Abagworo:So lives are lost and you laugh? Do you have a soul of any description? Shame on you. As usual, you are talking stup!dly. If you are too mentally light and morally bankrupt to contribute meaningfully to a topic of such gravity, I suggest you just walk on by. You are spitting on flesh and blood. The problems of the ND existed before Yar Adua's amnesty sham. The so called amnesty did not cause the problem, so what sort shallow logic are you importing? Not only are you illogical, you have used the opportunity to broadcast evil lies, which ex-militants have been given Abuja houses and oil wells? The funny thing is you will be the loudest in church on Sunday. Please respect yourself. |
^ I believe we must press for heads to roll, regardless of whose ox is gored. Human life isn't toilet roll. John Togo is a known armed robber, but that does not mean that innocent lives be wasted in his pursuit. On the resolution of the Niger Delta crisis, I am 100% in agreement with you. The so called amnesty paid off both genuine militants and opportunistic criminals, in any event, it was a short term and shortsighted strategy; concrete steps now need to be taken. |
Poor Ribadu! Chewed and spat out by the drug trade stained Tinubu. I have little simpathy for him now though, since he made the comment that GEJ is from a tiny ethnic group that the North would not accept and so is unelectable: www.economist.com/blogs/baobab/2010/11/interview_nihu_ribadu |
Some of the JTF actions were totally beyond the pale. It is on record that the villagers pointed out the exact location John Togo's camp to JTF (some 3 kilometres from the innocent village JTF attacked). Its hard to tell if some of these soldiers are bloody daft, heads must roll. |
This Sahara Reporters and their news that only they know about sef! Having said that, Atiku will not survive the US searchlight, there will be no presidential immunity for him, cos that is all he's desperately working for. ![]() |
Their actions packed with "legislatitive rascality and paliamentary gambadoism." ![]() Yeye people, sitting down to chop heavy money for doing nothing. |
Koikoi:Exactly! I'm of the opinion that they only returned the money after govt had whispered to the press. If not, why should Odumakin say they were scared govt was "playing dirty" by going to the press? |
Can you imagine? Even Nairaland doesn't like the man sef! Ok check na! manliness Cheney, manliness Cheney, manliness Cheney, manliness Cheney, manliness Cheney, manliness Cheney, manliness Cheney. . . Why can't we write D.i.c.k without stress on NL? Nutin do NL jare! Carry go! ![]() |
This trick has been used for too long to funnel oil money into strange accounts and then skim off the interest into personal accounts. Buhari did it with $2.8billion in the 80's, Ugwuoha is doing it with a bit less in 2010. It is a real shame. |
GAR3TH:You will be shocked that they can. There are 3 countries that are "above" the law in todays World, the US, China and Russia. Any case against Cheney is likely to be done with US say so; its most likely that US authorities want a local outcome from Cheney for which the Nigerian angle is a bargaining chip which will die down once the US has what it wants. |
Kgdavid:Tell me my broda! Would soldiers, SS and guard dogs have launched an attack? Would Orubebe have unleashed uppercuts? The stories are too many and too different, especially as they are all from a single source, the SNG. Like you pointed out, their stories don't even make sense. How does rejecting money create a scene (why didn't offering it create a scene)? Why did they have to take the money to their hotel and count it? To my mind, what we are seeing from the SNG is a spooked reaction from being caught playing dirty games. Odumakin specifically mentioned that he thought govt was "playing dirty" by informing the press. Now, why would he think that? Million dollar question! |
half of bayelsa state was in the western region. they try to cut off the ijaw into western region. This is what lead to the story of Isaac boro and how the story of MEND started.
That is not true. Bayelsa was part of Rivers state and Rivers state was once in the Eastern Region. I can only see a fresh recurrence of war Ivory Coast. Until men like Gbagbo have breathed their last, the people will not know peace. |
Onlytruth:No, it will depend on how the data is presented. It would have to be 100% professional, 100% honest, on its own website etc. Even if bias creeps in, there will be counters, and then counter-counters until the govt realises the need to man up and provide accurate statistics. |
Pretty interesting. I guess a good idea. If you have a 5th column in your midst, then it makes sense to see it moved out, rather than letting it undermine you from within.
Oga, what do you mean by 5th columnist? The problem we have in the SS / SE corner of the Nigeria are different worldviews toward problems that are similar. We have a situation where the political problem and goals are an exact match, but the direction to take is coloured the Igbo need to match the political clout of the core North and SW with a sphere of influence of their own; and a dogged fightback by the minorities who do no wish to be dominated and relegated to the part of playing pun. Whichever way you look at it, the SE and SS are missing a trick and Nigeria is losing out. How? Any cooperation between SS and SE will need to be above ethnicity (just like is the case within the SS); as soon as the immense power of such a union is unleashed, it would not be long before that same sort of cooperation extends to the SW and radiates outward and Northward. I believe the SE can see the real threat in not forming what should be a natural symbiosis with the SS before the SS extends its highly successful post-ethnic style cooperation to the Middle Belt. |
^ Why can't people like yourself, who are equiped with the skills and tools provide scientific population estimates from satellite data? Dude, you can easily do it. Let the era of deception fade away through citizen power. |
JTF raids suspected hideout of Togo in Delta Written by Sylvester Idowu, Warri Friday, 03 December 2010 HEAVY gunshots reverberated in the creeks of Ayako-romor and Obotebe in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, on Thursday, as operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) again raided suspected hideout of militant leader, John Togo. Nigerian Tribune gathered that the operation lasted for several hours and saw to the exchange of gunfire before the soldiers of the JTF again overwhelmed the militants. It was learnt that John Togo fled the scene deep into the creeks, when he realised the superior fire power of the military had taking a toll on his foot soldiers. Security sources told the Nigerian Tribune on Thursday night that the operation, which started at about noon, dragged till about 5.00 p.m, as soldiers searched the creeks to apprehend the fleeing militant leader. Meanwhile, the people of Ayakoromor community have appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to prevail on the JTF commander to call his men to order. Speaking on behalf of the community, Vice-President, Ayakoromor Federated Communities Elder Bernard Brialade and Urban Chairman, Ayako-romor community,Chief Albert Doutimiyebo, said the bombardment of innocent citizens of the community should stop. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/14287-jtf-raids-suspected-hideout-of-togo-in-delta |
alj harem:See this cow! I thought foolishness had killed you and your alter ego, jason1234. No? Anyway sha, you're still evolving; so no biggie! ![]() |
^ Abeg flee! Who is giving you credit for multiplying like a unicellular organism? How can that be worth any credit? Ode buruku! |
^ I had been wondering when you would remove your thousand useless masks and post as yourself. Lolz. Me too, I de wait for after elections. Thats when sanity will return to you guy's debating skills. |
I don't see why there should be a fight over the South South. It is here to stay and was born out of the far sightedness of Alex Ekueme. God bless that man for it, now lets have the cooperation (rather than rivalry) it was meant to foster. |
If the FG charges Dick Cheney, it would make life so much easier for US prosecutors. The Nigerian end would be likely to be disorganised with thousands of loose ends the FBI can latch unto. If the prosecution goes ahead, then I wouldn't be quick to laugh. Cheney's arse might just be had. 9ja be like wikileaks o! ![]() |
debosky:In that crazy moment, will we also find the reason why it was the govt that informed the press? Why was Odumakin also scared that the govt was "playing dirty" on them? Really curious! |
oyb:How was "work" today? I can imagine it was really disorganised. ![]() Dude, keep your arse quiet. Either counter arguments, or exit if you lack the brains and morals to do so. |
Eziachi:My bad. With more recent developments, I believe my words were a bit early. From Odumakins words that the Presidency informed the press, do you still think the money was "unsolicitated?" It seems that SNG might have asked for a bribe and govt definitely told the press about it. Since then, we have heard only one side. |
^ Na, how can we be done with it? In fact, I think its going to be with us for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time! ![]() Charlie, this is a scandal, and we are gonna see the true face of ojuju after it is unmasked. |
We then learnt that the meeting leaked through the other party. At that point, it became clear that some people were out to do some dirty job. It was later revealed to us that the story that was actually sold was that we collected money from the Presidency.Should this matter be probed? Hell yes! ![]() A probe might reveal something like, "we demanded a bribe from the Presidency." But the Presidency obliged and placed a phonecall to the press, leaving the top SNG guy's in a state of confusion. I pity their followers, cos it looks like they are being taken for a ride. |
Below are words that popped out of the mouth of an SNG leader, Yinka Odumakin and they are words Pastor Tunde Bakare has sworn are accurate: Narrating his case earlier today on naijapolitics, a popular listerv, Mr. Odumakin wrote as follows: “After the meeting with the President, he left the wing where we met for another [wing] and said ‘please don't go yet I'm coming’. Sensing what that could [mean] we headed for our cars…We would have left before Orubebe emerged from the president with a brown envelope but for the fact that the drivers were not allowed to stay in the cars.”Ok, lets summarise possibilities; SNG goes to Aso Rock, SNG asks for bribe, a shocked govt gives them some marked notes and leaks the story to the press. SNG is scared of press exposure, returns money and makes a lot of "righteous" noise, while FG is quiet and might possibly take further actions. |
