If Nigerian churches have been using tithes on the poor, widows, and soul winning, the sudden brouhaha on the issue would not have been. Tithe is not biblical in the new testament, but many will gladly give more than 10% if church administrators channelled the funds appropriately. When, however, church leaders choose to build billion dollar cathedrals and live large, and build biz empires for their families, it makes one feel stupid paying 10% that that will be used to used to satisfy human selfish appetites. How can members of a church pay tithes and children of the same members die because the family did not have money to care for their sick? How can members pay tithes and some pastors in same church beg to send their wards to schools? I rather give more than 10% to people of God in dire need than pay even 1% to church. After all, Jesus said:" ...if you do it to one of these, you have done it unto me..." Matt 25:40

If we should tithe, churches should use the tithe for what it was used for in the old testament: attend to orphans and widows, take care of ministers etc. If churches use tithe funds to build schools, members kids should school in such schools free or at reduced cost. Same with hospitals. I do not think it is fair in God's sight that poor church members' kids cannot school in schools built with tithe funds.I cannot understand how a pastor can go on a rolls Royce while many church members are poor. Will Jesus be able to do that?
The issue is tithing. Yes, much important is what the tithe is done with. Many churches that emphasize tithing do not even pay their pastors well. How on earth can a pastor with family get #30k as monthly salary, yet the church's tithe is in millions? This beats my imagination.

I pray Nigeria advances. However, I am convinced PMB lacks the intellect, freeness of mind, foresight and hindsight to make it happen. He can hire the best from Harvard to write his speeches, but running a country is not reading written thesis. He lacks all it takes to lead. He has a complex issue. He is unsure of himself. He is vindictive. He is ethnically and religiously too biased to see issues clearly. He is already senile. His mistakes show us what he can do. I am not his member or fan, but I think it is high time we, nigerians, started being more security conscious. from the video, the building imploded. building surely do not collapse that way. besides, why should the same jet make 4 unusually very low passages over the building? the implosion came 9mins after the last passage.
