Federal Government is to construct about 243-kiliometre rural roads and reconstruct 375-kilometre roads for farmers in seven northern participating states under the International Fund for Agriculture Development, Climate Change Adaption and Agribusiness Support Programme, IFAD-CASP, to ease transportation of their farm produce to potential market places. The seven northern states are Borno, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara. He said the roads would benefit about 7,000,000 persons and farmers within the participating states, while noting that the intervention of rural infrastructure was to unlock vast and enormous potentials in the rural areas. Earlier, National Programme Coordinator, Climate Change Adaption and Agribusiness Support Programme, CASP, Alhaji Muhammad Idah, said rehabilitation of the erosion-prone roads will accelerate economic growth on a sustainable basis, improve agricultural production, facilitate easy access to farms and transportation of farm inputs and produce to the markets, as well as reduce vulnerability of smallholder farmers, particularly women and youths. Its good to know that their are some people in the east who still believed that irrespective of the tribe or religion, Nigeria can still be great under the supervision of this present administration. We should not allow some bad eggs in this country to poison our minds toward contributing our own quota in the development of this country.

No doubt, the fact is that the Buhari led administration has done a lot in less than four years and as a patriotic Nigerian, i believed that if this government is given a chance for a second term they will do more, a government that can achieve this in this few year surely has a lot to offer. In less than four years, they were able to correct mistakes done by the past government, set reforms to tackle corruption, this administration has invested in people, revitalization of the multi National joint task force[MNJTF] aimed at combating trans-boarder crime and the boko haram insurgency and so many more.

PoliticsNigerians Don’t Believe Pdp Anymore-garba Shehu by Belluchii(op): 8:30am On Aug 03, 2018
NIGERIANS DON’T BELIEVE PDP ANYMORE

Claims by the failing Peoples Democratic Party that President Muhammadu Buhari had taken a 10-day leave in order to leave the stage for illegal and unconstitutional actions by the administration are both ridiculous and a hollow narrative to garner cheap sympathy.

That the President, himself a sworn democrat had handed power to his deputy without compulsion is itself exemplary and innovative, something that the PDP failed to produce in their sixteen years of monumental mismanagement and sadistic plunder.

For the benefit of the doubters, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, the Vice President who acts in the absence of the President is a lawyer of the highest rank and a social rights crusader who had received local and international acclaim before he took the present office. It is inconceivable that this is the team to copy the bad manners cast in stone in the PDP.

We welcome objective criticism and take them seriously and humbly, but Nigerians must by now be tired of a party, the stock in trade of which is to cry wolf where there is none, ostensibly to spread negativity and distract the President’s attention from the cleansing operations he has been mandated to carry out.

The President is carrying out difficult reforms for the future growth of the country, such as the implementation of the ease of doing business, the Treasury Single Account, TSA, the whistleblower process, and hundreds of others, including the massive investment in rail, roads and power. If such reforms had happened in 16 years of the PDP, it would have made things much better for the country.

Instead, they seem to be fixated with a desperate quest for power, nothing but power for its own sake because they have nothing to offer. They draw a sadistic pleasure when things appear to be going wrongly, yet they offer nothing by way of remedy or solutions.

The whole country is fighting corruption and the ordinary citizen is happy about all that is happening. The economic parameters have changed for the better, a clear indication that the administration’s political and economic strategies are working but the opposition is not interested.

If the PDP doesn’t have anything that would help our farmers, women, the common man and the youth, they should just keep quiet.

In the end, one thing Nigerians should take away from the cacophonous falsehoods from the PDP and the tenants back in their tent is that they all fear one thing, that their old records will be reopened.

Politics8.5 Million Children Benefiting From School Feeding Programme – FG by Belluchii(op): 12:07pm On Jul 31, 2018
The federal government says it is feeding 8.5 million children each school day under its school feeding programme across the country.

The Special Adviser to the President on Social Investments, Maryam Uwais, disclosed this in Kano at a high level interactive Social Policy Workshop on strengthening capacity to ensure sustainability for Child targeted programmes in Northern Nigeria.

She said the gesture was aimed at not only reducing the pressure on families to provide food on the table for their children, but also improve learning outcomes and improves the health of the children.

“Enrolment of children in primary schools has drastically improved. Many of our poorest citizens do not prioritise education, often due to lack of appreciation of how education can enhance the fortunes of a child,” she said.

UNICEF Nigeria in collaboration with the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, organised the workshop for 19 northern states commissioners of planning and women affairs.

The workshop was organised under the UNICEF New Country Programme (2018-2022), designed to expand the scope of interventions in social policy activities in northern.

She noted that the engagement of over 136,000 teaching assistants under the federal government’s N-power programme across the country had improved the quality of education being received by the children.

Mrs Uwais said the school feeding programme was initiated by the federal government to address school enrolment problem and boost their nutrition.

“Our potential as a nation cannot be fully realised when over 40 per cent of our population are deprived of their capacity to achieve their full potential.

“Where we do not deliberately plan to educate and empower the our girl-child, we lose the economic potential of the the value she could have contributed to herself, the household and the community, not to talk of the impact of her knowledge on her children and generations.”

She, therefore, urged the participants to find out why the northern part of the country was lagging behind on many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) especially on health and survival of Children.

In his remarks, the Emir Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, called on state governments do everything possible to ensure effective implementation of policies that will check child and maternal mortality.

He said the Emirate Council would continue to support all government’ policies and programmes aimed at promoting girl-child education in the state and the country at large

PoliticsFG Raises N748bn From Oil Tax, Royalty In 2017 – DPR by Belluchii(op): 1:10pm On Jul 27, 2018
The Department of Petroleum Resources ( DPR ) said the Federal Government earned N748 billion from taxes and royalties paid by oil and gas companies operating in Nigeria in 2017.

This was contained in DPR’s report made available at a workshop organised for energy reporters in Lagos on Friday.

The report said the revenue represented about 83 per cent of the agency’s target.

The report also stated that the agency renewed close to 25 oil blocks, which had combined revenue of about 1billion dollars.

http://thenationonlineng.net/fg-raises-n748bn-oil-tax-royalty-dpr/
According to the report, the agency granted approval for 16 new field development plans in 2017, which would increase the nation’s oil and gas production by 560,463 when completed.

“We renewed 19 expired leases in 2017 to enhance upstream investment influx and accelerate oil and gas reserves and production growth.

“We actively supported the implementation of a major gas commercialisation programme, which seeks to create a regulatory framework to facilitate gas flare monetisation to end gas flaring by 2020,” the report said.

The agency said it issued ten licences and approval for development of gas production and processing facilities that culminated in the commencement of the operation of the plant.

The agency said it revised and issued new DPR procedure guide for the determination of quantity and quality of petroleum products in Nigeria.

The DPR said it initiated early lease renewal programme to accelerate revenue generation for government.

It added that this was meant to fund national budget and incentivice upstream investment by ensuring security of tenure, long gestation and payback period for oil and gas investments.

The agency further said it facilitated improved cooking gas penetration with local consumption growing from 390,000 metric tons to 470,000/metric tons with a potential to hit 500,000 metric tons milestone.

“We increased national gas reserve base from 192.07trillion cubic feet to 197.74 trillion cubic feet representing 3.5 per cent increase over the preceding year.

“We increased operator compliance on National Production Monitoring System (NPMS) by commencing the upgrade of the NPMS to real time data captured in 26 crude oil terminal locations.

“This improved the efficiency in the administration of crude oil export and production accounting,” the report added.
