Politics › Osun - We’ll Not Allow Government To Challenge Our Faith –christian Leaders by Beaf(op): 1:05am On Apr 15, 2012
We’ll not allow government to challenge our faith –Christian leaders
From Our reporter
Sunday, April 15, 2012

Christian leaders in Osun State have cautioned the government against setting the state on fire over wearing of hijab in public schools and changing of names of public schools bearing Christian names.

A Pentecostal group, Gospel Pushers Association, in a statement issued
in Osogbo on Saturday said signals emanating from activities of the governor concerning Christianity were not palatable to the ears of Christians in the state. They also warned the governor to avoid actions that will portray him as being overtly or covertly supporting any militant religious sect. The statement signed by the group’s chairman, who is also the immediate past secretary of the state’s chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev. Theophilus Ayodeji, reads:

“Our attention has been drawn to reports of attempts by the government of Osun State to change uniforms of public primary and secondary schools and rename public schools bearing Christian names. We want to say that no Christian in Osun State is comfortable with attempts to change names of Christian schools and introduction of “Unchristian single uniform for all schools in the state.”

The group specifically cautioned Aregbesola to resist any temptation to change the name of one of the oldest schools on the state capital. “Specifically, we want to mention Salvation Army Primary School, Alekuwodo, Osogbo, which the government of Mr. Rauf Aregbesola is determined to give a new name, just as a new uniform would be introduced by the end of this month to replace the ones that have marked out these schools for over five decades. Our position is very clear. We are not against the government renovating schools, but that should not be a reason to change the names of these schools, many of which are older than the present political office holders. Every school in Osun State has its history and uniforms. We will not allow any government to challenge our faith as children of God.

“Osun is a secular state renowned for peaceful co existence. The first governor of the state, Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke, and the second governor, Chief Bisi Akande, are Muslims, who were overwhelmingly voted for by Christians, who did not mind their religion, just as Akande’s successor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, was overwhelmingly elected by Christians and Muslims, even when he and his running mate are Christians. These past governors protected the secularity of our state, which unfortunately, is being threatened by the present governor.

“We hereby call for restraints on the part of the government. We advise that the governor should tread softly over the introduction of hijab in public schools and should not be seen overtly or covertly supporting any militant religious sect.”

At the time you were "praising" the police for a job well-done. Guess what? The courts awarded them N11 million https://www.nairaland.com/887110/court-awards-n11m-arrested-acn
I repeat, you are a fool and very ignorant. Gas used by power plants are not piped to the plants from the source of the gas. The gas companies for the most part have huge storage facilities from where the gas is piped (short distance) to end users. We are talking about a similar process where the smaller storage facility is owned by the company in question. The gas will then be piped to the plant from the said tanks.

Once again, your attempt to change the topic has failed woefully. Let me remind you of the main issues raised in this thread - I welcome your positive contribution, and thanks in advance:
Chei! What an entertaining day today is turning out to be! You ask people for proof and they start going orange with madness.
Sir, where are your examples of any power plants that are run from gas storage tanks?

NONE? grin

Aigbofa: The PDP should back their allegations with facts. What they are doing right now is nothing more than a smear campaign. When is ravelling to an unnamed African country tantamount to an illegal activity that warrants a probe? Is the SW PDP this re.tarded? Maybe they should all join a circus and spare us this childish charade. Bloody clowns
My brother, people generally have facts before summoning the fearful security services (who seem to have swung into action already anyway). This whole thing is spiralling wildly, who knows where it will end?

Nobody plays games at this level.

Dread.
You are a fool sir. Many such plants exist in remote locations in the USA and they do generate their own power and send the rest to the transmission grid. And yes, they use storage tanks for gas used to fire the plants. Many of the storage tanks are underground. olodo
Mr wise man, do you have examples of powerplants that run off stored gas?
Maybe the Americans were stupid afterall to have built the gas pipleline at great cost across Alaskan wastelands or the Europeans are daft enough to pump gas all the way from Russia to parts like France, Germany, the UK etc. Who knows? grin

Rattled by the recent threat to its government during the week by the dreaded Boko Haram sect, the ruling PDP has called on security agencies to ask Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, his mission to a North African country a few days ago, even as it warns against his romance with extremists. The party is specifically worried that the governor launched his campaigns in Osun State with a document he called “the Green Book” patterned after Ghaddafi’s Green Book.

The South West PDP in a statement issued by its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Hon Kayode Babade, said it strongly suspects that Aregbesola could be working for some groups with links to extremist organisations in the Magreb. The party said shortly after the much publicised birthday celebration of Senator Bola Tinubu, Aregbesola with another top ranking leader of his party sneaked out of the country to a North African state and came back the third day, adding that security agencies should probe the trip, coming at a time the country was facing security challenges from all sides.

“We also want this man to explain his links with the ousted government of Muammar Ghaddafi of Libya and whether it was just a sheer coincidence that he launched his campaigns in Osun State with a document he called “the Green Book” patterned after Ghaddafi’s Green Book.
“We also want him to explain what informed his government’s decision to introduce one single uniform for all public primary and secondary schools in Osun State and why it is a sin for teachers and civil servants not to sing his own ‘anthem’, which he has used to replace the national anthem.

While insisting that the party’s concern went beyond political considerations, the statement said, “Security agencies in the country should also show more than a passing interest in the suspicious movement of helicopters into and out of Osun Government House at odd hours. We believe some funny moves are going on there,” the party said.

“There are three other ACN governors in the South West that are Muslims. They have largely shown some decorum in matters of religion. We fear that with the way the man in Osun is carrying on, Nigeria and particularly Yorubaland could be endangered,” the PDP said.

Gbawe, were are Aregbesola's roads?
Where is any evidence of massive "dry season road construction?"
Where is the World Banks 50billa, una chop am?
Where is the much vaunted Osun/Julius Berger partnership?

My broda, don't worry about militants. The problem here is tawun and Aregbesola's/ACN's fascism being percieved as secessionist moves.
We have had people from Iwo telling us the dread that tawun poses to their peaceful existence. We have even learnt on this thread that tawun has already taken lives. It is therefore difficult to understand your defense which so far, only consists of insults.
Aregbesola has not even been able to deny that the hijab has become the official school uniform across the state amongst many other accusations.

So why are you here ventilating violently?

Apt response to that load of sentiment that avoids every issue raised.

Beaf: Here are a few of the accusations that Aregbesola failed to address (because they are true).

1. He has sent tawun thugs to Cuba for military training.
2. He has replaced the national anthem at official occassions.
3. No explanation for the strange flags he parades the place with.
4. The Nigerian coat of arms has been removed throughout Osun state and repleaced with one of bogus origins.
5. The hijab is now the official school uniform in Osun.
6. He has replaced his SSS guard with tawun.

Instead, we were regaled with tragic statement after empty statement.

I don't see Vettel coming in any better than 8th. Those ahead of him are too good.
Mercedes might fall back, because of poor tyre management, but Lewis win last year showed that this can be minimised with a 3 stop strategy; so its still up in the air for a Mercedes podium.
Jensen Button used up all his tyres, while Lewis set his time on old rubber (so like last season, he has an extra set). I see Jenson easily falling into the clutches of Lewis and Webber in the early stages.
The one to watch up front is Kobayashi, he might cause an accident.
People that has never been to Osun state before are just commenting base on religious and political sentiments, come to the state and see things for yourself, how can a state have a coat of arm and flag to the extent of removing the national coat of arm and flag from all public office and place and replacing them with the state's own, only the national anthem is the Nigeria symbol that still exist in Osun. As per the religious group, Aregbesola used them as his body guards as at 2007 when he was campaigning for election but I don't know whether he's still using them, even the former Gov build a house for them and bought them a bus which later killed some of them in an accident which they blame on the "evil" bus, he did that to calm things down during the face off between them and masqurades and to solicit for there support in the election as this people are very many and increasing everyday, come to Iwo and do your findings these people are spreading fast and they are capable of doing anything, Aregbe might not be supporting them but they use to get away with anything they do and they decide when and how other religious group operates. This is how Boko Haram starts.
Brother, you are only partially correct. Aregbesola has actually replaced the national anthem with an unknown one as well.
As for tawun, they form the group of servants that carry unknown flags in procession before Aregbesola (like an emperor) at official gatherings.
