But you are making some assumptions in some of the things you've written. But, I'll leave that there.

And outside of the situations where you can get exact locations, IP's do give you region location. But, the region location isn't the limit of an IP use. There are also ways to get personal information from your ISP with your Ip if someone really tried. And there are other uses, that I won't get into. Bemeruca repeatedly posted those phishing links because he thought they could be useful. And I think the most pernicious part of all this is the amount of personal information that people in this thread give out that they think is innocuous. Personal information that hackers would love.

As to the the ban. I don't report people outside of Sexual harassment, Tribal Slurs/Racism or extreme harassment. Though I probably should have done more reporting. I don't even know what you wrote, but very suspect you didn't mention what you banned for.

And they can be quite intrusive and cumbersome if you have a lot of bank accounts and services with that type of security on multiple devices and travel a lot. Hence the VPN travel router I use. But thanks for making my point again, that banks use IP geolocation as one tool for cybersecurity. You literally wrote a post to make my point for me and call Basilico a computer illiterate. How will this impact the election in November? If I was Trump I would hope that my trials end before the election, and I am exonerated. If he truly believed that he was not guilty this is what he would’ve pushing for. It would be a huge boost to his campaign as well as fundraising. Instead, he’s trying to delay trials and I think that will backfire.
