I write this with tears in my eyes but I won't cry because a man is not supposed to.

If really I was such a bad person , I hope to change and live a better life. But to deserve unemployment because of a past situation I found myself in which I couldn't help, I think it's too much for me to bear, but what do I know? maybe I deserve to be unemployed.

But if I tell you I'm not depressed, I'm lieing .

Last year I got a marketing Job with a bank few months after my NYSC when things were extremely hard . Even transport money to go for the training was hard. On the first day of training, on my way home, I lost my phone which was the only thing of value I had then. Safe to say I began the Job phoneless , cashless and frustrated .

Even money to buy bank wears and appear smart or serious was a case . No transport for work, no phone for my work and marketing, no clothes to wear, I'll leave out feeding coz I could control that with starvation or one square meal. My mom was only able to raise small cash for me which most times didn't last a week, transport to and fro was 400 naira, a plate of food was 300, before I get transport for marketing , airtime and transport to call and bringing customers to open accounts and running around on the job which was money intensive, anybody who worked a as marketer before can relate...all these with a huge target of 30 accounts to open and a target of 3 million to bring to the bank.. At least I'm expected to spend 1k a day on the Job which I have not been paid. Remember it was my first month and most banks don't pay in the first month, it's in the second month they combine your salary and pay. Pay was 35k. I was just frustrated.

All these struggles manifested in my performance coz I couldn't deliver and my first two months was a mess coz some days I just couldn't go to work. Sometimes I came to work late coz I had to look for transport money in the morning. Being able to come to work and survive was my main concern then, I fell sick many times out of starvation and it affected my Job. On one occasion or two the Branch manager assisted with stipends when I complained to her about my struggles. Most times the stipends only lasted a day or two but It was a life saver for me coz there was no other option, at least I was able to come to work and eat the next day. Fellow colleagues couldn't help, nobody could, I dropped shame one day in the board meeting and asked for help for we the new staff and how hard it is for us to keep up with the Job. I got nothing.

Not too long after, I resigned to pursue something else . I traveled.

Only for me to come back after 8 months for another bank Job interview and when my former Branch manager was called as a referral, the one I complained to about my struggles and reasons for my underperformance , the same one who assisted me sometimes and this was her reply "He's unserious, indiscipline and unfit for the Job. I was not supposed to hear that but the interviewer put it on loud by mistake and I heard that part before she quickly put the phone off. Immediately I knew I wasn't gonna get the Job.

It hurts me so much, dad is no more, mom a widow, siblings in school calling me day and night for money being the first son and bread winner. If I'm unserious and irresponsible, I can change & become better. No matter the circumstances I faced, I can't make excuses for that. But if I was such a terrible person to deserve unemployment . I let God be the Judge. The interview happened yesterday.

I'm back to the unemployment table guys. My advice to every young hustler out there is to do their best on any job they find themselves no matter the circumstances. But my prayer is for our pasts not to deny us our future bread. We go make am last last.

My advice in this, is that when on official duties make it official don't bring any atom of personal problems in an official environment. You would've tackled the personal challenges you encountered in the first job outside the office. Keep the office people in dark especially your superiors. I know it is always not easy but that's the discipline. I too witnessed even worse situations during my first job but with God and my own little effort I won. Cheers.

The Cross Rivers state government in partnership with the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar, have begun the rehabilitation of the inseparable mentally deranged family whose story went viral early this month.

Recall that a female youth corps member, Progress Oberiko, who is serving in the Ogoja area in the state, shared their story online after a heartwarming encounter with them. Read the story.

A statement from the Ministry of Health says the family of Mr. & Mrs. Ben Ogar popularly known as the Ogoja mentally deranged couple has been rescued following weeks of intense search by a team from the Cross River State Government and Federal Neuro Psychiatric hospital, Calabar, Cross River State.
Mr. Ben and his wife lost their means of livelihood about the same time six years ago while still resident in Abuja with their two kids, and what followed was a mental disorder leading to the Mr. Ben relocating himself and his wife to his country home in Ogoja where he opted to stay in a shanty rather than his father's house. His family rescued his first set of kids from him when he started showing signs of this disorder, and six years of roaming the streets of Ogoja produced the three kids he was rescued with.

Doctors confirmed Mr. Ben to be suffering from a mental disorder, while his wife is only having the 'folie a deux' syndrome as a result of her husband's ideation. The children, two girls and a boy, are in very stable condition and are responding to treatment very well.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, said the family are in stable condition and are respondting well to treatment. The family will be rehabilitated and reintegrated into the society with continuous medical care and social welfare, she concluded.
Meanwhile the Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs in the State, Mrs. Stella Odey, highligted that the family are also being offered some psycho-Social support in addition to the Medical Care already being provided by the State Government. While her counterpart from the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Social Welfare, Mr. Oliver Orok, noted that the State Government had already provided feeding and accommodation to the couple with adequate medical scare.
The Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, Dr. Joseph Bassey, asserted that the State Government are partnering with Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital to ensure the family receive all the medical services they require.

In fact they seem to be one of the happiest people in the world judging by how they go about life full of joy and vigor.

“There is ability in disability” is another saying that we have been used to hearing in the past couple of years but maybe the society has not done enough to assist those that have one disability or the other. It is as result of the urge to help people with disabilities realise their potential and find their purpose in life that the corporate social responsibility arm of MTN Nigeria, MTN foundation extended a hand of assistance to some visually impaired individuals from different parts of the country as part of its scholarships programme.

Throughout the month of September 2018 , the ICT company hosted the visually impaired students to a day long workshop at the civic innovation lab Abuja, Protea hotel Owerri and Muson Center, Lagos. The workshops focused majorly on how the visually impaired students who are also under the foundation’s annual academic excellence scholarship can make the most of the new and disruptive technologies that have changed human lives over the last decade. Topics touched upon at the workshop include how the students can land jobs in the competitive Nigerian job market despite their peculiar condition.
Live interview scenarios was organised for the students, where they had to face some of the HR team members of MTN Nigeria and a number of them were very impressive in their response to the questions thrown to them.
After the live interview scenario sessions came the ICT skills training where the students had a masterclass in Computer operations and at the end of the class they were all handed specially designed brailed manuals that they can refer to from time to time.
At the end of the training, the students went home with wealth of knowledge that they all promised to utilise to afford themselves a better life, as well as contribute to society development.
MTN Foundation was launched in 2005 with the aim of improving quality of life in communities across the country. For more than a decade, it has helped impact lives positively through several social investment programmes in the areas of education, health and economic empowerment.

Trial of two employees of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Mainasara Malami and Emmanuel Salihu, accused of duping unsuspecting citizens in the guise of offering them jobs with their agency, got underway yesterday at the Sokoto State High Court, Sokoto with the prosecution counsel, Sa'ad Hannafi Sa'ad leading his first witness, Aliyu Umar Bangu in evidence.



Bangu narrated how the first accused, Mainasara, allegedly defrauded him of over a million naira with the promise that the said sum will be used to secure employment for seven persons in NSCDC.


The witness averred that he paid the sum of N 1,200,000 ( one million two hundred thousand Naira) for 7 slots across different cadres in NSCDC) into the Guaranty Trust Bank Account of Mainasara.



Two documents, statement of the complainant and an undertaking by the accused to refund the complainant in the event that he failed to secure the jobs, were tendered before the court and admitted as exhibits.



IJustice Dogon Daji has adjourned further hearing till 23rd October 2018. The Judge further directed the two accused persons to remain in prison custody pending ruling on their bail applications at the next adjourned date.

he brown tree snake is a stealthy, international traveler.
Invasive to Guam, this snake species known with a botanical name, Boiga irregularis, first arrived on the Pacific island during World War II, most likely by hitchhiking on troop carriers from Australia, according to a statement.
Ever since, it has been devastating native bird populations in Guam and nearby islands. Since these snakes don't have natural predators to hunt them there, they were able to rapidly multiply, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
Their venom, thought to be unique, contains two separate toxins that, together, make it 1,000 times more toxic to birds and reptiles than to mammals (their bite has only a minor effect on adult humans).
But in a recent study, researchers investigated the venom of other snakes in the genus Boiga and found that they too had this double-toxin venom. So, any of these other species might have caused similar devastation on bird populations had they spread like the brown tree snake.(Reported on Sept. 12 in the Journal of Molecular Evolution).
Now, researchers are concerned that brown tree snakes and others will continue to spread to new habitats … by boarding flights.
"It's just that this particular species was transported to Guam by accident," senior author Bryan Fry, associate professor in the school of biological sciences at the University of Queensland,revealed in the statement.
The brown tree snake is native Indonesia, the Solomon Islands, New Guinea and Australia, according to the USGS. And what made it easier for them to travel to new places, at least for the last 80 years or so, are planes, Fry said.
The snakes continue to hitchhike — especially on military planes flying from Guam to Hawaii, according to the statement. "They’re regularly intercepted in the Hawaii airports, so if these direct flights are allowed to continue, it’s only a matter of time until they get to Hawaii and wipe out the birds like they did on Guam," Fry said.

Stephen Ringo weighed 29st at his heaviest after gorging on two Big Macs, two large fries, and two large cokes as well as 20 chicken nuggets every day for lunch, followed by a Domino's pizza for dinner.
But the collapse of his marriage, forced the 38-year-old to re-evaluate his health and made a change. He eventually put in the work and shed an incredible 16st.
Before he lost weight, Stephen, of Johnson City, Tennessee, was so large he struggled to put on his socks, and the extra pounds drove his sex drive "into the ground". The 5ft 7in IT expert said his body issues deeply affected his confidence and wore away at his marriage until he got divorced in 2016.
Stephen then began to curb his fast food addiction and returned to his power-lifting roots in October 2016, shedding an incredible 16 stone in just two years.
He said:
It’s fair to say that my weight ruined my marriage.
It was the single biggest factor.
My relationship with my wife deteriorated as my weight crept up.
I was depressed and as that set in intimacy kind of left. My weight drove my sex life into the ground.
I believe my depression and lack of sex drive ultimately drove my wife away from me.
If I had been a better husband I might have been able to pull the marriage back together.
My weight held me back from doing so many things. Getting dressed in the morning was tough.
I could hardly put on my socks.
My ex-wife and I went on vacation to New York City in 2012 and my weight really took a toll on me.
When you’re in New York, there is a lot of walking involved.
After a walk in Central Park I had to sit on a bench to catch my breath for a half an hour. I felt like a failure.
I never prepared meals and I usually ate fast food.
I would usually go to McDonald’s for lunch and order a Big Mac family meal, which was two Big Macs, two large fries, and two large cokes as well as 20 chicken nuggets.
I would drive through the drive through so they might think I was ordering the meal for a family.
After I finished I always felt so bad about myself. I hated myself.
For dinner I would order Pizza Hut or Domino's.
I was almost as round as I was wide. My pants were 60ins and I was 67ins tall.
Stephen said his return to the gym in October 2016 was extremely discouraging as he realised how far he had let his fitness slip. But the former powerlifter hit the gym every day and began practising intermittent fasting which sees him eat only between 5pm and 9pm each evening.
The combination, which Stephen has documented on his YouTube channel, has helped him shed 222lbs and his 60ins waist shrink to 32in.
Stephen said:
My first time in the gym I was disgusted with myself. I could literally bench 175lbs which is as much as I could when I was a young teenager.
I don’t know how I had let myself get that far.
Gradually I’ve built myself back up 340lbs.
Now I practice intermittent fasting which means I only eat between 5pm and 9pm.
When I get home I break my fast with an apple and for dinner I have ground turkey and a pound of green beans.
I have two cups of air popped popcorn and one low-fat ice cream.
Stephen said his weight loss has changed his life and confidence and thinks he would be a stronger partner now that he has turned around his life.

Operatives of the Niger State Police have arrested crimes suspects including kidnappers that sent threat letters to businessmen demanding for huge sum of money to avoid being kidnapped.Total of Eight Criminals involved in the activities have been apprehended.
A statement issued on Tuesday, September 11, by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Muhammad Inna, said that that one Alhaji Sardauna Babirki of Bangi, Mariga LGA on August 25, reported that he received an anonymous call threatening him to render a sum of N2,000,000.00k to avoid been kidnapped.
On receipt of the report, a team of Police detectives attached to Bangi Division carried out a painstaking investigation, trailed and arrested the principal suspects; one Kabiru Madawaki, 26, and Samaila Wanka aged 35, both of Bangi and Beri villages of Mariga LGA respectively.
Investigation further revealed that in the month of August, 2018, the same gang threatened one Alh. Idris Madawaki of kwana Bala Buzu, one Alh. Garba Dali ‘m’ of Bangi and one Inuwa Nababa ‘m’ of Makenkeme, all in Mariga LGA on different occasions and received the sum of N 250,000 N 350,000 and N 100,000 respectively from their victims. The suspects confessed to the crimes and will soon be charge to court.
Similarly, on 21st August, 2018 , the operatives carried out another operation in Mariga LGA which led to the arrest of another two-man gang, one Yushau Audu aged 26yrs and Mohammed Sani aged 23yrs, both of Angwaka and Mangoro villages respectively, who wrote a threat letter to one Alh. Dantani Audu ‘m’ of Mangoro village in Mariga LGA demanding a sum of four Million naira (N 4,000,000.00k) to avoid being kidnapped but were apprehended before receiving the amount.
The suspects confessed to the crime, and will soon be charge to court.
In a similar operation, on 7th September, 2018 one Alh. Bahago ‘m’ of Kwakuti in Paiko LGA reported that sometimes in the year 2015 some unknown kidnappers called him to render a sum of N500, 000 to avoid been kidnapped.
In the month of June, 2018, the same gang of kidnappers called him again demanding two million naira or else he will risk his life. On receipt of the complaint, a team of Police Detectives attached to the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad smashed a syndicate of three-man gang of kidnappers and arrested one Abubakar Umar alias Yellow, aged 20yrs of Ungwan Kaura Zungeru in Mashegu LGA while two others still at large.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. Exhibits recovered include: one fabricated SMG rifle with five (5) live ammunitions while effort is intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects, case under investigation.
On 6th September, 2018 at about 1330hrs, a team of Police Detectives attached to Lapai Division while on surveillance along Lapai Ebbo road intercepted one Umar Idris ‘m’ aged 21yrs and Moh’d Kabiru Gazuma, aged 24yrs both ’m’ of Kpatsuwa village in Abaji LGA Abuja on a motorcycle suspected to be stolen, during interrogation they confessed to have robbed the motorcycle from one Abubakar Shuaibu ‘m’ of the same address
Investigation further led to the The suspect confessed to the crime, exhibits recovered includes six pieces of Amoured cables, saw Blade, scissors, pliers, touch light, bunch of copper wires, and burnt electricity cables. Case will soon be charge to court. arrest of one Emmanuel Titus, aged 24yrs of the same address who supplied them with arms. Exhibits recovered include one motorcycle, one locally made revolver pistol with one live ammunition, face mask and a charm. Case will soon be charge to court.
In another stroke, on 27th August, 2018 at about 0730hrs, based on a tip off, Police Detectives attached to Mokwa Division arrested one Aminu Sani aged 25yrs of main Garage Mokwa, Mokwa LGA for vandalizing a transformer situated at Ezhigi village of Mokwa LGA.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has refuted claims that the State Assembly is planning to impeach the State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, over his decision to seek re-election.
In a chat with DailyTrust, the Chief Press Secretary to the speaker, Musibau Razak, said there is no iota of truth in the speculation trending on social media and some online news websites that the Speaker was acting on instructions to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Ambode.
Rasak also revealed that the relationship between the Governor and Speaker is “smooth and solid”.
“This is political. Lot of information are being circulated here and there but there is no iota of truth in the report. The relationship between the Governor and Speaker is smooth and solid,” Razak said.
Remember there are claims that Bola Tinubu is against Ambode's re-election bid and that there are plans to impeach Ambode for going against the former governor's will.
