At last, the journey to Katsina has just ended, the City gate is here, i was received by a Staff of Natforce just trying to do some documentation before knowing the camp for training, i met twelve ppl going for d training as well, 24th of April is d day set aside for judgement on their case with Customs.

@Isiaka, one thing i observed on this NATFORCE is that the State Government has a lot of role to play if it must start operation in ny State because NATFORCE in my State, Imo State has been in Operation before i the issue of applying to the Organs came to my mind, I saw their Vehicle passed me in Orlu last week Friday, i called a Police man beside me and asked him about the court case against this force he told me he doesnt know that all he know is that the Chairman of the Force in My State is from my Local Govt Area. I just left my place for Onitsha where i will board vehicle goimg to Kaduna State cos no direct vehicle to Katsina from Onitsha.

Imo State Judicial workers are to receive twenty-eight thousand naira (N28,000) minimum wage monthly.

This disclosure was made by the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace and Conflict Resolution, Chief Peter Ohagwa while briefing journalists on the agreement jointly worked out by the State government and the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) .

He said the new salary will take effect from 1st April 2012.
Chief Ohagwa further disclosed that the joint agreement also resolved to maintain the different harmonized salary structure of the Judiciary, different from that of other public servants and to uphold same advantage in future salary review.
It was also resolved that there should be no further industrial action on the issue of the new minimum wage. Similarly, no member of JUSUN shall be victimized on same account.
The State Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Richard Anyadike, expressed happiness over the peaceful resolution of the long negotiation.
Comrade Anyadike urged judicial workers to relax their minds and do their job with diligence, assuring that the State Gvernment will not dissapoint them.
He recalled that Federal government approved new minimum wage of eighteen thousand naira in 2010 while the Imo State government under Owelle Rochas Okorocha adopted twenty thousand Naira for the lowest paid civil servant in the State in 2011

There was mayhem in Ibese, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State on Thursday after a couple and four other persons were crushed to death by a truck belonging to Dangote Cement Company.

The couple was said to be riding on a motorcycle when the incident occurred.

The driver of the vehicle escaped with his truck from the scene of the accident. This incensed members of the community, who allegedly descended on two other trucks belonging to the cement company and burnt them.

In the process, witnesses said a truck driver was consumed in the inferno as he was unable to escape from the trailer before the mob attacked it.

The state police command swiftly deployed about 50 armed policemen in the area to bring the situation under control and to forestall further destruction.

The Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Itori, Mr. Fatai Bakare, told our correspondent that the fatal accident was due to the recklessness of the truck driver.

He said the driver lost control of his truck and crushed the couple and five others.

Bakare said the number plates of the trucks were removed before the arrival of the FRSC and other security operatives.

He explained that two motorcycles carrying three passengers each, including the couple, were crushed by the trailer.

The FRSC unit commander added that the corpses of the victims had been deposited at the Ilaro General Hospital mortuary.

“It was an accident involving three trucks belonging to a cement company but before we got there, the number plates of the trucks were already removed.

“Seven people died in the accident, including a husband and wife riding on a motorbike. It involved six males and one female and their bodies have been deposited at the Ilaro General Hospital morgue.

“As expected, people reacted angrily and burnt down two trucks of the cement company. The accident was a result of recklessness on the part of the driver which led to the loss of control. Truck drivers along that route are generally reckless and FRSC is doing all that is necessary to put the situation under control,” he said.

The spokesman for the state police command, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, however said only four persons lost their lives in the accident.

Adejobi said on the phone that it was a fatal accident involving three trailers and two bikes. He said the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, had since Thursday night relocated to the town, and held meetings with the traditional ruler, youths organisations and the management of Dangote Cement Company.

“Since yesterday, the commissioner of police has been holding meetings with the traditional ruler, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, and all the stakeholders in the area on how best to manage the situation,” he stated.

The Head, Corporate Communications of Dangote Cement, Anthony Chiejina, in a statement denied that the trailer which crushed the victims belonged to the cement company.

Chiejina described the development as unfortunate, adding that the company’s officials were on ground to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance to the community.

Gunmen have invaded a branch of one of the new generation churches in Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State and whisked away a private security guard attached to the church.

The gunmen no fewer than four were said to have stormed the church after the day’s service with the intention to seize the offering of the day. Their efforts to get hold on the offering were futile as they were said to have ransacked every nook and cranny of the church.

Apparently infuriated by the futile search, the gunmen approached the security guard whom they had earlier bounded at the church’s gatehouse and hauled him into their vehicle before zooming off to unknown destination. The incident overwhelmed the congregation who were anxiously looking for clue as to the whereabouts of the abducted security man. Investigation revealed that the latest invasion was not the first in the same church, as it had earlier been attacked three years ago.

In the previous attack, Daily Sun learnt, the gun wielding men succeeded in seizing the offering and made away it unchallenged. Drawing experience from that attack, leaders of the church were said to have devised other measures of safeguarding the church’s offering to put paid to the evil machinations of the men of the underworld.

A source in the church decried the constant invasion of ‘God’s temple’ by hoodlums, describing it as ‘an abominable act’, which would attract severe wrath from the God. “What are they looking for in a church, we don’t have money. People are so daring these days to the extent of desecrating the house of God.”

The source appealed to the gunmen to “please, for the sake of God, free the security man,” and called on the suspects to repent, saying there was “no gain in crime. They should embrace God to have peace.” Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, ASP Famous Ajieh confirmed the invasion by gunmen and added that efforts were in top gear to arrest the fleeing bandits and free the security guard.

In May last year, yet-to-be identified gunmen also invaded a Catholic Church in Ilah, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state where they reportedly removed sacred items including monstrance, missal and chasuble, among others. The affected church was locked up for several weeks following the desecration and was re-opened for spiritual activities after it was re-dedicated by the bishop in the area.

Rather, he charged the elders to bring out the Boko Haram men and stop playing to the gallery over the security challenges in the area. Both Prof Nur Alkali, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chairman, Alhaji Baba Basharu, had re-echoed the position of the Borno Elders’ Forum for the Federal Government to withdraw JTF troops and remove roadblocks and other security checks in the troubled state, alleging excesses in the operation of the troops and hardship of residents, as reasons for their calls.
Most participants, including elders of the Borno Elders’ Forum, community, religious and opinion leaders, members of the academia and politicians at the Presidential Town Hall meeting held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Maiduguri Government House yesterday, as part of the president’s one day visit to Borno State, had expected the Presidency to declare amnesty for Boko Haram and announce the withdrawal of JTF troops from the state. But the president, in his response told the elders to forget it. Jonathan said: “It is not time to play to the gallery, whether you are politicians or not. I must be very frank, I’m not comfortable with the way you spoke (referring to speakers who called for the removal of soldiers).
The conclusion from the speakers is that there are so many bunkers and roadblocks in Maiduguri and Borno. Why should bunkers come, in the first instance? ‘There are so many APC (Armoured Personnel Cars) in Borno.’ Who wants to send APC to Borno? Some people even suggested JTF should be removed. Who wants to continue to spend allowances on security troops? We want to use the money for allowances of the troops to develop infrastructure. From what I gathered during my visit to Yobe State, the crisis is going down, in Adamawa, Gombe and Bauchi, but we still have a lot of challenges in Borno. So, if you elders of Borno will not condemn it (Boko Haram), we will continue to suffer under terror here and we cannot develop Borno without peace.”
The president challenged the elders to sign an undertaking with him that killing would no longer take place in Borno as a conviction for him to order removal of JTF troops, bunkers and sandbags, as requested by the Borno elders. “If any of you elders can come out to sign an undertaking now with me to guarantee that nobody will be killed again in Borno, I will withdraw soldiers or JTF from Borno today,” he stated. He said soldiers should ordinarily not have gone to Borno and other volatile areas in the country but for the sophistication of weapons being used by militants. The president said the Federal Government has always admonished troops on special operation to conduct themselves professionally and adhere strictly to the rules of engagement, but maintained he would not sit as president and allow any personnel of the nation’s security agencies to be killed.
“These people left their families and stay in the bush, in the streets, in this scorching sun so that you can sleep comfortably in houses. Therefore, I will not sit as president of this country and allow any soldier or our security personnel to be killed. We will not and I repeat, we will not allow it to happen,” the president said emphatically. Jonathan urged the educated ones to weigh the worth of the statement they make while speaking to people, adding that he was shocked to learn that a professor in a state in the North was going about misinforming people that polio vaccine causes infertility in women.
