1.) Why invade when you could just get Trump to destabilize NATO and then have Trump let you take Ukraine, once he's reelected.
2.) The US was spending 300 million a day in Afghanistan. Add that up in 1 year and compare that to what we "gave" Ukraine.
3.) We don't really give Ukraine a lot of actual cash (we do give some). We give them money to buy US weapons or supplies which then also supports the economy on those areas where the factories are located in the US. And they tend to be Republican areas.
Also we give them old weapons which we would have to spend money destroying anyhow. And there is actual value in seeing how our weapons work "in combat".
4.) Ukraine is not the US. We are basically hiring an army (Ukraine) to fight Russia and advance our interests while US troops stay safe. Sounds evil, but that is what Big boys do on the world state.

This was what I expected. The debate could have been a home run for her given her buddies are the moderators on a network that spew 80% favorable coverage of her and 95% negative coverage of Trump, yet she is losing voters based on the economy on CNN poll.

Kudos to Harris for executing her plan. But her plan did not entail distancing herself from Biden. She did not sufficiently answer why she hadn't done the things she was talking about. And many saw her baiting Trump as a cheap trick to avoid getting in the weeds about her policies.

Really the whole debate was about letting her run wild on vague promises and going for the jugular on Trump. I commented long before the debate was over that he wasn't answering the questions as he should have, they fact checked closed the topic and moved on.
