Do you know if you want to be rugged, you could talk to the police and they will drag him out of there. Because he is not your tenant, he doesn't have tenancy agreement.

I wouldn't even reason legal option here because the case is likely to be thrown out it you are going for notice to quit ( at least in a civilized world). The better route would be criminal possession of your property.

For people reading this, if you are planning on sharing flat, make sure your name is included in the tenancy agreement.

I have thot of dat ooo, but I think the lawyer want to create work. This guy is a squatter, he has no tenancy agreement.

Pls I need to advice from experienced house owners or legal minds .

We just purchased a property that has 4flats, three of the tenants moved out leaving one who has refused to move.

On further investigation we realised he wasn't the original tenant, he was squatting with the original tenant who moved out of the country .

We have explained to him but has refused saying he want to renew the tenancy and be paying rent.

He has gone to get a letter from lagos state mediation centre . Which has forced us to get lawyer to start legal proceedings.

Considering he is subletting, and was not the original tenant should we going thru the court?

Bottom line is how do we get this tenant out?

I am not surprised, a state that has the major airport station in the country, a state where major multinational companies are house, an oil producing state, a state which is overpopulated and the gov't decided decided to use tax as a means of generating revenues, a state where almost everything has a value added cost on goods and service.
