I just think you Yoruba's are in danger of selling to the devil. The only state that can cope without the FG is Lagos and the natural allies of the SW are not in the core-North. Those are the two biggest clangers. I'm hearing stuff about rural states thats unreal; its best for the whole of the South and Middle Belt to sit and reach common ground than have unacheivable dreams. The only state that can afford to dream is Lagos. I hope I've not been too diplomatic to be understood clearly. There realities on the ground we all need to face, I believe GEJ's view is quite longterm, but there is no better time than now to sieze opportunities. |
I wonder if Osun Defender is worse than Sahara Reporters, or Sahara Reporters is worse than Osun Defender. Its confusing, because both are so damn poor! ![]() |
sbeezy8:Chineke! I'm the foremost proponent of true federalism on NL. I have always wondered if there is soil in Tinubu's skull that has been making him miscalculate and run to the core-North for alliances. Those guys are nobodies friends, they just wanna rule you. If the core desire is true federalism, why diss those with whom you can get a block vote, while embracing your enemy? Makes no sense. |
OAM4J:Even if ANPP joins the alliance, they will still be steamrolled. People are just deceived by Buhari's fake crowds that the Yar Adua cabal was hiring; except by miracle, he stands no chance. |
OAM4J:That is not true. Lagos makes about a decent percentage of the money it needs (it still needs FG money), the rest will collapse without FG money for a month or two. How will they pay teachers, doctors and civil service workers? |
dayokanu:GEJ is very far from desperate. Why would he be? The man just isn't smug, he's just being the nice guy that he is by pulling the country together after the very ugly campaigns. |
sbeezy8:I'm sure you are thinking of Obj as usual. Dude, he isn't the one in Aso Rock, he's an ally, thats all. Atiku started the Obj mania to to smear GEJ, there was also EK Clark, but that seems to have faded (most likely cos he's minority). Anyways, its private money and private investors. Such stuff is good for unity govt. lol |
OAM4J:GEJ is a believer in the private sector, so thats who will be doing the building, but FG will have shares since they are facilitating; even Lagos can't raise that kind of money. |
dayokanu:In the next couple of years. A lot has already been signed and money sourced ($23billion). |
sbeezy8:Will you reject the refinery and fertiliser plant he's going to build in Lagos? Lol! Now, now, I wonder who's gonna build it? Do you now see the "importance" of GNU? Bruv, it helps. ![]() |
^ It doesnt underestimate anything. I've been to all the states you mentioned (and more, count in the 30's). I'm sure I even know your state more than you can ever dream. LOL! Anybody who is widely travelled in Nigeria will immediately recognise the validity of that map. Bayelsa is a very poor and very rural state, and it is reflected accurately, so are Ondo, Ekiti and Osun. You notice when you drivre tru. I know names of interior villages like Gbangan. ![]()
@Beaf and ekubear ok then I'm glad we are not putting too much trust in that British data, those people just throw funny things around sometimes. ![]() I'll check it out.
Its better than any data we have, though. And for someone like me that knows every crack and corner in Nigeria, it is quite accurate. |
@Kilode? You can find the map and a couple of others here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-13021594 |
Be deceiving yourself there, instead of learning the meaning of PPP. Self consolation can't save you. lol!
Ekubear and Beaf where did y'all get that funny looking map and funny data from, I thought that KPMG PDF report we discussed last month placed ondo state as 6th largest economy in the country. Or was it just potential?
Thank you ekt_bear is just a bushman. Ok, I know you didn't abuse him, but am just helping. ![]() Its from an election story on BBC. I'll see if I can find the link to post. |
koruji:Alas, CPC cannot deliver the North, because the secret of the crowds was Aliero, Ruma and Tanimu Yakubu, deftly hiring almajiri's and bussing them from rally to rally. The election has proven their weakness. |
Can someone please address Beaf's posts, explain to him why he is misunderstanding the graph (essentially it is a graph of GDP, not GDP/capita). He doesn't seem to get why his interpretation of the graph is wrong, and I'm tired of explaining it to him. He thinks GDP (ppp) says something about individual wealth, rather than aggregate wealth. . . only a measure like GDP/capita would talk about individuals.
Do you think any state would be brighter than Bayelsa if it was GDP per capita only? Dude, Bayelsa produces 30% of our oil and has only 2 million people. LOL!!!!! Learn the meaning of PPP. Nobody needs your help. |
This is where they sourced the data from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nigerian_states_by_GDP You can compute a sum of GDP per region, and see that ours is #1 or #2 (and if #2, behind the SS). Here is a list of states by population: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nigerian_states_by_population You can again divide, and see that ours GDP per capita is either #1 or #2. So I don't see what exactly we need from Nigeria. All we need is good government and limited interference. In other words, if we fix the roads in the SW, fix power, use our allocations prudently we'll be golden.
Don't be bloody silly. Simply compute how much oil Bayelsa produces, do the sums against their tiny population and then ask yourself why your argument fails to add up so woefully. When you are done with that, learn the meaning of PPP. That map is a statement of individual wealth distribution in Nigeria. It is a map of relative development. If you ever leave your little end of the World, you would know its accurate too, cos you'll see the difference as you travel. Unfortunately, you know zilch about the country and keep making wild assumptions that others need your help. Dude, in all cases apart from Lagos and Oyo, its the other way round. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/special/world/11/nigeria_election_toggle_maps/img/nigeria_wealth_624.gif |
By the way, govt of national unity means that several parties form the govt, its not anti-federalism. |
Been there done that. They can shove the money, how about we pay them to stay in out for 30 years.
Thats a joke right? ![]() |
sbeezy8:Everybody wants true federalism, but there must be ordered steps and alliances to get there; so its not out of place. |
Why are we worried about other regions when they don't even seem worried for themselves? If they will not fight and build a legitimate democracy, why should we do it for them? And I meant infrastructure projects by saying that $5 billion a year, btw.
You keep talking forkry, again, look at these map. You are not helping anybody and nobody needs your help, it is about Nigeria, not SW: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/special/world/11/nigeria_election_toggle_maps/img/nigeria_wealth_624.gif |
EzeUche:Nah, if GEJ wins, he's gonna develop Lagos in particular. |
Lol @ toto But GEJ needs to be vigilant, these people are trying so hard to soil his "free and fair" election ![]() Strange results from one honest man.
Its not people trying to steal elections, but more like people being mischeivious in the hope that they can spark riots after the presidential elections. |
Donlittle:If Buhari was in power, you would have been locked up long since, because he brooks no dissent. Keep listening to rumours and tall tails instead of reading up to learn, and of course, keep dreaming of demons like Buhari. Buhari in meeting with Ciroma - http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/ciroma-group-cpc-open-talks-on-presidential-poll/89483/ ABUJA—NORTHERN political leaders were, yesterday, rallying round Major General Muhammadu Buhari the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, with the prospect of lifting his fortunes during the weekend presidential election.http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/04/northern-leaders-rally-round-buhari/ Who is in bondage? |
Donlittle:Its not your problem if I get anything or not. Its painful to lose when you've thrown everything immoral at an opponent, but take your loss without tears. I wonder if you have dreams of marrying Buhari? ![]() |
Alj Uche:Next time don't ask silly questions. Your Buhari is busy holding meetings with Ciroma, IBB, Atiku and Yar Adua's cabal that did all the hiring of almajiri's to deceive people like you with, "see crowd!!" ![]() |
Donlittle:What makes you think I was referring to you? The story is useless. |
EzeUche:Dude, its best not to even contribute these threads, because common sense seems to evaporate. Can you imagine how it has taken so long after results were declared for contestants to suddenly come up with stories as serious as, "oh, no voting occurred in a ward, but there were 10,000 VALID results?" It seems ridiculous to me, especially with the open ballot system where everyone knew the result immediately after voting. How they even expect that one man could have thumbprinted 10k ballots remains another mystery. The only good thing about the story is the name of the place, Toto! From experience, its a lovely place indeed! ![]() |
Alj Uche:Abeg, go an die jare! Your BB is meeting with Ciroma as we speak and you're here killing yourself over GEJ, cos you fear what I posted on my thread will come to pass. Who cares what you as a biased individual thinks anyway? LOLZ! |
The whole story sounds wishy-washy and desperate. No exact instances or offences are given. |
sbeezy8:GEJ always crosses the last t and dots the last i. So, even though a victory is almost assured on Saturday, there is no sense in behaving like a snub (thats not GEJ anyway). |
Alj Uche:Tinubu is corrupt, make no mistake. Jonathan will associate with the people on whose behalf Tinubu negotiates. There's a difference, you will not see Tinubu becoming anything in a GEJ govt. |
LOL! I spent the whole of yesterday convincing NLers that something could be in the offing with the likes of Fashola, but many thought I was crazy! ![]() Tinubu will deal. |
