Lets bear in mind that British soldiers have already been on Nigerian soil to chase boko haram.

If boko haram continues, this is what will happen:

1. The army will wage a scotched Earth battle to capture the core-Northern states.
2. Many wouldn't like it causing open conflict.
3. There will be war fronts in Kaduna and Bauchi as each side strives to maintain hold on Abuja.
4. The oil spigot will be kept open to keep the US happy and on the Southern/Middle Beltern side.
5. The US and UK will help the Southern/Middle Beltern side with logistics in the hope that they will avoid the core-North falling into al qaeda's arms.
6. As the war escalates with the likes of Iran helping, the US and UK will see no othet way out than to land troops in the core-North.
7. In the meantime, the Southern/Middle Beltern side would be organising a national conference to plot the way forward as a virile nation with a potent constitution, weakened centre and guarantee the rights of every citizen.
8. At the time the core-North decides to capitulate, the national conference would already have been done and dusted. With rights guaranteed to all, we would have seen the last ever almajiri and 9 year old bride. Also, many sponsors of religious crisis would have been killed during the war or marked to be sentenced to death after its conclusion.

Who knows, there might be blessings to be reaped.

MsDarkSkin: I absolutely adore and love my President Barack Obama cheesy. I am very proud that my vote aided in his presidency and another will help him win another term wink cool BUT I think it is high time politicians stop making excuses for terror organizations and styling them out as "fed up victims". Although OBAMA HIMSELF DID NOT SAY THAT...(to you folks ignorantly insulting the man), a member of his regime did and I don't think it was a wise thing to do. undecided

I will tell you why...

Marching with picket signs in protest, appealing to/pleading with the International community for aid, or perhaps making efforts to have their grievances heard by their local government, is what people who have the betterment of Nigeria at heart would do. Now whether or not the Nigerian gov't will oblige is another issue however, blowing up buildings and killing/maiming innocent civilians is not something that can justified as being the result of "unstable and corrupt government".

We in the west (and world at large) fail to realize there are DEVIOUS people out there who even if granted their EVERY WISH, would still be unhappy and hateful.

Boko Harram and related organizations would have come to be REGARDLESS. If you grant them their own nation, the assault on Nigeria would not cease because they will find another excuse (it appears the US has handed them a new one smh). I think it is kind of ridiculous for Johnny Carson to make such statement public when in fact he (or the pres) could have organized some sort of meeting with the GEJ regime to discuss methods to rid the Nigerian nation of Boko Harram and it's sympathizers.

This is a complex issue and I am sure there are frustrations involved on BH's part....'what?' you ask?

Simple: Not succeeding in turning Nigerian into an extremist Islamic state where Sharia law will be THE law!

Frustrated with "poor government, ineffective service delivery, and dismal living conditions for many northerners" my foot! tongue The notion that that is why BH came to be is highly comical to say the least. The USA can do a lot more than sit on the side lines and make petty excuses for this pathetic gang of bullies.
That Johnny Carson guy has always been a boko haram/core-Norethern elite advocate. The core-Norethern elite and boko harams sponsors obviously awash with enough cash to keep Mr Carson talking crap. I recall Nigeria's ambassador to the US vowing to teach the man a lesson sometime last year.

hillsate: I know your mind is very narrow coupled with the fact that your myopic nature takes the most of your reasoning.
I am not here to waste my time trying to upgrade your set lame and overly dull mentality. You are ignorance personified. Go and give your diabetic peeps cassava bread.
Once again, you are stup!d. Reason?...

jmaine: Let's clear the seeming ignorance on the faulty assumption that Cassava consumption is deleterious to diabetic patients

President of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, Professor Ignatius Onimawo, has debunked the rumour that cassava flour is not good, saying cassava-based foods are healthier for people with diabetes, more than some foods.

The nutrionist made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recently in Lagos.

“Cassava has become not just a food security crop, it’s now becoming a nutritious security crop, because of the fact that, recently, we have the yellow cassava that contains better carotene, which is precursors for Vitamin A.

“So, just imagine what will happen if such yellow cassava is made into flour and the flour is mixed with wheat flour and you use it to produce bread, a lot of things are coming in.

“You are going to eat bread that will now contain precusor for Vitamin A and that same bread will lower the risk of diabetes, lower the risk of reaction to gluten. These are all pluses for such mixture and I want us to take advantage of that.”

The professor said the prevalence rate of diabetes in the country was at least 10 per cent, adding that though there had been an increase generally because of lifestyle modes and dietary habits, the condition had not been linked with cassava consumption.

He disclosed that the Glycemic Index (GI) found in foods should determine the types of food a diabetic should take.

‘Glycemic Index (GI) talks about the ability for a particular food to raise blood glucose immediately and within one hour of consumption.

“Cassava flour or cassava-based foods have been measured in this respect and they fall between the Glycemic Index (GI)of 46 and 60.46 is low and 60 is medium.

Onimawo said mixing cassava flour with wheat flour, which had a high GI of more than 70 per cent, was highly advantageous to a diabetic.

He said: “Let us say, assuming the cassava flour we are talking about has a GI of 46 and you mix it with that of what flour that has GI of 70, by the time we take the average, it goes down.

“It is natural, it is purely scientific. But, in this case, you are mixing a lower GI foods with a higher one, in which case you will bring down the GI which is better for a diabetic than if they take a whole wheat flour bread which is normally 70 to 72.”

Onimawo said that people with type 2 diabetes did not need insulin injections, but needed to know the amount of GI in the types of food they ate.

He said that foods with low GI would help release the glucose on a gradual level into the blood stream.

He advised diabetics to eat foods such as legumes, nuts, fruits and vegetables, which have low Glycemic Index (GI).

TroGunn: Nice one. And people, a little positivity won't kill you. The minimum wage was implemented by FG, only state govts messing around with it. Also local content bill is really helping Nigerian companies in the oil and gas industry- insiders know this, though not perfect but better than before.

If only GEJ would privatise power, allow State Police, scrap the federal road rubbish and send the monies to the states.
Send more money to the states that do nothing? I don't support that in the least.
Each state should be an economically viable and autonomous entity that should be funding the FG. It is an abberation for the FG to fund states, in fact, Nigeria is the only country in the World I know that has parasitic states.

In the rest of the World, it is the states that generate jobs and development. For example, the US govt did not create Silicon Valley, home of Microsoft, Google, Facebook etc; the state of Carlifornia created the enabling environment. The US govt did not create Holywood, Miamey Beach, Las Vegas etc; private enterprise coupled with local/state govts did.

Every Nigerian should fight tooth and nail to end the awuf culture, because it is the reason we remain backward. Free money for zero work creates an unhealthy environment.

Truth be told, only a rich nation can afford to feed its people. Nigeria is nothing but an unfortunate kakistocracy; even worse, the citizens of Nigerians are no better than the incompetent fools in government, for when the citizens who are daily clamoring and advocating for a better government find themselves in the corridors of power, they become that which they have always vilified and execrated.

I read somewhere on this site a couple of days ago that there are two types of Nigerians:

1) Those who are stealing and,
2) those waiting for the opportunity to commence stealing

Guy, if the US army lands, the core-North would resemble a cross between Afghanistan and Somalia. That is where the entire battle would be.
And make no mistake about it, the only reason the US would intervene so forcefully would be if Nigeria was to separate or slide into civil war. Then the US would do all in its power to "pacify" the core-North and straighten attitudes; they have enough bombs, tech and manpower to "convince" even the rocks and stones amongst us that the almajiri culture is for fools only.

dvee2: States like Ebonyi, Ekiti, Osun etc are very poor and undeveloped, yet they do not have boko haram. I wonder why?

Anyway, I believe that Obama is actually talking about failure of govt at LG and state levels; the US is not like Nigeria, where people feel that every mention of govt means the FG. The failures that created almajiri's, sharia etc are all at state and LG levels. It is states and LG's that provide schools, not the FG.

ok your disagreement is that you believed obama meant FG represented by GEJ when he said failure of government.
Damn right! cool

dvee2: If he had said failure of state or local government you would be ok with his statement?
wow i am begining to believe this 40 laptop theory.
Then you are daft and looking for excuses, cos you can't hold an argument.

dvee2: The next option is to look up my profile and past comment and attack me. I will still comment anyway.this is my take on this - being poor or failure of government is not the only factor causing terrorism, but sure its one of the factors. Also GEJ is not responsible for the frustation poor situation in the north i fully agree with you,but so also is Yardua not responsible for the militancy in the niger delta.but he fully engage it and dealt with it. Lets encourage GEJ to confront these issue in whatever way he can rather than doing nothing and believing its the work of his enemies in the north.
I am not disputing your theory of northern conspiracy, however is there a possibility even remotely that there are other factors which we might overlook because we are completely focus on one lead?
Again, you are daft, just as you've proven by agreeing that GEJ did not cause the problem (which is what I have been saying).
For your info, anybody that blames Yar Adua for causing the Niger Delta problem is simply a fool. So is anyone that equates the Niger Delta issues with boko haram. Its like going to toilet with your brain. instead of using it.

The societal problems that have turned the core-North into a terrorists happy hunting ground are the result of continuing bad leadership by the core-Northern elite. It is only the FG's problem now, because with the failure of LG and state govt, it has become a security issue.
If you cannot understand this, then I pity you.

A brain is for use, sir.
Maybe you need to tell me why there is no boko haram in Ebonyi, Ekiti and Osun. Are they not very poor and undeveloped too?
