Politics › Re: Will Fashola Join PDP Or Will He Overthrow Tinubu In ACN? by Beaf(op): 2:13pm On Apr 11, 2011
jason123:
Beaf, Fashola WILL hit the National stage, with or without Tinubu. By the time fashola is ready, you and I know Nigerians will definitely vote for him. The God-fatherism of Tinubu has no way affected the development of Lagos. Moreover, Fashola is NOT a typical politician, he needs someone that can play the dirty politics Nigeria plays. For me, after GEJ, the winning ticket will be Fashola/ Chime or Fashola/ Amechi whether the North or Tinubu likes it or not.
It is interesting that both bolded names are PDP governors. I would also add the likes of Sule Lamido and Godswill akpabio.
Fact is, how is Fashola going to pair up with these men without joining the PDP?

Another way to see things as Fashola might, is to consider the spread of ACN and do soul searchingly realistic calculations of what the spread would be in 4 years time; especially since they were unable to make any real impact outside the SW.
Left to me, a reforming PDP is the perfect choice, but he could also build LP into a vibrant and dynamic party that could go national on the strength of his name alone. Afterall, he is the sole reason for the strength of ACN's name in and outside the SW.

Fashola will not leave ACN for PDP of all parties because he needs someone like Tinubu to play all the dirty politics while he can concentrate on worthwhile things like developing the state or country.
If Fashola ever plans to hit the national stage, he would have little choice. This is especially so as PDP is visibly reforming, with the pace at which things are going, the likes of Tinubu would become something to be spat on in Nigeria within a year max. Fashola is a very smart guy and wouldn't want to wait until its too late and others are sitting in his place; afterall, there have been underground exchanges between himself and PDP.
His other option (outside kicking Tinubu into the long grass) would be to join his lieutenants in LP and build it into a national party.

If not as President, I see Fashola as a strong minister of science and technology, or some other important area where the country is lacking. I do not see him doing this with the criminally inclined Tinubu sitting on his shoulder like a malignant cancer.

Actually I think Fashola would join hands with u to form the BEAF party.

Bullshhhite, ACN's waxing strong and there's nothing you can d about it. By 2019 PDP wud be likened to parties like Accord and Kowa, lol
Is there something lose in the heads of some NLers that they can't contribute sensibly to a topic? Who gives a damn about the relative strength or weakness of ACN?
We are talking leadership here, and Fashola cannot project himself on the national stage, while shackled to Tinubu. Tell us how you think he will deal with the Tinubu factor, instead of making contributions that don't make sense.

Politics › Will Fashola Join PDP Or Will He Overthrow Tinubu In ACN? by Beaf(op): 12:55pm On Apr 11, 2011
It is not possible for a true progressive like Fashola to remain morally, intellectually and aspirationally shackled to a widely despised criminal like Tinubu. At some point, he must break free.

The question is, where will he go? What are his next moves? He holds all the aces, especially given the  widely acknowledged fact that ACN’s popularity is wholly due to Fashola’s stellar leadership qualities.

At a point this year, after surviving several impeachment moves from Tinubu and his mob, there were strong rumours that Fashola was headed for PDP. As the rumour had it, all PDP's governorship aspirants for Lagos were instructed to clear the decks, because he was to be their undisputed candidate.
More fillip has been given to that view with the defection of Fashola’s lieutenants to LP, which is considered in the SW to be PDP’s halfway house.
The healthy reformist actions and gestures of a national party like the PDP from which Fashola’s ambitions could become national, could become too great an attraction. He is a very intelligent man, and there is no better time than now to join the PDP and be a part of the history of Nigeria's reformation and development.

Without doubt, we are headed for a very interesting political season in which Fashola comes of age, breaks out his wings and either seizes control of ACN from Tinubu, or looks at mistakes of CPC and does one of three things:
[li]Join the PDP[/li]
[li]Overthrow Tinubu[/li]
[li]Defect to LP and build it into a national party[/li]

Calculate it yourself and tell us how come the likes of Buhari looked in their crystal ball, declared Bayelsa people sub-human and didn't even think it necessary to connect Bayelsa to the national grid, despite getting a great proportion of Nigeria's oil from there.

Bayelsa Hooks to National Grid This Week
28 December 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lagos — BAYELSA State, long without public power supply from the national grid operated by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) would this week be connected to the grid.

Already, Power and Steel Minister, Senator Liyel Imoke has directed the contractor handling the project- Pivot Engineering to ensure that the state does not enter the new year without being hooked to the national grid which control centre is at Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The best Nigerian bigot game is, blame the victim. LOL!

We have a govt at last that will wipe away Bayelsa's tear's for their thankless sacrifice to Nigeria.

What the hell is wrong with Bayelsahuh Upon all the oil they produce and the revenue they get. I really think oil is not equal to development. Rather, good leadership is equal to development. I mean, after Lagos, look at Delta state? I am sure it is the trade and other commercial activities that allowed the development of those states, no?
That question must go to the likes of Buhari and all former rulers who only saw fit to ra'pe the land that gave us our first oil wells and produces more oil than any other area. Bayelsa was only connected to the national grid in December 2005! Go figure.

I dont need your tears - if it is for rest of Nigeria then it is accepted. In the history of Nigeria the SW regions remains the politically developed part of Nigerian which should be a model for every other region should follow until we can have a national party that would cater for the needs of every Nigerian unfortunately PDP is not the party. The need to vote for individual rather than parties in itself will also not work for Nigeria. Stronger regional parties remains the best option for now.
It is painful. but my tears are for you and the last laugh is loud.

I recall your equally rude and bigoted brother not being able to correctly interprete this map, because he is as blinded by bigotry as you are. That map surely shows the Middle Belt and SS to be more developed than the SW outside of oil.
Political sophistication and development go hand in hand:

Dear Beaf,
As much as I support GEJ like you, wouldn't you think that your language and manner of addressing other Candidates, is wrong?
Perhaps you would agree that the participation of Buhari not only gave PDP the jitters but has ensured the party does not have absolute majority - and that is good for our dear Country.
Nigeria is a beautiful place and blessed with great people (including Buhari). We all do have varied approaches to solving our national challenges but calling former Head of State a beast, is taking it too far, sir.
When Buhari took over power from Shagari et al, though I was affected, but I did trust he had good motives for the country. I do have a lot of respect for him and still think we should not vilify him for his past.
I indeed recognise that it is the norm in Nairaland to abuse and denigrate people under cover of aliases, but we do no justice to the character of GEJ if we dumb down to the mutt mind. As they say: if you play with pigs, you would get dirty - what's more, the pigs love it. I trust you are no pig. It shouldn't be in our character.
Cheers
You will notice that I have never referred to either Ribadu or Shekarau as beasts.
However, Buhari is a primitive sharia addled red-eyed beast; and I have no regrets for telling the truth as it is.

Who killed innocent young men with backdated laws? Who jailed Ekwueme in Kirikiri while keeping Shagari in luxorious "house arrest?" Who made telling the truth a jailable crime under decree 2? Who made it possible to jail anybody for no stated reason and without legal recourse under decree 4? Who made the application that saw Nigeria smuggled into the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) by IBB? . . .I could go on and on.

Buhari is a primitive beast. cool

Question: 'How come the Northern Caucus of the National Assemble, Northern Governors have suddenly gone quiet on Jonathan's presidency unlike the case during the PDP Presidential Primaries?' Sherma did it and has paid dearly, Sambo is doing it, and he has paid dearly, the others have kept quiet, they were rewarded.
