The Ika people are a subgroup of the Igbo people commonly called the Western Igbo. The Ika people number around 240,000.[1]The Ika people are found in north west Delta State. They share borders linguistically in the west with the Edo speakers, in the north with the Ishan speakers, in the East with the Anioma language speakers and in the south with the Ukwuani speakers.[2] [edit]History 12 clans and a metropolis make up the Ika community Agbor clan, Owa clan, Abavo clan, Ute-Okpu clan, Ute-Ogbeje clan Umunede clan, Akumazi clan, Igbodo clan, Otolokpo clan, Mbiri clan, Idumuesah clan Orogodo/Boji-Boji[2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ika_people Agbor, also known as Agbor Boji Boji, is a town in Delta state, Nigeria. The indigenes of Agbor town are of Ika descent, an Igbo group with heavy Bini influence. Agbor was originally named Agbon a Bini word for "land", until the British anglicized it to Agbor.[1] The people of Agbor have traditionally relied on farming and fishing for their food and commerce. Its history is dominated by the many warriors it has produced. Agbor was once affiliated with the Benin Empire before the British conquered Benin, although the idea of Agbor being a colony of Benin is disputed.[2] The traditional ruler of Agbor is known as Obi. The current Obi of Agbor is Benjamin Ikechuku, Keagborekuzi I who goes by Dein, the name of his ruling house,[3] instead of Obi.[4] [edit]References Ụkwụànì (sometimes spelled Ụkwànì) are an ethnic clan and a subgroup of the igbo people and live in Delta and Rivers states in Nigeria. Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro (September 10, 1938 – May 9, 1968), fondly called "Boro", was a celebrated Niger Delta nationalist and Nigerian civil war hero. He was one of the pioneers of minority rights activism in Nigeria.[1][2] In his autobiography, "The Twelve-Day Revolution", Boro wrote about his early life: "I am reliably informed that I was born at the zero hour of twelve midnight on 10 September 1938, in the oil town of Oloibiri along humid creeks of the Niger Delta. My father was the headmaster of the only mission school there. Before I was old enough to know my surroundings, I was already in a city called Port Harcourt where my father was again the headmaster of another mission school. This was in the early forties. The next environment where I found myself was in my home town, Kaiama. My father had been sent there to head a school yet again."[3] He was many parts and different things to different people - a university students leader, a teacher, policeman and Nigerian army officer. An undergraduate student of chemistry and student union president at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, he left school to lead an armed protest against the exploitation of oil and gas resources in the Niger Delta areas which benefitted mainly the federal government of Nigeria and a remote Eastern Nigeria regional government. He believed that the people of the area deserved a fairer share of proceeds of the oil wealth. He formed the Niger Delta Volunteer Force, an armed militia with members consisting mainly of his fellow Ijaw ethnic group. They declared the Niger Delta Republic on February 23, 1966 and gallantly battled the Federal forces for twelve days but were finally routed by the far superior Federal firepower. Boro and his compatriots were jailed for treason. However, the federal regime of General Yakubu Gowon granted him amnesty on the eve of the Nigerian civil war in May 1967. He then enlisted and was commissioned as a major in the Nigerian army. He fought on the side of the Federal Government but was killed (under mysterious circumstances) in active service in 1968 at Ogu (near Okrika) in Rivers State, after successfully liberating the Niger Delta from the rebel Biafran Forces.[/color] Later Niger Delta activists like the late Ken Saro-Wiwa, who substituted Boro's gun for a pen, and Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, who heads an Ijaw armed insurgency, often referred to him as a major inspiration. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Adaka_Boro |
PLS LETS NOT LET THIS DIE NWOBILO NWANKWO Phone: 0809-086-7484 Ntighauzo Village, Email:nwankwo.obilo@yahoo.com Obingwa L.G.A, Abia State. 7th October, 2010 The President Federal Republic of Nigeria Aso Villa Abuja. Your Excellency Sir, DIABETES CURE DISCOVERY IN NIGERIA, HOW MR. PRESIDENT WAS MISINFORMED AND MY HUMBLE PLEA TO PUT THE RECORD STRAIGTH During the golden jubilee anniversary broadcast, Mr. President announced many achievements made by Nigeria in the past 50 years. Among them, that “Dr. Louis Nelson discovered a permanent cure for diabetes”. With humility sir may I state that the information passed to you is misleading? Dr. Louis Nelson DID NEVER DISCOVER ANY CURE FOR DIABETES IN NIGERIA. The discovery was made by Nwobilo Nwankwo. After the false announcement by National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) in February 4, 2009, I quickly alerted the minister of Health that the claim by Dr. Nelson that he discovered a cure for diabetes is false via a letter written to the Hon. Minister on the 8th day of May, 2009. (See annexure A) Before the false announcement sir, I had already alerted many government organs that NIPRD wants to steal my research work. And after the announcement it took almost the entire energy in me and various petition to the Ministry of Health, National Assembly Committees on health, (both Senate and house) and many newspaper publications, and world press conference as evidenced in (annexure B-D) All these pressure forced NIPRD to forward the draft M.O.U to me to enter into an understanding to protect my discovery. In order to achieve their goal over my discovery which is to steal the property from me, NIPRD included the following conditions in the draft M.O.U Paragraph 8 reads in part “the INSTITUTE shall apply and obtain or cause to be granted and obtained the letters of patent on the products in the name of “the INSTITUTE …”. Paragraph 13 reads in part “the ownership of and right to obtain trade name or trademark and/or registration of designs in any products supplied by the “CONSULTANT HERBALIST” to “the INSTITUTE under this agreement shall be vested in the “INSTITUTE”… Mr. President Sir, NIPRD insist that I must sign this agreement as it is which passed off my property to them and I maintain that I will NEVER sign such. This has been the bone of contention between me and NIPRD since last year which made them to continue to pass the misleading information to everybody including the highest office in the land that Dr. Nelson discovered a cure for diabetes. To cover up their sin, NIPRD recruited staff of the Ministry of health to destroy documents both written to me or the ones I wrote to the Hon. Minister and worse still NIPRD did everything to stop media houses from publishing the story. (See annexure E) May I thank you immensely for your purposeful intervention in this matter which will not only put the record straight but will also bring the new change that will put corruption to shame in the land and bring Nigeria to the part of greatness. Yours faithfully NWOBILO NWANKWO NWOBILO NWANKWO Phone: 0809-086-7484 Ntighauzo Village, Email:nwankwo.obilo@yahoo.com Obingwa L.G.A, Abia State. 7th October, 2010 The Hon. Minister of Information And Communication Radio House Garki Abuja. Sir, DIABETES CURE DISCOVERY IN NIGERIA, HOW MR. PRESIDENT WAS MISINFORMED AND MY HUMBLE PLEA TO PUT THE RECORD STRAIGTH I wish to forward the attached letter written to His Excellence the President of the federation over the incorrect information passed to him on the subject. I humbly appeal to you to use your good offices to intervene in this matter to put the record straight. I thank you immensely for your purposeful intervention on the matter. why not write to sahara reporters they do a good job in reporting such injustice if you are able to convince them its really your invention |
THIS IS FOR ALL THOSE THAT ENJOY OPENING THREADS TO BASH ON THE IGBO RACE , please note it will only make the igbos realise how backward your tribe(thats poster)is and remind them of why they should keep competing with greater and more civilized nations than to be locked in this whole called nigeria with narrow minded people.Thats all i have to say. SMH for nairaland. |
Wislet:speak for yourself ,he mentioned busy graduate and that cud mean anything ,what kind of job is dat 25000 a month? well if it was a good job and he really had prospects then why didnt he marry or angage the girl or at least made himself known to the girl's family so that both families can have an understanding of what is. you cant hold on to someones daughter if u dont even have a plan other than" i love her". he should be specific what his plans for the girl is then maybe we might reason with him. Mrs. Eve:yes we do infact its not goin away even in the far future and if that will keep ensuring our divorce rate will be the lowest in the world and family culture is taken seriously then am personally not complaining. |
Obiagu1:thank you very much you are a wise African man, that is exactly the point i was tryin to make in my thread origin of igbos https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-558492.0.html and some ignorant people are askin me for proof or link to show our ligh skin igbos and other tribes dont have european ancestors. We need to shut up the mouth of the idiots that make up these stories. |

Put that energy on getting a job or improving your career so u too can qualify. |
Abagworo:this is just modern history of igbos it still does not indidcate tue origin , remember when the white men came different igbo groups didnt even know others existed, not matter how different the dialect were from rivers up to enugu to abia and imo they all stilll had the same meanings , same culture ,same market days. My thread focused on why people think we are light skined is because we are mixed this thread does not explain the light skin part which runs accross the various villages of igbo settlement. |
it wont to you cause you have been brainwashed by the white man and western media to believe african have a typical look and any african that have a light skin must be thier descendant. |
dont u guys think its time to give up on PDP and try somethin new after over ten years? |
