Buhari has from now till the 29th of May to make these kinds of pronouncements. After then the only things that will matter are deliverables. We are about to enter into some very interesting times. |
Nairaland is entrenching itself in the gutters with threads like this. This is shameful. |
EfemenaXY:I can eat this everyday of my life with no complaints. ![]() |
ladymichael:Yes I read a lot. From magazines to opinion pieces to books(fiction and non-fiction). Reading is a habit that will pay off in many ways than you can imagine. Cheers |
oyb:Lol. I know my countrymen, it's very easy for them to get carried away in the moment and lose sight of what is important. This isn't a Nigerian Idol competition, making the final cut isn't all that matters. Real work awaits Buhari and his team and till they deliver all this outburst of emotions is misplaced. |
SIRcumalot:You mean an ending for the books and another for the TV series? To what end? If Moneyallowed's comment is true then I'll be very disappointed with GRRM. I had been wondering how the TV show would deal with Sansa and Petyr Baelish since it had caught up with them in the books. A pity. |
They way people are gushing over Buhari is amusing. Dude has yet to assume office and NLanders are all starry-eyed. The problem with such an attitude is that it sets us up to be easily screwed over again, like we are all drunk on his person and willing to overlook any short comings. This is bad. What is needed now is levelheaded objectivity and not all this pointless sentimentality. Buhari has yet to prove himself, until he does he should be watched with a healthy dose of suspicion. |
What's there to talk about, GRRM might as well have given up on completing the series for all we know. |
ammyluv2002:Will you people stop already. The Almighty is in no way involved in politics or how Nigerians choose their leaders, if He were then we would never have had the likes of Abacha as our rulers. |
lebete3000:Boring ke. Just say you are not a reader. |
Princecalm:China is the most populous nation in the world, what are you talking about? |
Uptown Asian Cuisine ought to be on that list. Obviously the blogger who compiled that list is a newbie in Abuja. |
ladymichael:A large number of their cars are driven by Nigerians. That statement doesn't exclude the fact that some of their vehicles may still be driven by expatriates. However this isn't the crux of the matter; I was calling attention to a wrong. Its OK, will not be pursuing this any further. |

Mr Road Safety, this here is a thread about recruitment. Someone rightly pointed out that JBN, which is one of the largest employers of labour in this country, is currently downsizing because of the difficult economic straits that country is in. Let that sink in for a moment; many people who depend on JBN for an income to feed, take care of themselves, send their children to school, pay for rent and basically live their lives, will no longer be able to do so, at least not with JBN because they have been downsized. In spite of all of this you couldn't resist to get on here and tell everyone how happy you are that the company is facing a difficult time, ergo you are happy that those people will be kicked into the job market, that many roads bridges and other civil infrastructure which you and many Nigerians need will not be built or completed. You even went as far as saying that their expatriate staff kill and endanger the lives of Nigerians (apparently arriving at this from ONE case with which you were privy about). Are we supposed to warm up to you after your comment? (That's rhetorical so you can spare us your rejoinder) |
See a doctor ASAP |
The politics section on NL is a joke these days. One ludicrous story after another as the political parties fight themselves. Many reasonable headed people seem to be avoiding this place because of all this insanity. A pity. |
eagleeyez:What is this one saying? When did any expatriate in JB drive recklessly so as to endanger and kill people? A large number of JB vehicles are driven by Nigerian staff BTW. Typical Nairalander and xenophobia you need to come to terms with the fact that there is no bogeyman hunting Nigerians. |
Cpolicy:Windows 10 will not be "annual licensed". Where did you dig this up from? |
^ Ha! The way you say it like BBC is a parent choosing not to punish an errant child. With Jeremy Clarkson the BBC has been able to make as much as £75m a year from Top Gear. He is their golden goose so it's understandable that he was given a rather long leash. |
koice:Yeah that's true a really long series stands the real risk of losing its focus and audience but I think much of this also depends on the creator of the story George R Martin. He says the story will be complete in the 7th book, so far he has only written 5. The TV series is just rounding up the 3rd book. HBO, the producers and the author will have to decide how this all plays out, it certainly will be interesting to see how they do. |
Aspireahead:Yeah I read the paperback version but I think there's a soft copy somewhere on the interwebs, you just have to know where to look. |
Aspireahead & AnOnimus, you guys should check out this book too: Bawss1: |
plendil:Until we can verify the number of proven rape cases over a period of time we can't say for certain whether rapes have increased. What is only known here is that NL pushes these stories to the front page regularly, that's not an indication that the crime is increasing. This increase in reports may in fact be for strategic reasons. |
cycline404:It will be interesting to know if there really is a spike in the occurrence of these crimes but until statistical evidence is released, from say the police or the courts, (assuming they even document these things) we cannot really know. I think that it's because these events are pushed to the fore by the mods that's why it appears there is an increase. |
Nairaland making sure it maintains its daily quota of rape stories. Click on folks, the more clicks the more cash. |
suxxman:Like Dallas? That would be horrible. ![]() |
There has to be strong evidence to conclude that anybody was indeed raped. Has a medical examiner confirmed these allegations or is the media already passing judgement on a case without due process? People should not rush to any conclusions till these kinds of stories are confirmed medically because it could easily be a smear campaign and men are wrongly seen as guilty until proven innocent. |
A troll thread. A company that is valued at over $700bn is fading abi? OP has just globally displayed his ignorance on trade-in programs in the consumer goods industry. |
atlwireles:The correct expression is "in camera" but the wording on the frontpage says "on camera". The mods should kindly make the correction. Attn: OAM4J |
ikevictor22:Quit hyping Nigerian thieves. |
Just listened to Kendrick Lamar's album To Pîmp A Butterfly. I don't know, this album has yet to stir me. Oh well will see how I feel about it a couple of days from now. |
@ Ollah1. What makes you certain that people (in this country) who are still using the S3 and G2 will upgrade to newer models? I think that if anything we will continue to see the proliferation of brands like Infinix and Tecno and these OEMS have shown that they are not keen on rolling out the latest ROMS on their products. Even the top android OEMS roll out updates in selected batches, there has never been a uniform adoption of the latest update across a particular brand. That there is the android fragmentation that many have complained about and its not going away soon. |
