Reading through so many posts here, it is obvious that a lot of people are either ignorant of the ND and oil or just hate ND people. Personally, I hope to believe it is just ignorance. That building has nothing to do with oil issues. When ND is dicussed by the UN, NGO's and in diplomatic circles, state govts are not mentioned. They have no say. Anyone who is in the grey about oil issues can begin here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_Oil_Crisis |

Gators hows things? |
Ethnicity is not our biggest issue. The problem is our federal structure. We run a federal system like the US, but has anybody ever heard of governors and bleeped up state delegations going to visit Obama? It would be ridiculous and laughable. Each governor runs his own show. However in Nigeria, rubbish is the order of the day; governors who don't behave have in the past had to beg for their monthly, the FG is concerned with the number of LG's in each state (it determines their monthly gift) so that states don't mount any challenge to the system, no matter how remote. It isn't a federal government, it is a pyramid. The strength of the "tribal" system in Nigeria is its lack of accountability. Your local govt chief is accountable is more accountable to the state that does not have much clout in the markets, offices, homes and general local environment. The state in turn is accountable to Abuja which has no understanding of state problems. Abuja controls the purse strings and knocks our heads together. |
Gators, keep looking sweet. I'm off to get a couple of hours sleep. |

ezeagu:No need for becomerich. You never hear of caliphate? |
@The Amaka. You are way too unexposed to know anything about Nigeria. |
Onlytruth:Maybe the term "game" wasn't exactly in good taste. We are saying the same thing in different ways. While you are expressing experience and effects, I have spoken of the reason why the perpetrators want things exactly the way they are. Like I said, you would find that those at the top of the pyramid are the most detribalised, but they realise the power of "tribe". We tend to express anger at the North, but in reality, it is a small clique of Fulani (so it is even wrong to generalise it to all Fulani). We are all trapped by it, but to win, we must find ways to both see beyond and surmount it; otherwise we end up fighting the war for our oppressors. The way to win is by forming positive inter ethnic alliances to form a voice strong enough to isolate and defeat those who hold us to ransom. Ethnic groups don't even need to agree at street level; where the leaders go, the street will follow. There are many more "Jakande's", "Fashola's" and "Wole Shoyinka's", draw your red lines and seek them out. For the Yoruba's; the same goes, learn about others. There is much more to gain from alliances with the Ngige's and Obi's. Again, the street is irrelevant. |
It is of military significance, so the navy can patrol the Niger through to Warri. . . Conversely MEND would have a shorter distance to Abuja. |
^Is "lady" a derogatory term, at least in the way you use it? |
