Yes. It looks like it is going to be life cos that is the penalty for the offence he has been charged for. |
Yeah, Nigerian Politicians and businessmen normally buy cash. Even if they chose to go down the mortgage route, they are compelled to put down a substantial deposit e.g. 50% of the property value. |
Silence is best answer for a dumb arse illiterate. You need to go back to learn how to communicate. FYI, i opened this thread and i can discuss whatever i deemed fit. Why should i open another thread and flood the forum with several threads. If you do not like the contents of a thread, do not read it just move on with your life (if u ve got one) You seem to be embellishing yourself in petty issues and i wont make any attempt to convince u cos it is pointless. Have a good life and leave this thread alone if it cause u so much pain!!! Sad O! |
Same question i asked on another thread and some idiot called it a daft question. But no need to dwell on the idiot. I completely agree with you. I am curious as to how a banker acquired a 4 million pound apartment in central london. I am not suggesting anything shady but i am extremely curious |
It seems you are the daft one but i wont bother joining issues with you cos i have better things to do. I have seen most of your posts and it is full of uneccessary juvenile abuse which clearly shows you can't articulate yourself constructively. Someone who is quick to use derogatory terms over the simplest of matters clearly has a personality problem |
Breaking News8:52pm UK, Saturday December 26, 2009 US Plane 'Bomb Plot': Nigerian Charged Jon di Paolo, Sky News Online A 23-year-old Nigerian man has been charged with trying to blow up a packed passenger jet just before landing at Detroit airport. Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab is charged with attempting to destroy the aircraft and with placing a destructive device on the plane. British police are carrying out searches in the UK after the London student, suspected of being an al Qaeda operative, allegedly attempted to blow up a US plane. He was enrolled until recently and is accused of trying to blow up the transatlantic passenger jet, with explosives strapped to his leg, as it landed on Christmas Day. A University College London spokesman has confirmed that Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab was enrolled on a mechanical engineering course between September 2005 and June 2008. The Nigerian man caused panic as the jet was about to land at Detroit with 278 people aboard when he apparently tried to detonate some sort of bomb. Overpowered by passengers and crew after the device failed to ignite properly, sources have since told Sky News that his device was apparently hidden during transit in a pillow. He had flown from Lagos, Nigeria on KLM to Amsterdam's Schipol airport and transferred to Northwest Airlines - which is merging with Delta Air Lines - for the nine-hour flight to Detroit in an Airbus A330-300. Security sources tell Sky that the man was not apparently known to the security services but police are checking his upmarket London address and other UK connections. A Nigerian banker is meeting with police as his son may be the alleged bomber. Alhaji Umaru Mutallab confirmed his 23-year-old son may be the man connected with the failed plot. He said his son left London - where he was a student - to travel, though he did not know where to. Mr Mutallab said: "I believe he might have been to Yemen, but we are investigating to determine that." His son had applied for a US entry visa to ostensibly attend a religious seminar. An official briefed on the attack said the US had known for at least two years that the suspect could have terrorist ties - but he was not on the "no-fly list". After being arrested Abdul Mutallab claimed to have been acting on instructions from al Qaeda. He later told authorities that he had used a syringe filled with chemicals to mix with powder taped to his leg, according to senior officials quoted anonymously in the US media. Politician Peter King of New York, the senior Republican on the House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee, said the explosive device was "fairly sophisticated". Suspect's upmarket London home "(The device) appears to be different from what we've encountered before," Mr King told Fox News. "When it did go off he himself was seriously injured, my understanding is he has third-degree burns - this could have been catastrophic." President Barack Obama convened a high-level meeting and the White House called it "an attempted act of terrorism." Meanwhile, passengers can now expect more detailed inspections after US authorities ordered airlines worldwide to tighten security and reduce carry-on luggage allowance. A representative for British Airways released the following statement: "The United States government has revised its security arrangements for all passengers travelling into the US. "This includes additional screening of all US-bound passengers and hand luggage before they board their flights, this applies to all carriers. US planes still load at Schipol "Passengers travelling to the US will only be allowed to carry one item of hand luggage. "We apologise to passengers for any delays to their journeys. Safety and security are our top priorities and will not be compromised." A spokeswoman for BAA added that British passengers should adjust airport arrival plans. "To support this important process, which will take time, we would advise passengers to leave more time to check in, If in any doubt, please contact the relevant airline for further information." |
Sky news has just reported that: US Authorities have now charged Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab with attempt to destroy a Northwest Airline. The report goes further to state that preliminary analysis indicate the device contained highly explosive substance called pentearythritol |
But how did suspect bomber's dad afford to buy a 4million pounds flat in central london? Cos it has now been confirmed that he owns the flat/apartment How come Sanusi didn't clamp down on him? or am i missing something |
Source - ThisDay online Umaru Mutallab's Son Identified as Delta Airline Attempted Bomber • Father reported him to US Authorities six months ago The young man, who yesterday night attempted to ignite an explosive device aboard a Delta Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, Michigan in the United States has been identified as Abdul Farouk Umar Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old son of Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, former First Bank chairman. Mutallab, a former minister and prominent banker recently retired from the Bank's board. The older Mutallab, as at the time of filing this report, had just left his Katsina hometown for Abuja to speak with security agencies, family sources say. According to the family members, Mutallab has been uncomfortable with the boy's extreme religious views and had six months ago reported his activities to United States' Embassy, Abuja and Nigerian security agencies. The older Mutallab was said to be devastated on hearing the news of Abdul Farouk's attempted bombing and arrest. A source close to him said he was surprised that after his reports to the US authorities, the young man was allowed to travel to the United States. The family home of the Mutallabs in Central London, is currently being searched by men of the Metropolitan Police. THISDAY checks reveal that the suspect, Abdulfarouk Umar Muttalab who is an engineering student at the University College, London had been noted for his extreme views on religion since his secondary school days at the British International School, Lome, Togo. At the secondary school, he was known for preaching about Islam to his school mates and he was popularly called “Alfa”, a local coinage for Islamic scholar. After his secondary school, the suspect went to University College London to study engineering and later relocated to Egypt, and then Dubai. While in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, he declared to his family members that he did not want to have anything to do with any of them again. His father, Muttalab is a regular visitor to the US where he visits for medical check-up and holidays. He is expected to issue a statement later today. Muttalab is married to an Arab of Yemeni-descent. However, THISDAY could not confirm at the time of filing this report if the woman is the mother of the suspect now receiving treatment in Ann Harbor Hospital, Detroit, for burns suffered while he was trying to detonate the explosive device in the plane. Meanwhile, Prof. Dora Akunyili, minister of information and communications, has issued the following statement: " Federal Government of Nigeria received with dismay the news of an attempted terrorist attack on a US airline. We state very clearly that as a nation, we abhor all forms of terrorism. The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has directed Nigerian security agencies to commence full investigation of the incident. While steps are being taken to verify the identity of the alleged suspect and his motives, our security agencies will cooperate fully with the American authorities in the on-going investigations. Nigerian government will be providing updates as more information becomes available." Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab, had caused panic when he tried to detonate some explosive device strapped to his leg on Christmas Day while the US airliner was about to land at Detroit Metro Airport with 278 people on board. Abdulmutallab was overpowered by passengers after the failure of the device to ignite properly. He is currently being questioned by the FBI, according to a senior US official. A passenger, identified as Jasper Schuringa, told CNN that with the aid of the cabin crew, he helped subdue and isolate Abdulmutallab. Agency reports quoted the US federal law enforcement and airline security agencies as saying Abdulmutallab was taken into custody and is being treated for second- and third-degree burns on his thighs. Reports say the remains of the device the suspect detonated have been sent to an FBI explosives laboratory in Quantico, Virginia, for analysis. Even with the initial official impression that the suspect was acting alone and did not have any formal connections to organised terrorist organisations, there are reports that he was indeed a hard-core, trained al-Qaeda operative. Abdulmutallab was quoted in a US federal security bulletin to have admitted having extremist ties and said the explosive device "was acquired in Yemen along with instructions as to when it should be used". A Statement from Representative Peter King of New York, the senior Republican on the House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee, branded the explosive device as "fairly sophisticated". "(The device) appears to be different from what we've encountered before," Mr King told Fox News. "My understanding also is that while (the suspect) is not on a watch list, he definitely has terror connections. "There is a terrorist nexus leading towards al-Qaeda involving this assailant. When it did go off he himself was seriously injured, my understanding is he has third-degree burns. This could have been catastrophic." Abdulmutallab flew into Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on a KLM flight from Lagos and is not believed to be on any "no fly" list. This is despite his name appearing in a US database of people with suspect connections. An administration official also said he did not undergo secondary security screening in Amsterdam. It was from here he transferred to Northwest Airlines - which is undergoing a merger with Delta Airlines - for the nine-hour flight to Detroit in an Airbus A330-330. US President Barack Obama, who was holidaying in Hawaii, acting on briefing on the incident, instructed in a subsequent discussion with security advisers "that all appropriate measures be taken to increase security for air travel". Direct fallout of this incident is more rigorous security checks by airlines. A spokesperson for BAA said British passengers travelling to the US should expect their airline to carry out additional security checks prior to boarding. "To support this important process, which will take time, we would advise passengers to leave more time to check in and limit the amount of baggage being taken on board the aircraft," she added. "If in any doubt, please contact the relevant airline for further information." A Department of Homeland Security statement on Friday told air passengers that they "may notice additional screening measures put into place to ensure the safety of the travelling [sic] public on domestic and international flights." |
So, it is fair to say the suspect bomber may not have been short of funds based on where he lived in Central London and his father's status. Next question would be 'what was his motive'? Would it have been his belief? |
So, are we saying we are sure this man is Nigerian. I hope not for the sake of Nigerian. Well, it is obvious this bomber has a wealthy background as Sky News UK have confirmed his flat in central London is worth between 1.5 to 2.5 million pounds ; though it is claimed he was renting this apartment |
Though I am still wondering how we know for definite that this man is Nigerian. But , Sky news have just stated that a Nigerian Banker has said the suspect may be his son?? They quoted AP source. They said the Banker is meeting with Police but didnt say which Police i.e. UK, USA or Nigeria |
But do we know if this news is true and accurate? |
Burn The Fat Many people are trying to lose weight, no matter if they are exercising in the gym, jogging in the park, or eating a celery stick for every meal, they are all involved in various methods that they think will help them burn the fat effectively. For one thing, what most people must know is that they have been doing the wrong thing for a long time and it is just because of that they are still fat and have not lost much weight, or everything they have lost, they have put back on. Here, this article will look at the 3 biggest mistakes people are making and correct them in order for effective weight loss and higher metabolism rate. The first thing that most people think to do when trying to lose weight is to actually eat less, and some of them try the crash diet, which means starving themselves and the body. This is the worst thing that anyone can do because not only do they slow down the metabolism by doing this; they also prepare the body to just gain back the weight in a few months. No matter how you think this through, dieting the wrong way will only make your body into a sluggish machine that seems to transform everything into fat. What you need to be doing is to increase the number of meals that you are eating daily, meals that contain good protein, good healthy carbs, fibres and vitamins. These meals should be around half the portion of a normal meal and eaten 5 or 6 times daily. By doing this, you will be able to fully exploit your body's potential to burn fat and hence increase your metabolism rate. Another myth that people are following is that they run everyday and expect to lose weight. This is wrong. Running is bad on the knees and after a while your body will get used to this, and the fat will stop burning. You need to shake up your exercise, and add in a good dose of muscle building exercises. Lean muscles help to burn fat, because the muscle consumes fat and calories in order to work. The more lean muscle you have, the more fat you burn. Stop sticking only to your cardio routine and you will find yourself making a breakthrough in weight loss and achieving great improvements. The last mistake that people are making is they are not taking in enough vitamins and minerals, especially protein to form muscle and lose fat. According to the experts out there, you should burn the fat and feed the muscle! This means a quality nutrition programme that is more than 70% of your entire weight loss programme. Keeping these three tips in mind, you will be able to get rid of that belly fat, burn pounds, raise your metabolism and look great! These tips will get you on the fast track to losing weight and getting that body you always wanted. Don't be a fat mama or papa. Ensure you eat healthy and sensibly. Merry xmas to you and good luck while you burn the fat |

Thanks for all your comments. At the moment; another contractor is working on this costing. But he has come forward with a better recommendation with rgds to surface dimension. He says ; rather than go for 15ft length by 8ft width; we can go for 20ft length and 5ft wide. States it makes huge diiference cos the narrower; the better in terms of strength and cost, A wider surface slab would need more re-inforcement and hence cost more. Also believes that with rgds to the 9ft depth proposed by d first contractor, it doesnt need to be concrete all the way. States that water table might not be too high cos it is dry season. reckons we can get away with doing concrete half way and completing with blocks obviously with supporting pillars at strategic points. So, perhaps depth will 5 ft concrete and 4ft blockwork. |
