I read everyone's comments and I appreciate people's perspective to this issue. I will not castigate any response, but before I pen down my take on this matter, I would like to say that our responses to issues like this should he devoid of an form of bias and vendetta. 1. That a firm or organisation is licensed to do something doesn't mean they cannot flout the laws that guide the activity. While it is not illegal to move money, moreso that Bankers warehouse is a licensed CIT, did they ensure that the law is followed to the letters? 2. We do not know what had happened in the background, so to say EFCC was hasty would be unfair. 3. I am a learner in financial crime law and in how CBN relates with commercial bank. But I think, Union Bank in Enugu could have taken the Dollars to CBN Enugu. CBN credits their position . Union bank Lagos can withdraw this cash from CBN Lagos. I don't know if they operate like this, but if this is possible and Union bank did not explore this option, then the movement, hence the purpose of such funds is questionable. 4. Again, for Union Bank to come out publicly to claim this money, I do not suspect anything shady, only that some laws may have been flouted, or maybe, an insider tipped EFCC about this movement, then it is suspicious. I will conclude by saying, all parties could have been more diplomatic about this. The "hastiness" of EFCC, the lackadaisical attitude of Union bank when EFCC tried to reach them. Let's see how things unfold. But there is more to this than meets the eye. |
I think it is high time the church clarified this issue of Celibacy. Man (human being) was not created to be Asexual or not capable of having sexual feelings or emotions. We are very sexual, it is who we are and denying it is like starving yourself of food. Eventually, when you can no longer go hungry, you find food to eat. Celibacy is a gift from God and not something that can be attained by the strongest of will, determination and abstinence. Apostle Paul's gift was not to develop, feel or have any sexual emotions. If we read well into his admonishment, he said that to avoid sexual sins, it is better to get married. Getting married doesn't stop God from using one. Afterall God instituted marriage, designed sex (intimacy) albeit in marriage. As much as Catholics want to devote themselves to the God and "papacy", Catholic priests can be happily married and serve God. They can be happily married and perform great and mighty miracles in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. But living in denial and abstinence through sheer " determination" without the backing of the gift/calling of the Father, we will only continue to see an upward spiral in this distasteful and disgusting moral lasciviousness and decadence. I am not saying a long standing tradition should be abolished, but new intakes into the "fatherhood" fold should be sure if God's calling on their life. Some of Jesus's disciples were married. Apologies for my poor choice of words. I am not insensitive and I do not mean to intentionally hurt anyones faith |
When we talk about exchange rate and economic development, people think it is all about Naira gaining Already we see a convergence in the exchange rate across all platforms. Last wholesale intervention was 358.91, I&E window was 363, black market around 358/359, BDCs at 360. One more thing needed to be done is to banish the act of subsidizing dollars for Jerusalem and Hajj pilgrims. So what extraordinary thing will Atiku to have a uniform exchange rate if the fundamental economic issues are not ironed out and resolved? Our balance of payment/trade is still deficit, so how does Atiku plan to turn the table around? I do not campaign for anybody but one major difference between APC of today and the PDP of today is that at least with APC we can see the vision, although fuzzy with bureaucratic bottlenecks, but this current PDP have still not shown that they are serious about taking Nigeria out of this quagmire. I expected PACT to be united and put aside any pride and personal prejudices, but again they showed us that they are just as Nigerian as PDP and APC. A trio of Fela, Moghalu and Sowore in the helm of power will give both APC and PDP a run for their money. I weep for Nigeria |
One can see that those 11 states are linked by rail. This is a good initiative though, but one can see that it is almost dead on arrival. Why incorporate inefficient government agencies and trade unions into this? Bureaucracy will be the stumbling block to its success. This should have been a private- public partnership thing; like 75% driven by private institutions because this is the real way to maximise the value chain. You create wealth and empower people by encouraging entrepreneurship. Well I hope this succeeds because it is a big move. |
@Protein0 Please I need Xiaomi Note 5A 2 gig ram and 16 gig. What is the price and how soon do I get it? |
My Itel P51 won't charge when it is on. It only charges when the phone is off. The battery misbehaved and went bad some weeks ago and ever since then it won't charge while it is on. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Please what can I do? |
Wow. These skills must be prerequisites for my gfs and wives. ![]() I don't mind getting invitations from the cooks on this thread. Just holla me when next you are making these pies. I will be there ![]() |
This is the best thing I have heard a government official say in a very long time. Power has held this giant captive for too long. Solve the issue of power (electricity) anyhow it may be solved and see things fall in place. This is green light private investors. Get me a 10MW gas/diesel turbine and I will feed all the residential houses in my local government. With the 8000W PV panels on my roof, I can sell power to my neighbours. . Wow this is great news. Prices will be competitive now. Discos will have to imbibe design thinking and customer service into their businesses . local governments should be given the power to regulate power and its pricing in their jurisdictions. |
Congratulations to the outbound TS graduates, I hope you all had a great time. I would love someone to advice me on this. I really wish to reschedule my resumption to the next batch. I hope this is still possible since I got my personalized invite yesterday and it is just 3 days to resumption. Again, how did you guys deal with laundry? Are there laundry guys there abi make I carry my detergent and canoe bar soap come? As per haircut and beard shaving, I hope there aren't not strict rules concerning this. I'd love to some thick bush on my head, albeit clean and tidy, and I really don't like clean shave. Well these are just frivolities, aren't they? ![]() Congratulations to the incoming TS students and the AC invitees |

bellyjean:Good evening nairalanders. There is a new update to my case. This afternoon, a telegram user sent me a message on the platform raining curses on me and asking me to return his money. Immediately I saw his message, I placed a call to him via telegram. He wouldn't calm down. He went on ranting and abusing me, calling me all sort of names. I cut the call and sent messages to him. It was after he read the messages that he could even give me audience. I placed a call to him again and he told me he was from a bitcoin verified escrow group and that he made payments to my account. He said the name on the account is Nathaniel something ( I didn't get the other names). Well I am not Nathaniel. Clearly, we are victims of the same scammer or network of scammers. In fact the user name of the scammer now carries my own user name. And every other person who tries to contact him is directed to me. I begged this guy ( the new victim) to let us work together and involve the police. But he kept saying things like the person who duped him will run mad if he doesn't return his money (he still thinks I am the scammer), he doesnt need the money again but the person will run mad. I also begged him to add me back to the group or send me an invite link to the group but he didn't respond. If this guy is serious, I think we have concrete evidence that will aid the police in their investigation. But I pray he agrees to this. Pls if anyone knows a police station with patriotic and dedicated police in Lagos, abeg refer me to the place. God bless. |
onatisi:Thanks everyone for your concerns. I was offline through out the weekend. I contacted the fraudster's bank (first bank). Through God's mercies, I met a church member who works in the branch I visited. He looked up the account and verified that I truly made the payment to the account. In fact he found out that the account had been reported for a similar case before. And that the fraudster usually moves the money to his diamond bank. Thank God for BVN. So he advised that I go lodge a complain in my bank (GTB) and they should be able to direct me as to which actions to take in order to initiate a refund. I contacted gt online care and I was referred to the police or efcc. The responder says since the payment wasn't made in error and it was a fraud issue, then I have to involve security operatives. I don't really know how things will pan out from this point. I have not had any dealings with the police or efcc before. But I am sure some people here have had this experience and they were able to recover their funds with the help of the police. I beg my fellow nairalanders to help link me with any police station who are very good at this and can do this quickly, albeit, reasonable with their charges; I am a student. It is a little sum of money, but I wouldn't be downcast if it takes a longer time for this guy to be brought to justice, as long as he is caught and he faces the full wrath of the law Just as a warning to my fellow nairalanders, the fraudsters name is Anyebe Peter Adakole Thank you. cc:: Onatisi, Dominique, Gboliwe, Deathwing, Okwalfugo |
Gboliwe:I followed a link. But I can't even find the link again. |
Nairalanders pls help me out here I joined a cryprocurrencies escrow group on telegram. I have been on the group for like 5 or 6 days and I have seen trades happen. People buy and sell all types of coins. There are trusted traders and one can also use the admins as escrows, however, at a cost. Today, I decided to buy some doge coins from a seller on the group. Just to avoid scam stories, I decided to use the escrow service of the admin. I transferred money to his account and he (the admin) confirmed the alert a couple of minutes later. But shortly after this, I was literally thrown out of the group. The group tab disappeared from my telegram chat list. Immediately I sent messages to the 3 members of the group I had chatted before; the admin inclusive. I noticed that their status was changed from online to seen a long time ago, their profile pictures gone. I guess they all blocked me. Since I have no way to go back into the group, I couldn't get snapshots of the conversations in the group. All I have on me is the bank account of the admin that I sent money to. But what baffles me is that is it possible for the 200+ members of this group to be all scammers? I just weak Does it mean that all the trades that were posted on the group never happened and were gfabricated? I plan to go to the admins bank (first bank) on Monday and lodge a complaint that I sent money in error to the account OR I involve the police. Probably get a lawyer so that the owner if that account is traced. But I can't even afford to pay the police or get a lawyer. Pls good people if Nairaland, help me out here. |
