Mr Man, Nobody, i repeat nobody on Nairaland can make your marriage work. No amount of advice here can make your marriage work. You know why? Nobody here knows you and your wife's true character upon which we can premise and profer solution. Btw, your wife hasnt told us her own side of the story. The time you use to come here to type all these can be used to go with your wife for some isolated vacation and try to make amends. There must be some way of getting through to her soul to effect reversal. You divorce today, then get ready to divorce again and again and even again. Like someone said, "it rains everywhere". So never you think that there are marriages without its own challenges. Everyone walks down that road at some point in time. It depends on how much you are willing to endure. But most times endurance and patience carries the day.
When ever i read stuff like this i feel pity for the unmarried ones who gets the wrong message and start being skeptical about marriage. More worrysome and stupid is that some married folks too read this kinda stuff and start judging their marriage by the advices given here.
Leave Nairaland now and go take your wife to somewhere you two will be alone for soul searching. Be the man by showing more wisdom and wit. Wish you success.

Not making a case for the wife but from the story, permit me to say that she probably got lonely and was tempted to do what she did.

After marriage in 1985, the man's job kept taking him away from home from 1986 to 1997. 11yrs. And he tried to visit Lagos (where the young wife is) twice a month. Haba!

Still not making a case for her and also not saying the man should not have worked o but this idea of couples staying apart has never been appealing to me. No be everybody fit hold body o.

Infact this DNA testing for Visa application has really opened some cans of worm.

A woman was collecting money for upkeep from a man she had a child for who did not marry her. He was at this time married and staying in the UK with his wife & kids but this other lady kept asking for money. His official wife got irritated by the continuous demands and suggested the child (now a teenager) comes over to join the other kids and she would care for him.

When e reach time for DNA screening, the result showed that the boy was not his child. The man had been spending on someone else's child. Na there story end.

Such periods of discouragement come once in a while. We all experience it but what I do is to try to appreciate Him for the things I have.

Just think of somethings He had done before that "dazed" you. There should be something.

Also, try to STOP COMPARING YOURSELF WITH OTHERS. They might "appear" happy but if you look deep down, all na wash.

Don't give up on God. Someday He will "pick your call". Maybe He is delaying to check whether you are really calling or just flashing. Keep calling so He will know its a call, not a flash.

Honey, I understand how you feel. Intact a lot of people (both Christians and non Christians ) have at one point or the other accused God of being unfair because they feel that He has not blessed them according to their expectations but he is busy blessing others who they might even be better than. Pls pardon me to disagree with you with the following points.

1. God is Sovereign. He has the final say. He is not answerable to anyone, owes nobody any explanations for the things he does and so we have no right to say He is unfair because He has not done things the way we expect.

2. His ways are not our ways. We cannot completely fathom the things He does. Ever heard the lyrics "we will understand it better by and by"?

3. He makes all things beautiful IN HIS TIME! Not our time, but His. Like Nairalanders will say "He picks people's calls when He chooses," not because He is under any obligation to.

4. He let's us go thru some situations to test our love for Him to see whether we love the gifts more than the Giver.

So no matter what the issues are, just believe that some day, He will pick your call and settle your issues. Until then, keep keeping on. It is not over until you win. Shalom!

That's the truth. A lot of people come to social media and "appear" to be happy and having a great marriage but dig deep and you will realize they are barely surviving.

Moral Lesson: Try to be happy where/how you are and stop comparing yourself with others who claim to be happy. You might be at a better place than they are.
