I hear you. I don't get involved, because the more people make irrational arguments against it, the more it forces me to think about it. And the more I think about the more I don't see a rational argument against it (outside of minors). Religious sensibilities aren't a rational argument in a country with freedom of Religion and a supposed "separation" of Church and State.

You don't seem to understand how Affirmative Action works/worked. Like most things you discuss here. Affirmative Action doesn't take wholly unqualified students and drop them in. It takes students who are mostly qualified, high GPA's and maybe a lower SAT score than the other applicants to fill out the percentage of students they want. Say the avg. Harvard SAT score is a 1500. They may accept someone who scored a 1200, which would still be around the 78th percentile. And the Harvard freshman class is roughly 2000 students with roughly 7% being African American. So, that would be ~140 African American Students in a class. So, let's posit someone got in based on Affirmative Action. That means that student was probably still a better applicant than 78% of the people taking the SAT and given they only accept 140 African Americans a given year, probably one of the best African American applicant that year. So, the question then becomes why didn't DEI help you into an IVY? And before you begin with you live in Nigeria, my g/f went to one of the top 4 schools in the US if not the world and she applied from SS in Nigeria.

Again, you have no clue what transgender means. They say gender is a social construct right? And gender is how one feels... Why do they need to fake or construct private parts to go inline with the gender they want to switch to?

It depends on your definition of transgender.
If it means having sexual attraction for a person of the same sex, then I have no problem with it as long as you don't take it beyond your bedroom. I believe I should not be in a position to impose bedroom etiquette on any body as long as minors and rape is not involved.

If transgender means having natural features, psychology and social behaviour opposite to the gender associated with the Instruments the person possesses, I also don't have any issues with that as long as I am directly involved.


But, if transgenderism means having surgical operation and hormonal treatment to convert one gender to another, then I do not support it. But if the person is a legal adult,have the finances and ready to bear the consequences, then that's their own problem.

I hate discussing sex and sexuality in public. Some people are too obsessed with these issues. They seem to verify Sigmund Freud's theory that men thinks of sex most of the time.
These issues are very personal issues and should never be flunted in public. There are children reading and watching for God's sake. Muslim and Christian fundamentalists are too obsessed with sex, particularly who, how and when women have sex. The also seem not to have any level of self control, and becomes crazy on seeing any part of a woman's bare skin.

What do you guys think of transgenderism?

I am a liberal at heart, I believe in a world of tolerance for all that different from me. I want progressive change in the society and dread the effects of the hard right however on this issue of transgenderism, I am really torn on this issue.

What causes transgenderism, are you guys in support of them? What about children who claim or "feel" that they are trans. Should teenage puberty blockers be allowed? Should their natural growth be distorted based on how they feel?

I saw this thread I'm posting below and I felt a lot of dread. Should anyone really pass through this? Should transgenders really truly have a highlighted role in the society worthy of emulation?? Guys help me out here.

I don't want to sound like a hateful conservative who doesn't care about the comfort and role of others in society but I need to know how liberals truly feel about this issue of transgenderism.
