LOL! The reality is that people on the ground in Nigeria who know where the shoe pinches are all for GEJ. Those who don't know what is going on after staying too long abroad are for the monster called Buhari. How anybody that has tasted freedom abroad can root for a man who made speaking the truth a crime so long as it embarrassed govt, is absolutely beyond me (find out about decree's 2 and 4, if you are still unaware). |
blacksta:Ask Aisha and stop being silly, she is a mod who knows who is who. Don't switch to the default escape mode of stone throwing and empty talking, there's a topic at hand. |
aisha2:At least she wasn't campaigning in Igbo or Ijaw like Buhari is campaigning in Hausa. Thats the difference. As for gloating, Buhari will be there again in 2015 stretching out his everlasting failed runs to a record. lol |
aisha2:Do you want to take on the burden of the "some of you" that I mentioned? Stop picking a fight where there is none. At the time you worked hard for SNG, but it was all idealistic. In fact, you almost convinced me, but I know Tunde Bakare rather well (you will notice that all my posts on him have been very consistent). I also looked at the SNG and was totally unconvinced by Yinka Odumakin. The only convincing top people in SNG were the likes of Wole Soyinka and Tunji Olurin. They have since turned their backs on all vestiges of the organisation, Bakare used them all. |
honeric01:He should try to limit his campaign slogans to English, otherwise he is campaigning to Hausa speakers only. |
honeric01:How can someone who siezed power by coup bring true federalism? Does it make sense? Do you really think deep down that Buhari is cerebral enough to grasp the concept? Or diplomatic enough to sell it? GEJ's manifesto promises true federalism, and I believe him. Thank you. He is cerebral, diplomatic, cool and calm. His chances of success with such a project are way higher than Buhari's. |
spikedcylinder:"Sai Buhari" means his campaign is for Hausa speakers only. |
aisha2:I have an ideology. What is yours? Every word I utter on NL is backed by that ideology, not on whimsy things like Buhari's wifes beauty. I chose GEJ from the time of the Yar Adua saga, and I have stuck to my guns. Some of you claiming to have been GEJ's supporters never ever were (eg Gbawe), but were cabal, zoning and Yar Adua cheerleaders; promoters of decay. My dream for Nigeria is one where we have freedom of speech, garantee of human rights, equity, justice and fairplay. Things that can only come with true federalism and empowering of the private sector as an engine for growth and development. Rapid development has already taken place in some of these areas in GEJ's brief 9 months at the helm. The man is quiet, but his vison is comprehensive. Politics is practical business and Nigeria is a very disparate country with a low literacy, where even the educated fall victim to rumour and hearsay. Some say GEJ has not been active, but thats just street banter. The man is the quiet type that doesn't scream his acheivements. There has been tremendous movement in power supply, fuel supply, the dredging of the Niger has been concluded; despite powerful opposition from Nigeria's owners (the likes of Shell and Chevron), the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) is gaining heavy traction; contrary to the rumour mill, Nigeria's external Reserves have grown, in the last two weeks it did so by a staggering $2billion added. Because of GEJ's freedom and human rights stance, political opponents like Ribadu were once in exile, but are as free as you and I, they can even contest for the highest position in the land. The FOI bill has been passed in the lower house and is sure to be passed by the Senate. For the first time in Nigeria's history, govt will set aside 1% of GDP for Research and Development grants to the private and public sectors. I could go on and and on. . . Nigeria's future is bright with GEJ. Fresh Air 2011! |
Is this real? If it isn't, then that pic should be deleted. Let CPC folk alone play dirty. |
Are we going to be voting for candidates wives? . . .By the way, I have her picture (I'd wanted to unleash it on that genbuhari guy that's been claiming she's a born again Christian). |
It is Buhari supporters that are abusive and short on logic. They open threads specifically to bash individuals. Nigeria cannot continue with such ill-bred politics, thats why it is time for fresh air and out with the old and men that step on their own tongues like Bakare. We know thugs, their sponsors – SSS NewsMar 15, 2011 By JIDE AJANI, Editor, Northern Operations ABUJA – THE State Security Service, SSS, yesterday, read what could be described as a Riot Act to sponsors of political violence in the country just as it pledged to accord all political parties a level playing field. The service which said it has already identified thugs and their sponsors, declared that it was prepared to keep them away from the society. In a communiqué after a meeting held behind closed doors between the Director General, DG, of the SSS, Ekpenyong Ita, and leaders of political parties, the service said: “The aim of the SSS in this election is to assist all stakeholders to deepen democracy in Nigeria and also strengthen its institutions. The SSS is determined to assist you all make democracy the only form of government acceptable to all Nigerians. “However, the emerging trends in the polity are becoming sources of great security concern. The essence of this meeting, therefore, is to work together and map out strategies on how to reduce tension, violence and make the forthcoming elections free, fair and credible. Issues of security concern “Some of the issues of security worry include: Divisive politics which tends to divide instead of unite us. The penchant of the average politician to fall back to religion as a political tool. “This is not good enough. The use of violence on political opponent constitutes a great danger to the election. There is also the frightening dimension of introduction of bombing during campaign rallies. There is also an increase in the crime of defacing or outright destruction of campaign posters and offices. “There is also the problem of several court cases still pending few weeks to the elections; denial of venues by some state governments to the opposition parties; proliferation of arms, and use of hard drugs.” The SSS then unveiled its plan of action thus: Provision of security to all parties before, during and after electioneering campaigns and the election proper. Provision of level playing ground to all political parties in order to ensure a free and fair elections. “We have identified thugs and their sponsors and we are determined to keep them away from the society.” Vanguard gathered that the meeting became imperative in the light of disturbing signals received by the organization. Last week, the SSS arrested two politicians and is still continuing its investigation into the reasons for their arrest. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/03/we-know-thugs-their-sponsors-sss/ |
blink182:Lol! thats the same way the youths in the UK voted in a useless govt and were the first to protest and riot and burn. Dude, listen to your mum, she's right and has got wisdom from years. All the UK youths wanted was a younger bunch in office, they weren't too concerned with much else, but here's how they reacted to their own choice: https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/multimedia/dynamic/00408/UK_News_6-1_jpg_408381t.jpg |

Jarus:Jarus, there are a few good people like you on NL (at least that's my perception). But never be deceived by those around you. The figures for poll I created right here on NL were blatantly changed last year. You can't have forgotten the uproar that caused. Also, I'm just returning from a ban, not for any offense, but only because people lobbied for it. Is it not the same NL? Atiku did the same and failed woefully. So will Buhari. |
^ So, you have no answer to what I posted earlier? Typical! Dude, drop the rumours and lies jare! They are obvious. |
Pukkah:Really? If I recall rightly, GEJ was not the only one to reject the other debates. His main contender, Buhari did so too. Right now, GEJ is challenging all comers, especially Buhari. Do they have anything to offer the country and can they even begin to justify any of the promises they have made? If the NN24 sham was anything to go by, their entire political ideology can be summed up in the words, "PDP has been in power for 12 years, we want to be in power instead." Sadly, that is not good enough for a nation of 140 million. It is time to ask if Buhari is scared. ![]() |
I'm just here to laugh. Niger dredging contract cancelled? Something that has been completed? This NL sef! ![]() This is even from the enemy press: http://dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=13033:now-that-the-niger-has-been-dredged&catid=24:star-feature As for the so called depleted Foreign Reserves, is the same one that grew by $2billion to $38.6billion in the last three weeks? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Abeg, do your research and stop lying. You can confirm the Foreign Reserves figure from the CBN website. I don't have time for the rest of the rubbish article. |
Dude, webmasters are paid to doctor polls everywhere. Atiku kept leading in All polls. . . Then GBOA!!! ![]() |

The way investors have lined up to invest heavily in Nigeria's power sector is very heartening. There has been $20billion worth of interest shown so far for 2011, even though the level of annual investment required is half that at $20billion. There is little doubt that immense benefits in power generation will be felt within the next two years. This is the ideal time to plan; with cost of spending on electricity dropping 40%, the coast will be clear for Nigeria to become a competitive manufacturing hub. I can picture high tech industries dotting the landscape in places like Nnewi, Lagos, Warri and Port Harcourt. The contract for the building of the 2600 MW Mambilla power station that has been on the books for donkey years was finally signed a couple of weeks ago. Good things are coming. |
seanet02:I scare you, don't I? Its the very effect of truth on falsehood, light on darkness. |
Lol. I would advise the other candidates to take up the offer for a debate. This one is open to the entire Nigerian public, it is not the sort of jamboree that we've witnessed, created just for elites on private TV stations. So many of you had to even wait for downloads to be available on youtube; this will be LIVE! LOL! This will be open to the entire nation, what are you people scared off? ![]() Jonathan has thrown the challenge. |
I will not step down for anybody, says Shekarau By Festus Owete March 15, 2011 05:53AM The presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in the April election, Ibrahim Shekarau, says he will not step down for anybody because he is the most credible and acceptable candidate in the race. He spoke against the backdrop of reports that he might step down for an unnamed presidential candidate of northern extraction. Mr. Shekarau is currently the governor of Kano State and will finish his second term in May this year. Insisting that he will pursue his ambition of ruling the country to the end, the ANPP candidate who spoke through his media aide, Yau Sule Yau, while receiving the 72 ANPP leaders from the Niger Delta who endorsed his ambition in Abuja yesterday, said it was unreasonable to withdraw from the race because he has the answer to the nation’s problems. He argued that it was the other candidates that should step down for him, adding that he is most credible and acceptable candidate from the north. The governor added that the northern leaders would not allow him to quit the race for another candidate. Mr. Shekarau traced the source of the rumour of his planned withdrawal from the race to his response to a question during a television interview. He explained that some people merely misinterpreted response that he would be willing to step down if asked by the Northern Leaders Caucus to do so. According to him, the North has already accepted his candidacy, not only because he is fresh but also because he bears no grudge with anyone and has no score to settle with Nigerians. He stated that Nigerians are beginning to see the right candidate in him just as he described himself as the only person that has the capacity to move the country forward. “Nigerians are beginning to identify the right candidate, not a party,” he said. “Nigerians are beginning to identify the right candidate that will lead this country. I believe this is what is going to happen in the forthcoming election. Nigerians are tired; Nigerians are yearning for change and the only person that can bring that change is Malam Shekarau.” Also speaking at the forum, the leadership of the Shekarau Solidarity Movement (SSM) said it endorsed the ANPP candidate in the interest of the country. Kingsley Okafor who leads the group, said Mr. Shekarau would bring his achievement as Kano State governor to bear in the entire country. He stated that he is championing Mr. Shekarau’s election because he (Shekarau) is a good and marketable product and has the capacity to transform the country. “I have seen the man Nigerians can rely on to get to the next level. I have seen the man that has broken the jinx of underdevelopment in Kano,” Mr. Okafor said. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5683282-146/i_will_not_step_down_for.csp |
Way to go. The North is one part of the country in dire need of economic development and a massive literacy drive. There have been several Northern govts led by the very same Ciroma types that are currently striving to pull us backward with their sick politics of bigotry. They need to be overthrown for the supressed younger progressive leaders that abound in the section. Sadly, ACF has joined the clueless lot that see's kids as political fodder through the almajiri system, rather than as humans with every right as you and I to a quality life, health, education and happiness. The time for such backward reaching organisations is up. |
Polls: Presidency moves to counter ACF, plans Northern Economic Summit . Tuesday, 15 March 2011 00:00 Godw62in Isenyo. https://www.compassnewspaper.com/images/stories/Politics/jonathan_action24.jpg IN its move to counter the security summit being planned by the pan- Northern socio-political organisation, the Arewa Consultative Forum(ACF), the Presidency is also planning a Northern Economic Summit for Thursday in Kaduna. A statement by the Secretary of the Northern Economic Summit Group, Alhaji Buhari Bala, and made available to the Nigerian Compass yesterday said President Goodluck Jonathan would attend the occasion. Besides, Vice President Namadi Sambo and other political leaders from the North are billed for the summit being planned to brainstorm on the economic and political future of the North. The summit has as its theme “An Agenda For Economic And Social Transformation Of The North.” The statement quoted the Chairman of the group and Convener of the summit, Professor Jerry Gana, as saying that former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) and former President Shehu Shagari would co-chair the event. It adds: “Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, will deliver the lead paper entitled: “Mobilising Capital for the Economic Development of Northern Nigeria. “The summit will find ways of rebuilding the North, restore its economic fortune, alleviate poverty and improve human capital development.” Only recently, the leadership of the ACF was widely reported to be mobilising support for one of the leading presidential candidates in the April polls, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) of the Congress for Progressive Change(CPC), but the forum has denied any such move. However, the ACF, while lauding the President over his stance on the need for free, fair and credible polls next month, claimed that it only issued a statement on a planned security experts’ meeting, which recommendations would be forwarded to the President for implementation to assist in curbing insecurity in the country. At a press conference held in Kaduna, the National Publicity Secretary of the forum had said: “We were taken aback by misleading reports in some national dailies (the Nigerian Compass not inclusive), saying that we are mobilising retired generals for Buhari, the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change(CPC). “ACF hastens to correct insinuations in certain circles that a planned meeting of experts in security matters is to drum up support for a particular presidential candidate in the forthcoming general elections. “We only issued a statement to organise a meeting of retired security experts, including the police, army, prison, air force, navy and others, and after the meeting, the recommendations will be forwarded to Mr. President for implementation.” However, the Nigerian Compass gathered that the planned economic summit for the North by the Presidency was to counter the ACF summit slated for this week. “I can tell you authoritatively that the economic summit is just another way of the Presidency checkmating leading Northern politicians as the April elections are around the corner. The far North is not comfortable with the Jonathan Presidency. What happened during the PDP Presidential primaries on January 13 is not being taken lightly and with the soaring popularity of the CPC presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidency is out to get the region,” the source said. http://www.compassnewspaper.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2343:-polls-presidency-moves-to-counter-acf-plans-northern-economic-summit&catid=308:headlines&Itemid=600 |
Why is anyone surprised? Goodluck Jonathan [the incumbent] is from a very small ethnic group, Sadly, even if he were the best person for the job, northern Nigeria would never accept it. He is not electable.http://www.economist.com/blogs/baobab/2010/11/interview_nihu_ribadu https://media.economist.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/original-size/20101113_MAP505_290.jpg |
blacksta:LOL! Why would anyone be so engrossed with the virtual World that is NL, to the extent that they develop real hatreds? It’s damn childish and weird if you ask me. By the way, the Beaf id has been free to post for days now, but I already re-registered as U de vex? (a name packed with meaning ). You guys have only revealed how weak and pathetic you are by campaigning and lobbying for me to be banned for absolutely no reason, except that the coast should be clear for lies and rumour to reign supreme. You succeeded and I was banned without offense, but has it changed the truth? Is truth muzzled? By all means, muzzle Beaf; there are a million others on the side of progress. Indeed, Mukina even warned that she would ban me forever. Has it changed me? That’s where you lot have failed abysmally. You failed dude. lol What sort of fear of the truth drives a grown man to such lengths? What sort of fear of an opposing voice does that to bearers of falsehoods? Dude, you can publish false stories, jeer and throw stones as usual; nobody really expects more from your type, but bystanders observe the corruption and gang like behaviour on NL and are thoroughly appalled. I have challenged Mukina to point out my offense, but she has been unable to point it out (because there is none). I have also asked how come so many non-moderators knew Beaf was banned. . . Still, radio silence. U de vex? LOL! PS: Why don’t you take this opportunity to ask Mukina if I am Johndoe, Wesley80, Nsiman, againstGEJ, Time2Think, Ma j Blige, pot_of_soup and a thousand other screwed on, bloody intelligent progressives on NL? |
