How dubious can MTN get? I have been at the receiving end of their indiscriminate charges for downloads lately. I use a BB bold 2. I found that live streaming attracts extra charges but should downloads attract the same? I observed that while some downloads are heavily charged, others are not at all. PLEASE, HOW CAN ONE DISTINGUISH BETWEEN THE TWO AND HOW IS IT QUANTIFIED? Their customer care has not been of any help. Is this another dubious act of theirs besides their denying me free air time despite meeting the target? M Thief N...nowhere you go! |
advocate666: Did you misunderstand deliberately?Ever heard of the offence of corrupting public morals? Ofcourse, no one would have cared if the act takes place in a private residence. This is a business outfit that is open to the general public. The Governor has said its a hideout for criminals too. He has a duty to prevent the growth of social miscreants and perverts. Any government that shuts its eyes at that is a disaster waiting to happen. |
advocate666: IT IS NOT FOR ME TO ALLOW.We're discussing a public issue here on a public forum. No one has said its your property. Btw, if you cannot take a stand on such issues now, if you get into public office, what difference would you possibly make? |
Abagworo: Talking about that. Would you like your son, brother or husband to be a barrow pusher?Ofcoure, it won't even cross his mind with the education he'll be exposed to. But I guess yours can take stripping as a 'profession?' |
advocate666: if you are not sure, why opine? |
advocate666: if you are not sure, why opine? Are you for real? Jobs my foot. Can you allow your daughter, sister or wife do such? |
Abagworo: So one cannot use stripping as a career. It is a career in many countries and source of entertainment too. Who's that PH guy that has not been to okabigs? It is also a illegal in many countries. Once the law of a place forbids an act, you either stop it or pack your bags to where it's allowed. Period. |
Good riddance to bad rubbish! Its debasing and dehumanising. I'm not sure if those girls had better opportunities, they'd have opted for such show of shame. Where are the so-called feminists who ought to be at the forefront of the clampdown? Busy wrestling authority from the men. |
Techwriter: If it is how I became a Christian as a religion, I would say I was born into it. Almost everyone in Nigeria was born into one religion or another. This is the reason you need a second birth, what we call born again. I had to become born again to be qualified for the kingdom. Christianity as a religion is no better than Islam except that it has better values. If any of them die without a second birth he/she has the same destination. You've said it all. It's not about the religion you profess or the name you bear but the new birth experience. There are so many 'Christian' children of the devil out there. When people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. Those who have been born into God's family do not make a practice of sinning, because they are children of God. cf I John 3:8 and 9. As for me, I was born into 'Christian' religion but became a Christian many years later. |
Governor Ajimobi's wife was reportedly arrested by London Police for money laundering recently, to the tune of #500M. She was arrested on her 52nd trip overseas in 17months as first lady. Her husband allegedly stood as surety for her while she returned home briefly. Meanwhile, three SANs, led by Chief Wole Olanipekun, have been engaged for the legal battle ahead. @ OP. Thanks for sharing. It's indeed a gory sight to behold when the crises start. I've two cousins with the sickle cell anemia. I really feel for them. But it's not only AS and AS combination that is risky you know? Any two carriers are. AS/AS, AS/SS, AS/SC, AS/AC, AC/AC, AC/SC etc. Many people are not aware of AC, SC, CC genotypes cos they are uncommon. Anything 'C' is the half of 'S' as the shape looks. Its just as deadly. Don't tell me there's no such thing 'cos I'm confirmed AC! |
It seems many people are ignorant of the validity of marriages in the eye of the law. Take note of the following, before you end up contracting an invalid marriage. Only three types of marriages are legally recognised. They are: 1. Statutory Marriage/Marriage under the Act. This involves strict formalities as contained in the Act, after which the Marriage Certificate is issued. Note that this type of marriage can be contracted either in a Registrar's office (court wedding) or a CERTIFIED/LICENSED place of worship. What you should therefore inquire from your priest is whether or not your church is a licensed place of worship. If it is, you don't have to bother your head about 'court wedding' but if its not, then you may observe the court wedding, and thereafter the ceremonial church wedding, which is of no legal consequence. As things stand, the Catholic Church, though not a licensed place of worship issues her own license (which is not recognised by law). The Church believes marriage is not the law's business but God's. If you contract a Catholic wedding therefore, without first going to court, you are on your own. The other two types are Islamic and Traditional Marriages. These two are potentially polygamous while statutory is monogamous. Infact, the latter criminalises marrying more than a wife through the offence of bigamy. |
inspirenet: It's just hilarious! 42 students? And no one could come to their aid? No, ... This is poor!Seriously, do you know what hilarious means? Do I say you are heartless or dumb? Either way, your case requires urgent attention. |
speeder: right, its more appropriate to say ''don't mention'' rather than ''don't mention it'''Don't mention' is one notorious error people make. 'Don't mention it.' is the right thing to say. |
Nairaland is no doubt a unifying ground for Nigerians home and abroad. Yet, many have been put off by the attitudinal indulgences of some Nairalanders. Informed and resourceful persons who ought to be assets on this forum have either backed off or are passive members. Is a new Nairaland possible: where there will be little or no verbal assaults; where tribal wars will be on a dismal low; where the F-word and other foul utterances will be shameful; where we can disagree on issues, religion, and ideologies without being disagreeable; and where values are added to lives without let or hinder? It begins with you and me. Let's give change a chance. |
speeder: ok. I've heard and learnt. ThanksDon't mention it. |
speeder: check ur dictionary again. Sorry to disappoint you.Again, you don't check a dictionary; you rather 'look up a word' in it. And yes, lad means 'young man' so, it's tautological to say 'young lad.' Wait, did you attend Umukuro Development Community Grammar School like Basketmouth? |
Lebee4: please any lawyer in the house, i need an answer:You don't pay bail money in cash. All you need is evidence that your surety is worth that amount. It is when you abscond that your surety either pays the sum or goes to jail. |
speeder: i know young lad, but most joke make some meaning. Still cracking my brain to find oneGoodluck! Note: lad means young man. |
A son who was in school far from home once wrote a text message to his father: 'Father, the situation here is critical. Pls, send me some money. Suicide contemplated.' The father replied: 'Son, the situation at home is more critical. Suicide approved!' |

I'm aware NECO marking is scheduled for this weekend. Pls, mention the marking centres for your area (alongside the subject to be marked there) to assist neophytes who also want to mark. |
How does one tell one's boss she has a mouth odour as a guy, without sounding disrespectful? This is someone one has to work closely with all day. A colleague suggested: 'wait till her birthday and buy her all she needs for fresh breath as gifts' Do you think this would not backfire? |
8ogoegbunam: I got married early this year. My wife is a sweet lady, loving and caring lady. The only major problem we face in our young union is religoius issues. I was brought up in the anglican faith while she grew up a catholic. She promised me that she will attend attend the same church with me once we got married, her only condition is that I should wed her in the catholic church. Amidst great opposition from my parents who were against it initially on the basis of religion, I fullfilled my promise to her by holding our wedding in the catholic church.Frankly speaking, you have a weak case. Even though your wife deserves to be reprimanded for the deceit, I think more of the blame should be laid at your feet. Why marry a Catholic when you have reservations about their doctrine? Even if she switches to your church, will that change her indoctrinations? Saying your liberality could excuse your marrying a muslim makes me wonder if you are the 'spiritual' christian you claim to be. My advice: love covers a multitude of sin. Stay, pray and persevere. |
masterpiecer: Bokoharam and bombMasterpiecer you are indeed the bomb I don't mean of BokoHaram, the dumbs Your words are like your working tool That enlivens realities even to a fool One lesson I have learnt from you is this Be spontaneous you'll blow the world a kiss Wait for 'the right time,' you'll surely end up numb Literature I read so read my lips: you're the bomb! |
omoeast: Only in Nigeria will vice president's wife's cousin wedding will cause road closureOnly in Nigeria will a grammatically handicapped Nigerian mischievously criticize an ideologically challenged president on a public forum! |
mkmyers45: We want to avoid plagiarism...Cuddlemii and i will objectively select worthy post without 'ojoro'The more reason why you should adopt the suggestion. It's better for everyone to serve as watchdogs rather than leave it to the moderators. The other day when a political debate was organised, an observant member was able to detect plagiarism in a contestant's post. For the sake of transparency and accountability, let's have the submissions here. I must commend the brilliant idea though. Thumps up. |
