debosky:Maybe you missed that money never exchanged hands (which is too be expected from a mere offer, abi unu get anoda definition of "offer?" . So explain the magical feats of divining that it was 50,000.00 and it was Dollars and it was in 100 bills and it was in 5 bundles.I am waiting, cos it seems like voodoo logic is becoming the order of the day on NL. . . .Land of comedy! ![]() |

I know its an "ability" thing sha . . .Just too donkey brained. ![]() Its so funny that you have not a single strand of logic in you. My arguments are way superior to anything you can muster, so you turn to the gutter for inspiration as usual! All hail foolish people! ![]() All hail agbero's! ![]() |
presido1:Dude, cut the crap. I stopped quoting Sahara Reporters very long ago, so abeg stop lying na. . . .And if you love IBB, thats your burden sir. |
9ijaMan:Dude, you are damn funny! What a wretched peace of logic! Tunde Bakare has stated very clearly that:
[li]they were only offered transport fare[/li] [li]at no time did money exchange hands[/li]
Charlie, if money never exchanged hands, how was it counted? Are you saying Tunde Bakare is a serious winsh that can count what he hasn't even seen? Dude, that puts the $50,000.00 figure in the realm of street corner, alaye style "deduction." Surely not something for the educated! If the money was never seen or exchanged, how come it was "known" to be in 5 bundles of $100 dollar bills? Na wa! So you mean Tunde Bakare has some wicked okija style winshcraft that see visions of the unknown? Why didn't the visions show him Naira or Pound Sterling instead, why Dollars? Dude, its a mystery! Its a miracle! All hail Sahara Reporters for supplying us with "details!" And all hail our wretched educational system for producing low quality goods that ain't fit for purpose. I de laugh o! |

Allowances: NASS accuses Executive of treason •Senators, Reps summon Aganga, Sanusi, others •Lawmakers mutilated key electoral reform recommendations – Uwais By Adetutu Folasade-Koyi, Rotimi Akinwumi (Abuja) and Rafiu Ajakaye (Lagos) On Tuesday, Senators rattled by newspaper reports accused President Goodluck Jonathan of treason by orchestrating a warfare against the National Assembly (NASS) which has pitched the public against the legislature. The House of Representatives is equally aggrieved. However, former Chief Justice Muhammadu Uwais has piled up the pressure by accusing federal lawmakers of deliberately mutilating key recommendations of the Electoral Reform Committee (ERC) to keep the status quo and favour themselves. The Senate has summoned Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Sanusi Lamido, and Finance Minister Olusegun Aganga to explain the allegations about funds allocated to the NASS. They are to appear before the Senate today, alongside Presidential Assistant on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Amina Al-Zubair. Senators on Tuesday looked beyond statements credited to Jonathan’s Ministers and aides, less than 24 hours after the Senate replied Lamido that lawmakers do not collect 25 per cent of the recurrent expenditure of the federal budget. Aganga disclosed on Monday that efforts were underway to cut the recurrent expenditure of the NASS, recalling that he had personally raised the issue of the huge expenditure of the NASS before now. A day after, the Senate at plenary analysed the attacks on the NASS coming from the Ministers and concluded that there is more to it than meets the eye. To the lawmakers, comments from the executive are akin to declaring war on the legislature – and a rally cry to “save democracy” reverberated in the Chamber. Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, Jibril Aminu, fired the first salvo when he described comments from Sanusi and Aganga as a declaration of war on the NASS, and by extension, on democracy. “This is a serious matter and I would advise that we handle it with maturity. I believe this is a war that is being funded and orchestrated by the executive. It’s not difficult to see it,” Aminu argued. “They attack us, even through people we least expect to do so. We’ve treated Aganga and Sanusi very well here. “We are actually fighting for democracy and I say that we must not give up on the amendment of the electoral laws. People who know pretend not to know. They are abusing us, they are abusing democracy.” Power and Steel Committee Vice Chairman, Uche Chukwumerije, viewed the comments as “a deliberate act of incitement that go beyond (Aganga). The earlier we tackle them, the better. This is an ill-wind that blows no side any good.” Information and Media Committee Chairman, Ayogu Eze, said: “This is an equivalent of treason. It’s an attempt to arrest democracy. We should take this more seriously. Somebody is trying to take us to where we are coming from. “This is an ambush on democracy; trying to truncate democracy by denigrating the NASS which is the symbol of democracy.” Senate President David Mark agreed that, “They owe us explanations and more importantly, they owe the nation an explanation. Obviously, there’s more to it than is coming up now. They are lies and there’s no iota of truth whatsoever in whatever they are saying.” Senate Deputy Leader told his colleagues that there is a deliberate act by the executive to incite Nigerians against the NASS. His words: “On Monday, we woke up to screaming headlines about allocation of 25 per cent of the recurrent expenditure to the (NASS). The headlines attributed the comments to (Sanusi). “As if that wasn’t enough, today (Tuesday), (Aganga) said the government has moved to cut the budget of the NASS in the 2011 Appropriation Bill. “The national budget for 2010 is N4.4 trillion and what was appropriated to the NASS is just N158 billion.” He said to suggest that this appropriation, which is 3.5 percent of the national budget, amounts to 25 per cent, is, “to say the least, mischievous. There’s a calculated attempt to incite the public against the NASS. What the public has done is to attribute what is overheads in running the NASS to what we collect as wages and allowances.” Senate Chief Whip Mahmud Bello accused Sanusi of blackmail. “To make matters worse, for (Sanusi) to say we are ‘eating,’ because what he’s saying is that we are ‘eating,’ is pure blackmail. This blackmail is too much,” Bello moaned. Deputy Minority Leader Olorunnimbe Mamora recounted how he was “highly traumatised and depressed when I read the report. I asked myself: Is it a crime to be a member of the NASS? Why should we go through this because we are NASS members?” National Intelligence and Security Committee Chairman, Nuhu Aliyu, described the Presidential aides as rumour mongers. Deputy Minority Whip Kabiru Gaya pleaded that Sanusi “was misquoted; but having said that, this is deliberate attempt to damage the image of the NASS. We should press ahead with the amendment of the electoral laws.” Today, another meeting of the PDP caucus in the Senate will address “crucial issues affecting the party and the polity. Please, all of you are required to attend immediately after sitting,” Mark said. Both Lamido and Aganga also came up for knocks in the House of Representatives, which equally invited them to explain their comments. The House urged Sanusi to desist from utterances capable of ridiculing the integrity, reputation, and patriotism of NASS members. Halims Agoda (PDP, Delta), who tabled a motion that was unanimously adopted, said the allegations by Sanusi are damaging to the NASS, and should be subjected to further investigation and forensic analysis. Igo Aguma (PDP, Rivers) said Sanusi’s comments showed disloyalty and demanded his resignation. Patrick Ikhariale (PDP, Edo) said the comments portray NASS members as thieves before other Nigerians. But Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi (PDP, Enugu), Banking and Finance Committee Chairman, cautioned that Sanusi was probably quoted out of context. He said the comments by Sanusi were a bye-product of information given to him by Aganga, and both of them should be invited to appear before the House tomorrow. Speaker Dimeji Bankole urged his colleagues not to be deterred by such comments to continue to tell the truth at all times. Speaking on electoral reform, Uwais, the retired Chief Justice, also knocked the political parties, particularly Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for not backing the reform efforts of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua. Uwais expressed regret that Yar’Adua’s commitment appeared to be at variance with the interest of PDP hawks who watched while NASS members shoved aside the blueprint to overhaul the system. Uwais chaired the 22-man ERC whose recommendations enjoyed huge support among the masses and the civil society who hailed them as the touchstone for credible elections. He spoke in Lagos at the Electoral Integrity Lecture series hosted by the Obafemi Awolowo Institute of Government and Public Policy (OAIGPP). The event was attended by top politicians, academics, civil rights activists, and market women. Uwais restated his confidence that Nigeria will be good for it if the ERC report is implemented. He recalled how the ERC walked the length and breadth of the country gathering diverse views, and consulted foreign experts on electoral reform, but lamented that most of its recommendations were rejected in different phases. His words: “The President forwarded, in April 2009, seven Bills to the (NASS) for the purpose of implementing the ERC report. Of these, the National Assembly, in its wisdom, after rejecting two Bills, (an amendment of the Police Act and creation of the Electoral Offences Commission) decided to consider so far only the Bills for the amendment of the 1999 Constitution and the 2006 Act. “In the course of debating the bills, the (NASS), in addition, exercised its prerogative to modify and mutilate some key recommendations of the ERC, thus, radically changing the import and complexion of the recommendations.” Uwais said such resistance to change is not peculiar to Nigeria, because ruling parties often feel threatened by decisions capable of undercutting their chances at the poll. But he warned that the rejection of ERC report has eclipsed Nigeria’s attempt to reform the system. “It is clear that politicians, in any given country, will usually be reluctant to modify the existing electoral system because there tends to be significant transitional cost that accompanies the move from one system to another. “Of critical concern to them is the possibility that changing the system may result in their losing upcoming elections or losing their electoral dominance. "It appears the goal of political parties is to win elections and exercise political power, and therefore, if reforms threaten their hold on power, then, it can be presumed that they will be reluctant to support them. “In the case of Nigeria, it seems that the late Yar’Adua acted unilaterally when he announced his commitment to reform our electoral system. The political parties and his own PDP in particular were passive and have not been known to lobby or publicly direct their members in the (NASS) or state legislatures to support the electoral reform.” http://www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=24700 |
It is all "legislative rascality and paliamentary gambadoism!" ![]() |
violent:I think they are outnumbered right now. However, it is clearly a long range FG effort to tackle the NASS, so the real fireworks will likely come well into next year; I suspect from mid to late in the second half. |
violent:Dude, all govt accounts are audited, perhaps you don't know how these things work, even your manager at work has such a budget. Its pretty elementry really. "A sum of over 7 million naira" I see you are happy to go with the Sahara Reporters beer palour story, so no point bandying angles with you. Abeg, I'm going to chill jare, while you guys busy yourself with various rumour angles. This story is too ridiculous for my attention. |
violent:I hope egbon Aganga knows to carry the public with him, because govt cannot defeat the NASS alone. Its gonna be a very wild fight! klitschko vs Haye!!! Serious roforofo! |
^ We have only heard the figure of $50,000.00 from Sahara reporters. Have you heard Bakare mention such an amount? Even Bakare says they were offered transport fare, not given. So how did the $50,000.00 figure come about, if not malicious rumours? Secondly, what makes you think any money GEJ gives out is from his salary? In govt positions all over the World, there is a security vote that officials can use for hospitality. To close the argument, the $50,000.00 is from Sahara reporters. Lets be objective about a story that didn't add up from the outset, that where I stand. |
monkeyleg:Abi o! ![]() Its been very long since I spent good quality time in that town. |
^ No mind Obiagu jare! So te, we have forgoten about definiting of the Middle Belt! |
monkeyleg:Dude, pricing pepper requires only minimal intelligence na! Bluetooth no vex! We for block like say I de town. I no go de dat period, so maybe anoda time (no boxing gloves allowed ). |
^ People like you who are so desperate to smear others have no shame. What an immoral disgrace you are! You can engage in all sorts of gutter tactics from now until you meet your payment. Its fine, good will always defeat evil. See how shamelessly desperate you are! Poor sod! |
I'm wondering if some people are now getting so desperate that they think this thread is about more lies on any unrelated topic. Chei! The truth is like juju, when it comes out strange men go mad! ![]() violent:I think you are forgetting that GEJ invited them. They didn't come off their own accord, therefore you would expect some help with their welfare, such as transport and accommodation, feeding etc. |
Miracle! I de laugh oooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! ![]() Vultures were actually circling, looking for my flesh on the other thread. Omase o! |
Debosky!!!! I de laugh oooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! ![]() Damn! Unu go take laf kpai pesin for NL! What can one expect from paid up GEJ haters? We Were Not Offered Bribe - - - Rev.tunde Bakare |
^ Ol' boy, to you everything is a screwup, sometimes I wonder if you can even price pepper in the market. Nsiman:My guy, the story is as ridiculous as they come! Tunde Bakare is quiet as a mouse, perhaps it is for the reason that this issue might finish his carreer. It is best not to mix politics and religion, especially funny interpretations of religion. There are people who misinterprete their positions for intelligence and feel they can hoodwink everyone else. Its a shame on those creating this story, and the testimony is in their quietness. GEJ is a gentleman, otherwise all involved in the story would have had court summons by now, so they can go and tell their ridiculous story to a judge and see what he makes of it; defamation is a very high stakes game. If Tunde Bakare or his agents talk any further rubbish, then Jonathan should do the obvious and sue the living daylight out of them. |
debosky:I haven't even accepted your apology for telling lies and you're asking questions? Funny guy! You have already admitted that you lied, abi no be so? I don't discuss with liars, cos they "stand" is worth nothing. |
^ Oga, how is the AK? You don polish am for 2011? I don't know Niboro or Orubebe, ok? @topic I wonder why you folk are so exercised, while in the meantime we have heard nothing from Tunde Bakare? Spooky!!! |
Poor oyb, hallucinating over Beaf again! Why must every topic be about me as far as you're concerned? Are you in love? I no be homo and I no get ya time. I wonder what it feels like to think like a cockroach? oyb, please supply the answer, cos I have never ever seen you make a single logical argument in all my time on NL. Its just been one loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong story of being stalked by you. Its flattering but tiring, I'm sure if you had a picture of me, you would put it under your pillow at night like a fool. ![]() Abeg, turn your attention to babes (or better, to the topic), as far as I'm concerned you're as relevant as a microbe or bacteria. No hard feelings. ![]() I de laugh o! |
oyb:Whatever. Clean your arse before you talk in public. Saraki the thief is still your owner, lord and master. Tell us how much your soul and gene pool cost. |
Who even dreamt up this rubbish. How can someone of Iweala's stance in the World serve under a thief who is wanted in the US? Who is dreaming up this nonsense? Someone needs to catch that person so that we can pour petrol and find the right size of tyre. . . |
debosky:Stop telling lies to suit whatever position you hold. Its called dishonesty at best. I have only said the story is too ridiculous to be worth my time. |
^ Bribe my foot! Why on Earth would anybody bribe SNG? They are not a political party, they cannot tip the PDP primaries one way or the other. Bribe for what? And only N7.5million for a nation wide group. Abeg, make we hear word jare! |
^ These are my personal thoughts. Sahara Reporters claimed the SNG guys said it was meant to cover their transport and other costs; so in that light what is bad? We don't even know if the whole thing isn't made up for political gain. Where has it been heard that you can bribe national associations with a mere N7.5million? The whole story is damn ridiculous! |
blacksta:
he's busy looking for a perfect alibi.just wait for him,he will soon show up.
Funny people! You are taken in by folk who reject "bribes," but know the exact denominations, the exact number of bundles and of course, the exact amount. They even claimed to have driven off to their hotel with the said "bribe." Spooky! ![]() Imagine bribing SNG with a miserable N7.5 milla?! I de laugh o! |
^ Abeg, go and polish your AK in the bush, who do you think you are telling that rubbish. Are party primaries kids parties? Gbe nu e so un! Yoruba peeps, please forgive me if I no write am well ![]() |
mbulela:Shame on you for asking such a daft question, I would expect less vocal people to ask such, not a know all like you. You are always first to criticise even when you are Mr. ignorant! I don't even know where to begin replying you from in an issue that is so basic. Help yourself; Google keywords like, US Senate, Atiku, Potomac, Douglas, $40, 000, 000. |
silami:Sir, you lie or you need glasses! Mrs Atiku was the last vestige of the family left in the US. . . She bolted rather untidily from the place this year, because she is wanted. Mr Atiku himself is smart enough not to make foolish claims about visiting the US, cos such is easy to disprove. The fckers hurriedly sold their $1.7million Potomac house and bolted from the US, never to return. Guess why? Too many court summons! Summons ti po ju! ![]() They were even trailled to Abuja with summons! You know why? The morafucker is wanted for money laundering in the US, one of Uncle Sams most serious crimes since the 9/11 incident, part of their war on terror. Do you care to know how much Atiku laundered? Dude, it was 6 billion Naira. . . In 2008 alone! Damn! An amount so weighty to the jaw bones, that Atiku became the subject of the US Senate. Thats government that does fck around, they cough and Iraq burns. Do you still think Atiku can fly into JFK? |
Boboribo:I really pity you Obj worshippers. The man is a reluctant god to you people, I guess you pray to him at night? ![]() Obj this, Obj that!
