samuelson06: I wonder the magic you want to do in Nigeria if it's not all about learning a skill. You didn't ask about the type of skill but condemning it totally. Well, it's about learning a skill and then ask for God's grace.
God's grace can never work without your own effort. What work does for you is to help you bring God's attention to your endeavor because God himself says no food for lazy man. So if you work hard and you can't still pull through, it's either what you are doing isn't what can take you there or you are not sincere with the struggle.
Don't ever write off learning a skill, especially with the battered naira else people like me would have relocated to the village years ago.
I still stand by my words that npower is common and nobody should be so happy and fulfilled about it. Some days, I make more than that 30k in a day and other times 20k on average per day. How? Skill + God's grace. So whoever is waiting for the government or some company to employ them for peanut is free to do so.
If you're making so much, what are you doing on Npower thread.
Acidosis: The question you should be asking is who is a business analyst? The man who studied business analysis or the one who studied business analytics? Ignore the professional jargon and focus on the rudiments of the programme. I can hire anybody and call it whatever.
I'm not mixing business analysis with business administration by the way. But to set the record straight, to work in the business analysis field, you do not need a degree in computer science. That's where business analytics come in. The analytics is about the application of tools, data, programming language. The analysis is self-explanatory.
I don't think we should be debating this.
Okay. In essence you can hire anyone and call him a data scientist while he's doing data entry work.
tutudesz: Meaning a project manager can also be employed in place of a business analyst Like I said must companies want someone that can take on multiple roles, instead of employing more workers
If you're a business analyst, you can Transition into PM.
PM doing BA works needs to know BA processes, and it seems like a downgrade to me.
elbulk: Its a great area to focus on. However you will rather do a certification like the CBAP which is the standard certification and do an MBA instead
New people should go for ECBA 0-1 year experience.
CBAP is for professional with more than 5yrs experience
elbulk: Most business analysts work in the tech space and you can have any background. Just have the right training
"Any background"? Well this might be true in some cases where the individual have years of experience as a BA, but lacking foundational background knowledge in IT/computer science will still be an impediment. However, if the person is coming into the field new, it will be a hard but to crack, as BA=experience.
The best is to transition from IT into BA field, that might not have much contraint.
Buccalcavity2: Business Analysis is a good course to study. It's in very high demand if you step into the west( You can also get remote work and earn dollars while in naija). You don't really need to be an accountant/finance specialist to be a good business analyst. Plus it doesn't require so much technical skills like data science or data analytics and can fetch you their salary or more in some cases. Go for it! Although I'm not a fan of school anymore. I prefer hands on learning and mentoring.
It's a cross functional skills... And it depends on the company, you might be required to know data analytics or data science work. In fact, some might even ask you to do the work.
BA is a very demanding job, and continuously learning across all fields.
Someone who's not ready to learn continuously across different distinct field should not go into it.
Acidosis: I didn't necessarily conclude that business administration is the same as business analysis. But after a degree in business administration (MBA), would you proceed to study business analysis knowing very well that you're going there to study/use almost the same concepts - PESTEL, SWOT, Porter's 5 Forces, Etc?
Pestel or whatever you mention are just basics, and it shows you don't understand what you're dabbling into. Seems you're mixing business analysis with business administration. For me to straighten the road for you; the least qualifications for a business analyst is Bsc in computer science, not any form of business administration.
Nigeria HR have distorted everything! Most MNCs in Nigeria and anywhere in the World require you to have a degree in computer science for you to be considered.
Business analyst is just a gateway between technology and business. Not necessarily what you're insinuating.
Business analyst that undergo an MBA program may be trying to move into the business field/managerial role fully and jettison the tag business analyst.
If you want to understand what most role are and the qualifications required for it. You've to look beyond the job description being peddled around in the Nigeria job market, because most HR are not well trained to understand the differences in those roles.
This should not even be a subject of discuss if you're working with an MNCs or Tech company because you will understand better.

tutudesz: How many business analyst vacancies have you seen A business manager is expected to undertake the business development role, business analyst role and other role in that department to save cost. Even the president and governor's are suppose to have special advisers on business analyst
What you assert here is why business and projects fail. Seems your experience is only limited to Nigeria business landscape where they can merge 10 Distinct specialization as one.
Acidosis: @OP, define business analysis. I think a Bachelor's in Business Analysis is just a rebranded Business Administration programme. A "low-budget" yet more trendy MBA programme.
With tech experience/knowledge, I would recommend Business Analytics. Sound similar but completely different..
Nope. There's difference between business administration, business analysis and business analytics.
Christistruth00: T B Joshua that Sacrificed his own mother for evil Power , is it him you are defending? You better thank Jesus you were not around him on the day he needed to do Human Sacrifice
Once she quits the baby mama will come in, that's what the baby mama is waiting for.
Your sister should take a chill pill, the fact there's a baby between the husband and the baby mama, they cannot be separated, even if the baby start living with them, the husband will still occasionally see the baby mama, theres nothing your sister can do.
It will only end in regrets if she quits, when she starts seeing the baby mama living with her husband.
Then the end might not be good for her, she might take a drastic action, that will lead to serious regret.
She should calm down, stop dabbling into her husband and baby mama issue, so far the husband is still doing his responsibility, that way peace will reign.
Her husband will be happy and she will also be happy.
ADAMUdaCOWBOY: Whenever I read that nonsense online I just shake my head. I don't even want to share my experience as a northerners with a foreign certificate.
