Merge all your personal files into one document and upload under "client information" congratulations on securing a spot at Uwin

MissMichelleA:
Hi everyone.
I recently just got an offer for the University of Windsor.
I have paid the initial deposit required to confirm my acceptance and I want to start processing my student permit.
Please can I get guidelines?
I have setup my account and I have even opened a new application on IRCC.
I can see the documents they asked me to upload but I'm a bit confused as to where the police report, IELTS score card and other documents I see people talking about is supposed to fall under.
I would really appreciate it if someone can break it down for me.
Also my dad is my sponsor. I dunno if this information would be valuable as well.
Thank you.

Even if one party has a different view from the other, they obviously do not have any say right now since they are not in power yet. Although it's suspicious that this is happening towards election period

SOGalex:
Wondering how people are still applying upon series of refusals. In whole August and September, none was invited for medical and doesn't bother, seriously? The prime minister(PM) election is October 21st or something, and I heard it's because of this embassy are giving refusals because apparently the Liberals have different policies, especially Immigration policy, from the Conservatives. And not until after election things might not change. I have always known something is not right. Just sad that I fell into this group of victims but I will re fire immediately after the election.
Peace

Have you seen this sort of bloodbath on this thread before or this is the first time you are experiencing such?

Frankrobbn1:
WOW!!!!!!!! shocked cry REFUSALS ARE JUST FLOWING AROUND ON THIS THREAD shocked !!!!!. This is so disheartening cry. and I really feel for you guys. I can understand how you all would feel at this point in time, having invested your time and effort in the process. Nevertheless, the best possible way is to quickly order for your GCMS notes, defer your Admission if you feel there is limited time for you to meet up for the winter term, repackage your application immediately your GCMS notes arrives by including new documentations that will show that your current situation has substantively changed to merit a study VISA, contact any of the knowledgeable individuals on this thread to help Vet your SOP/LOE to be sure you've done the right thing and have adequately tackled the concerns raised by the visa officer in your previous application. Pray to God for grace because it can only be him, then Reapply.!

It shall end in praises.

Lol, good idea. But if all applicants wait, who will they gather info from? We are our own experimental samples

SOGalex:
In my own opinion I feel all applications for study permit from Nigeria should wait and see how things play out before reapplying. I discovered almost all August and September applicants didn't receive message for medicals before refusals and all that did upfront medicals were issued refusal after passed.
I feel if you can call that your admission should be deferred until we know what's actually going on.
Apparently, applicants that satisfied all were refused on flimsy grounds.
I wish all best of luck

Bro your wealth of knowledge Sha. I hail thee. I applied from Ghana although it was online, that's why I was asking

Frankrobbn1:
Ghana Immigration Officers are presently in charge of processing Permanent Residency Applications for some Nigerian Applicants. They are known to be very slow in dishing out approvals and final decision cry and at same time good at requesting updated bank statements and payslips from PR applicants during VISA processing. Over the years and at the beginning part of last year, Accra VO were the ones processing study visas applications for Nigerian Applicants. Afterwards in March 2018, IRCC now handed over the power to Kenya and London VO. In September 2018, Kenya VO was officially crowned the prime visa office to be in charge of all temporary resident visas coming from Nigeria.

I hope this info helps. Feel free to ask me anything, and I'll answer them accordingly.

All the best
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 8:48am On Oct 01, 2019
What about Ghana immigration officers?

Frankrobbn1:
The OP might have gone for upfront medicals which certainly after submission will be declared and updated as PASSED. However, there are situations whereby applicants receive a medical request from IRCC and at end of day, their application were rejected. Thus, there is nothing that gurantees VISA when it comes to Kenya Immigration Officers.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 8:30am On Oct 01, 2019
This new trend of refusal after medical passed is really disheartening o. Sorry man, you'll get them with the next one

DBlessedofGod:
Sadly I got my refusal this night
Submitted 9th August
Medical passed 13th August
Biometrics 14th August
Bvl 30th of September
Refusal mail 30th of September

The wait was more killing than the refusal lolzzzz
I don't think I can take the trauma again.

Am glad the lessons learned from the gurus at least reduced the number of reason to just financial.

Thanks all
Oga Frank I still hail you any day any time.

True that

Congratulations...

Mehnn, can't wait to hear someone shout "APPROVAL" again. These streets are suddenly so depressing, everyday a fresh refusal and no approvals for a while now. What could possibly be going on? It's not encouraging at all mehn
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 8:30am On Sep 27, 2019
Here we deal with facts and figures. The only thing confirmed for refusals is the rampant use of illegal documents. Seeking asylum and immigrating are 2 different things. Anyone who studies in Canada already has a very high chance of staying back if they want to so there's absolutely no need to seek asylum.

Did your friend also happen to disclose his/her legitimate source of this information?

A friend of mine just told the that they have discovered most Nigeria student use student visa as an avenue to seek asylum in their country that's the high refusal rate for Nigerians be it college or university that it only takes the grace of God to scale through.... Nawa

My personal opinion, I don't think you have to start showing residency permit now that you are out. Just supply the necessary documents with supporting documents. The study permit will suffice

AyoitsMub:
I am now in Nigeria. Currently doing my NYSC.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 4:38pm On Sep 24, 2019
Are you still in Ghana or have you gone back to 9ja?

AyoitsMub:
Hello Nairalanders,

I have a question regarding study permit application.
I schooled in Ghana where, international students are recommended to have residence permit. However, I only did it in my first year and I failed to renew for the following years of study (due to financial constraints).
Although, I never stayed more than 3months (90days) at a go and if I did, I always paid for my overstay.
Will this be an issue during my applications?
It's urgent please.

You are nice, you really replied again.

It is not about me but people that keep asking u, most of us knows that most schools bears the province name. Like my Sch is MUN of Newfoundland located in Newfoundland.
But the question they ask is so simple with simple answer, instead of u redirecting or assuming in ur mind that they should know.
What will it cost u to type, “it’s located in/at Saskatchewan”

I said to the best of my knowledge, then someone who had 10 years experience in dealing with embassies went ahead to buttress my point further. Calm

justwise:
[b]

What are you on about? You went to banking school to study embassy and bank business relationship?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 12:35am On Sep 16, 2019
Sir I went to banking school, even though I nor finally work for bank, to the best of my knowledge the bank will not disclose your current closing balance to the embassy, only confirm what was printed in the statement since you printed it and gave it to them.

From what I see, the only way the embassy can get your current closing balance is if they suspect that the money was put there just for show and they request an updated bank statement.

This is why it's still good for people to leave the money there or even add to it until they have been approved and received their passports.

justwise:
I have but how do you know that the person is a banker or know jack about embassy-bank channel of communication?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 6:15pm On Sep 13, 2019
At the court they usually have their own format of affidavit, you will just state the exact scope of the sponsorship and the time frame. The letter is a more detailed explanation of why the sponsorship.

Zzzz1234:
Please can someone help with a sample affidavit of sponsorship ?

I’m confused between the affidavit of sponsorship and letter of sponsorship, I know the affidavit is the one to be stamped by a notary, but what will be the content ?

Feels like the two documents will basically be repeating themselves

I know I'm going to share my testimony soon, and this looked like what I was going to write. Congrats again.

pojupoju:
Hi everyone on this forum.
I have been following this thread since I found out about it barely 2 months ago.
I am here to share the goodness of the Lord God Almighty and to all those who keep this space active and educative.

I don't want to write a thesis here but feel I must share some information I think will help someone to be encouraged their application process.

I applied for my student permit in June 2019 and got my approval and visa by end of August 2019
To prepare for this, I read all of the part 15 and 16 thread on Canadian Student Visa on Nairaland up to the time I finally submitted my application. This was very helpful especially considering the list of documents that I had initially intended to submit.... that would have been woefully inadequate.
The forum taught me the following:

No two applications are the same.

Diligence in preparing your application is absolutely necessary or your reject awaits you.
Do your own research as well as cross check every information you pickup from this forum.
I got information about cheap student travel fares which I didn't know about

My profile goes like this.
I have 4 visa rejects that date back years ago.
2 from Canadian student permit application
2 from another European country
The above were declared in my application

Over the years I managed to improve my travel history by visiting the US and other European countries

Statistics provide information for decision making so I did some homework to realize the following about visa approvals.

Nigeria had 18% approval rate in 2018.
Applications to Colleges have 50% approval rates.
Applications to Universities have 80% approval rates
Applications to the highly industrialized provinces have 80-90% approval rates whereas applications to cheaper provinces like Saskachewan etc
Applications to study at PhD levels have higher approval rates followed by masters, Bachelors then Diploma respectively.

(i will provide my sources when required... don't know if its not permitted here to drop web links etc)

The above is very useful information to enable you navigate towards choices that improve your approval rate.

SOP I believe is one of the most important things in your application. Please take time to write your SOP and possibly have others look through it for you. I took close to 7 weeks to put together my SOP because I needed to deal with every uncertainty possible that could flaw my application. Some may be wondering why so long. I applied to begin school in Jan 2020 to give me enough time for any uncertainty.

I applied to do a Diploma in a course which is unrelated whatsoever to my previous study area.
From a country with low approval rate
I chose a Province with low approval rate
Also I am in the middle of my career so am a much older person compared to the typical prospective foreign student.

I fully paid my fees for the year as well as accommodation for the year
had more than 10,000 Canadian dollars in my bank account for my upkeep for the year

The rest was my total dependence on God to see me through. The Almighty demonstrated his love and mercy and all went well.
My little advice to prospective applicants is to start early, don't be in a rush as if someone is chasing you out of the country. If you don't have the right profile now, take time to develop that profile so that you don't leave any chances for a rejection.

Thanks and God help us all.
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 1:01am On Sep 13, 2019
Naturally, it depends on your school fees. Will 7 million be enough to pay your first year school fees + 10k CAD for upkeep?

GodBigT:
Hello house, I have a question.. Please I need replies

Is NGN 7million enough to present on the statement of account I’ll be using to apply for my study permit?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 3:01pm On Sep 12, 2019
You can print it. I assume you are making a paper application?

Kjoy:
Good day guys.

My sponsor sent me the scanned copy of her bank reference letter. Can I print it in coloured and attach to the SOA?? Or must I get her hard copy.

Thanks
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 2:33pm On Sep 12, 2019
Gbam. You have said it all

Blema111:
When it comes to visa application, our subconscious tells us we can’t do it ourselves to avoid fatal mistakes when applying.

I also sought for assistance when applying and was told a ridiculous fee. I asked myself, am I not a graduate? Everyone have the innate ability to write. I wrote it and used grammerly premium, then gave it to three people not on this platform- someone who studied my course, someone who studied a course very different from mine and a neutral person to make sense of it and got the feedback I wanted.

I won’t castigate those attaching fees to it because it takes work to write a good sop. It’s not easy to write one. Instead of castigating them, simply write one yourself and give friends or enemies to read. Everything in life isn’t free abeg.

If you can afford, good. If you can’t, equally good.

Blema111:

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 9:35am On Sep 10, 2019
As far as I know, You don't need an international passport for admission, except your school specifically asks for it for reasons unbeknownst to us. But you should apply for it, seeing as it is crucial to your visa application in the future

Juliette3Ken:
I have another question.
Do I have to have an Imternational Passport before applying for admission?
Can't I apply after submitting my application
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by benque: 9:33am On Sep 10, 2019
Hola, good morning. How's uWin treating you so far?

Blema111:
I don’t know who told you that but it’s false. You need an admission first in order to apply for visa/study permit. For the English exam, most schools don’t require it since our lang of instruction is English.
