Good morning house

Anybody knows how u can get renew my Nigerian passport in Canada, from Winnipeg to be precise

Secondly someone put me through the requirements and procedures to extend ones study permit

Thanks
Re: Passport Renewal

You'll have to take a trip from Winnipeg to the Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa to have your passport renewed. Good thing though, they have revamped their operations considerably over there so you can get your passport renewed in a few hours (usually around 2 hours)

Questions regarding study permits will be best dealt with in the Canada study visa thread. Cheers

Please are residential houses in Toronto or do i look for accommodation in the outskirts of Toronto.
This was not directed at me but here is my input.

There are residential houses in Toronto but be warned the housing market there has been described by many as "fierce". Its rent rates are high and they keep rising and there is a lot of competition. If the logistics work out for you, you may be better off living in the outskirts or neighboring cities. Many of the surrounding cities have good transport links with TO and a lot of people commute there from the outskirts.

Kudos to Justwise for cleaning up the travel section a little; too many suspicious travel and visa agencies popping up all over the place here. Now if only folks on this thread will stick to the topic and not derail with topics that are already being dealt with on other threads. Cheers

Sorry the days of fantasies and Alice in Wonderland are now officially over. The United States middle class is shrinking and it is glaring even in the suburbs for all to see. People who earn $150,000 can't even afford to pay college tuition for their kids in cash and most even refuse to become co-signers on the documents. If making money is the definition of success then Nigeria is a trillion times better than America. In 2017 America almost 70% of the population can't even come up with a merely $400 in an emergency. The painful truth is that no Nigeria traveled to America because of basic amenities it was after we got there and reality sets in that we started consoling ourselves with living in a system that works. An average Nigerian is after money and there is none to pick on the streets of Plano
Where did you get your figures from? Who do you know that makes $150K/yr that cannot afford to pay college tuition for his/her kids? Moreover, the fact that many people opt for financial instruments to pay for college is not a measure of wealth or lack of. The number of American families with incomes over $75K/yr has tripled over the decades so which shrinking are you talking about about?

If Nigeria is a trillion times better than the States when it comes to making money why is the GDP of Nigeria $5,900 compared to the States' $57,300? (using 2016 figures https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2004rank.html). The same Nigeria where it was reported that only a small fraction, just 2% of the banked population, have more than N500K in their bank accounts (http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/2-nigerians-90-bank-deposits-ndic/) Are you referring to the other Nigeria from Alice in Wonderland grin

If you think that the majority of Americans are living from hand to mouth then, like I said, I think you need to expand your circle of friends and acquaintances. The streets are not paved with gold, true, but there is a reason the US remains the top destination for people looking to improve their economic lot.

Different strokes for different folks, I have been in the US for two months on green card and I am already thinking of going back home..

This place ain't no child play, if you have a fairly okay life in Nigeria, you can feed yourself and family, have a roof over your head, then trust me you have no business here..

Mind you I have also been to every reasonable country around the world. So there is virtually anything new anybody can tell me..

Like one poster rightly said, "Poverty is defined by where you live and not by converting currencies."

All I see here is people living from hand to mouth and barely making it. If you come here on a visitors visa and you over stay your visa then say bye bye to your life. Once you get stucked in the system then you ain't getting out of it anytime soon.

Nigeria my beloved country.. I miss you and can't wait to be back in a country where I am a first class citizen
You need to expand your circle of friends, move out from the projects and visit the suburbs grin

Wow this is so serious handcuff but this is unfair
While it is true that you will be asked to provide evidence of payment for your tuition and accommodation the border agents will not handcuff you if you fail to provide said evidence. All travelers must provide the necessary documents before they will be granted entry into Canada if not they will not be allowed into the country. It is only when a traveler is deemed to be a security threat or has broken one of the laws that a handcuff will be used. Some nairalanders can be overly dramatic in this section eh.

Trash.

Attached is a screenshot of part map of Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Look how the lands are meshed together.

Russia in Europe sharing a border with China in Asia.

Turkey in the Middle East sharing a border with Bulgaria and Georgia in Europe.

Afghanistan in the Middle East sharing a border with Pakistan in the Indian sub-continent.

Do you know why Middle East is called the "Middle East" and Asia is called the "Far East"?

Look at the map and be enlightened.

These are the different peoples with varying degree of skin tones and phenotype features occupying one large swathe of land and going by different Demonyms. The Europeans, Semites, Asiatic peoples all share one large swath of land but have different identities.

Yet you with your inferiority complex think the worst when such understandable and reasonable categorizations are made in Africa.

When they divided that swathe of land into different regions, there's no crime. But when it's done in Africa it's a problem.

Look at Egypt sharing a direct boundary with Jordan in the Middle East. Yet you say there's no such thing as North Africa-sub-Saharan Africa dichotomy. So, I'll ask you, are you and the Middle Eastern people the same? Since Africa and Middle East share a direct topographical connection.

All you ignorant illiterate simpletons who don't know anything about history or geography would keep making a fool of yourself.

Also attached is the sculpture of Xerxes I, the fourth King of Kings of the Achaemenid dynasty, Destroyer of Athens, 3rd Pharoah of the 27th Dynasty of Egypt, and Emperor of Persia. Does it mean the Persians were blacks too? Is it not clear they were mixed like the North Africans.

All of you with your inferiority complex. Doing unnecessary attache by force.

It may not be wise to travel months before your resumption as you will most likely be without health insurance during that time. Usually schools provide health cover for international student at the beginning of the semester, I'm willing to bet yours does this too. This is something officials at the point of entry also consider so arriving way too early might raise a red flag.

I think you missed the part where it was stated that the applicant would be deemed inadmissible to Canada if found to have misrepresented facts regarding his application.

This is not a reapplication case as your comment seems to suggest, it goes farther than that. The guy is looking at an almost certain ban on applying to Canada, and by extension pretty much any first world nation, if he does not provide a tenable reason why he misrepresented himself (aka lied)

I don't think many applicants here appreciate the need to be forthright in their submissions regarding visas and the likes and that poster's case is evidence of this sad situation.

to my above bolded,we are concerned and concentrated about the present trend which signifies that masters/phds are 79% winning the case in our analysis except the people who has failed have not put up a commendable application or Canada is not meant for them as God chooses.when the statistic failure balances on every program levels (dip, pgc(d),masters, phd) i will now postulate again that our economic factor has fully come to play.meanwhile students are applying to Australia, Austria, UK, Germany, Spain, France, Luxembourg,Ireland and they are getting the visa. moreover i am not saying PGC(d)/dip is not an academic progression but my energy has been re-channelled to the VOs view on the chances applicable to the level of program you choose.
This may seem extraneous to what is being discussed right now but it is important to note that nowhere in life, whether in present day events or from historical records has there ever been a balance between the different groups or classes that strive towards, participate or dominate in a particular endeavor. That is is to say, with regard to TRV/study permit applications, there has never been and there will never be a time when the different groups of people applying (whether Ph.D, M.Sc or PGD) will get an evenly distributed set of outcomes, i.e approvals or rejections. For whatever reasons one group or set will get a majority of a particular type of outcome.

I say all this because I think anybody waiting for the time when an evenly represented set of outcomes emerges or some equality statistic is achieved so as to justify any action is engaging in a futile exercise. This is all just food for thought. . .

Best of luck in your application though. It is clear that the Canadian visa application process, especially with regard to Nigerians leaves a lot to be desired.

That's the thing with forums like this a lot of misinformation is spread and people fall for it easily.
There was never any report, save for yesterday's, of an Egypt Air plane being bombed by terrorist last year. What was in the news was a Russian plane that was shot by terrorists in Egypt. See http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34840943 and http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3297871/Russian-passenger-plane-220-tourists-board-missing-Egypt-Fears-aircraft-crashed-Sinai-desert.html

You are referring me to Google when that incident never happened.

All of this might seem unrelated to the general theme of this thread but I think the lesson here for readers is to be wary of whatever is said on this forum. Always vet what you read.

Chai Chai Fear of the unknown. I pray you will be delivered very soon. I can never forget what my father told me. He said most time you stay at the river bank shouting, i want to fall inside the water please who will save me, nobody will listen to you but immediately you fall in, you will see people rushing to save you. What i'm not trying to say, in life always learn to conquer your fear. Don't stay in naija n shout is not possible get over there and see how things are done. But remember what applies to A may not apply B. Just be sharp, open your eyes and Pray to your God. Everything is possible if you believe. My guys street is military.
I'm sure you don't realize that you are basically supporting the violation of study permit/TRV stipulations by encouraging people to come into the country to work (under the table type of jobs for that matter) before the main reason for which they were allowed entry in the first place has been effected.

That kind of "smartness" can only take one so far. Foreigners -specifically in this case, Nigerian international students - should always strive to adhere to the laws of the land where ever they find themselves. Trying to game the system because of some immediate and, in truth, relatively minor financial gain is an unwise thing to do.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by Bawss1(m): 3:15pm On Apr 14, 2016
Somebody is busy warning people not to apply via online route because of his own experience. That's so wrong. Applications, whether via online or paper route, are treated on a case by case basis. There is nothing wrong with sending in your application via the online route. Delays may happen that is why people are advised to send in their applications early to accommodate any delays.

Warning people not to apply online is baseless just like the idea that a new set of CIC staff are processing applications. Baseless talk.

I don't get people myself.
Maybe i was not clear in my enquiry.
I just want to know what a letter raising such issues to cic would achieve given the circumstances i mentioned.
For the people talking about loosing my job, in a customer facing role in the bank were a letter can need to be drafted on the fly, a bank allows staff carry letterheads out so long as what ever is drafted is signed by two staff members.
What i don't get is how with the fabled Canadian strictness, even if i wasn't contacted, why the bank was not contacted too?
You can't tell exactly what actions CIC will take after you explain everything that happened to but it won't be far fetched to imagine that your cousin's case and visa may be re-examined in the light of the new revelations. The fact that your cousin was given the visa only goes to show that the CIC methods are unfortunately not as thorough as we all believed.

Again I will encourage you to go ahead and do what you have set out to do, all these people conjuring up all kinds of reasons why you shouldn't report to CIC do not realise that what they are doing is nothing but a sad display of their poor moral standings. Any reader that comes on this thread will notice in a heartbeat how quickly people here call on God's help and grace just because they want something, when it comes to doing the right thing and calling out a wrong deed they are all mute - it is now you hear that this thread is for "success" and not for "pulling people down". For them the so-called success is right no matter if it attained through dubious means. Its all very shameful.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by Bawss1(m): 11:41pm On Dec 20, 2015
@Gunpoint

Do not heed the voice of the posters here telling you to overlook what your cousin did. Some Nigerians have this terrible attitude of excusing almost anything because somebody might make money from it at the end.

Indemnify yourself first. Have a police or court record stating that your bank statements were used without your consent and you are not responsible for whatever may result from the use such documents. It is important you do this.

Write to CIC and explain the matter as succinctly as possible. What ever actions they take is up to them, you have done what your conscience compelled you to do.
