Dim08: [s]Thank God your identity is hidden.
Some of your statements require you to be flogged. Sometimes, you write great, other times you write like a wicked, heartless and partisan politician who does not feel the pain and injustice meted at the masses.
Bandits and herdsmen are killing and making the northern states ungovernable but none of their leader has been arrested but down South... People who raise alarm because of perceived injustice are treated unjustly.
Be very careful so you don't cross your boundary. Don't be too sure your identity is not known. If you continue like this, calling black white and vice versa....your sin will soon find you out.
I wish you a regenerated heart[/s]. Shut it fool. |

pansophist: I might not agree with the banning as a measure of reproach, but I wholeheartedly disagree with the deletion of the President's tweet. Freedom of speech simply means that "I may passionately hate what you have to say, but I'll go to hell and back to defend your right to say it".
Also, deleting speech because it doesn't appeal to some peoples feelings is basically a witch hunt, cancel culture, where some e mobs no matter how dumb they are can gather and mass report a post, and twitter will appeal to their emotions by deleting it.
Personally I'll rather prefer to hear what Buhari or Trump is saying, than ban him so I won't hear anything he has to say. I may hate what he says but I prefer to hear it, and if I dislike his tweets, I'll block him myself, don't infantalize me by doing it for me. Freedom of speech also implies freedom after speech, and to some extent, freedom of reach, because what's the point of freedom of speech if no one can hear it, and if I'll not be free after saying it?
Silencing me by deletion will not change my opinion, it will only silenced its reach. Even more scary is the question no one is asking, which is, "who gets to decide which tweets should be deleted"? Does the person's single opinion that is shaped by his/her own worldview more accurate and supercedes that of millions of the President's followers? This is e-tyranny as far as I am concerned. So yes, I support the banning of twitter. Their job is create a platform for people to air their views, not decide which should not be aired. Thank you. It's very hard to find common sense posts on Nairaland, a few bright spots in a dark world. |

IGBOSON1: It's statistics like these that make me give up on Nigeria! Imagine taking from Peter and handing over to Paul....even when Paul despises Peter!
Look at Onitsha, that's the second most populated and cosmopolitan area in Nigeria...the city get's next to nothing by way of federal infrastructure, recognition and assistance! Almost all it's developmental and governance challenges are left to the Anambra state gov't to manage! This is as the evil gov't in Abuja is stealing their hydrocarbons and refusing to recognise them as a oil producing state!
Then there's kano, that has benefited from the ridiculous number of LGAs the northern miliatry oligarchs handed over to them! They also benefit financially from the ojoro census whereby they receive a lot more than Anambra from the federation account! All these are the financial benefits you know and hear of.....over the past decades, the cunning muslim northern rulers of Nigeria have devised many other stealthy ways to greedily corner even more of Nigerias' resources to their region!
Lagos, as we all know, benefited from a lot of federal gov't infrastructure! The present Nigerian political-economy in play has also benefitted them by way of the pre-eminent commercial and industrial status the city holds in 'one Nigeria'! This city, owned and invested in by ALL Nigerians is presently being administratively controlled by just one ethnic group as we speak! When you ask them, they will tell you the capital of the country moved to Abuja since 1991 (i think that was the year) and so you should remove your 'covetous' eye from Lagos because it now belongs to them....and they're even doing you a 'favour' by allowing you to live there! How is Onitsha cosmopolitan? |

10thangel: In developed countries, train is actually cheaper. In 2019 when I travelled to Germany, we buy monthly ticket for 85 euro which was less than 40k per month. The ticket covers Frankfurt and sub region. It also included bus transport fare. I go to Wisbaden everyday from Frankfurt which is about 30 minutes drive and also move anywhere within Frankfurt wether by train or bus.
When you compare what we have with what they have, ours is quiet expensive. You're not supposed to compare our train fare ticket to theirs, you should compare their bus tickets to their train tickets. |

joyandfaith: On Ajomobi/Oyo Apc , he is right. Akala did more projects than Ajimobi 8 years. Though most of Akala projects are substandard. Makinde is constructing more roads than Ajimobi at the present rate. Ajimobi awarded road contract at rate of 500M per km while Makinde rate is around 150M to 220 M per km. Akala awarded road construction at rate of 50M per km. Goodness me, what type of lie is this? No one has done more roads than Ajimobi in Oyo State, ever. |

gidgiddy: Your problem is that you dont know the law. If the South East becomes an independent country, International law allows it to use whatever waterway it has to access the sea. In other words, Nigeria cannot prevent the the South East from having access yo sea through Nigerian territory
Article 125(1) of UNCLOS(United Nations Convention On Laws Of The Sea) says:
Right of access to and from the sea and freedom of transit
Land-locked States shall have the right of access to and from the sea for the purpose of exercising the rights provided for in this Convention including those relating to the freedom of the high seas and the common heritage of mankind. To this end, land-locked States shall enjoy freedom of transit through the territory of transit States by all means of transport.
Nigeria cannot prevent Abia state Azumiri River, or Imo state Oguta River to access the ocean Why don't you quote points 2 and 3 of the said article? You are being deceitful. |
