Travel › Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by beekind: 3:36pm On May 18, 2024 |
affoncad: That means, technically, if you are a Canadian citizen living abroad with your wife, she can apply for a visitor visa, stating that you plan to visit Canada together and then return, since you are not currently living in Canada. You should provide evidence of your marriage and that you live together, such as photos of your wedding with family and friends, evidence of your business, proof that she is enrol in a postgraduate program then explain why she is not applying for permanent residence (PR) now, and outline how you plan to fund the trip, such as for a honeymoon, birthday, or another reason, and then return together to your present location. Either way, the system will recognize her as the spouse of a Canadian citizen. However, nobody can say how fast the process will be since she is not applying for PR and a visitor visa together. Thank you for your input... |
Travel › Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by beekind: 2:37pm On May 18, 2024 |
affoncad: The current processing time for a visitor visa is now six months. If she applies via the visitor route, IRCC does not classify birthdays as emergencies. While her studentship is not an issue, the main concern is why she is not applying for spousal sponsorship, as IRCC has prioritized family reunification.
On May 26, 2023, IRCC announced new measures to strengthen family reunification, including faster temporary resident visa processing so that families can be together sooner while they wait for their permanent residence to be finalized. According to these measures, visitor visa applications will be processed within 30 days if you apply for permanent residence through spousal sponsorship.
This means that if you apply for permanent residence via spousal sponsorship, which typically has a processing time of about one year, and then apply for a visitor visa, the visitor visa application will be processed within 30 days. This approach can significantly expedite the process of reuniting with your spouse in Canada.
and no where it stated you need to be in canada to sponsor the PR for your wife
You can be a sponsor if:
1.You are 18 years of age or older; 2.A Canadian citizen, permanent resident living in Canada, or person registered under the Canadian Indian Act; 3.You live in Canada or are a Canadian citizen planning to return to the country; 4.You are not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability; 5.You can provide for your basic needs, those of your spouse or partner and, if applicable, those of dependent children. Thank you for your input, concerning the bolded, we are not applying for her PPR yet because we are both doing some things here that means we cannot afford to relocate to Canada permanently at this time. SHe is undergoing a postgraduate research while I am currently overseeing a business. We are both just interested in a 3 weeks visit to Canada at this moment to visit friends and sight see... So would you say that her being a student and her status as a future PR is sufficient for her visa or do you have any other suggestions ? Thank you for your time. |

Hi everyone, I need your suggestions and experienced advise based on the profie of me and my wife below. i am a Canadian citizen currently living in Nigeria for more than 1 year, I got married to my wife some months ago. My wife is a postgraduate student in one of the federal universities in Nigeria.
We know about the sponsorship process but we do not want sponsorship for now as I am currently still here in NIgeria attending to some personal issues.
My wifes birthday is coming up in a few months time and I am planning a month getaway to Canada for the 2 of us so basically whats the suggestion in how to go about applyiing for a visit visa for my wife.
I am worried that the stundentship will not be enough a proof that she has ties to NIgeria, on the flip side since she is eligible to apply for PR in the future, I am wondering if I add a note that we are aware that abusing the visitor visa if granted will affect her chances at PR in future so we wouldnt be abusing it.
i am her sponsor and have a balance of over 50,000cad in cash to show as proof of funds.
YOur advise is very much appreciated all. |

Kcenyimbk: Goodafternoon everyone. Please I’m in desperate need of help and ideas right now. I applied for spousal sponsorship in June 2023, My husband came back on April 2023,got married to me and travelled back to Canada…. We applied in May but our application was rejected due to some mistakes, then we reapplied in June… I’ve done biometrics,Medicals and all documentation… Was waiting for ppr, when I got an email… A procedural fairness letter…. First of all they asked me to prove my marriage the further,by adding more pictures and chats and documentation… That one is not an issue.. The main issue now is that they said I’m guilt for misrepresentation…… I never knew I made a mistake in the form…… To be honest,I filled the wrong box by mistake… In 2017,I was denied a us visiting visa… So they asked me to prove myself,if found guilty,I will be banned for 5 years…. Pls has any one gone through this Hi Poster, I am sorry you are going through this and understand the implication of this on your overall mental health. The bolded is the real issue, you did not disclose the US visiting visa... The life of the Oyinbos is very simple and you have already been told why you are being tried. They view your not declaring it as misrepresentation (withholding information) which you have said it's true. You have a choice to make, 1. Claim your visa was not rejected by the USA (wrong wrong move with grave consequences since the records are there). 2. Come clean, apologise and explain that this was an honest mistake that you did not have the intention of misleading/misrepresenting. That you were probably overwhelmed by the mountain of forms and documentation that you did not notice this part and probably were burnt out filling those forms when you got to that part of the application leading to a mistake. The you follow it up with lots of begging - then hope for the best... This option is a 50/50 chance depending on your visa officer, but it seems this is the best route according to my evaluation. Hiring a lawyer is just a waste of money, you hire a lawyer when you want to dispute something not when the accusation is true, do not waste your time and money. 5 years is a long time but it will come soon enough, that's if they decide to ban you, however, you have a higher chance of being forgiven and asked to reapply if you own up and provide a long explanation stating this was an honest oversight not an attempt to mislead... Also, can you consider requesting for the application to be withdrawn so you can make a fresh application because you discovered the error/mistake. in all, i wish you the best and hope and pray that things work out fine. Please keep us posted... We will be praying for you as wel. |

Mom007: Ask around for a shared apartment and move out ASAP. Reduce the amount of money you give her and channel that into paying your rent. Be determined to succeed in life and cling to God! Read your Bible for at least 30 minutes every day, first thing in the morning when you wake up. I mean every day and pray and cancel any negative words she may be speaking against you or else you will have a very hard life o! The words of a mother spoken against you have a life of their own But the blood of Jesus is able to save and cover you. I wish you all the best. The bolded is how you putting go about putting fear in people and enabling toxic parents to continue to maintain their hold on their children. Do you have any empirical proof that children whose parents are praying for do better than those who don't ? I mean with the way most parents pray for their children, you'd think everyone in Nigeria should be prosperous now yet most people live below the poverty line despite all the prayers of their mothers morning and night... It is hardwork and Gods grace that makes a man prosper, a mother is a human being and cannot determine the direction a mans destiny will take except the child allows her to. |

Jewessgratitud3: Hmm.. op you're wrong!!!! Very wrong.
Ask your brothers how they are getting along with her. You are stubborn and feel nobody can control you under person roof o. Abeg commot there, make you go test outside small and see. See how you painted your mother bad all through but you didn't even mention one single error you did. Saint Obi. Mtchew. This is the kind of ignorant comment I was talking about . Read Genesis 27 (excerpts below) and tell me what Esau did for his own mother to have connived with his younger brother to deny him of his birthright. There are evil people and an evil woman will not suddenly become a great mother... The fact others are putting up with her abuse does not mean the op should as well... Gen 27 5 Now Rebekah was listening as Isaac spoke to his son Esau. When Esau left for the open country to hunt game and bring it back, 6 Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Look, I overheard your father say to your brother Esau, 7 ‘Bring me some game and prepare me some tasty food to eat, so that I may give you my blessing in the presence of the Lord before I die.’ 8 Now, my son, listen carefully and do what I tell you: 9 Go out to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, so I can prepare some tasty food for your father, just the way he likes it. 10 Then take it to your father to eat, so that he may give you his blessing before he dies.”
11 Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, “But my brother Esau is a hairy man while I have smooth skin. 12 What if my father touches me? I would appear to be tricking him and would bring down a curse on myself rather than a blessing.”
13 His mother said to him, “My son, let the curse fall on me. Just do what I say; go and get them for me.” |

pretydiva: Have you had a one on one discussion with her? If you haven't pls do. Politely tell her how her behavior and attitude towards you has greatly affected you. Just pour your heart to her and make sure you leave no details
If after this no changes, then I will advice you go look for accommodation very far from her. As your sanity is very Paramount You don't seem to understand that these kind of people never change. infact, any attempt to have any conversation will result into more problem as she will manipulate the situation and turn in around into an abusefest. One thing we seem to not realise is that most Nigerians are abusers in one form or the other, it's just that most people do not abuse their famiiies but only abuse others. The police, army, civil servants, food sellers, politicians etc are all normal Nigerians who take their turns at every opportunity to abuse fellow citizens. We have a terrible culture of abuse that's so ingrained in our dna that it's impossible for many to even realise they are abusers, unlike doing it to others the op's mom is doing it to her own family, thats what makes it kinda different but most Nigerians are as terrible as the ops mom too. |
Family › Re: I Have A Very Toxic Mother, Please Advice Me by beekind: 5:27am On Apr 13, 2024 |
@op I can very much understand your situation, just like my own mom too, very abusive and toxic.
The funny thing is that those that did not experience this and have great mothers will soon appear to judge you and tell you that she is your mother so she is a saint and should be tolerated. I know how terrible maternal abuse can be, I have sufferred from it and still suffering from it. Like your mom too, mine is a "supposed" pastor. Almost wants to make Christianity look terrible, but there are great mothers who are CHristians too.
My advise to you is to focus on finding a good man, someone who will love you enough to make you forget all the abuse you have sufferred .
I wish you goodluck. |

There are videos of musicians and politicians spraying and mutilating money yet no one is picking them up. The danger of selective justice is lost on the average blackman, and for that reason many people will hail Bobriskys arrest just because they do not like him.
The real question here should be, why is no one picking up the other people especially known celebrities and politicians whoose videos abound on the internet of them spraying money ?
Why is it difficult for people to realise that selective justice is infact injustice and they may be victims of such in the future ? |

Mightyify: beekind what your wife has is PCO and PCOS. Unfortunately many doctors don't know the difference. I will encourage you to research on it yourself. Yes PCO is pretty easy to manage and chances of pregnancy is normal. Your wife will be placed on drugs that handle the follicles issues... you can also Google and get the medication yourself. Goodluck Hi, thank you for your insightful comment. Like I said, her cycle is pretty regular 29 - 31 days. Just that pelvic scan shows multiple follicles with "string of pearls" appearance which is said to be suggestive of pcos. But I now understand that it's possible to have multiple follicles in the ovary with the "string of pearls thing" and not have pcos. Especially if periods are regular and ovulation is also confirmed via progesterone. i'd like to reach you further on this if you don't mind. |

123readygo: Hmmmmmmm. The poster above me should stop spreading his ignorance. I married my wife a virgin and after 12 months of marriage without conception we went to the hospital and boom she had PCOS.
Luckily for us we commenced treatment immediately and after 3 years she became pregnant.
OP, it’s a tough journey but if you truly love her like you said do other tests and if you have the money do lap and dye to ascertain if her tubes are patent. More importantly, let her avoid taking of clomide and other related drugs for a long period because such drugs predisposes women to ovarian cancer. THanks for sharing your experience. Can I ask you something, was your wife regularly menstruating cos in the case of my fiance, she menstruates regularly and her cycle seems to be pretty consistent. Hormonal profile (progesterone) day 21 also confirms that she ovulates. |

onumadu: Oga doctor take am easy. Don't be mixing your emotions with professional opinions, because it can hurt people. This topic is something I have also researched deeply over many years, and the cause of it is something that a conservative country like Nigeria cannot even begin to mentally conceptualize. Meanwhile as a test, please how many "wayward" women do you know that have PCOS or (or even fibroid) problem? You people mix up blocked Fallopian tubes, uterus damage from abortions, failed Pap smear tests (which can be caused by HPV) - all resultants or products of being wayward, to reach this general conclusion. But PCOS? Haven't seen it yet. So let's not mix all of them, and blame it on a woman's "past lifestyle".
BTW @OP at what age did this woman start having sex, and how consistent has her sex life been? Answer to this question would determine whether I would advice you to marry her or run for your life. She's a virgin. |

adekhingz: No sir. Oath taking is at least a day or two before the main wedding. If you decide not to come for the oath taking, you may be delayed on the wedding day. You will get the mail as the person is working on it. The time you get the mail depends on when the person starts working on it. If he/she works on it on the day you pay, u will be notified via mail that same day(your email address as well as that of your spouse is part of what they will ask you to send). Thank you for your response. So it means, oath and wedding can be done same day, just that we may be delayed on the wedding day right ? |

adekhingz: Someone read through my previous Nairaland post and called the number listed on it. That was a data recharge advertising I created on behalf of someone. The individual just relayed the chat with me; he had no idea I posted on Nairaland, so he informed the Nairalander that the registry issue is a fraud. I am responding to this post to emphasize that it is not. Furthermore, I am merely sharing my experience, rather than recommending anyone to anyone. The only thing I'm saying is "IF YOU get a reliable contact in Ikoyi registry that Said you don't need to come to complete your wedding application, it is true". This is because I was also referred to someone there last year and I paid without going to Ikoyi until during my oath taking and wedding day.... I paid I think 40k as at August 2023. And I had my wedding on 16th or something like that. But the mail I received from the ministry of interior shows the fee is 28,500 (which is difference of 11,500). But you won't do have to bother about going to Ikoyi to stamp or do anything until the day Bros thank you for the update, can oath and wedding be done on the same day cos I am coming from outside of Lagos. Also after making the payment to the person, how soon did you get the email in your email box ? |

unitedCA: Like you rightly said, ss (spousal spon.) followed by vv (visitors visa) application. As you already know, both applications are treated separately as the applicant's intentions differ. We didn't do anything 'special' other than submitting the required documents. We kept the vv documentation light because most documents have already been submitted during the ss application. VV is not guaranteed for anyone, however, I would say you'd get to know the decision of the vv application within record time, (unless there are mitigating circumstances peculiar to your application) Thank you for your response. Well it does seem like unlike before Visitor Visa application after Spousal Sponsorship application process are now being given more positive response than before. I say this from just observing the trends so I may be wrong, I wish others could also weigh in and share there thoughts. Does applying for a visitor visa after aor (spousal sponsorship) have more positive outcome these days compared to in the past ? |

unitedCA: Hello All, silent observer here.
Spousal sponsorship application: I initially applied in March 2023 but wifey's application was returned as incomplete. So, I re-submitted May 2023.
Timeline: May 16- Application received August 17 - Request for Biometrics Nov 17 - Request for immigration medical exam Nov. 17 - eligibility completed Nov. 18 - Pre-arrival services letter Nov 30 - Medicals completed Feb 07, 2024 - BG verification completed Feb 07 - Copr details generated Feb 12 - PPR mail
Worthy of mentioning is that we applied for wifey's visitor's visa mid-way. We applied in July 2023 and visa approved in Aug, 2023. Also, wifey was able to get a job in principle (guys, there's no hack here. just aggressive sending of job applications), while she waited for her ppr. Within the 2months we waited for the PPR mail, we decided to apply for an open spousal work permit. We flagpoled ( bad move. can't flagpole as a PR) and later applied online for an open spousal work permit for wifey. What's interesting is that, the minute the online application for an open work permit was sent, IRCC decided to update the spousal PR application to BG completed, COPR details generation and hence PPR mail. So, safe to say that the independent application prompted the system to do the needful, lol.
Rooting for everyone waiting it out for IRCC to do the needful. Cheers! Congratulations on your PPR. Can you please share with us what your approach was with the Visitor Visa, we are just planning to put everything together now just like you did. Spousal Sponsorship followed by visitor visa application, was there anything special you did to ensure that the visitor visa was granted or is it safe to say that as a potential PR (Spousal Sponsorship in progress) the visitor visa is all but guaranteed ? Thank you for your time. |
