What Praise is Not Praise is not: · Just singing or music · Just done in Church · Just a warm-up to worship · Mindless · A singsong. · Just a group expression · Only for "happy" people · An optional extra · To satisfy God's ego · Ever to be half hearted · A spectator sport or a performance. · Sporadic or occasional What Praise Is The Bible describes praise in great detail. It gives the many examples from the lives of many saints in the Old Testament and the New Testament. Many songs and words of praise are recorded directly and the benefits and blessings that accrue from this powerful practice are recorded in great detail too. Hebrews 13:15 tells us to offer praise to God continually. When I first read that passage, I thought, "How can anyone praise God continually? Does this text really mean what it says?" In the context the writer to the Hebrews is contrasting the old and new covenants. Under the old covenant the smoke of the Old Testament sacrifice ascended to God continually. Now, under a superior covenant, we too are privileged to offer to God a continuous sacrifice, not for sin, but a sacrifice of praise, and then I saw Psalm 34:1 "I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth." I thought, "But you might go overboard." Then I thought, " Bob, your problem is not in praising God too much,. It's in not praising Him enough!" Praise Is a Sacrifice I realized that feeling or no feelings, with or without goose bumps; God invites us to praise Him.and not just a smattering of sporadic praise, but continuously. It's to be in good days and in bad days, in blessings or in adverse circumstances, during good or bad weather, when I'm exhilarated or when I'm discouraged - even in sickness or in health. I don't praise God for adverse circumstances. God is not the author of evil, but I praise God in adverse circumstances. An Option? Praise is not an optional extra for Christians. Psalm 50:23 says, "Whoever offers praise glorifies me." And so I realized that our praises always glorify the Lord. Some people say, "I praise the Lord in my heart quietly." That's certainly good but God wants us to use our voices to praise Him. Psalm 66:8 says, "O bless our God, you people and make the voice of His praise to be heard." One woman describes an experience of the power of praise during a healing meeting: "While I was worshipping and praising the Lord, I looked up and saw an angel sitting on the ledge of one of the windows high above the pulpit. A little doubtful of what I'd seen, I closed my eyes and began praising God again. A minute or so later I opened my eyes and this time the angel was hovering above the pulpit. He was about seven or eight feet tall with long, flowing robes of a beautiful grayish white color. Although his hair and face were the same color, I could distinguish his features. As I looked at him, he turned to me with an expression that seemed to say, "Watch what we're going to do now!" Then he and several other angels started hovering around the room. They'd go down and then up to the ceiling, then back down again, brushing against the members of the congregation as they praised the Lord. I watched them for a couple of minutes and while they hovered over us I was impressed that they were rejoicing with us as we were rejoicing in God. There was a prophecy after the time of worship that said we had touched God with our praises, and I knew without a doubt that God had blessed me by opening my spiritual eyes to see these angels." Another woman, unaware of what the first woman had seen, said that during the singing of praises she had heard angelic voices joining us in praise. After the praise, the people came forward to testify. Scores of people crowded the area around the podium and told of their healings. A young girl who had vision problems in one of here eyes testified that during the praise and worship time she saw Jesus come to her, lay His hands on her eyes, and heal them. Her healing was verified by her ability to read when someone held a printed page a few feet in front of her. She easily read it, something she said she would not have been able to do before her healing. But the most dramatic healing involved a two year old boy with cancer whose mother said he had never walked more than a few stumbling steps. As tears welled up in her eyes, she placed him on his thin legs, and the audience burst into praise as the child walked across the floor. The entire healing-miracle meeting was a reminder that our praise and worship touch something in the supernatural realm far beyond our understanding - a fact that should encourage us to commit ourselves to praise and worship on a much deeper level than our present involvement. A prophecy during the last session of the meetings challenged the audience not to be afraid to enter this deeper form of praise because it is actually the gate in the King's throne room. Our commission and privilege then is to say with the Psalmist: "Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; sing the glory of His name: make His praise glorious.Bless our God, O peoples, and sound His praise abroad" (Ps. 66:1 - 2, 8 NAS) As we glorify God's name in this way, it will make an impact upon the heavens, and we will witness ever- increasing demonstrations of the power of God in our own lives and the lives of those whom we touch. Psalm 22:3 says, "The Lord inhabits the praises of His people." You know that praise brings the presence of God and God's presence expels Satan's presence. Satan is allergic to praise. It does three things to Satan and evil spirits. · It paralyzed them · It binds them · It banishes them Praise, also, leads to worship. Praise and worship are somewhat different. We are told to, "Enter His gates with thanksgiving, come into His courts with praise." Praise is the entrance way the door to the "Presence". The symbolism derives from the tabernacle of Moses. As we move from the outer court to the inner court and finally to the Holy of Holies, our praise changes to worship and then to sheer Glory and we are in awe of our Lord and Father God who lavished His love upon us by sending His son. Someone said, "You praise until a spirit of worship comes, then you worship 'till the Glory comes . Then you remain in the Glory. Genesis 22 comes to mind. Abraham and his son Issac were making their way up Mount Moriah. He told his servant to wait there...that he and the lad would go and worship. I imagine with tears running down his face but still hope in his heart, he built his altar and worshipped Jehovah. This is the sacrifice of praise. There came a depth of worship in his heart which words could not express but he bowed his heart and will to the will of the Father. This is worship and is arrived at, usually, through praising God for His greatness and His wonderful attributes.. Dear Nairalanders, let's praise God in a little way with our comments |
Sunny_bobo: Buhari is a murderer!!Name one of your family member he kill? |

This should be move to the joke section. Because Nigeria cannot have a relationship status. We have been RAPED by our leaders. Nigeria is an harlot. |
SAI BUHARI... |
ANTECEDENTS OF BUHARI: Buhari is the only good candidate who can transform Nigeria. He has a vision. He saw the problem. He knows the problem. When he was Military, Then, everybody sat tight. Nigeria was taking shape. One naira was just less than a dollar. There was discipline. He introduced WAI(War Against Indiscipline). And there were WAI brigades then, National Orientation agency was functional. Telling the public what is right to do and what is wrong. He banned public place smoking before UK did so. Every home was forced to have a toilet. Every home with dustbin. Places we never thought could be clean was clean in days. If you urinate along the road N50 fine. Mobile court. WAI brigades will make arrest and hand you to police. No bribe along the road Police checkpoints. If you give bribe you are going to jail. If you take it you are going to jail. Your judgement is within days, Not this kind of rubbish. It was the first time waec GCE candidates who were caught cheating went to jail. He had started consulting to introduce payment of certain amount to graduates without job before he was impeached before implementation. Corrupt people who are todays leaders are afraid of him and they will not want him because they all believe they will be jail. NOTE: When he was there our refinery was fully functional, Fuel price BAM low! |
And to all you singers of young president - how many of you voted ur young comrades who contested for the presidency in other political parties to serve as a form of encouragement and also as a testimony of your sincere want for a young president. How many of you belong to a political party or are u dreaming someone will one day knock your door to offer you the candidature of a party? See we should cover our face in shame that the only tin veritable against Buhari is his age and religion - and not that he is corrupt and insensitive to the plight of the masses. Because Buhari is old I should then vote a clueless GEJ cos he is young? Because Buhari is a northern I should then vote the corrupt GEJ cos he is from the south? So because Buhari is muslim I should vote the vision less GEJ cos he is a "christian"? We need to start thinking and acting like people that sincerely want a positive change. It should be progress over sentiments not the other way round...transforming Nigeria atm is not a child's play I beg to repeat! Sai Buhari!!! Insincerity on what we truly want is a major in Nigeria. Is the problem of Nigeria caused by age of our leaders? NO! Is the challenges of our economy a result of an absence in technocrats? NO! Is the problem facing us as a nation and our inability to move forward a direct product of sentiments? YES! Why can't will just for once be reasonable - if age is the magic why then is a young and educated GEJ performing so horribly? Or why is Dimeji Bankole and the rest "youths" embroiled in massive corruption? Any reasonable person who is still thinking freely and not with a bought conscience will attest to the popularity of Buhari and the sincerity of the man's quest for a positive change. When we reason in terms of how old a man is and where he is from rather than the ability to perform then we are indeed our problem. Politics is a game of popularity and numbers - only Buhari can within d frame of two years be sellable cos pushing a new relatively unknown individual as a presidential candidate is a suicide. Age has nothing to do with performance in govt and history has a lot of examples. What we need is progress - sincere transformation and "total" freedom from the bondage of PDP. Our problem is not about age, sex, tribe, place of birth and other trivia tinz - our problem is corruption, greed, insincerity, mismanagement and PDP!!! Buhari is the man! After him a young an vibrant Nigerian can emerge but not now - to clear the rot in this nation atm is not a child's play...Sai Buhari!!! I wonder how age has become a factor for becoming a president. Jonathan who is in his 50's, what has he done so far for the country? what has people like Dimeji Bankole, Farouk Lawan etc who i believe are in their 40's impacted in the lives of the Nigerian youth? Absolutely nothing! Corruption knows no age. Buhari should be given the opportunity to rule this country. Who cares if he is 100years? what Nigerians want is a true leader who will liberate this country from the hands of PDP. |
Oh my God! My taught was that i will see a picture of where Patience Jonathan is carrying a GUN. Well, I'm not so disappointed because she is loaded with grammartic errors to blow them apart... BUT, Dear Nairalanders, please i advice you to look at the academics background of a woman before you marry her. This woman na ERROR for GEJ. |
O’Odua group warns Yoruba leaders against alliance with Hausa/Fulani WITH an accusation that President Goodluck Jonathan was employing divide and rule against the North in order to actualise his ambition, the Arewa elders said Thursday that the region would not support his candidacy for the 2015 presidency. The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) spoke during their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kaduna Thursday to review the year’s events and chart the way forward for the region. In another development, self-determination groups in the South West have urged Yoruba leaders to be more concerned with the restructuring of the country and pay less attention to presenting a presidential candidate for the 2015 general election. The group also warned Yoruba leaders of being circumspect in forming political alliance with any ethnic group that does not believe in the restructuring of the country to reflect true federalism. In a statement in Ibadan on Wednesday, the O’Odua Nationalist Coalition (ONAC) said that winning the 2015 election should less concern the region than restructuring the country. It noted that, “elections are short-term solutions while restructuring of the country offers an enduring solution to the contradictions of Nigeria, a country that continues to stifle the populace.” Meanwhile, the ACF National Chairman, Alhaji Aliko Mohammed, drew attention to the activities of some prominent Arewa elders, Gen. Lawrence Onoja (rtd) and Senator John Wash Pam, who were alleged to have told Jonathan that the North was backing his 2015 presidential ambition. He said: “It is very sad that the Presidency has employed divide and rule against the North. It is very glaring because we noticed with dismay that some members of this organisation have gone to the President and assured him that he must contest the 2015 election. “I am speaking particularly of two gentlemen, Gen. Lawrence Onoja (rtd), and Senator John Wash Pam. We were surprised that really they have gone to see the President. We have gone with Onoja to every meeting we have held, and for him to turn round to say the President must contest in 2015, using the word, ‘must’ is unacceptable.” Besides, they remarked that the divide and rule tactics employed by President Jonathan against the North would be counter-productive to his political interest in 2015. Mohammed warned that the North would not compromise its political interest, as he advised all Arewa leaders: “It is necessary to come together for common vision, goal, strategy needed to negotiate from the position of strength and secure a favourable camp in politics.” However, he urged politicians to adhere strictly to the directives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on issues of 2015 elections, just as he asked INEC to make arrangements to conduct all elections in one day to guarantee free and fair election in 2015. He said: “We have noticed really that for free and fair elections in 2015, we think there should be only one election day. We also feel that it is going to be cheaper.” Meanwhile, a report by the ACF Secretary General, Col. Shehu (rtd), read: “There is nothing much to change in the structure of our federation unless we give in to the short-sighted agitators pressing for the break-up of Nigeria to enable them have resource control.” In a statement by ONAC Assistant Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ayoola Ajayi, the body warned that never had history produced any meaningful alliance between the Hausa-Fulani in North and the Yoruba nation, stating that Chief Obafemi Awolowo did not at any time attempt an alliance with the largely reactionary and feudalistic North. It added: “The alliance of the Yoruba people should be with progressive and pro-restructuring forces in the middle-belt, the South-South and the South-East. The Hausa-Fulani North will forever repel any attempt to restructure Nigeria. Our alliance should not be with feudalists. “More than any time before, Yoruba people must speak up and ensure the race is not sacrificed on the altar of northern political interests.” Nevertheless, it cautioned the Niger Delta on the consequences of supporting a presidential candidate based on sentiment. The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) have dissolved into the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Chairman of the 89-member Merger Committee of the parties, Chief Tom Ikimi, told reporters in Abuja on Wednesday that the merger was in keeping with the conditions for registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He said: “I am pleased to report that we have made appreciable progress. The three parties have fused into one, adopted one symbol, accepted one slogan, a common manifesto and a single constitution.” According to him, the leadership of the merger parties will now pursue the registration of APC with INEC so that the new party will be able to field candidates for the next general elections. Ikimi said the party’s leaders would iron out the issue of interim national officers, as demanded by INEC. He expressed satisfaction with his committee’s assignment since its inauguration on February 6. According to him, the new political association will provide Nigerians with an alternative platform of change if registered. He said the committee, which included factions of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), met consistently to actualise the dream. “The merging parties have held successful conventions in Lagos, Abuja and Guasu. They approved and accepted the name APC, and now these three parties have merged. “We believe that we have completed the assignment that brought us here,” Ikimi said. Four suspected members of a cult group and a security man at a private polytechnic in Ekiti State have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a student of the institution. The rape victim (name withheld), who is an ND 1 student of the polytechnic, told PUNCH Metro at the Ekiti State Police Command headquarters in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday that the suspects stormed her room, tied her up and took turn to rape her. The four suspected rapists are Kunle Aralepo 20, Oluwaseun Akomolafe, 23, who are ND II students of Business Administration and Kehinde Adeyemi and Ayo Olomola, who are on the run. The victims added that one of the boys had asked her out and she refused. She also accused one of the security men in the polytechnic, Mr. Seyi Adanbioje, of raping her the same day at his residence. The victim said the Chief Security Officer of the school directed Adanbioje to take her to police station to make an official report of the rape case. She said after leaving the station, the security man took her to his residence and also forcefully had sex with her. The security man, however, denied raping the female student. He explained that he granted the girl an "asylum" because she said she could not sleep alone in her house. He said, "She could not sleep alone because she was afraid that those who had earlier raped her might come back again." The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Victor Babayemi, who paraded the suspects, said police investigation had shown that rape cases had been rampant at the institution. He said the police were still probing such cases of rape and why they were not reported to the police. Babayemi said the police would thoroughly investgate the fresh rape incident and allow justice to take its course. The PPRO said, "A group of four young men namely, Aralepo Kunle, Akomolafe Oluwaseun (both ND II Business Administration students), Kehinde Adeyemi and Ayo Olomola, aka AY Bishop, who was expelled from the school in March for rape went to the house of a female student of the polytechnic, broke her door to gain entry, tied her hands and legs and gang-raped her. "They also robbed her of her phone and the sum of N5,000.00. A security guard at the polytechnic, Seyi Adanbioje, 28, was also found to be part of the gangsters. He was told to take the girl to the police station and make a report but he took a detour to his house, where he also raped the victim." He said medical report confirmed that the victim was raped. In a similar case, the police said the proprietor of a private primary school, Mr. Ibitoye Babatunde, who was arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old pupil of his school, had a case to answer. Ajibade, who denied the accusation, said a man who saw him while entering into a bush to defecate demanded money from him and he threatened to deal with him if he refused. He said he refused and the hoodlum raised the alarm which attracted a crowd. But the PPRO said the medical report confirmed that the girl's hymen had been broken. The police also paraded two commercial motocyclists (okada riders), who were accused of raping a young lady. The PPRO said the suspect – Babatope and Oluwasusi Tope- gave the girl a free ride and took her to another place where she was raped. In a related development, the police also said that a 17-year-old boy had been arrested for defiling a three-year-old girl. At least 11 persons have been confirmed dead after gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram attacked a secondary school and a military check post in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, military and witnesses said. The spokesman of the Military Joint Task Force, JTF, in Yobe State, Eli Lazarus, confirmed the incident, which took place on Sunday night. The attack was the first in the last nine months in the city, which is now under a dusk to dawn curfew. The attack also comes despite the heavy deployment of soldiers after the emergency rule declaration in the state. Mr. Lazarus said two teachers and seven students lost their lives during the attack on Government Secondary School, Damaturu, while soldiers also killed two of the attackers. Three soldiers were critically injured in the nocturnal clash that lasted over five hours, even as soldiers said three of the suspected Boko Haram members were caught alive and are currently in the custody of the security. A doctor in the city's General Hospital, Salem Umar, told Journalists that eleven corpses were brought to the hospital when he was on duty on Sunday. "We had six other students admitted with various degrees of injuries and they are currently receiving treatment at the Accident and Emergency ward", said Dr. Umar. Witnesses who would only speak on the condition of anonymity told reporters that the gunmen stormed their hostels few minutes after 9 p.m. on Sunday and started shooting. They said scared students were forced to flee for dear lives. "They caught some of our student colleagues and ordered them to take them to the teachers' quarters after which they were also killed thereafter," said one of the students who seemed broken and survived by hiding under a dormitory bed. She looks so much younger! 'A rare gem flying her husband's flag even after his death', that's the description that best suits her. Fifteen years after the death of Archbishop Benson Idahosa, Margaret Benson-Idahosa, the Archbishop of the Church of God International, who She turns 70 on July 29, has remained a symbol of grace and her strides have remained a proof of the power of faith. In this interview, Archbishop Margaret Idahosa who was in Lagos for her annual Christian Women Fellowship International- CWFI, shares memories of her husband and childhood amongst sundry issues. Excerpts: How does it feel to be seventy? You look younger than that to me… I feel the same on the inside of me. Although I cannot jump, dance and move like I used to, I know all of that come with age. One thing I know has been the secret of my peace is the fact that I do not hold grudges against anyone. When you offend me, I open up to you and forgive you. You see, forgiveness is not loss of memory but memory without want of vengeance, and that's what I have on the inside of me because I'm preparing myself for heaven. I've been through a lot in this life and cannot afford to miss heaven. Fifteen years ago, your being handed the mantle of leadership of your husband's church attracted a lot of criticisms from all sides; how have you managed since then? One thing my husband taught me to understand is that people will always talk about anybody as long that person has the breath of God in his or her nostrils. But he always told me: "If you talk back to them, it means you're on the same level." So, whatever anyone says, I commit to God because He put me in this position. When my husband died, I had my own agenda. I have four biological children and three others whom I adopted. I understood I was living in a man's world, so, I began planning how I would manage my life after my husband's funeral. My first plan was to go spend three months with my son in the UK, spend three months with my first daughter and then with my third child before returning to Nigeria because my fourth child was still schooling at home. My plan was to travel round to my children's places and maybe come to Nigeria once a year to see my mother and others. The ministry was not in my agenda. So, when I was put in this position, I cried to God about how timid I was and how male dominated the world was, but God did not answer until I had made up my mind. He said to me: "Margaret, I'm not moved by tears or your needs, but by faith. If your faith says yes, I God will not say no". I therefore began building my faith by reading books, praying, acting and all. One day, He spoke to me again, saying, "If I made the appointment, I will release in you the ability to perform and excel". That he has actually done all this while. If you look at the Church of God Mission, you'll find that I'm not the best preacher. There are some that are fire-brands and whose sermons could make the heaven kiss the earth. But God has been gracious to me. Rev. Idahosa At this point, do you feel fulfilled? I feel fulfilled in the sense that I'm doing what God asked me to do. I feel fulfilled because I'm not copying anybody. I feel fulfilled because my children are all in the ministry. I have seen some pastors praying for their child to come to God, but I look at my children and glorify God because they discovered God on their own; not because of whom their father was or what I have done. They discovered God by themselves, and that's the most precious thing God can do for a preacher; for the children to discover the God of their fathers and stand firmly to defend that God. I'm confident that even when I'm no longer here, they can stand until Jesus comes. What went through your mind when your husband passed-on; didn't you feel like suspecting anyone because of the suddenness? We both went to the United States but on our way back, he told me to go visit the children in the UK and take care of their fees. Two days after, I was told he passed-on! It was a big shock! Early in that year however, sometimes in January, he told me: "Margaret, I now live for posterity, not prosperity, because I have all I need. Now, I live for people and what I can be remembered for." I was dazed and advised him to go on vacation for a rest. In February which was his 40th year into the ministry, he called me and said: "Margaret, I think I have finished everything God asked me to do". I argued with him that one does not finish the work of God, but later in February, he repeated it again, and I became more worried because I believed God promised old age. He was supposed to be 60 in September that year and I didn't want to agree that he was going to leave at that age. He passed on March 12. It was when I came to terms with the news of his death that I remembered he had said it earlier. What do you miss about him? Everything; his care, concern, love, messages, standing for people and the nation. I miss everything about him. What attracted you to him? I'm an only child and I was always fighting in the streets and at school. My mother made new uniforms for me almost every month because my uniforms always got torn after every fight. I actually stuttered and because I could not express myself, I got used to using my hands (fighting). My husband was living in the neighbourhood and would always come to settle my fights and counsel me against fighting. But as time went on, I took him as a brother because I had none. I even went as far as trying to choose a wife for him amongst my friends; but he told me he didn't want a wife. I actually didn't see anything in him; he had only a bicycle and was living in a rented room and parlour apartment. But I just liked him because he stood by me as a brother(I actually referred to him as bro), especially whenever I entered into trouble on the streets. He came eight years after to say he wanted to marry me, and when I finally accepted, we settled down. At that time he was a deacon. You were relatively young when he passed on .What effect did it have on you? My husband departed this world when I was 55 years old. Today I am 70 years. God has helped me since my husband passed on; I have never lust after any man. I had my husband and enjoyed him. It is now time to focus on God's assignment than re-marrying. There have been men who wanted my hand in marriage, but I declined. Some would say, 'Mama, you are looking good'. I always tell them, 'thank you', and that the way they see me has been through the backing of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that rejuvenates me. If you believe in the Holy Spirit, He will rejuvenate you. You are the Chancellor of Benson Idahosa University. How have you been able to successfully run the university and manage church affairs Running a university is not an easy task. When my husband died, the university was not fully accredited then. We had to work on our programme. We were able to comply with rules, regulations and policy of the National University Commission. The university was approved by the Federal Government in 2002. For a state to even run a university, it is not an easy task, not to talk of an individual. We thank God that the foundation of our university is based on God .When God gives a vision, he will also make the provision. We want to thank God that the foundation of our university is based on God. Is it Biblical for women to lead a church the same way men do? God is not mad at men and women according to Gen.1:28-29,men and women were created by God ,God gave both of them authority; not the man alone, to go and dominate and multiply. You can multiply by the Word of God or biologically. It is religion and tradition that relegated the woman. The mind of God is that men and women work together amicably. Before God ,there is no difference but, traditionally, we have difference. If a man can fulfill the gift in him from the foundation, why can't a woman as well? God has called the man and the woman. So, God is not mad at the man preaching and the woman also preaching. The Restoration Center ,which is the Christian Women Fellowship International, was ordained by God. If God gives you a vision, He will bring people around to provide for the vision. God has been very faithful. When He gave us the name, He did not tell us the ups and downs on the way. Everyday when we come together as a body to worship, God opens a little more about the vision. We have trained many women and empowered them. What informed the establishment of Word of Faith Group of Schools? How do you react to the opinion on the establishment of schools by churches as an avenue to make money? It is true that Word of Faith Group of Schools is owned by us and it is a fact that money is coming in from it now. But don't forget that before we established it, funds were injected into it. We spent money to build the school, paid teachers and provided incentives to the management in one way or the other. We laboured to put the school in shape. It is just now that money is coming. But the purpose of establishing the school is not to make money but to train children from the cradle. Benin was not what it is today. At that time, it was called the City of Laws. If a native doctor told you to fulfill an appointment by 2pm, you had to be there. When the real gospel came, we let men and women know that God is not a killer. God wants you to give your heart to Him and He will protect you and your children. We have seen a lot of changes. Then, I looked at our children and told myself that, in 20 years time, our children should be able to contribute their quota to the development of the nation. This informed my vision to establish Word of Faith Group of Schools. I think it is better that we have the spread of schools than spreading the gospels of Sango, Ogun, Orunmila. When a child is developed mentally, he or she can become anything in life. So, our school is Christian-based. Whatever comes from the school is invested in the ministry. One can see you functioning as a full-time minister of the gospel and a mother at home, two poles apart. How have you been able to cope especially as a widow? I am able to function because I work with a team of men and women who believe in the vision that God has given to us. As you said, we have churches, schools, a university, a Bible school, a hospital and international leadership institutes. By the grace of God, any moment from now, the churches will have different bishops. I have one of the bishops seated with me here. He is in charge of our finance and budget. So, I don't have to disturb myself on that. He is specially trained for that purpose. The bishop in charge of administration is also here. He directs the affairs of the church. We have different bishoprics; so I don't have much to do. It is once every two, three months that we come together to rub minds on our strengths and weaknesses and how to improve and move to the next stage. I believe strongly in team work. Everything we have today is as a result of team work. I have an office in the church. I do my work; when it is time to go home, I go and do domestic things. For example, I have a baby who is my seventh grand child. When I was ready to come to office for this interview, the mother, my daughter, came and said she brought the three-month-old grand child to play with me. I told her I was going to office for an appointment with journalists. That is why I came a little bit late. And soon as I am through here, I am going back home to attend to the grand child. So, you can now see that when I am home I am a mother and grandmother. I don't allow the work of the ministry to bog me down as a mother at home. What do you cherish most as birthday gift? Last month, we had a Council of over 300 pastors meeting. I overheard them making big plans for me but I told them I would be 70 years. Number one, I don't need a husband. I had one, I enjoyed him. Two, I don't need biological children again. God gave me seven children. I don't need a house because I live in a palace. To maintain the house per month costs more than 50,000 naira. One thing I want as birthday gift is how to move Benson Idahosa University from the temporary site to the permanent site and I believe with the support of all of you this will be achieved There is a saying that women are to be seen and not to be heard. What is your opinion and what really equipped you as a successful female minister? Women to be seen but not to be heard is an old adage. We let women know that they must be seen and they must be heard. However, I am not asking women to usurp authority of men because God made the man the head of the home, if the head of the home is acting in terms of the provision, caring, educating, etc, there is no need for the woman to usurp his authority. But that which God has embedded in you is important. God put you there for your home the and others around you in the community to enjoy you. Don't die with the gift which God has given you. Do your bit at home, do what your husband loves you doing. But do not die with the gift which God has given you. Myler Monroe said there is a place on this planet earth that is very rich which is the cemetery, retains gift that were buried and songs that were never sung. The source of my success is God, the Holy Spirit. The first thing I do every moning is to sing love songs to God. He rejuvenates me. It is not that I don't have challenges but I don't allow the challenges to weigh me down. So I preach to women, don't let problems overwhelm you, dominate problems. Source: m.naij.com/news/37298.html

Governors Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and his Plateau State counterpart Jonah Jang, are poised for a fresh test of their claim to the leadership of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) after Jang summoned a meeting of the governors He wants them to discuss the stalemate over the monthly Federation Account Allocation. State Commissioners for Finance had walked out of the FAAC meeting on Thursday in Abuja. Jang is disputing last month's election of Amaechi for a second term as chairman of the NGF. The Rivers governor defeated Jang by 19 to 16 votes. Jang, however, insists that he emerged by consensus having been endorsed by the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF). Investigation by our correspondent revealed that the pro-Jang forces in the presidency are taking advantage of the governors' desire for cash flow to encourage the Jang faction to summon a meeting of the NGF. It was gathered that the forces in the presidency designed the plot to prove that Jang is actually in control. The factional meeting is also meant to finally determine the loyalty of the 23 PDP governors by the presidency and deal with the rebellious ones. But pro-Amaechi governors have made up their minds not shun the meeting because Federation Account Allocation Meeting is not within the purview of the NGF. Findings have also confirmed that President Goodluck Jonathan may receive the Jang faction in audience on Monday under the pretext of seeking the NGF's position on the revenue sharing crisis. A source said: "The Presidency wants to use Jang faction's meeting to prove that it is backing this camp. It is obvious that the meeting is at the instance of the forces in the Presidency. "They are desperately trying to secure the presence of at least 20 governors at the meeting because they were hurt that only 16 governors attended the inauguration of Jang faction's secretariat of the NGF in spite of the alleged claim that Jang won the election. "They have not been able to get up to 18 governors as at press time to undermine Amaechi. But they are unrelenting in their plot. They said they are out to seal Amaechi's fate. "For PDP governors, especially those from the North, it is a booby trap to test their loyalty and determine who they voted for at the NGF election. "This will enable the PDP leadership to deal with them including the hijack of the party structure from the rebellious governors and their godfathers ahead of 2015 poll." A governor, who spoke in confidence, said: "As part of the secret agenda of Jang's meeting, the factional NGF will later be hosted by Jonathan in order to confer legitimacy on Jang's leadership. "Already, governors in Jang's camp are aware of the plot to visit the Villa on Monday for legitimacy. The itinerary is known to only a few strategists of Jang. But the governors loyal to the authentic chairman have vowed not to attend the session convened by Jang. Another source added: "They are joking, they will fail in their bid to give NGF leadership to Jang through the backdoor. "Most of us will stand by the mandate we have given to Amaechi because he was duly elected. We will make sure they do not have the number. They want to be defeated the third time." No progress in health, family moves to bedside SOUTH AFRICA has stepped up security at the hospital where former President Nelson Mandela is hospitalised. On Tuesday, armed security operatives stood guard outside and incoming vehicles and pedestrians were searched amid a heavy media presence. Mandela shows no sign of improvement as he battles a lung infection in a Pretoria clinic where he was admitted four days ago. A report by Agence France Presse (AFP) quoted a statement by President Jacob Zuma as indicating that the anti-apartheid icon remained in “serious but stable” condition while being treated in intensive care. Amid the growing fear about the 94-year-old’s condition, family members were seen entering the Mediclinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria to be at his bedside. Around a dozen armed policemen stood guard outside the Mediclinic Heart Hospital in the capital where the 94-year-old remained in “serious but stable” condition. Mandela, one of the greatest figures of the 20th century, is being treated for a recurrent lung infection that medical experts said could be life- threatening. Tuesday marked 49 years to the day since he was sentenced to life in prison in 1964 for conspiring to overthrow the apartheid government. Mandela spent much of the subsequent 27 years behind bars on wind-swept Robben Island, near Cape Town, where he contracted tuberculosis. His latest health scare has been met with prayers and a growing acceptance among South Africans that their hero, who became the first black leader of the country after historic all-race elections in 1994, may be nearing the end of his life. In Pretoria, police cordoned an area in front of the private specialist facility. “They are there to protect the members of his family who come to visit him,” a police sergeant told AFP, asking not to be named because Mandela’s location has not been confirmed by the government. On Monday, the arrival of his former wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and the couple’s daughter, Zindzi, prompted a scuffle between security and photographers camped outside the clinic. Madikizela-Mandela became a global political figure in her own right while campaigning for her husband’s release from prison. His current wife, Graca Machel, called off a trip to London last week to be with her ailing husband . Little information has been released about Mandela’s condition, but he has a long history of lung problems since being diagnosed with early- stage tuberculosis in 1988. It is the fourth hospital stay since December for the Nobel Peace Prize winner and father of the “Rainbow Nation”. Two months ago Mandela, who will turn 95 next month, was discharged following treatment for pneumonia. In December, he underwent surgery to remove gallstones as he recovered from a lung infection. In March, he was admitted for a scheduled overnight check-up before returning later that month for 10 days. “Pneumonia is a killer disease,” said Prof. Keertan Dheda, the head of pulmonology at the University of Cape Town. “In Mr. Mandela’s case, besides age, we know that he has previously had tuberculosis and that can weaken the lung defences and make one more prone to infections,” he said. “Secondly, we know that Mandela worked in the quarry on Robben Island for many years and he has been chronically exposed to dust, from crushing rocks and we know that also is a potent suppressor of your efficient lung defences.” But Dheda said assurances that Mandela, once a spry boxer, was breathing on his own indicated that the infection had not yet led to serious lung failure . Access to the revered statesman has been restricted to close family members. In late April, Zuma and top party officials were photographed with an unsmiling Mandela looking exceedingly frail at his Johannesburg home. The visit prompted allegations that the embattled ruling party was exploiting Mandela for political gain. The ANC - facing 2014 elections - has lost much of its Mandela shine amid widespread corruption, poverty and poor public services. Mandela has not been seen in public since the World Cup final in South Africa in July 2010, and has not been politically active for years. “I think there will be concerns from outside South Africa that Mandela is seen as the glue that holds South Africa together,” analyst Daniel Silke told AFP. “But I think that this is something long gone frankly.” After serving just one term as president, Mandela turned his energy to the battle against AIDS and to conflict resolution, before stepping out of the public eye a decade ago at the age of 85. His hospitalisation has prompted an outpouring of well wishes from around the globe, including from fellow Nobel Peace Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu. “We offer our thanks to God for the extraordinary gift of Mr. Mandela, and wish his family strength,” Tutu said in a statement from his foundation. “As the beloved father of our nation... once again endures the ravages of time in hospital, our prayers are for his comfort and his dignity. Lagos State Governor Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has signed the state's Cremation Bill into law. While signing the bill on Monday at Lagos House, Ikeja, the governor explained that the cremation law is voluntary, adding that its enactment showed how the concept of globalisation has taken its roots in the state. Fashola said, "We commend members of the state House of Assembly for responding to global yearnings. Their zeal in passing the bill also shows that cremation is the best way to go." Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, said the law only provided for voluntary cremation. He said, "It is voluntary in the sense that it allows for voluntary cremation, whereby a person may signify interest to be cremated when he dies or a deceased's family members who must attain the age of 18 years can decide to have the corpse cremated.
