Stay away from dot net, focus on dot com at the moment. I used to own alot of 4 letter dot nets 3 years back. Never had any luck selling them and hence won't recommend them. If you're new in the biz shift attention to geo names for now, when you make quick flips you can start investing heavily. But for now all you might need are names that brings quick returns, and that is in geo names niche. Wish you all the best

In the past 7 months I noticed a kind of ommision pattern trend on one word English domain.

Names that follow the omitted "E" pattern

Like

Flicker............................ Flickr.com

Better.............................. Bettr.com

Power...............................powr.com
And lot lot more

I started searching for these pattern with one other one for like 4 months now. I couldn't get any for reg fee so I quit searching .

Few days back I noticed

Powrful.com sold at SH take note of the "E" omission then I checked again and I saw Unbreakr.com listed on SH.. so it kind of rekindle my fire to search for that pattern once more.

Finally I tried Slaughter.............. And got slaughtr/com ( there is placed called Slaughter in PH and that was the prime idea before I tried it..

Sorry for the long epistle

I just want to hear from the veterans specially brandable @beckplanet @haykay and CO's

What are your take on these pattern, are they still in fashion and could be it sold as a brandable?

I have no idea of what to do with the name just parked at Bodis
Read your post again, you started with quality keyword names then deviated to regular dictionary words. They are two different thing.

At the bolded, omitted vowel names like Flickr, tumblr etc has been a thing for long now and the trend has been around for long, some call it dropping vowels from a brand name and might even an outdated trend by now because back in 2016 someone wrote and article on it, check here : https://money.howstuffworks.com/flickr-tumblr-scribd-why-dropping-vowels-brand-names-is-popular.htm

Like you correctly mentioned the best names are long taken and gone, any other trial and error stuff now might be on Weak keywords and might well be a hard time selling or total waste of money because firms in their right senses don't go for such word and those who do, would have a very strong reason to justify their choice.

Although you might be lucky to find some decent ones only in places like auctions or expired list. But will be hard.

I will never scam anyone, I will rather beg you for funds. Godaddy appraisal is also a good yardstick compared to other free appraisal softwares. But my point is that there is more to a name than just picking random available domain name that sounds nice.

I can get you a name that will sure sale if u take it serious. I am only monetizing my service.
Bro, Godaddy Appraisals is not reliable just like any other automated tool out there. They are all the same thing, running on some algorithm that has been programmed. If you are really conversant with Godaddy appraisal you'll easily observe that it prices 80% of the names you submit at $1k range even names that doesn't make sense. At some point big player domain investors at Godaddy's Marketplace voiced their discontent over the appraisal tool because it makes end-users price their names low and when they try to convince the end user on the value/quality of the name this end users references a price they got on Godaddy appraisal which more or less prices all names in the same range. Now my point is Appraisals are not reliable. I stopped using Appraisals 5 years ago and when i see a good name i can tell because of the knowledge i have, so i don't need to rely on any appraisal to tell me what my name is worth. I've sold countless names that appraisal valued at $0.smiley now the thing is if you really want to grow as a Domainer pursue the knowledge not reliance on appraisal bots.
Why i pointed this out is that information like this at times can be misleading.

On the second bolded, if you really have a working formula, why not teach it to the community so everyone can learn and benefit from it....

We are all here to learn and I believe that's why you're here too unless otherwise.

You can check an article written by Keith Deboer on dngeek some time ago, titled "why we hate to love the domain appraisal tools" hope it helps:

@beckplanet @Zord33k please help out
Write support and simply inform them that name is not up to 60 days yet, and politely suggest to them that buyer can create a porkbun account and you push (If buyer agrees with the suggestion they'll let you know).
I previously had a similar case, i simply did the above and buyer agreed. Sometimes afternic can even decide you send it to their account first before transferring to buyer. It all depends on if buyer agrees on the suggest. I had a case where buyer decided to wait till 60 days ran down.
So contacting support and explain to them they'll kelp.

Brandpa New Changes; Hit or Miss

Here are my thoughts....

Brandpa (A brandable marketplace) recently released an update which introduced a few Changes in its marketplace and how they intend to run it for the future.... And i decided to do a review and share my thoughts on what might be the impending outcome for domainers going forward.
On whether this change will be a hit or miss for the marketplace, likewise for domainers.

Here's the Released update :

We’re pleased to announce a somewhat ridiculous number of improvements to Brandpa today. Let’s break it down:

1.Instant domain appraisals
2.Set your own pricing
3.All-new listing process
4.Update listed domains
5.Keyword analytics
6.New shopping experience for buyers
7.Remove listed domains yourselves
8.New sellers and new pricing
9.The future of Brandpa

They further went to break this headings down to give a clear explanation on what each entail. Now here what i think might be the pros and cons...

Let's start with

Why Brandpa New Changes might not be a good idea

UNRELIABLE AUTOMATED APPRAISAL SYSTEM (BrandBot)

The BrandBot is just like any other appraisal bot out there, limited by algorithm and some kind of analytic program to appraise some certain keyword names based on a pre installed sales record or pattern..
This means it can appraise epik dot com for $8k and appraise some Ejejejeejehnd dot com for $100k grin (simply put, appraising some good names for less and on the other hand appraise some bad names for more because of past record sales, it has been programmed to work with.)

MARKETPLACE WILL BE FLOODED WITHIN A SHORT SPACE

The marketplace will soon be flooded with variety of names that might not even be brandables just like Godaddy/Sedo/Afternic where you can find any type of name. The slight difference will be logo and hefty price tags. Sometimes it is good to have a BB or SH that'll reject your names to keep you in check and on track.

MORE BAD NAMES TO THE MARKETPLACE

Most domainers can't be trusted to list whatever they want(Anybody can now list anything), a good example is when you visit the "HandReg of the Day" thread on namepros. You'll observe it is clear that most domainers don't know what they are registering or Visit Expireddomains dot net and review the names dropping daily you'll ask yourself if people actually register some of those names dropping, reason is because some register clear thrash (names that has little chance of selling) or names that appeal only to their emotions instead of real business names that can be flipped quickly. Most times this Will result to them giving you a thousand and one reason why their domain name is good enough and must sale. But the truth is good names needs no announcement they sale themselves. Now if the marketplace becomes saturated with more bad names, this will lead to the good names being hidden at the bottom pages and most times you see the bad names more often when you visit the marketplace.

IT KILLS THE RESELLER OPTION FOR DOMAINERS

The brandable names reseller market has been a thing amongst domainers over the past few years since the brandable niche boom. As you see Brandbucket/Brandpa/Squadhelp Accepted or Published names selling for reseller prices($20-$45) in namepros and other marketplaces. Reason is because once a name is approved in these marketplaces it kinda gives the name an added reseller value. But now in the case of Brandpa no one will be willing again to pay. Reseller prices for brandpa accepted or published names because the option to publish is now without restriction. So anyone can type in a clueless name and put a $10k price tag on it. This will cause unwillingness for Brandable Name investors to pay reseller prices for these domains.

DOMAINERS WILL LOSE MONEY AND A WIN-WIN FOR THE MARKETPLACE

Brandpa used to be strict on what they approve and list in their marketplace but with the new policy not anymore. That means the flood gates had been opened to list without restriction once you have either $8 listing fee for new members or $5 for older members. That's means that the biggest winners will be the marketplace themselves while the biggest spenders will be domainers, although few might still make money. But alot of domainers will lose money especially when you list your names and wait for a year without nothing to show for it.

POOR BRANDING or ADVERTISING STRATEGY

While I like brandpa for what they represent in the brandable market front and trying to rival Brandbucket on their early emergence, little efforts has been put in their branding and advertising strategy. A more reason why i feel the more recent squadhelp marketplace has overtaken them to become a direct rival to brandbucket in the brandable domainance supremacy. If brandpa can improve in just this one area. Maybe they can become the real deal in terms of selling your brand names.
Ever wondered why some weird names are always popping up as sold on Squadhelp? The reason is because they invest heavily on advertising their marketplace and this keeps them in the top of their game. And with a powerful advertising strategy you can sale your customers pretty much anything.

Reasons Why You Might Want To Give The New Policy a Chance

MIGHT BRING SOME GOOD INVENTORIES TO THE MARKETPLACE

Although it has its down side to allow everyone list everything and anything, the irony is that it has its good side too. It has been a thing over the years that most brandable marketplaces are guilty of rejecting good names and accepting some less quality names which most times they consider as good fit for their target audience.
Now that brandpa has come up with a policy to let seller's list their choice names this might see some good names which were previously turned down by other marketplaces being listed in brandpa and in turn will bring in some much traffic along with them. This means more potential end users flooding the marketplace.

PLAYING THE NUMBERS GAME

Domaining is a numbers game is a phrase we have all gotten used to.... Now this strategy is not recommended for any newbie who is still looking to find his/her feet.
Assuming you have deep pockets and willing to give the new policy a try, this is what you might do : you can try and list 20 good brandable names for $160 total list fee + price of domains. Then give it a 12 months experiment trial period to see what happens. If you sale one of names for say $1995, then you have more than recouped the (cost) expense made. Afterwards you can build from there. (Personally I might give this a trial myself and run the experiment and see how it goes) but like i said i don't recommend this newbies or anyone who is in need of a sale.

BRANDPA STILL A CURATED MARKETPLACE

One thing about brandable curated marketplaces is that they are neatly designed and have respected pricing model with start ups as the target audience. And Brandpa ticks all the boxes. Hence if you know what you are doing you can maximize the opportunity that such marketplace offers to your own advantage. Simply by listing names better than what they have their available. This means you names would always be ranked at the top as one of the best in its category. Thereby drawing more audience eyes which might lead to a sale.

GOOD LOGO'S

Well brandpa has one of the best logo designs in the business. This means with better logo your names gets more attention and probably can lead to a sale.

SMALLER MARKETPLACE COMPARED TO OTHERS

Again brandpa is the smaller marketplace compared to Brandbucket and Squadhelp. With a market size of around 12,000 names, still represents the smallest marketplace in the brandable business with Brandbucket size at around 75,000 names and squadhelp at around 40,000. Hence brandpa ain't saturated yet and has more chances to make a name visible because of its small sample size.

LESSER COMMISSION

Brandpa charges the least commission amongst the 3 leading brandable marketplace. While Brandbucket charges a whopping 30% commission plus logo fees and squadhelp charges between (30% - 35% commission) brandpa charge just 25% commission when you sale a name with them. The lowest in business.

This short article is not aimed to swerve you into whether to list at Brandpa or not. It is rather targeted to give you insight on what the new changes in the marketplace entails and this will in turn guide you on your decision makings going forward. I hope it helps.

Congratulations to amazymayo and some other recent sellers. Its been long i checked here, so i might not be able to answer some of those questions where i was quoted. Sorry, some offline jobs taking my time. I can see Beckyplanet answered some of them though.

I want to quickly address something, so Nigerians wont waste the little money they suffered to get. hunger is currently our Coronavirus, we should be careful.

All the newbies, especially those that just got approved approved at Brandpa should stay away until they master what sells in the brandable niche. This takes time and years to master. I repeat, years of experience. Me sef still dey learn.
Dont go and start listing with extra $5 to $8 because they accept all names. You will be frustrated out and they :Dhave taken their own money.

For now, stay with brandbucket or sh that solve part of your problem by rejecting some of your bad names till you learn what works.

Only experienced domainers will benefit from the new brandpa system, if that works at all. The are currently a grandma until further notice

A word is enough for the wise. Don't waste your money.
Ire ooo
Thanks bro for tuning in.... Me i stopped listing at Brandpa since last year(mentioned it in one of my post back then) coz their acceptance of what i feel is brandable names is very weak.... Brandbucket remains the big player in the game and though brandpa used to be a direct competitor not anymore coz there is very low sales through rate over there in my opinion.... And now they accept pretty much everything, it becomes even more creepy because you won't know what sales and what not as there is no Guage anymore there, and i see it no different from using Squadhelp Basic premium where i list whatever i like and set my prices, i mean what's the point listing for $8/$5 when i can list elsewhere for free. I hope it works for some but for me it is a no no... I hope some newbies listen and understand sha. Good luck to Everyone. smiley

Good morning. About the to-be-paid 5$, what is used for? Is it for the domain registration or it's just the regular charges for being approved on Brandpa. Meaning will I have to spend another dollars registering the name after the 5$?
$5 is brandpa listing fee(for old members) $8 for new members, yes in your term regular charge .

Should I submit my names to BrandBucket first and if rejected I should try Brandpa or submit to BrandPa first and if rejected I try BrandBucket?
Cc Beckplanet, Haykay2005, 2sexycom, Branduche, Farouksenior,
I don't understand what you mean by better. Both marketplaces have their different taste for Brandables (what Brandbucket rejects might be accepted by brandpa and vice versa) although Brandbucket is the more experienced and the larger market but at Brandbucket you pay $1 to submit a name and you wait for 35 days to get it reviewed. At Brandpa submission is free, takes between 8-12 days and has limits and you pay $5 if the name is approved and u wish to list .

check the date of that thread... it is 2015. As at 2018 or 2019, there was a new rule by GODADDY. So if any domain name gets renewed while at auction, Godaddy is not the registrar but their partners because the new rule by Godaddy is for only domain names which Godaddy serves as the registrar.

That domain does not belong to Godaddy but its partners in expiry auctions. Godaddy expired domains can't be renewed once it hit auction. It must go through.

So it happens because the domain name is either namecheap or name.com or network solutions or dynadot.

I'm beginning to think this Godaddy's auctions are rigged or something is seriously wrong. I won an expiring auction last week, paid in full and was supposed to hit my account today.. Only for Godaddy to send me a mail this morning that the transfer has been cancelled..
Called them only to tell me the domain can't be transferred bla bla bla n I'll get a refund.. Gosh I'm so sad right cos I had to compete with someone who made a proxy bid up to low $Bleep and even had to borrow to complete payment when I won.. The said domain is reg with Tucows (owned by godaddy) and currently on pending transfer..

A domain I would have held on to and planned to sell at least $5k.. BTW, this ain't the first time it's happened.. O dun mi gann

Who's experienced this before?

Beckplanet iykepromotions haykay2005
Yes it happens all the time, Godaddy usually gives their members/domain owners chances or grace to renew their expired names even after its expired many days (Its called grace period or something) within this time frame the name goes to auction but even if the name receives some bids and auction ends with a winner. The original owner can change his mind and renew name paying renewal fees + additional charges and hence initial auction held is canceled and winner is refunded asap. Reason is because owner still in control of name via Godaddy covering/policy. You can read this up on namepros for better clarity.

Yeah bro, but i don't think that's what he actually meant. What he was trying to say in context is simply the hardwork/story and rigor behind a domain sale that which in most cases is not regularly given enough mention. How do you guys see it ideaspro richkal iykepromotions elonmosque beckplanet
Lol, bro this is one reason i fear reporting sales on nairaland to avoid people from wasting money on names like this one. Hempbiscuit is 2 words that's why i even registered it and i did register it when hostpapa was doing a $1 promo. And guess what i priced it at $75 because i didn't see much value there, and again it is an exact product name, some kind of names which sales only when they've gained enough popularity overtime(maybe it will in the future but currently no big progress in hemp edible products names like biscuit. I guess it was bought back at epik bargain marketplace by a fellow domainer cause i see it currently listed at Dan at the moment. (Goodluck to new owner though). Now my point is you don't just register a name because another similar name sold but if you must, then do your research well to ensure there are stand by end users before registering any name if not you'll end up losing money and getting frustrated, not saying your name can't sale but getting inspired by a sale and regging a name in that regard is not the way forward, unless you know what you're doing. And you said you're a newbie, you should be reading up by now not regging.... Regging is the last thing on the table for a newbie. And my advice to all newbies out there, it's better to start with geo names niche than to start with brandables niche, cause geo will give you quick returns and keep you motivated. Brandable names can take a lot of time to sell which in my opinion is not an option for newbies, it is meant for those with deep pockets, who really knows what they are doing. But geo names easily brings the desired returns and converts quickly. I know a friend who've sold at least 4 geo names in the past week while I'm still struggling to make a single sake within the same space of time. I repeat brandable name niche is not ideal for newbies to start from go to basis and start with geo, then when you've made enough money and have some to spare you can think about it(because like I've said countless times here brandable names niche is a waiting game) . This is an advice to all who wish to listen.

Boss what are the criteria/Statistics you check before buying the listed 3 names? E.g (Keyword search etc)
I follow my instincts once i see a name that sounds right. It must be really short, Dictionary words, and make sense(If 2 words), must not be obscure, ambiguous, hard to pronounce, unrelated combination, too long (less than or equal to 12 letters) etc . I've explained all that before in my guide on this thread, i guess you haven't read that yet.

@beckplanet you said u pick most of your domains from ED, is it from drop or from other marketplaces. I will appreciate ur response. Thank you!
I pick names from the expired drops only bro. I've only used that options since I started Domaining never participated in a drop catch activity or auctions before but i feel that is where the more quality names are (Auctions and Dropcatch) and i strongly look forward to start participating in Auctions/Backorders in the near future maybe when i have enough money wink. But for now i manage to still find valuable names via expireddomains which remains the only option I've relied on from start (Although this can be very tedious, time demanding in exploring Expireddomains filter and requires some decent knowledge about Domaining trends) Evidently I've be able to pick up names like
FinBuck//com
LiteCurrency//com
BloomQueen//com (Now on Squadhelp)

In the last few days. Names which you can rate as Backorder Quality. But generally alot of research and hardwork is required from the domainers end.
