muykem: Dear Anichebe,
Thank you for your feedback. Actually, I am not Yoruba. And Yorubas are not dogs. Very far from it. Yorubas are unique people. They have an ethnic trait of being able to read others nonverbally. Especially if they are eyeball to eyeball with you, it is a gift of God that is in their DNA and has helped them in their interpersonal relationships, resulting in them being the most successful Black African ethnicity on Earth. They understand others. They are not like some, who make little attempt to understand others, yet want to be understood.
I have travelled the whole world, and the only African culture that survived and thrived in the Americas, despite the trans-Atlantic enslavement of Black African peoples, is Yoruba culture.
For example, believe it or not, Ifa Babalawo is one of the fastest growing religions in the Americas right now. It is the meat of the religion now known as Santeria. 5 million Americans in the United States are adherents of Santeria. And Babalawo shrines are all over states like Florida. They do not hide it.
Yorubas generally have affable, pleasant and charming personalities as another ethnic trait. They are not known to insult others without cause or provocation, and they display tolerance, which is why they have the most peaceful and prosperous zone in Nigeria, where other Nigerians thrive in ways that they cannot succeed in their home regions.
Anichebe, do you think dogs can produce the first Black African Nobel laureate for an academic category (Wole Soyinka), and the first Black African military ruler to have voluntarily handed over to a civilian President (Olusegun Obasanjo), as well as the first person born and bred in Africa to have won a Pulitzer Prize (Dele Olojede)?
If it is that easy, why haven't others achieved it?
There are an estimated 15 Black African billionaires on Planet Earth. Five are Yoruba (Otunba Mike Adenuga, Femi Otedola, Tope Awotona, Kase Lawal, and Bayo Ogunlesi). More than any ethnic nationality in Africa.
US President Joe Biden named a Yoruba man, Adewale Adeyemo, as deputy Treasury Secretary. This is the highest position a Black African has been appointed (not elected) in US history. And Kemi Badenoch, a Yoruba, almost became The UK's Prime Minister, and is now a UK cabinet minister. Another Yoruba man, Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye, became the first person on Earth to successfully perform surgery on an unborn baby, by taking out the foetus from its mother’s womb and replacing it back after the surgery.
Unsurprisingly, all of Nigeria's Grammy Award winners have been of Yoruba descent, except Burna Boy, including:
Sade Adu (1986), Babatunde Olatunji (1991), Sikiru Adepoju (1991) and Seal (1996), Burna Boy (2021), Wizkid (2021), Temilade Openiyi AKA Tems (2023).
And Anichebe, don't forget that the man who will preside over the appeal of your beloved Peter Obi is also a Yoruba dog. Let us see how he likes your description of him and his ethnicity.
In conclusion, it is a compliment to be called a "Yoruba dog," and I thank you. D ass leaking frm reno is getting out of hand.i mean u can show support for tinubu without necessarily praising yorubas at every opportunity. And NO i disgree that d south weat region has more infrastructure. Ibadan n Ogun share boundary sit Lagos n still mothing.Lagos is d only place in south west wit xcellent infrastructure by n dats becos for decades it hard special status jst as abuja has today so therefore ,sw states hav no significant infrastructure especially wen compared northern states |

Politics › Re: Finally Leaving Nairaland For Good! by bdon12: 12:03pm On Sep 10, 2023 |
ch3ckm8: I’ve been a registered member of Nairaland since 2008 and before then, I had been a visitor for over a year. Nairaland used to be a great place to be. There was a time when. Is was kind of prestigious to let people know you’re a Nairalander. It was a place of knowledge; a place you could find someone with the answers to practically anything in life. People got jobs through Nairaland, people were able to travel out of the country without the help of agents through nairaland, people started new businesses, got into farming, transacted businesses with people they hadn’t seen, just to mention a few. Till today the old threads are still a wealth of knowledge and information.
Nairaland was a place where people argued and exchanged ideas in a very civil manner. You hardly see insults or tribal slurs thrown around but today, it’s a totally different case. Practically every thread is derailed with tribalism and insults. Hardly any respect for each other especially given that it’s an anonymous forum and you likely do not know who you’re talking with. Nairaland has never been more politically and tribally divided. Even though this is likely a reflection of the country we have today, but it’s a forum with rules. So I can not see why people will act in any manner they please without any punishment.
I was really happy when I saw a thread by Seun condemning and banning the use of ethnic slurs but that has hardly changed anything. I still can not understand why Seun has allowed Nigeria’s number one forum go down in this manner.
Well I wish you all the best and those of you who are very good at insulting for no reason, you can go ahead and insult me for opening this thread. The good thing is that I will not see it as I’m signing off for the last time.
Good bye and God bless. This started immediately tinubu initiated d yoruba ronu in Lagos during election.then d illiterates yoruba youths that cldnt understand they were being used by politicians to fight d only tribe they naturally inter marry wit in nigeria.lackbof wisdom sha na im cos am.bt yes lagoa governorship election brought this, assault on igbos in lagos worsened this. Like i early predicted months ago before election that this hate n tribalism started by yoruba youths in lagos wont end after election...well i was totally right.d two closely related tribes in Nigeria are now against each becos of politicians |

Politics › Re: See Reasons Why Peter Obi Must Not Go To Supreme Court by bdon12: 11:19pm On Sep 09, 2023 |
nikky5: Peter Obi is no doubt a good man in character. I like him for his humility and civility. The fact remains that politics is a game of numbers and a winner must emerge. Obi changed the narrative of the political landscape in Nigeria. It's rather unfortunate that he lost the 2023 Presidential election.
The PEPT judgement on his petitions against the incumbent president also affirmed that Obi actually lost the election with a distant third position. But that's not the end of the world. He needs to accept the verdict and congratulate Asiwaju. That will be a demonstration of good sportsmanship.
Obi must not proceed to the Supreme Court for redress if he wants to remain relevant in Nigeria politics. If APC had fielded Osinbajo, he would have been nowhere. He was able to garner support of Nigerians because of APC Muslim Muslim ticket.
Barely 72 hours to the presidential election, all his 36 states chairmen had told him that he cannot win the election. He lost.
If he goes to the supreme Court to seek his lost but not stolen mandate, he should expect the following:
1. He will surely lose. He has no chance of winning or reclaiming a lost mandate. He will end up wasting his time and money.
2. Labour party has welcomed the judgement of PEPT on Obi's petition. His part knew he cannot win the case. I foresee Obi leaving Labour party.
3. Obi may retire from partisan politics because he may no longer enjoy the support of Labour party. The PDP and APC may not welcome him.
4. As a result of his imminent defeat at the Supreme Court, the obidients will lose their support base especially those from the south west and North Central.
Now, let's ask ourselves this all important question, is politics a do or die affair? I tink he should go,d judiciary is a joke right mow.supreme court being d highest in d land need to clarify tins |
