sheweezy: We usually don't have light during the day and when the gen is on by 7pm, dad holds the remote and we start with local news by 7pm, ait news by 8pm, nta news by 9pm, channels news by 10pm and gen is off by 11pm. So annoying only dad watches, mum has given up and plays scrabble on her laptop while I read novel and ping in my room.

Hehehehe...I can relate with this. Here, Gen is on btw 7 and 10, and thruout dad is king, with news and sermons his preferred programmes! We prevail on him occasionally tho, especially where football or series is on.

luluosas: We have a democratic system of remote control in my house because, no one lays/claims superiority over the other but, my children are the real users at times. They will just hold the remote control waiting for the programme we are watching to end and quickly switch it to Kidsco or JimJam.
At times when we shout them down, they ends up crying accusing us of not allowing them to watch their own when we were done with ours, especially the senior boy, who is 5 years plus now.
Brilliant! First democratic system of remote controlling mentioned. Whr are u from? How about marrying one of those kids? I'm just 26 and I can wait...lolz

LCDD: what an interesting thread, but there is a solution. with just one dstv a/c and more tvs in d house u get to watch ur favourites channels at d same time. they charge extra #1,800 monthly in addition to ur chosen bouquet. u dont need another dish but more remote controls and decorders depending on d number of tvs u have.
Really? Very revealing.

osifred: Get yourself a samsung galaxy note 10.1 that has an inbuilt remote control for all types of tv so you can be the commander in chief of the television irrespective of who is holding the follow come remote.

When I go to public places and I don't like the station displaying I use my galaxy note to either change the channel or better still switch it off without anybody knowing.

dabrake: It depends on the oldest person around. For my mum, she watches what she sees but once 9pm reaches she will just tell us to tune to nta news. The good part is that before 9:05(always), she will be snoring so her own don end be that. If my elder sister is around, she will watch whatever she wants and I will just give her that respect. She loves mtv, channelO, trace, sound city, all those kardashaian and the rest of those who wants people know what goes around their homes channels and she drops the remote only when she's tired. I come next, I am the business, science & tech, crime and sport kind of person, my immediate younger sister frequents uniCh, cartoon, E!, style and all those fashion channels, my baby sister is purely african magic while my baby bro is a cartoon, super sport(football in particular), blockbuster movies, science and tech dude. Once, I'm with the remote, I try my possible best to ensure fairness. Everyone will watch his/her favourite channels so they all learnt to deal with it or open their books. Now, we all watch each other's favourite channels. On matchdays, I prefer viewing games in a public gathering. I enjoy hearing chelsea fans abuse torres and benitez. I also enjoy hearing arsenal fans abuse gervinho, ramsey and wenger.
How can u be happy with d downfall of another? Guy, back off before dem head catch u o.

ogbenichoky: Very funny post I must confess... One day, I was engrossed in a talk show on one of those channels that apparently was boring to ma mum and kid sisters, and since no body could blink an eye when the REMOTE WAS IN MA GRIP, they decided to get at me by gisting in a loud tone which was distacting to me. At dat point, I decided to carry out a lil experiment. I fliped the channel to afria magic nd I was amazed at the sudden serenity and tranquility that ensued as their attention was turned to the movie showing on AM... Wots wit women and AM channel sefhuh angryVery funny post I must confess... Ramcie: My mum holds the remote like its her last baby. It can be so frustrating a times cos she shuffles between NTA, AIT, Channels and Silverbird for almost 24hrs. When I complain she would say, as far as am in her house, I should be patient with her and that when I get my own home then I can talk and she would listen cry the annoying part is that, she would be sleeping o! If u attempt to remove the remote from her hands the women go just wake and grab her remote cheesy

She claims I watch only NatGeoWild and that she prefers seeing people to animals . Na my fault say I like documentaries huh

I was just wondering if someone always calls the shot in your house when it comes to holding the remote control and determining which channels to watch. It is certain that we have our diverse preferred channels. For the ladies, its mostly films and music, while the guys mostly opt for sports and politics. Then, you see some fathers, once they are home, listen to news from one channel to the other till they go to bed.
What do you have in your house: a dictatorial or democratic system of remote controlling?

Area_boy: Take your time and read your post again.. Without prejudice this time..

This is the argument against your god and here you come using it in his defense. See why Wiegraf is bashing you about? Your incoherent construction rats you out easily.
It seems you have comprehension problem. I don't have qualms with those who hold that 'chances are that there is no God' My problem is with those who pride in their unbelief of God based on inconclusive evidence and rubbish those who do.
Christianity EtcRe: You're Too Insignificant To Claim There Is No God. by bamto(op): 4:31pm On Jan 05, 2013
lagerwhenindoubt: @OP I have absolutely no problems with your views, it is your ACTIONS I am wary of. Nobody knows everything but to claim with absolute certainty FAITH(Believing in something you know ain't true..) that can truly upturn otherwise good behavior into divisive, hateful, bigoted and violent behavior as noted on this thread grin
What do you mean believing in something I know aint true? What is truth anyway? I guess scientific fact that changes with time is what you call truth.
I don't make a mistake of discussing faith with those who lack understanding of scripture, the very basis of faith. Like I said, I do not equally have a problem with atheists, except the boastful, bashful, arrogant ones.

wiegraf: Stoopid, you can't disprove what's not been proven.

Arrogance doesn't indicate close-mindedness you t.wat. Immaturity and other things? Maybe.

You call me arrogant when you opened this thread calling me a fool? Then again, sheeple are meant to be stoopid so you remain easy to manipulate
What is it you've said now? Smh...

ZIM DRILL: ask anyone is europe
Well, that won't help much. Infact, they tell me just the opposite.
Car TalkRe: What's The Big Deal With Learning Driving Using Auto? by bamto(op): 11:57pm On Jan 04, 2013
billion_man: I learnt driving with an auto tranny and I didn't have any difficulty riding a manual cos b4 I took up a manual I've done done theoretical work on how to drive a manual tranny and watch drivers whenever I sit close to a driver. Now I drive both auto and manual randomly. The truth is that you exert more pressure with the manual especially in traffic. And with the auto, it's like you are too relax while driving and it feels like you are not involved in the control of somethings (guess you know what I mean) like manipulating the gear system to your taste.

Manual cars are not phasing out please. As you rightly said, fish or meat, let everyone enjoy the one he likes most and not despise the other.
You've spoken well. Guess Siena is in a class of his own. I think its just logical to assume using a leg will be less energy-sapping than using both legs. I understand if you want to 'feel' you are in charge and control. That's a different ball game.
As for manual cars being phased out, I believe its so in certain climes. Comparatively too, in most terrains in Europe, don't autos outnumber manual cars on the roads?
Car TalkRe: What's The Big Deal With Learning Driving Using Auto? by bamto(op): 11:50pm On Jan 04, 2013
ZIM DRILL: dont lie to people most car in europe are manuals

its the opposite when you learn to drive with automatic you wont be able to drive a manual but learn to drive with a manual its easy to drive auto the only adjustment is on applying the brakes
Really? Where did you get your statistics from? I'm very much interested.
