munas: Hmmm....
What kind of card for communications are you talking about? Cos i have a case in my house too... U cut them into squares and laminate it, put it on a pin and pin to whatever u wearing. So if the child is shouting, u just him the the no shouting picture, u can also verbalise it. It's not magic but Eventually he will start to associate that very sign with being quiet. Say he wants a cookie, u show him the cookie picture, soon he will start selecting wat he wants from all the pictures, also make sure he points to to wat he wants. Keep pointing to stuff, he will soon start to copy u. Then play is very important, not just with peers, but with mum or dad. Sit on the floor with toy, and let him lead, if he wants to throw balls join in. If he wants to zoom a car around the room join in but keep verbalising ball, yes ball . Car zooooommmm , no too much talk, one or two words, it's a slow process but wen it clicks progress picks up.

salford: I didnt say there are no jobs over here. Just letting you know the jobs are also not easy to come by. Even the so called survival jobs would still not be handed to you on a platter of gold e.g cleaning or hotel bed laying jobs. Employers would ask you for years of experience in cleaning/operation of buffing machine or bed laying.
I stayed cos i was determined. Alot of Nigerians arrived Canada/UK around the same time i arrived, and returned home cos they couldnt bear the hardship/difficulty... You are suprised..yes, lots of nigerians and other foreign nationals return to their home countries every year when they realised abroad is not eldorado and they were better off at home......
I Suffered for some years and eventually broke even. I am glad that i slugged it out...I stayed back cos of my kids...atleast my children would have excellent education, good healthcare, good stndard of living e.t.c they would not have had access to in Nigeria. They would also find it much easier than i did when i moved here. Lol, talking of those who ran back to naija, my brother in law got a Visa to Ireland thru a church program, after the program he and a few other pple ran away and decided not to go back to Nigeria. They started staying with a relative of one of the guys. The relative secured menial jobs for them. My brother in law went one day and decided the struggle was not for him, so he got on a plane and came back home, the wife nearly died. He is an assistant pastor and counsellor for his churn, that's all he does, all his responsibilities falls on his wife who is always begging Frds and relative for kids school fees and house rent. She is a private school teacher, her younger sister who leaves in Europe is a main helper. She doesn't work but will send money monthly fro The benefits the government gives her for her kids upkeep. While the man goes about town complaining of how he helped his friends dat are still in Dublin and how they have totally forgotten him. |

And who told you jobs are in abundance overseas...lol My friend with a msc in proj management from a UK uni applied to Mcdonald 7 times, yet he was rejected..despite that i helped pushed good reference on his behalf as i worked there at that time... This was after he could not get jobs in his profession. He eventually returned to Nigeria where he now works in an NGO.
In Canada, i have met graduates from Canadian Uni working in walmart as cashiers/stockers. Some cant even get jobs at all and are trapped with student loan debts running into thousanda of dollars. I dont think you know how hard and low paying McD and walmart jobs are. Do you? I worked mcd in Uk, got my palm burnt by bread toaster on my occasions, walmart job when i came to Canada and broke my wrist lifting huge boxes and spent months visiting physios, labour job where i hit my thumb with a sledge hammer despite all my degrees from naija and the UK...Dont let me even get started with the ex pwc, mtns, nlng, doctors, accountants e.t.c that i know working shit jobs in Canada.. yet someone like you would get angry at me if i was your uncle and didnt send you money or help like in your thread...lol.
U can come abroad ooo..no one is gonna discourage you...but its also good to prepare your mind that the first 3-7 years would be tough "if you came in legally" so you need to have your mind prepared. If you come in illegally, that is even worse..Imo, it's good to let people know what they are getting into.... AreaFada2: Bebe2,
To be honest it is not fashionable to be honest when dealing with our fellow Nigerians, especially if you live abroad. They start calling you enemy of progress.
I have actively discouraged Nigerians from coming to the West ANYHOW.
We know what we suffered back then. A close friend froze to death on the street, sleeping rough. It could have been me. Once money was exhausted, we had no place to sleep. His miserable death haunts me till today.
But when you tell people, they say "but you have made it now, you very fine now, it cannot be as bad as 9ja na, etc." I don't even know what "made it" mean in their imagination.
I always advice people to come as postgrad students, with enough money in their pockets. That way, even if they have to return home, the time wasn't wasted.
I have discouraged many social media "friends" from crossing Sahara desert with the help of a "sponsor" to Italy. Those who did not listen are paying off 30 to 50K Euros now doing prostitution. Some have been honest enough to say "I wish I listened to your advice".
Nobody is afraid of anyone. Many abroad just do not want others to make the mistake they made, either by abandoning their studies, travelling with anyhow documents, coming with tourist visa and overstaying, quitting a good job to travel abroad, etc.
An example: a cousin of mine worked for about 11 years in a first generation bank. He quit and came abroad. I just bumped into him one day. He jumped and hugged me. I did not recognise him right away, being tall & big guy now. He died here in diaspora a couple of years ago. He regretted his decision to travel abroad, despite having a wife and kids here.
A friend also quit a first generation bank job to travel. Me regretted it daily. He died of cancer here around 5 years back, leaving 4 kids behind.
Both lived abroad in regret, after quitting well paid in 9ja. Those of us who left as teenagers took it more our stride, after the difficult first few years.
People should be wee informed before travelling. Not just anyhow, to any destination believing you can make huge money anywhere abroad.
We have ruined our name enough abroad: scam/faud, drug trafficking, prostitution, etc. Mostly due to unplanned travelling out. I see ur point So sorry about ur relatives that died, so sad. |

Pidgin2: You can only tell someone who hasn't travelled out before that there are no beggars abroad, as for me, I saw poor beggars with their children begging for food to eat.
Why are you not feeling for the thousands of beggars and drug addiction abroad? I understand your empathy but even where you live, beggars and lonely old people who can't afford heating are everywhere there
So because of one picture, everyone in Nigeria is now an animal abi? Am not replying because of u but for others who will read this. U have no advantage over me on experience both outside and inside Nigeria. I left naija wen I was 24, and have been coming back to naija twice a year. I see wats on ground. To be able to heal, u need to first admit u are ill. |

Pidgin2: Are there no charity homes in the UK and is everyone able to pay their medical bills there, then who are those people who beg for coins while sitting on cartons in freezing cold weather and those who search people's dustbins for anything they can take over there?
If your relatives are in the above situation here, you can actually help them without ranting about it consistently on social media. You can register for their medical insurance per year at N30K, if you can help one person close to you it is something. Let me handle ur first paragraph, some of those pple have mental issues and substance abuse. There are hostels located around city centres for them to sleep, in cold weathers the staffs will take a mini bus to the streets and beg those pple to come to the hostel and sleep. But because they are not a danger to others , the government can't bundle them to a psychiatric unit. 2nd paragraph, none of my relatives are in that condition I described. But thousands of pple are, and I feel for them not because I know them but they are humans like u and I. There is a parable in my place that says, the chickens never look happy wen birds are being roasted. But it's different now, on this same forum yesterday, there was a picture of a baby lying on the ground, some thot he/she was sleeping others thot dead, there were over 50 pple there, nothing was done by any one of them they just took pictures and made videos. That doesn't even happen in the animal kingdom. Watch animal planet and u will understand. Pls tell me again about Nigeria |

queendoreez: bebe2, bless your heart for this post.
I know a lot of people who discourage people from moving abroad. Recently i had a chat with 1 of my friends, he's in Singapore, and i discussed with him about migrating abroad, and he was like "You can't make it abroad", "taxes are killing us here", "bills are too much here" etceteras. But the next minute, he's like "I have just built a student hostel off campus in FUTO", "I just wired 300k to my mum last week", "I wire 200k to my girlfriend in Nigeria every week for her make-up" etceteras.
Well, i have made up my mind to migrate out of this "hell" called Nigeria. I have filed in my papers, waiting for my permits. And the last thing that will happen to me is to get discouraged by any Nigerian in diaspora.
Nigerians in diaspora, make una fear God!!! U see life? But he get money take pay the taxes and bills abi? U know one person on this forum once said, America is difficult, some pple have two or three jobs just to survive And so flaming what? Pple in naija are looking for half job. Diasporans make una fear God ooo |

Ask Syrians and afghans how they get to Europe, There is war and famine in Nigeria. I only said don't discourage pple by exaggerating, It's all over this forum. Someone said he married a German citizen and was asking for ways to process his papers out of the country, go and see the comments he got. Dat was the trigger behind this post. |

Pidgin2: Do you know me, how can you say you live in Nigeria more than me?
I recently welcomed someone from the UK (a relative) who came around after over five years since he came last and he was so impressed with Naija, taking pictures every minute and sending to people there.
What he marveled at was the change in landscape and the fast pace of developmental projects in Lagos, he did things like paid visits to tourist centers which we've always had but I never took the time to see, and he is making plans to relocate already so what do you think you are talking about? Jesu U just proved my point. Next time he comes tell him to look for a charity/foundation and help out for a couple of hours, or go to a hospital and pay for one persons bill dat is being held for none payment, or go to a govt primary school and buy uniforms for ten kids with the worst uniforms, should I continue?? justwise: @bebe2 you live here in the UK right?
This is what i want you to do..start a thread in this section and invite any Nigerian interested in moving to the UK to live and work then guild them on how to do it LEGITIMATELY
I promise to moderate that thread so that it will not be derailed.
These are the conditions:
1. It shouldn't be used to encourage people to circumvent immigration rules
2. No dropping of contact details or 'pm me for further details'.
3. No agency discussion.
Deal? Disclaimer: am not an agent, neither do I know of how to get pple to western countries LEGITIMATELY nor ILLEGITIMATELY But my opinion is , if u find the current state of Nigeria unbearable, and u want to leave the country pls do so by any means u can. I do not advise going to Europe by land, only because the route is saturated, there are too many pple using and it's unsafe. |

salford: I dont discourage people to migrate especially if they are under some dire situation. If you have a good job plus career in naija, can afford good hospitals, live well, afford holidays overseas e.t.c then they might want to consider d "abroad" option well. The "abroad" could be a career suicide at times. Obviously dat will be stupid. But am talking the average Nigerian dat no hope and no connection, whose mum sells akamu and dad stands on the road waiting for day labour, they live in a single room with 5 other kids? |

Those who want to migrate can do so legitimately and anyone seeking to stay shouldn't be made to feel like he or she is living in hell because it isn't true. Badgers14: My sister abeg calm down. I am happy for you that you Live Abroad and wish well for our folks back home.
BUT, I wouldn't want to count myself in as one of those that discourages potential travellers. I just tell them the truth and again, the truth hurts.
Most of the people that fire all those questions to "abroadians" want to run away from Nigeria and go and "hussle". Many don't mind walking or hiding in a cargo plane.
My dear, reason this, how many of those potential travellers have their green card or blue card handy?
I myself didn't immigrate in a cunny cunny way and am not sure how the people that came thru that way survive the ordeal, no one will never ever tell you the true story.
So Crucify me if i am wrong my dear, but i do tell them "pomp and plain" . Travelling outside Nigeria is not too difficult, Surviving outside Nigeria is.
If someone have the right document, they dont usually bother anyone but the ones that wants to fly out by all means could blow off your whatsapp.
While i understand there plights in Nigeria, I have also seen with my "2 naked eyes" the plights illegal immigrants go through in the U.S and my sister, i am not sure which one is safer. Again with Trump and his unknown never straightforward agenda , his administration is even deporting people protected by DACA.
Lastly, I do not discourage them, but i tell them truth. If they still want to come, bless their heart but I don't know how i can help them if they dont have the right documents.
Cheers! I totally understand u, But I do think for some pple traveling could be the only way out. Now , I don't live in the USA so I can't tell wat illegals go through but in the uk they can get a job not legally though, and the smart ones will work 80 hrs a week quickly buy a small plot , build a one goat for their family back home . And u know once accommodation is settled , life is much easier anywhere in the world. Getting in illegally does not mean one will never be legal. Once u are in u start to walk the ropes to settlement like millions of illegals before u. |

If it's dat terrible why are u still there?
You enjoy the benefits of living in an organised society, knowing fully well that naija is a difficult place to live.
Are u scared of the competition the new immigrants will bring?
