drugs for ladies.
Names of some of the drugs were mentioned in the posts, such as pussy sweetener  and Diva honey. [see the post below]
According to the post,  the drugs would now be available in her outlet located at Wuse 2, Abuja. The organisation,  Jaaruma Empire announced the collaboration claiming that they have been offered space by her.
In soliciting for patronage,  they claim to have "pussy sweetners", which is " now available for you (that is customers)  to use and kill him with pussy juice", referring to the effects of the drugs on the men that sleep with those who apply the drugs.
The posts further encouraged  young girls "from the ghetto" to find their talent and gift " perfect it and  it would take them places.
The post which obviously had the tone of luring girls, especially from the ' ghetto ' into using their body to get what they wanted from men was undoubtedly coded.

CultureMass Discontent In Federal Civil Service As 400 Dep. Directors Are Stagnated by bamideleafolabi(op): 1:30pm On Nov 13, 2017
Serious discontent is brewing in the Federal Civil Service over issues of promotion. At the centre of the discontent are some civil servants who have been stagnated for some time now.

As gathered from our source,  over 400 serving Deputy Directors in the Federal Civil Service have appealed to the Presidency for intervention  over denial of promotions  to the position of Directors  in line with subsisting civil service rules.

The aggrieved  officials under the aegis of Concerned Deputy Directors, (Administration) stated this in separate petitions dated 2nd February, 2017 and 19tdh May, 2017 addressed to the Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC); Acting President Yemi Osinbajo; House of Representatives' Committee on Public Service Matters; Chairman Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service and Secretary, Council of Retired Federal Permanent Secretaries (CORFEPS).

According to the letter, the "Deputy Directors (Administration) were promoted last in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and have matured to be considered for promotion to the post of Directors (Administration) in years 2015, 2016 and 2017 but have not been given the opportunity to sit for the examination as a result of a lingering crisis are constrained to invite the National Assembly for quick intervention‎

The affected public servants who denied knowledge of the litigation filed by six petitioners who dragged the Head of Civil Service of the Federation and Federal Civil Service Commission before the National Industrial Court, Abuja, noted that "most of the aggrieved officers have retired from the Federal Civil Service."

"You may wish to note further that Court graciously gave the contending parties the opportunity for an out-of-court settlement. Unfortunately three years after, the parties are yet to arrive at an amicable resolution.

"We are fully persuaded that this Court order can be genuinely and appropriately utilized if the parties in the litigation adopt 'a win-win' approach to resolve the impasse. Notwithstanding the fact that, most of the aggrieved offivers have retired from the Federal Civil Service, a reliance on precedence can be adopted to promote those who have merit amongst them.

"We are compelled to bring to the fore the three critical and negative effects that the inability of the administrative cadre to write examinations has brought to bear on the officers and to plead on means of resolving the issue in the public interest.

"These are: the continued suspension of the promotion examination for Administrative Officers on SGL16 to SGL17 for the third time consecutively based on the Court Order to settle out-of-Court has unwittingly collapsed the Administrative Cadre in the Federal Civil Service.

"It is our conviction that this will definitely amount to travesty of justice for those of us who were abi-nitio not involved in the ongoing litigation to continue to suffer denials of not being availed the opportunity to sit for the competitve promotion examination as and when due (2025, 2016, 2017 and only God knows when the case would be determined)

"The continued delay and frustration in allowing officers in the Administrative Cadre to rise to SGL 17 as prescribed in the schemes of service and others, adversely affect their growth and indeed,  their contributions to nation building. Where this lingers beyond year 2017 which to us is already too long, and no doubt sends wrong signals to the observing public. It will also degenerate to  inability of the Service  to attract and retain Nigerians who opt to pursue career in Federal Civil service.

"It is our passionate plea that the Federal Civil Service Commission should urgently consider the plight of officers in our  Cadre who have been and are still being stagnated since 2015 to expeditiously seek means of resolving the matter amicably in the interest of the public.

"In the light of the foregoing, we humbly appeal for the extension of the scheduled promotion examination should this matter in Court not be resolved early," the petitioners urged.

In a related development, the Group also prayed the NIC to "vacate its provisiinal order because equity is not on the side of the indolent. In the circumstance, the Court advised the aggrived party in the litigation to settle out of court to which they were adamant.

"We had thought that all these moves would serve the dual purpose of saving our careers and the future of the entire Federal Civil Service by so doing and devoid of any other known line of action.  We have exhausted all the avenues for resolving the matter," the petitioners disclosed.

Speaking on the development, the Deputy Director Press, of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Dr Joel Oruche confirmed the development but said that the matter was before a court of competent jurisdiction and as such he could not comment on it untill he sought for clarification  from the authorities.

PoliticsShow Of Shame: Communications Minister, Adebayo Shittu In 3mil Debt Mess by bamideleafolabi(op): 2:30pm On Oct 31, 2017
Two of the attributes that Buhari was thought to have before he came to.power was firmness and discipline. These attributes in no small way contributed to his election.
With benefit of hindsight it is obvious that he might have lost them.
During the Obasanjo days in Aso Rock, no serving minister, however powerful or influential you were, would have had the guts to turn his gubernatorial ambition to a sing song while still in office. It was either you quietly resigned to face the ambition or you were booted out if you showed that your ambition was bigger than the job you were appointed for.
This was so because it was easy for any politician to forget why he was appointed and start using the platform to feather his political nest rather than face the task that gave him the political exposure.
Fast forward to Buhari era.
Take the case  of Adebayo Shittu, the heavily bearded, Ustaz looking Minister of Communications. I am quite sure his name never rang a bell until Buhari exhumed him from God knows where.
Rather than face the task ahead of him, with all the challenges that Nigeria has in that sector, the guy has spent half of the eighteen months in office telling us he would be the next Governor of Oyo State.
He doesn't seem to care whether the voters really vote, or even want him.
If you ask him questions about bis Ministry, he would always find a way to link it with Oyo state politics and why he should be the next Governor.
Unfortunately, his boss does not see anything bad in this divided attention.
The same impunity he displays in holding the office, he has exhibited towards a young man he contracted to install solar lights in his house.
Read this.

Communications Min Adebayo Shittu in N3m contract mess

For reneging on a financial agreement bodering on the payment of three million naira to Honeygate Engineering Company Limited,  Minister of Communications, Mr Adebayo Shittu, is under the threat of litigation from the company.
In a strongly worded letter by Cedrick & Partners, a law firm, dated October 19 on behalf of one Engr Abduraman Oladapo, the Managing Director of the company being owed the money, it stated that having explored all avenues to get Mr Shittu to pay up the contractual amount in dispute, the law firm is compelling him to, within seven days from the date of the letter, pay up the amount or be prepared to face litigation in court.
In the said letter signed by Ayenuberu Eniola, the Principal Partner of the firm, it said that Mr Shittu engaged the services of Honeygate Engineering to install six stand alone solar lights at his residence located at Plot 596 Apo Gudu in Abuja since February 2017. It said the job was successfully carried out and the Minister had been enjoying the lights but refused to pay.
The letter reads, “You became highly inaccessible to our client without reasonable and genuine excuse both from you and the security guard at your gate whenever our client came to demand for payment.
We hereby demand for the immediate payment of the sum of three million naira being the cost of the six stand alone solar lights installed at your residence in Abuja since February 2017. If you fail to pay the above stated amount on or before the expiration of 7 days of the service of this demand notice on you, we shall have no other alternative than to carry out our client’s further instruction to take appropriate legal action against you to recover the debt. We shall also forward an appeal letter on behalf of our client to President Muhammadu Buhari”, it stated.
As at the time of writing this report,  over 10 days after the demand notice, the Minister is yet to pay up.
Attempts to reach the Minister was not possible as his Media Aide, Victor Oluwadamilare said he was out of town. He however promised that the amount in dispute would be paid but as at the time of filing this report, Blueprint Weekend learnt from Engr Oladapo that the money is yet to be paid.
According to Engr Oladapo, “If this is what he does as a minister, I wonder how he will do if he becomes a governor in Oyo State since that is his ambition.

PoliticsWhy Cbn Confirmed Ibb's Son, Aminu As Unity Bank Chairman by bamideleafolabi(op): 2:55pm On Oct 30, 2017
The Nigerian corporate world was jolted but not shocked with the announcement of a new Chairman for the Board of Unity Bank on Thursday. He is Aminu Babangida, son of former military ruler President Ibrahim Babangida.

The older and scion of the family, Mohammed had served on the board for over sixteen years having started with Intercity Bank, one of the banks that merged to form Unity Bank.

Reticent to a fault, Aminu was formerly into big time diesel supplies in Abuja before he veered into properties.

In the last couple of years, he has been doing properties in Europe and has gradually drifted away from the Nigerian energy sector. The new appointment is on a part time basis and so it would only marginally affect his schedule as he has been shuttling between Nigeria and Europe before now

In appointing Aminu as its new chairman. The bank must have seen a lot of glowing attributes. The ex-military president, Ibrahim Babangida's son looked every inch intimidating on paper thus beating all other likely candidates for the job.

Another important factor that must have influenced the appointment  is the fact that the family owns majority shares in the bank.

Aminu exudes the common core of entrepreneurial depth, tact, and other personal and social abilities which has proven to be the key ingredients of his brilliance and emotional intelligence.

Beside his experience as a business manager and self-made entrepreneur, Aminu has also worked on the trading floor of Trafigura BV, London, UK. He attended Regents Business School and Westminster Business School in London where he obtained a BA in International Business and MA in International Business Management respectively.

Everywhere Aminu navigates, he radiates a spirit of independence and sense of worth that even the world's finest and most daring industrialists labour to achieve. And he is just a bit over 40.

His vast knowledge, unrelenting gift of perception and excellent moral fiber, enhanced his appointment by Unity Bank as well as the ratification of his employment by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Boardroom politics and is not the stuff for kids. But the banks are calmer now and with the family being the major owners of the bank, it would definitely pave way for a less-restive tenure.

One aspect of Aminu Babangida's lifestyle that has continued to surprise many. He is indeed the most eligible bachelor in town. This is more so when you take into congnisance the affluence and aplomb that greeted his sister's wedding earlier this year. Sources however claimed that despite his foreign trips and spending more time out of Nigeria, he is not too particular about settling down with a foreigner.
Rather he would prefer to bid his time and ensure that he is doubly sure about the woman he takes to the altar.

PoliticsSoft Drinks Not Served At Halima Babangida's Wedding. Reasons For That Revealed by bamideleafolabi(op): 12:24pm On May 17, 2017
Three Powerful Lessons from the Halima Babangida wedding, including why soft drinks were not served to guests.

It is no longer news that Halima, the last daughter of former President, Ibrahim Babangida wedded last weekend at an event attended by the high and mighty in Minna. The 3-day event drew attention for many reasons. While many focused on the number of private jets, hired or owned, that landed on the Minna airport tamarc just for the wedding, many others were more interested in the politics of people from.different political camps sitting together on a table and even exchanging banters. There were howeer three unassailable lessons that we deducted from the wedding.

It was the first time in a wedding of that magnitude that bottlevd drinks were not served. Neither Coca cola nor Pepsi or other soft drink products were served during the event. The development left many wondering. Why would a wedding of that calibre not have drinks like Sprite, Fanta, Coke, Pepsi or even Malt drinks. Later, we were made to understand that the financiers set out to put forward a message, and that is, there are many more local drinks that are beneficial to the body than coca cola or Pepsi products or even the malt products.

Guests were served with chilled zobo, various forms of Kunu, there were also straight juice drinks, like pineapple, ginger, and some mixed together in cocktails. For those who liked to experiment with new things, they mist have been overwhelmed by the number of drinks that were seemed in gourds.

It didn’t end there, the drinks were complemented with food and snacks. At the cultural night, which ordinarily should have featured dancing and singing for the bride, about eight states spread across Nigeria were chosen to present food and drinks which they served to people. Both the people who had invitation cards and those who didn’t had access to these meals as there was more than enough to go round. Indeed, at a point, people from some of the states were begging to have guests taste what they had.

Local snacks especially from Niger State was the order of the day. In normal climes, you would enter a wedding reception and see cup cakes or piece of cake neatly packaged for guests. This was not so. The fine packages contained Donkuwa, kulikuli, kokoro and Gurundi all Nupe delicacies.

Maryam Babangida, the matriarch of the family was champion of women empowerment. The whole idea of encouraging local meals and drinks was to bring back what she lived for. Most of the local snacks and drinks were products from women. If we all patronise our local meals and drinks, more women would be empowered and we would also be more healthy.

Another takeaway from the wedding was the fact that one way or the other four of Africa’s richest somehow see IBB as their mentors and were there. Governments come and go, but there is no doubt that the IBB era helped in moulding some entrepreneurs who are today billionaires.

They were not contractors but people who saw opportunities in the Nigerian economy and seized them. Mike Adenuga, Folorunso Alakija and Aliko Dangote are a few of these men. They were not contractors. They were entrepreneurs who helped in opening up the economy.

PoliticsBreaking: Buhari Removes Sgf As Chairman Of Committee To Constitute Fg Boards by bamideleafolabi(op): 2:27pm On Jan 03, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari has removed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir David Lawan as chairman of the presidential committee on the reconstitution of federal government boards of parastatals, agencies and commissions.

Multiple sources said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was appointed to chair the presidential committee.

The chairman of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agencies (NDLEA) Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah was also appointed to head the secretariat of the committee at the instance of the vice president, a source said.

“The SGF is no longer in charge of that responsibility, for obvious reasons,” one of the sources said.

The Abdallah-led team now meets frequently at Wuse II, Abuja, it was learned. Another source said the committee “is working vigorously and will soon conclude its work after which it will submit its report to Mr President.”

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has recently queried the SGF over alleged fraud at the Presidential Initiative on North East (PINE).

The Senate ad-hoc committee on mounting crisis of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Northeast had accused the SGF of several misdeeds including failing to account for N2.5 billion PINE funds. The SGF had however denied all the allegations.

In his New Year message, Buhari admitted that his “government is aware of some mistakes and wrongdoings in handling the affairs of IDPs. “We are taking measures to correct those mistakes and punish the culprits,” he said.

Buhari had in October, 2015 empowered an eight-member committee, headed by Babachir, to compile names of prospective appointees into federal government boards, parastatals and agencies.

Members of the committee included Alhaji Mai Mala Buni (northeast), Alhaji Zakari Ede (northcentral), Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir (northwest), Chief Hillard Etagbo Eta (south-south), Chief Pius Akinyelure (southwest), Chief Emmanuel Eneukwe (southeast) and Mr. Gideon Sammani, a senior special assistant to the president as secretary.

Daily Trust reports that following widespread complaints from various quarters on how the Babachir committee was handling the collation of names for the boards’ appointment, Buhari had in November, 2016 mandated Vice President Osinbajo to meet critical stakeholders and sort out the matter once and for all.

It was gathered that Buhari also directed that the Senate President Bukola Saraki, House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) Chairman Abdulaziz Yari, APC Governors Forum Chairman Rochas Okorocha and representatives of the governors in each of the six geopolitical zones should be part of the committee.

They were directed to review the names of the prospective appointees collated from the 36 states and FCT which was reportedly done without recourse to governors and other stakeholders of the APC. Sources said Buhari decided to handle the matter at “high level” in order to douse tension.

“The fact is that the SGF committee, to a great extent, forgot the issue at stake. They forgot that the 2015 general election was handled by members of the APC Presidential Campaign Council who should be compensated,” a source at the party’s secretariat, said.

The source lamented that most of them were “flagrantly forgotten and even sitting governors, especially in APC states were not consulted.”

In order to address the lingering issues, the Osinbajo-led committee held their first meeting on November 14, 2015 at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Thereafter, it was gathered that six geopolitical zones nominated a governor to represent them during subsequent brainstorming.

The governors reportedly nominated a representative thus: Jibrilla Bindow (northeast), Atiku Bagudu (northwest), Simon Lalong (northcentral), Rochas Okorocha (southeast), Adams Oshiomhole (south-south), and Akinwumi Ambode (southwest).

A source from Bauchi state said in one of the meetings, all the APC governors were given a slot to nominate three people to be appointed chairmen of boards and 20 others as members.

This, he said, was besides the slot given to ministers and other top APC members, in addition to those that would be selected by the president himself.

“In our state for instance, the governor had already nominated three people from the three senatorial districts for chairmanship and has also given one slot of membership to all the 20 local government areas in the state,” the source said.

But an alleged compromise by the committee was said to have prompted president Buhari to reject the first report submitted by the SGF-led committee at that time.

“Most people of the party felt that they have not been carried along. I know that many of them complain every day. They want board appointments released so that there will be calm. The people from the southeast said they have not been appointed; the people from the northeast and even from the northwest where Mr. President comes from said that they have not been appointed,” he said.

In the same vein, the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, in a widely publicised interview with the Hausa Service of the BBC last year, said APC members who worked for her husband’s election had been neglected.

Mrs Buhari had also stated that the president had been hijacked by a cabal that did not work for his success.

On October 24, last year, state governors elected on the platform of the APC expressed their displeasure on how they were being sidelined in the choice of those being appointed from their states by President Buhari.

The governors protested to President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at a meeting held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja. Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong confirmed this to State House after the meeting, saying Buhari had asked governors who had complaints to put them in writing while pledging to look into them.

“So, all the states that have complaints are going to put them into writing and the President promised that he is going to look into it,” the governor had told journalists at that time.

President Buhari is expected to make appointments into no fewer than 500 parastatals.

APC members from across the states are grumbling, saying most of the seats are currently occupied by PDP members appointed by ex-president Goodluck Jonathan.

The spokesman of the vice president, Laolu Akande declined comment when contacted yesterday. He simply said: "It is the president that makes appointments."

A presidential aide also told our correspondent yesterday that the last time he checked, Lawal was the one handling the issue of board appointments.

The aide, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said he did not know why or whether the responsibility was taken away from the SGF at all.

A top government official told Daily Trust last night that the SGF’s committee on the board appointments had finished its job as dictated in the mandate setting it up and has submitted its report.

“I am not denying the protests by some individuals and groups, but the committee of the SGF has completed its assignment and the Vice President’s committee is not a replacement for the SGF’s,” the officials who insisted on not being named said.

A committee headed by Osinbajo to review the appointments into the Governing Board of agencies is not an indictment of the SGF.

PoliticsHow Segun Mimiko Betrayed Adefarati, Agagu, Obj, Tinubu, Pdp And Now Eyitayo by bamideleafolabi(op): 3:02pm On Dec 11, 2016
If and when the story of the politics of Ondo State is written, one man who would definitely occupy a pride of place for reasons most controversial is the incumbent and outgoing governor, Olusegun Mimiko.

The medical doctor turned politician simply imbibed the idea that there are no.permanent friends in politics and used same to use and dump virtually all that helped him in the political ladder in Ondo state.

Unknown to many who saw him.coming to Abuja weeks ago, before the Ondo gubernatorial elections, Mimiko.was simply coming around to negotiate a soft landing fr himself by agreeing to allow his own candidate and the candidate of his party to fail in the elections.

He was alleged to have agreed to make the elections smooth for APC on the condition that Akeredolu, the APC candidate will give him blanket cover and not probe him. This, the presidency agreed to and it smoothen the way.

NGOs and the people on ground corroborated the fact that Ondo State election was influenced by money. Mimiko simply refused to support his candidate at the last minute rather than match APC naira for naira.

Voters were said to have gotten five hundred naira each to vote for APC earlier in the day and those who came later got one thousand naira while those who came quite late got two thousand Naira each for a vote. NGOs as well as even security agencies saw this and there were recordings of this taking place.

PDP men simply fizzled out.

In the beginning, it was Mimiko and the late Adefarati who gave the medical doctor turned politician a break. After Adefarati's first term, Mimiko led a revolt. He wanted to be governor. This was despite all that Adefarati gave him by ivibg him a free hand over how his budget was spent. He used the opportunity t build a war chest and turned it on the then governor. At the.end of the day, he dumped Adefarati and joined Agagu. Agagu won and made.him SSG. When it was time for Agagu to seek.reelection, he told Agagu he wanted to contest. Agagu told him.to.wait. Mimiko.was not readybto wait. He moved away from PDP and moved to Labour Party.
Lest we forget, Obasanjo had made him a minister in the PDP government then, with the hope of keeping him in PDP. This was not to be. He dumped PDP, Agagu and OBJ.

Elections took place and Agagu won. He went court. Mimiko did not have money to pay lawyers. He had expended everything he had. He ran to Tinubu who offered to help him since it was a battle against PDP. Tinubu financed the case in court till MIMIKO won at the Supreme Court. Then payback time came, the governor turned his back on Tinubu.

Tinubu was so.miffed that he can.to Ondo State with the anger of an investor who lost all. He mounted rostrum in Ondo and poured invectives on Mimiko as an ingrate. The next day, the Ondo media swooped on Tinubu for.coming to rip where he never sowed. Very few bothered to know till date what was the agreement Mimiko had with Tinubu.

The anti- Lagos vote was strong and got Mimiko a second term against Akeredolu.

Now Mimiko is leaving office. APC is in power and they are desperate. The Buhari boys are desperate to outwit Tinubu and establish a strong foothold in the Southwest and they need allies like Mimiko who can give them votes.

If tomorrow he dumps PDP, remember you read it here first. He had left as far back as weeks ago before the gubernatorial elections took place. It is only his body that is still there.

Sadly, the Mimiko story is typical of many of Nigerian politicians today, only that his transcends so many era.

PoliticsInterior Minister Dragged To Court For Destroying Company Fence In The Night by bamideleafolabi(op): 9:12am On Dec 10, 2016
An interesting case has come up in an Abuja high court as an Abuja based company sued the Interior Minister Abdulrahman DAMABAZZAU for criminal trespass.
The Minister was alleged to have brought in caterpillars owned by his leasing company to destroy another company’s property around 9:30 in the night after visiting the plots of land earlier and threatening to do same. The land in question is located on Airport Road, Lugbe, Abuja

According to the statement of claims, which we have in our possession, the said land referred to as Plot PFS 1996 and MF 1998 in Lugbe East District were originally allocated to Amobi And Associates by Abuja Municipal Area Council zonal land through a Right of Occupancy dated 11:3:98.
The said plots were however bought and taken over by Felodit Oil and Gas limited which went ahead to perfect it’s papers with the Ministry of Federal CapitalTerritory while also ensuring that proper change of ownership was documented and the appropriate organs of the Ministry were carried along.
Based on this, Felodit Oil was issued a Statutory Right of Occupancy dated 20:2:2000. The company was also issued the survey plan showing the areas of the plots. Documentation were done .by all the necessary agencies of the Federal Capital Territory and by these documentations, most of which the company attached to its court papers, the ministry acknowledged that the land belonged to the company.
The Statement of Claim further showed how the plaintiff in the suit was issued Conveyance of Approval for development Plans on the plots in June 2004 and it applied for its building plans revalidation in 2016 when it was ready to commence work at the site.
According to the Statement of Claim, its building plan was approved and a letter dated 20:07:2016 was issued conveying the approval of the revalidation of the building plan after which the company moved to site.
It was gathered that work started on two security gate houses as well as the perimeter fencing round the plot with about Seven million, seven hundred and thirty three thousand six hundred and fifty Naira already expended. This was the situation till 8th October when the Minister allegedly visited the site and was seen there by Obinna Kingsley Betterman who moulds block around the site.
DANBAZZAU allegedly confronted the man and threatened to demolish the structure on the plot claiming it was his. This was around 7.30 pm.
According to the Statement of Claims, Danbazzau carried out his threat as caterpillars, belongning to a leasing company owned by him moved in around 9:30pm the same evening, despite the fact that it was raining. The plaintiff reported the matter at the Lugbe Police Station where some policemen went to the site with the DCO2 and arrested policemen who accompanied the Minister’s caterpillar to the site. Upon their arrest, the policemen, who were led by a Superintendent of Police claimed that they were sent by a ‘highly placed Nigerian but refused to mention names. It was later confirmed that the policemen were attached to the Ministry of Interior where DAMBAZZAU presides as Minister.
The DPO of Lugbe Police Station there and then directed that both parties should come back the to the station with their proof of ownership of the plot on 10th October.
According to the Statement of Claim, the plaintiff complied but the defendant, that is Dambazzau never did. Based on the development, the DPO directed that the plaintiff go back to site and continue with his construction as the other party did not turn up neither did they send any representation.
Based on the above the plaintiff put the total cost of the demolished structure as well as the cost of the suit, together at above 12million Naira. It is also seeking a declaration from the court, affirming that it’s the owner of the plots as shown in the Rights of Occupancy dated 20:2:2000.
Apart from this, Felodit oil is also seeking an order declaring the act by the Minister and his agents on the land on 08:10:2016 as trespass while also seeking an order of perpetual injunction restraining Danbazzau and his agents from disturbing the plaintiff’s activities on his land. They are also praying the court to order the Minister to pay special General and exemplary damages totaling about 30million Naira to the plaintiff.
The suit comes up on 31st of January for mention.

PoliticsAgain, Zahra Buhari's Wedding Shifted Forward, Presidency Plans Media Blackout by bamideleafolabi(op): 1:22pm On Nov 30, 2016
i
AGAIN ZAHRA BUHARI'S WEDDING MOVED FORWARD, SEE NEW DATE AS PRESIDENCY PLANS TOTAL MEDIA BLACKOUT

For the second time, the wedding of Zahra Buhari, the President’s daughter has been moved forward.

According to the latest reports, the wedding has now been moved to 16th December, 2016.

Though sources did not tell us the reasons behind the new postponement, it is believed to be at the behest of the family of the bride who believe that everything should be done according to their own beliefs and I’m their own terms.

Abujareporters gathered that the new date is Sacrosant and would not be changed again.

In all, the Presidency is said to be wary of any negative media attention that could arise from the wedding programmes rather than the wedding itself and it is this that has become an issue in the circles of the very few that have been saddled with the task of putting the event together.

Indeed, left for the President, Zahra, after the wedding Fatiha should just go to her husband’s house, but the two families are not comfortable with this at all. And they are willing to do anything to ensure that the event is well-celebrated. This is more so that Zahra herself, who is close to her father has made him to realise that whatever he needs to do it whatever measures they need to put in place, she would abide by it just to ensure that the event is well-celebrated. Sources gathered that fifth columnists and spoilers have continued to raise alarm over ostentatious display of wealth, offensively profane things that could happen and the damage that such could do to the President’s political and social status and this has been a major problem.

Based on this, it was decided that the event would be essentially a family affair with little or no outside components.

As at this morning, whether or not all the four parties earlier arranged would still take place was still being discussed.

Recall that the President’s wife, Aisha who is the mother of the bride was supposed to hold a party at the Banquet hall of the Presidential Villa before another one organised by the wife of the Senate President and finally the last party to be hosted by the groom’s family, all in Abuja before another one in Maiduguri.

One new feature of the plans now is that no cameras would be allowed at the venues of the events. Phones would also not be allowed. This, we gathered, is a fallout of the 54million NAIRA Louis Vuitton bags issue which had given some people sleepless nights in the Villa.

While all these measures are coming from the bride’s family, on the groom’s side, there have been no murmurs as they wait batedly to have their cherished prize.

PoliticsZahra Buhari's Wedding Postponed By A Week, The Politics Of A Quiet Wedding by bamideleafolabi(op): 6:14am On Nov 27, 2016
It is no longer news that Zahra Buhari, the pretty daughter of the President was scheduled to wed in the next couple of days with the wedding programme starting on Tuesday 30th of November.

The plans have however been altered according to the latest reports originating from the family. Independent sources also confirmed this.

According to our sources, the wedding Fatiha has now been scheduled for 9th December, 2016. This implies that it has been moved forward by a week.

The reason given for shifting of the wedding is that there is a State visit from a prominent monarch to Nigeria on the day earlier slated for the wedding fatiha and having insisted that he wants to be there at the wedding, the President's views and position has to be respected.

Meanwhile, we have confirmed that apart from the wedding Fatiha, four other activities are lined up with three of them in Abuja.

These include a dinner by the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari which is to kick-start the whole programme in Abuja. The dinner has been slated for the Banquet hall of the State House. After the dinner comes another dinner by the wife of the Senate President and the last one by the family of the bride. For security reasons, we have been warned keep the other venues as well as dates and times off the media.

Abujareporters also learnt that the wedding continues to be a hush hush thing because the powerful forces in the Villa wanted it kept as a total secret until we broke the ice.

Indeed, up till date, wedding invitation cards are yet to be sent out despite the fact that ASO Ebi has been purchased. It is as bad as that, our sources confirmed.

Because of the President's averse to having a wedding that becomes a major issue in the media, no information is being sent out.

Moreover the hawks in the Presidency who want to get back at the wife of the President over her outbursts in the interview with BBC weeks back have also seen an opportunity for them to clip her wings and ensure that what would have come in terms of support from outside of the Villa do not come.

Ordinarily, our source said that she would have bee receiving visitors and goodwill messages by now and such goodwill would have translated into billions of Naira for her daughter's wedding.

The hawks were quick to point out that it would be bad publicity for the President if the formal announcement is made now and such things happen hence, they must keep the wedding as secret as possible till the last minute.

Imagine if abujareporters had not broken the story, Nigerians would not have heard anything until the pre-wedding dinner, our source added.

Right now preparations are in top gear in Maiduguri as the groom's family get set to receive he President's daughter as the new addition to the family.

We gathered that apart from the Wushe Wushe night scheduled for there, the bride is also expected to be there for two weeks after the wedding.

PoliticsZahra Buhari's Wedding Plans Unveiled, As President Meets Ahmed Indimi by bamideleafolabi(op): 7:30pm On Nov 22, 2016
BREAKING : ZAHRA BUHARI'S WEDDING PLANS OUT AS THE PRESIDENT MEETS HIS FUTURE SON-IN-LAW, AHMED INDIMI

There are some things you just canmot take away from the President. Maybe because of his age, but it is likely because of experience and training. Buhari is finicky. He takes pain to look at details at times. And so he met his would be son-in-law, Ahmed Indimi.
Buhari according to reports reaching us, met with the young man in the Presidential Villa yesterday evening. He was said to have asked him a few questions especially about his finances as well as his social pedigree.
At the end of it all, sources gathered that the President was not too impressed with what he learnt from the young man. He has reasons to be afraid. Ahmed Indimi's businesses has not been doing too well and some insiders close to him swore that that was one of the reasons he wanted the wedding to take place as early as late November before the First family insisted that it had to take place a week later.
One major issue about the wedding which would perhaps have jolted the President was the fact that the two young people who want to wed hardly know each other.

Indeed, they met for the first time about a month ago. The President abujareporters reliably gathered, paused for a long while even as he was confronted with this fact, which further heightened his fears.
Meanwhile the wedding plans have been rolled out.
Sources close to the couple told abujareporters that the wedding Fatiha will take place at the Central Mosque in Abuja on 2nd of November unlike Zahra's half sister's wedding that took place in Katsina.
The events heralding the wedding will however Start as from 30th and would last till 5th December. We shall keep you posted.
