sbeezy8:Lol! What if the reformed PDP opens its doors to ACN? Lol! I'm sure the best of ACN would rather deal with PDP than deal with the cabal thats now in CPC; as we speak a confused Buhari is holding desperate talks with Ciroma and Ribadu for a Northern consensus candidate. |

I’ll be stvpid to deceive myself - Oyo CPC gov candidate Monday, 11 April 2011 THE gubernatorial candidate of the Congress for Progress Change (CPC) in Oyo State, Mr Adebayo Shittu, has said that he will win the election in the state. He said that at his age, he would be silly to be deceiving himself, insisting that his was the only party with a political manifesto. “I will be a stvpid man to deceive myself. I am winning the gubernatorial election in Oyo State. I am the only candidate in the state with a manifesto,” he said while casting his vote at Unit 2, Ward 20 in Saki, Saki West Local Government Area of Oyo State, during the National Assembly election on Saturday. In another development, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate in Oyo North Sanatorial district, Mr Hosea Agboola, has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be up to the task by conducting other elections without postponement under whatever guise. He said this while the National Assembly election was going on, on Saturday. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/20249-ill-be-silly-to-deceive-myself-oyo-cpc-gov-candidate |

The way some anti-GEJ peeps are attributing all his good work to Yar Adua, I won't be surprised if the poor Yar Adua gets pissed from the disturbance, rises and gives them some really serious slaps! Bad bele na killa! ![]() It is really encouraging that a vital atery that links the SS, SE and Middle Belt has been given proper attention after so many years of neglect. |
Lol! Dude, you should really change your title to something like "Buhari holds secret meeting with cabal, IBB, Atiku!" The red eyed sharia desperado! Instead of going around the North to convince people about issues, he invested in extremist religious text messages against Jonathan; all the while, the cabal busied themselves renting and busing almajiri crowds around. |
Lovely article. Brilliant! |
@ Beaf; are u saying the pdp is incapable of breeding leaders like Fashola? U will call Amaechi and Chime. But if u live in Port-Horcourt u will know that the pdp in rivers is very much different from that predominant in the country. I do not have any say on Chime, I do not have first hand knowledge of the man or the situation in Enugu. will a man like Fashola thrive in a party like pdp with all its godfatherism and do-or die politicians, who play the politics of favoritism and zoning? Fashola is a man that only hardwork will bring him progress and he needs to be in the party that rewards hardwork and runs a fair and just system. u definitely will cry foul but the ACN is a more progressive party than the pdp (ultra conservatives)
LOL! Of course PDP can produce talent (some of whom you've named), but you can never have too much of a good thing! Thats why advanced democracies keep giving visa and passport preferences to scientists, inventors and technology gurus. A PDP that is sincere about taking the country forward, would headhunt every Fashola on the landscape.I believe that all Nigerian parties are the same. They all lack ideology and are basically interest groups jockeying for dividends from Abuja. However, there are clearly several visible and encouraging changes going on in PDP. The godfathers you talk about have been flushed out in quiet purges; the first was the cabal (they've run off to CPC), the second was with the transparent and commendable PDP primaries, and the 3rd happened last Saturday with the slaying of big beasts like Obj. Gra gra politics is now out of PDP, so a man like Fashola will thrive. It shouldn't affect ACN though if he leaves, cos it will be after his tenure as gov when there'll no new height to climb in ACN. . . .One more thing. With a GEJ win, I imagine all that zoning crap would be thrown out of the PDP constitution, replaced by merit and a more sensible way of representing Nigeria's diversity. |
Fashola is great as Governor but i have not seen any politicking from him. Politics is beyond excellent administrative skills or leadership qualities or visionary projects. It is a balancing act of diplomacy, statemanship, leadership and guile. Fashola may or may not hit the national stage but Tinubu is there, succeeding as we can see from the growth ( though small) of the ACN as an opposition party. Fashola might be the best governor in the whole world but without people like Tinubu (or any other political grand master), he will not get very far, ask Donald Duke.
My exact point. ![]() Donald Dukes political career after his governorship looks as dead as a dodo. And that is not because he lacks vision and ambition, it is instead, for want of machinery with national tentacles to propel him forward. I wouldn't want Fashola to go the same way. Tinubu is not playing on the national stage, neither does he have any reach or clout outside the SW, instead ACN is used outside the SW by politicians who need an easy ticket and they mostly tend to be dodgy like Akume and Udoedehe. Also, I don't see Tinubu ever allowing anyone outshine him in ACN; if Fashola has national ambitions (and God knows proven talents are needed at the centre), he will either need to build his machinery or join the PDP. |
Amen! May our dream come true! ![]() redsun:LOL! . . .The haunted! ![]() |
J12:I took one look at yoiur profile and pleasantly died! Jesu Kristi! |
Atiku's name has always been mentioned with bunkering and strange "militants," call it aboki MEND. But he isn't the only one. |
This is an open secret to all Niger deltans and we kept screaming it during the crisis period, but other Nigerians hardly believed it. The true bunkerers are ex-generals and "businessmen" from the core-North. It is well known that the militants killed an ex-presidents son in the creeks. The by force Northern consensus candidate stuff is all about access to oil theft. They know and the ND knows it. Northern consensus candidate = WAR. |
redsun:Do you recall the argument we had about if pimping wives for foreign papers is a good thing? Dude, you have no right to talk about morals, cos you have none. Its a changing country and for once, all Nigerians are proclaiming their love and pride. Its a beautiful time, |
Ijogz K:LOL! You got jokes!!! ![]() |
Stromae:Yes, they are key to his success and are very intimately involved with his campaign, recruiting religious bigots and almajiri crowds with their financial might and what not. Its all here dude: It was gathered that so far, Buhari’s men are relying on religion as the main campaign weapon to prosecute the election in parts of the North.http://www.tribune.com.ng/sun/index.php/front-page-articles/3323-buhari-shuns-acf-uf-elite-loses-grip-of-north-cpc-gubernatorial-candidate-arrested?fontstyle=f-smaller |
I am Goodluck Jonathan I never thought I would be where I am today I had no shoes, no school bag; I carried my books in my hands to school I have no enemies to fight I was not born rich I am Goodluck Jonathan If I can make it, you can make it Oya, vex if you wan vex! Burst if you wan burst! ![]() . . .But for once, the man on the street feels a deep sence of belonging; they feel a President they can bond, one who listens and feels foe them, one who is like them and desires the best for them. Is there ready proof of this? Oh yes! Not only has he barnished the demonic fuel shortages, he has ferried Nigerians out of foreign trouble spots (a first in Nigeria's history) and opened communication lines with Nigerians in disaster areas. Just last week, rather than the usual turmult and death, we actually had the first free and fair elections. . . .The list is unending, what a guy! Witness history as a New Nigeria is being built! There is victory in truth, simplicity, vision and goodwill to your fellow man. GEJ has the vision and dedication to set Nigeria on the path to realisation and development. GEJ is Nigeria's gateway to greatness. His defeat of the cabal and its sectional interests will begin our countries cleansing; it will open the path for leadership talent like the Sule Lamido's, Amaechi's, Akpabios's, Chime's, Fashola's, Utomi's etc to be able to contest by merit on a level playing field, in elections that are free and fair. Nigeria needs the cool, calm, wise, intelligent and reassured head that sits on Jonathans shoulders. He alone has the vision, honesty, diplomatic nous and social dexterity needed to weld the disparate parts of Nigeria into one indivisible union with shared goals and ideals. Of all the candidates, GEJ is the only one to display a grasp of the tools required for our technological development. From ideas to set 1% of our GDP aside for Research and Development in science and technology, to siezing control of petroleum industry from foreign parasites and spongers (like Shell) through far reaching programmes like the gas master-plans and petroleum industry bill (PIB); all of these amongst others. A truly great guy! Fresh Air 2011!! www.nairaland.com/attachments/396240_JonathanNigeria_jpge7a36aa6bc0c2d1c59341bf005b3e97c |
Stromae:Irrelevant? Damn! If Turai wasn't the cabals capone, it might be passable. Also, if it wasn't that other powerful members of the cabal are actively involved in Buhari's campaign, including recruiting almajiri's, then we might have let it pass. However, the reality is very worrying: It was gathered that so far, Buhari’s men are relying on religion as the main campaign weapon to prosecute the election in parts of the North.http://www.tribune.com.ng/sun/index.php/front-page-articles/3323-buhari-shuns-acf-uf-elite-loses-grip-of-north-cpc-gubernatorial-candidate-arrested?fontstyle=f-smaller |
abrahamzo:. . .Another one of the strange specie of Nigerian called, aboki Niger Deltan. Lol! |
danteweb:Has Ribadu been ejected? Why is he nowhere to be found on your poster? |
Moves:I doubt his 2nd term would be a disaster, he's already proven his mettle. There are a few others in his class like Akpabio, Sule Lamido, Sullivan Chime and Ameachi; all of these men need to serve in bigger roles outside the confines of their state. BTW, some of the projects you've mentioned are federal and others canot be completed in 4 years, so you're setting the bar a bit too high. Timehin:Gaddem! That would be a show stopper, but its the more reason he needs to destroy all links with Tinubu. Then he can flick the dust off his clothes and hit Abuja. |
Really? What is the Ideology of PDP? I know Fashola, Tinubu and ACN have gone on record to argue for State police, more State control of revenue, a weak center and even resource control -If we see them as the same ACN of the AC period- ACN Assembly members are always at the forefront of several reformist pushes in the HOA: FOI bill, diaspora voting e.t.c -I'm glad Uncle Sola Adeyeye of ACN is back in the House of Assembly as a Senator!- I wish we have more of them. whereas OBJ has gone on record to oppose a lot of these things on behalf of PDP and the Nigerian Military-Political Establishment, FOI bill comes to mind. That was also the difference between OBJ and Bola Ige +the founders of AC and by extention ACN. CPC has promised similar structural changes in addition to their stance on corruption, GEJ has not. I'm not sure if it's because GEJ does not believe these things are necessary or he's just trying to be strategic. Personally, I'm guessing he knew he won't win if he'd promise those things especially when he was running against Northern pro-establishment candidates in PDP. That is another reason why I doubt GEJ will have the balls to control the pro-establishment hawks and governors he's scared of opposing in PDP right now. On economic ideology; as confusing as the Nigerian "political-economic" landscape is, ACN has shown they can work well in a privatised environment in Lagos, but we can't speak too much about that since the power to privatise and liberalize most of our state companies and utilities lies with the Federal Government for now. But in the states controlled by the ACN (Lagos and Edo), we have seen a greater push for taxation and citizen involvement in government funding and that will only empower people to demand for more accountability. You saw that kind of citizen demand and empowerment during the Lagos Lekki Concession saga! people power forced Fashola to back down a bit! Taxes make the people powerful and ACN is encouraging it. What do we see in PDP states? What is GEJ's position and ideology? Weak center? strong center? resource control? state police? free press? Greater protection from state security? Taxation? welfarism? capitalism? socialism? True Federalism? I'm not hearing anything from my brotha in Aso Rock.
I wonder why the talk about Obj? He isn't PDP, he might be a senior member, but he isn't PDP and he ruled almost a decade ago. 90% of the things you mentioned do not form an ideology either. As for the bolded, GEJ is a quiet operator, something thats really necessary because of the type of politics we practice in Nigeria. You really need to keep your ear to the ground until after the elections, which GEJ will win by the grace of God. Until that time, I'll tell you though that he will take the party toward true federalism, a welfarist capitalism, citizen empowerment, education and technology; and they are already looking to alter the very obnoxious land use decree. A lot of these things cannot be discussed by the FG until the weeding of the farm is completed. You never know, when the box is opened, it might prick Fashola's interest. That man cannot be allowed to retire into obscurity when he is done as gov. |
forpeace:Abeg, we are talking about Fashola here. I'll be glad when the elections are over, cos a lot of you guys that just talk OP for no reason will be gone. |
MRbrownJAY:Its the gaps they had to the drivers behind them, thats why. Alonso had more than a 20 second gap, but Lewis had about 3 seconds only to the next man. Lewis really fell back so fast, it was incredible. |
montelik:No, Lewis places it on poor strategy from McLaren. Also both McLarens had the same number of tyres as the Red Bulls, and both teams had more choices than al the others after quali. IMHO McLaren thought the new ultra smooth Lewis could make it to the end without having to stop, hence the hard tyre choice. But in Malaysia yesterday, the 26-year-old was far from happy as he criticised the team's strategy, tyre choice and pit stops, before falling foul of the stewards again.http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/motor-racing/lewis-hamilton-points-to-consistency-in-title-challenge-2266343.html |
jason123:If GEJ wins the election, I believe there will be massive purges and restructuring in PDP. It would also become the first political party in this dispensation with an ideology. Perceptions of evil can be barnished quite rapidly and replaced with perceptions of caring sophistication. If the above happens, then in the next few months, the likes of Tinubu will begin to look as hideous as angels from Beelzebub, and Fashola would be in a hurry to drop any associations. |
sbeezy8:I used to have a babe from one of those families, so maybe me sef go join ACN! ![]() |
I think so too, Nigerians will become more sophisticated politically. I totally share that hope. BUT A sophisticated population does not need a one party, one ideology, political landscape. That will defeat the point of their sophistication. ACN has as much chance of becoming a National party as PDP had in '99. Let us appreciate the good fight ACN and other opposition parties gave the PDP behemoth in Benue, Kwara, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Ondo and other parts of Nigeria. Even ACN faced decent opposition from smaller parties in their region. Nigerians are the winner despite the allegations of rigging an intimidation. A one party state will do us no good. Politics is not a one way street, especially if you are hoping for a sophisticated political landscape.
You cannot fight a behemoth like PDP from a regional position. That will only entrench the one party state you so fear, cos regional parties will simply be swated aside like pesky flies. To go with the theme of the thread, none of the regional parties can ever get Fashola on the national scene where he belongs. ACN for one, has reached its zenith; outside Yoruba land, it has picked up mainly desperate politicians like Udoedehe and Akume; there are a couple of exception like Ngige though, but in his case, he is more like using ACN, since as an ex-gov, he has extensive polital machinery, he just needed a vehicle. |
sbeezy8:If he gets the opportunity to become a big dog in Nigeria, he'll sieze it and Nigeria will be glad for it. The issue to be resolved is how he can be furnished with the necessary tools after he finishes with Lagos in four years time. I mean. he's too young to retire like Jakande. |
jason123:Nigerians will indeed become more sophisticated politically, much more so than they are today. Now, in a politically sophisticated society, what part does a regional party have to play, except in local affairs? If Fashola ever needs to go national as a minister or for the top job, he would need national machinery. Thats practical. I just can't see how he can project himself from ACN thats a party Tinubu has built around extortion and patronage. Take away Fashola, and ACN becomes hollow. Of course Fashola can eject Tinubu from the party, remove all vestiges of the patronage system and run for office from there; but that it will be a 5 - 6 year project of blood and gore just to eject Tinubu and his patronage structure. After that, it would take another few years to rebuild the party and patch up wounds. |
