Olaolufred: beaf, I do not have argument that ndu chucks is a Fulani man. But do you think I will take that without a proven proofs? These schools are a fantastic campaign passmark, bro. Others will follow, cos GEJ means well. My only fear is the policing of the idea behind the schools, so that it remains on course, protected from the wicked elite who enslaved the kids in the first place. Once that is achieved, 90% of the security problems and poverty in the North would have been kicked into the tall grass. |
Nah. Makes sense that oil isn't growing. Isn't as if production is increasing (and really, there are limits to how much it could anyway due to OPEC), or additional major value is being added down the chain. If anything, Nigeria is probably producing less oil than its peak (speaking of which what was its peak production? 2.5 mil?)
Check our oil production levels over the past two years. Barrels per day growth for the period can be described as steep. |
lagcity: pls use your brain. Is donald duke a yoruba man? is akpabio a yoruba man? PDP presented great candidates in other states, so why cant they give yorubaland great candidates? Instead of giving Yorubas ppl like Amaechi, they would rather give us thieves and murderers. Even if those thieves and murderers do their jobs, we wouldn't be upset. But they only looted and killed opposition. Now you know why PDP is hated in SW.What kind of backward reasoning is this? You are the one who has lost his brain. Why do the good examples need to be Yoruba for you to aknowledge them? I do not agree with you about the quality of who PDP produced. Rather, the SW was unlucky (and still is) that the top echelons of its political class is peopled with bad eggs. Whereas, in the eastern parts (in addition to Jigawa and Kwara), PDP has produced quite good governors. Aside from Fashola, who is the good governor ACN has given the SW? The rest (led by Aregbesola) are very useless. |
Can't you guys read the OP The main said the oil sector has been relatively flat recently, and in fact that it is the non-oil sector which is growing most rapidly.....
The oil sector has grown tremendously over the past couple of years. The article is just marketing propaganda for the benefit of foreigners.People are still poor and many getting poorer, yet with 8% leaps in GDP mainly from non-oil, we should be seeing stunning changes at street level. I don't see them. |
anonimi: You don follow Jona miss road finish. Those schools will provide what you call "formal education." They are almajiri schools that follow the normal primary school curriculum (with Islamic studies tagged on). I don't see why people are against this thing. |
^ ndu chucks is a Fulani man. As for your theory of forcing govt, you will find that the almajiri schools were a prominent part of GEJ's campaign. That campaign happened long before suicide bombs, so lets not invent history. Thank you. |
kettykin: @ beaf How is the statement Baseless, Nigerdeltans were blind when they participated in the war it took KSWiwa 30 years and his life to understand thatYou are wrong. The Midwest was first invaded by Biafra, then the FG. Nobody bothered to ask us anything, talkless of us taking sides. Your story is just propaganda which might have been useful at the time, but is now as painful as any other false accusation. I don't see how Isoko's, Urhobo's, Itsekiri's, Ilaje's etc fought against Biafra, or even had the wherewithal to do so. We were helpless spectators, whose lands were invaded by both sides. |
anonimi: The Real Reason?Well spotted. Osun state is borrowing frightening ammounts of money like water under Aregbesola, all with nothing to show for it. I pity what will become of that state, because there is no way Osun can pay back. The money is simply going into bribing people in Lagos and off course, being blindly stolen as well. Now we are being regaled with another quixotic statement from Lai Mohammed. Sad. |
kettykin: The foolish Niger Deltans fought Against igbos for nought and were rewarded with exploited and oil populated and ravaged land only good for burying peopleThis statement is baseless, bro. |
edicolove: GEJ made it very clear a while ago that he would de-congest Lagos. This is long overdue. This is only the begining. Lagos has enjoy the status as the business capital of Nigeria because it was a former capital city. That has changed a long time ago. Now the process of balancing things has begun: |
^ You rest your case and you haven't added my name yet? Choi! This is rigging! No wonder everybody is against the election. |
ITbomb: Meaning all his other posts are nonsense and RubbbbbbbbishThose who wear sentiment are generally unwise, uncouth and unintelligent. |
ekwy nwa: @ beaf how do you hope to achieve that? its like forcing Christianity on them, you can force a horse to the river but you cant force it to drink water. Almajiri school curriculum is Islamic based and you can’t force them to change that. No, it isn't. The deal right from the beginning was to build standard Westernised schools that would also teach Islamic studies; the people accepted it and it has been delivered to them. There is nothing in Islam that forbids people to go to proper schools, so lets not look at it in that way. Those kids will get the full primary school curriculum alongside their Islamic studies. Its a double win. What really needs looking out for, is that the vultures who abused these kids in the first place are kept away from sabotaging the schools. Again, this can only come through the application of more soft policies that reach out to the people. Every kid that attends the new schools, potentially depletes boko harams ranks by one. The same goes to other nefarious groups, if you recall, during the subsidy crisis children were arrested among those who attempted to burn down the Kaduna state governors lodge; indeed, a 13 year old was shot to death. We know of the various riots in which these youngsters have murdered, looted and burnt. These ugly things can be avoided, kids wouldn't be used as weapons of war if they have not been abused and their humanity stolen by the almajiri system. It is that system that needs retooling with wisdom, so that we all become winners. |
If a countries economy is the 3rd fastest growing, but the masses do not feel it, then such growth is largely worthless. We need to diversify our economy as a matter of strict urgency. Nuff said. |
kingoflag: Ok, this is the Beaf I love to read.Don't let me give you a jaw remapping drop-kick. ![]() ![]() |
I am still laughing! The whole thing is so funny, its like Lai Moahammed smoked wee-wee mixed with garri. ![]() Na wa! |
ekwy nwa: says who? re you going to force it on them?Yes. That is the entire point of the schools, to standardise the almajiri institution, force Western education on them and make the kids employable. At the same time giving the kids aspirations to live toward like any one of us. Right now, what do they have to aspire to? The current system only teaches religion and that is why their only outlets are begging and violence. That scourge has to end. It is a soft policy aimed at hard results. |
malc619: You are a very jobless He-goat. What's your business with Tinubu. Why not talk about your stupid state governor who is doing nothing.See this ode. ACN alleges threat to Aregbesola’s life By Our Reporter Governor Rauf Aregbesola Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s life is under threat, his party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), said yesterday. The party raised the alarm in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed According to the statement, the “credible threat to Aregbesola’s life is within the context of a dastardly plot being engineered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to destabilise the Southwest and soften the ground for the PDP ahead of the 2015 general elections”. According to the ACN, Osun State is being targeted in the pilot scheme “of this act of desperation by the PDP because it is hell bent on causing chaos in the region.” The statement reads: “The architects of this plot believe that unless the PDP destabilises the Southwest and gets rid of the man they see as an implacable foe of the party (PDP), the President’s putative plan to run for re-election in 2015 will be in jeopardy, especially as they are afraid - for reasons best known to them - that the President will not get the backing of the Northwest and the Northeast in his quest for re-election. “The first step in the dastardly plot is the fabrication of an ‘intelligence report’ alleging that Aregbesola is nursing a secessionist plan; that he now plays Osun’s anthem in place of the national anthem; that he has since dispensed with the services of the SSS operatives attached to him and replaced them with Islamic extremists called ‘Tawun’; that he has officially changed the uniforms of secondary schools in Osun, made the wearing of hijab compulsory for female students and enforces that through Islamic militants, and that he has sent militants for revolutionary training in Cuba. “The cooked intelligence report concluded that all legal and constitutional means must be used to stop him. Reading between lines, the measures being advocated in the report could only be impeachment (this is impossible, considering the clean sweep of the PDP’s footsteps in the state), creation of chaos and anarchy to pave the way for the imposition of a state of emergency in the state, or the final solution, which is physical elimination,” it said. The ACN said it listed physical elimination because of the inexplicable disappearing acts involving some security agents attached to the governor in recent times, and the growing suspicious activity of some security agencies in the state. The party warned the plotters to desist from any act that will further threaten the tenuous peace and security in the country, reminding them to learn from history. The party said: “There is no iota of truth in the allegations detailed in the so-called intelligence report engineered by the PDP. No SSS operative has been sent packing and the governor neither has the intention nor possesses the authority to do so; no private militia is being trained anywhere, except in the warped minds of the PDP desperadoes; and no uniform change or hijab-wearing law has been passed in the state. “We hope that the plotters remember that since the First Republic, all attempts to destabilise the Southwest have ended with dire consequences for the nation. Also, such acts have always been motivated by the desperation to win federal elections. The ACN will, therefore, like to put the PDP and its collaborators on notice that it (ACN) will guard its mandate in Osun and other states jealously against political hawks. The so-called intelligence report should be shredded and packed in a dust bin where it belongs because it is nothing but the PDP master-plan to destabilise Osun State, in particular, and the Southwest region, in general. “We also warn the security and intelligence agencies to be independent and not to allow themselves to be used for political gains. They should put national interest above partisan or sectional interest, and remember that the PDP is not synonymous with the Nigerian nation. “It is just a bull in a China shop that will soon be ejected by the peoples’ votes.” http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/42866-acn-alleges-threat-to-aregbesola%E2%80%99s-life.html |
Hate to rain on your parade, Beaf. Really, I do. But this school right here, is of absolutely no positive contribution to the current Almajiri crisis. Let us not overstress this so called school's importance, because: It is simply a theological school of Islamic studies for children, with no provisions for scientific education It neither serves to educate these children on the fields of commerce or craftsmanship It neither serves as an avenue to educate the many Northern families on family planning, as well as the dangers of irresponsible and reckless procreation If for one thing, all it provides are cleaner rooms for the the retrogressive Almajiri menace to carry on. And since the system itself is totally different from formal education, what would be the chances of these kids to get into the mainstream secondary or tertiary institutions afterwards? What's next? Almajiri Secondary School? University of Almajiri? This is a Fail, my comrade.
You can't teach science and commerce at primary school level. At least I don't know of any primary schools that do that. What these schools will acheive is a more rounded education for those kids. They are going to get a standard Western education that will give them hope and employability, rather than just Arabic recitations that are of no value to the job market and has seen them as beggars, freaks, rioters and murderers. |
kai! Up till now nobody has nominated me! Am getting angry o! ![]() I wanna be the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba peeps on NL. Ayam 100% Yoruba luv'n as the thread requires. Wetin na? afam4eva: Like i said, i don't care for the north. I'm more concerned with what GEJ has done in the most disadvantaged region in Nigeria. What's my business with the north's future productivity and well being. If we are to be real, it would take superhuman effort to break up Nigeria (the reason is below), so its best we learn to live together as one. In global politics, Nigeria is seen as a country that is too big to fail for the following reasons: 1. Nigeria accounts for 20% of the entire African population. 2. A break up will see at least two thirds of our 167 million people nosedive into extreme poverty. 3. Extreme religion and al qaeda will take firm root in the core-North. 4. Desperation will force the disadvantaged two thirds into an all or nothing war with the priviledged (potentially affecting US oil flow). 5. The wars from the break up will distabilise the entire West and Central Africa, as well as vast swathes of North Africa. 6. Raw greed. The movers and shakers of the World see Nigeria as a future investment haven, breaking up will rubbish their projections. 7. It is in America's security interest that Nigeria remains united to blunt extremism in parts of the North. |
if this is not islamic school then its okay because i think he should support western education there else it is a foking waste of time and appeasing future terrorists!
The schools are not the usual almajiri schools. The kids will be given Western education and taught the same stuff as other primary schools, but Islamic education will also be taught too. |
Dede1: @POSTWe should be careful about using derogatory words towards other peoples religious beliefs. There is no wisdom in it. |
afam4eva: Doesn't it look as if GEJ is kissing northern azz? The rate at which he is happy to meet stand with a notable nothern leader or do something for the north suggests that. Please, GEJ is the President of the entire country. This is the best thing ever that could have happened for the future of those innocent kids. It is hard to quantify what this initiative will acheive in terms of future productivity, citizen wellbeing and security. Excellent job! |
otunba 9ja: Bros, if u truly voted for GEJ without cross-checking his antecedents andJudging from the fact that GEJ won by landslide, you are calling the majority of Nigerians fools. Isn't this a clear case of the mad man looking around the room, declaring everyone else mad before breaking into maniacal laughter? |
niniman: I don't know about lagos but PDP had good chances in OYO, OGUN and OSUN.They only need to bring back their aggrieved members to the party which is what they are presently working on. Look at the last elections, ACN won cos PDP was in disarray at that time. In Oyo, the first runner up and second runner up are both from the PDP fold, same with Ogun state. If they can reconcile all their members and come up with a united front for the 2015 elections, they have good chances in both state. Osun state will majorly depend on the performance of the Governor. ACN came into power thru the courts, election counts in 10 big local govt of osun was cancelled for the ACN govt, Aregbe's performance in govt will matter a lot.Fashola cannot run for another term in Lagos, so that state too is up for grabs. As for Aregbesola, that clown is little more than an embarrassment. There is little prospect of Osun remaining with ACN on the strength of his very weak showing. It is safe to bet that PDP will sweep Osun in the next elections and there will be no Salami to help this time. |
sylve11: silly ilaje man shut up!GEJ should move Ilaje people to Delta state too, then they wouldn't receive this sort of insult and discrimination. Very annoying. ![]() |
KnowAll: Charity must begin at home. B4 d federal Goverment embark on un-warranted executive fiat and draconian pronouncement they should lead by example, relocate NNPC from Abuja to PH.This is a very likely thing to happen. NNPC has no businees being in Abuja, all thats needed there is a liaison office for the Petroleum Minister. |
