211 Ugandans, living in Sudan have been evacuated successfully from Sudan using UGANDA AIRLINES.

The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) has been receiving cowardly, life-threatening, and distracting calls from agents of professors and others alleged to have been involved in the armada of electoral fraud that characterized the “2023 Presidential, Senatorial, and House of Reps, Governorship and State House of Assembly elections”.

There are also commendation calls to us within and outside Nigeria thanking us at Intersociety for being resilient and resolute in our advocacy activities geared toward deepening democracy, rule of law, and human rights in Nigeria or any part thereof.

Several calls have been coming to us in torrents from persons or agents suspected to be holding brief for the alleged poll manipulators by threatening the lives of our principal officers unless we ‘withdraw the statement against their principals capable of denying them western visas, international exchange programs and other international border engagements especially Europe and North America.

The worst part is that 80% of the callers have no iota of remorse for what their principals have done (collectively partaking in the rigging of the 2023 polls); to the extent of exonerating their principals and blaming their dark roles on ‘Nigerian bad leadership and corruption’.



Setting The Record Straight

Intersociety had in its special report of 26th March 2023, invoked a doctrine of ‘collective responsibility’ after it had thoroughly investigated and identified various collective negative roles played by the 88 expert individuals including 54 serving and retired university professors and 34 others in the 25th Feb and 18th March polls.

Their collective responsibility roles are in three categories of direct, conspiratorial, and vicarious liabilities. While 84 of the listed expert individuals were found to have shared collective responsibility in the alleged rigging, only four expert individuals were singled out for exemption and celebration as ‘heroes of Nigeria’s Democracy 2023’.

It must be clearly pointed out that nowhere in the statement did Intersociety apportion ‘individual responsibility’ to any of the listed 50 professors/vice-chancellors or any of the 34 others or hold any of them individually responsible or liable. The new Executive Council (Exco) of the Lagos State Chapter of the Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo and the Ndi-Eze held a meeting on July 31, 2022, in the Ogudu area of the state.

Hosted by a philanthropist, Mr Don Chris, Onyekachi Simon, the meeting was a call for statesmanship and mutual cooperation among members of the Chapter.

Mr Don Chris, Nwa-afor Enugu, the original Enugu State son, is the Managing Director, Softran System Enterprises Limited, and Chief Executive Officer, Total Value Integrated Services Ltd, a conglomerate involved in Real Estate development, construction and civil engineering contracting works.

The apex Igbo social-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo has rubbished the report about disowning the embattled former senate president, ike Ekweremadu and his wife over the alleged organ harvesting case.

Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested by the Uk Metropolitan Police in London for allegedly facilitating the travel of a younger boy identified as Ukpo Nwanmini to the UK, with the intent to have his organ harvested for his ailing daughter.

In a statement on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, the group said it’s their duty to stand with their own, especially in times of difficulty and it is not in their character to be hasty with statements over issues without insufficient facts.

While expressing concern for the Ekweremadu’s travails, Ohanaeze urged the imposters and pretenders to desist from reckless and unguarded statements that portray the Igbos in a bad light.

The Microblogging agencies operating in the country have been given an operating code.

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and others were handed the code by the Nigeria National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

The code was formulated as part of the agreement after the face-off between Twitter and the Federal Government.

The code also contains terms of operations for their operations as Interactive Computer Service Platforms and Internet Intermediaries.

The conditions include registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the appointment of a country representative and compliance with all tax obligations.

The code and conditions were released by the Nigeria National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

The code was necessitated by the Federal Government/Twitter faceoff over a year ago.

The row began when Twitter deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s comment on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the Southeast. Buhari had in the tweet, said that separatist agitators would be treated in the language they understand.

The government took offence at Twitter’s actions and accused Twitter of double standards. It said that the same platform was being used by IPOB to cause disaffection amongst the people and abuse its officials.

The government consequently suspended Twitter operations in Nigeria. Following leading public outcry, the government opened negotiations with the microblogging platform and promised to come up with a code to guide the operations of such sites in the country.

Google has announced that Nigerians have surprisingly shown a growing interest in the holiday of Halloween, in search record.

Google, in its October report, said that search queries in the week leading up to October 31, shows that search terms like, ‘When is Halloween?’, ‘Halloween meaning’ and ‘History of Halloween’ topped searches by Nigerians.

Halloween, regarded as a Western tradition, is celebrated each year on October 31 in the United Kingdom (UK), Ireland, Scotland, United States of America and various other European countries.

Nigeria is made up of several ethnic groups among which the Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Fulani, and Tiv belongs to the well-known tribe. Tribes like, Koma, Jibu, and Kambari who don’t wear clothes in these modern-day civilizations are still Nigerians;

There are a few primitive tribes among which is the Koma ethnic group and the Jibu tribe. The Koma people are relatively hilled dwellers and still practice nudity in this age and civilization.

The people only became Nigerians after Nigeria independence in 1960. The people were distributed in the Cameroon-Nigerian border with over 21 villages in Cameroon.

However, they were recognized as Nigerians in 1961. Today, Koma is part of the seven districts of Jada Local Government Area in Adamawa state. They live in hills discovered by a serving youth corps member in 1986.

Koma people are located in northern Adamawa, a state in the Atlantika Mountain which shares a border with southern Cameroon. As a result of this, the people are distributed both in Cameroon and Nigeria.

There are 21 Koma villages on the Cameroonian side of the Atlantika Mountain and 17 villages on the Nigerian side.

The people are divided into three major groups, there are the hill-dwelling Beya and Ndamti, and the Vomni and Verre lowlanders.

The Koma people also have their own language, which is known as Koma. They have an estimated 61,000 speakers. The language is part of the Niger-Congo family.

The people are committed to their traditional culture. They still dress like their forefathers to date; the men wear loincloths and the women wear fresh leaves.

Some of their men adorn contemporary clothes but the women stick to nudity and leaf-wears (tied around the waist).

They live in mud shacks with palm fronds roof, clothe themselves with sparse green leaves from trees, uses goat faeces and other farm produce as a food seasoning and also smoke wild grasses for relaxation.

They live on the hilltops, far away from civilization and It can take you about 6 hours to climb from the foot to the hilltop where they reside.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is planning to introduce Road Infrastructure Tax to generate funding for road construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and security, the agency’s Executive Chairman, Muhammad Nami, said Thursday.

Mr Nami’s aide in charge of media and communication, Johannes Wojuola, quoted him as saying this while receiving a delegation of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, at his office in Abuja.

The NUJ delegation, according to Mr Wojuola, was led by its National President, Chris Isiguzo.

Mr Nami said the proposed tax was the only way to make the informal sector contribute to building a modern society.

“The only way to make the informal sector contribute to building a modern society is by making them pay when they use the roads.

“That is why we are proposing that government should consider introducing Road Infrastructure Tax in Nigeria,” he said.

He noted that “in many jurisdictions, road users pay for the use of road infrastructure as such it shouldn’t be seen as an additional burden on our citizens because it has the potential of making life better for all of us.”

He added that the Nigerian economy now “heavily relies” on non-oil revenues to discharge its statutory responsibility of paying salaries and providing social amenities to the citizenry.

“Without the tax that you pay governments at all levels would not be able to fulfil their mandate to the electorates. Tax money also helps to ensure the roads you travel are safe and always in good condition,” he said.

FIRS Proposes Road Infrastructure Funding Scheme For Nigeria

The Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, says it is proposing the introduction of Road Infrastructure Tax in Nigeria, to make the informal sector contribute to building a modern society.

Executive Chairman of FIRS, Muhammad Mamman Nami, disclosed this on Thursday while receiving a delegation of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, led by its National President, Chris Isiguzo, in his office, in Abuja.

Nami said the proposed Road Infrastructure Tax to be administered by FIRS, will provide the government with adequate funding for road construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance, as well as providing the needed security for roads in the country.

According to the FIRS Executive Chairman, “The only way to make the informal sector contribute to building a modern society is by making them pay when they use the roads.” He stated.
