You need to focus on linking what you are doing now to what you intend to study, most especially its importance and how relevant it is in your country. The SOP is the right place to do that. Nice, thanks for updating us. We also want to see stuff like this to keep our morales high. Wishing you the best of times in Canada. Regina3: Hi guys, been a silent reader here following all your advice, been a big source of encouragement & reference for me. I got my approval yesterday.
First Application. Applied online : June 22, 2019 Biometrics: June 26, 2019 Medical: July 17, 2019 Passed: July 20, 2019 Approval/Correspondence :August 1, 2019
Just want to say, I was really worried as all the documents I submitted for proof of financial ability were much and after managing to compress to 3.9MB, the documents didn't look to sharp, I thought that it would be an issue but I thank God, for favour. I will suggest if you are having same challenges as I did, you can use CamScanner on Android play store, I found out about it after submitting mine with poor resolutions. Thanks.
Update: Passport Request : August 5, 2019 Submitted: August 6, 2019 Passport return : August 16, 2019

Thank you all. |

First of all it's good that you are not deterred. Have you ordered GCMs? What is the whole school fees? From the reasons they gave, you should try to get some home ties, maybe prepare a deed of transfer for some land(S) from your parents Second you should work on your sop in order to convince them your purpose of visit is genuine. Still make sure you order the GCMs and wait for the real gurus to chime in holllowu: Please am open to suggestions. |

We can already classify this your information as not necessarily true because during summer, processing time increases for other countries too. This year even India complained. At a point it was 3 weeks for Ghana, right now it's 6 5454Darese: The increase in processing time is usually due to excessive verification of documents due to ‘fraud’ If they were not carrying out too much verification on Nigeria applications even if they have millions of applications they could still process them swiftly. Hence we can conclude it’s due to fraudulent documents detected in the past by ircc. Too many applications is another factor but not the major. |

So sorry to hear about this bro. Delay is not denial, at least they didn't drag the decision, you have time to review and reapply and then get your approval before Jan. We go still meet for there for Jan sure bennyg24: Good day nairaland fam, please I need help from gurus here, just got a refusal and the 3 reasons where: 1. Insufficient funds to pay tuition for my the duration of my proposed program. 2. Insufficient funds to pay transportation cost to and from Canada for myself and any accompanying family member. 3. Insufficient funds to maintain myself without working in Canada. I never knew this refusal can be so disheartening, gosh! Submitted online 17th July for MEng civil engineering, had a BEng in civil engineering with 2 years experience(self employed with CAC registration). Tuition fee for entire program is 30k CAD (I already Paid 4k CAD tuition deposit) Sponsor is elder brother with account balance covering entire tuition plus living expenses for a year. I did not include my personal account statement as at time of application due to a very low balance and inflow. Could it be just my account that is the problem? PLEASE WHAT MAY BE WRONG WITH MY APPLICATION? SOMEBODY HELP! I NEED UR URGENT AND EXPERIENCED SUGGESTIONS. Thanks |

Nope, I read what he said and it doesn't look like what you said. waynee2baba: Lol bruv that wasn't your point, you're derailing. Your initial point wasn't regarding people that tender applications close to their resumption date. Ofc they would get rejected. Your point was that people that are still expecting a reply (like June/July applicants) with their resumption dates close are likely to be refused. The aforementioned sets of people are not the same. |

She asked as regards student visa application. Don’t think it’s everyone that want to go there and have money like the people you mentioned above. It’s not only about money. If she decides to stay back after the studies is really not your concern. Just stick to the question she asked which is as regards visa application. |

Especially when you aren't answering a question Bede2u: ur elder sister in canada is telling u dont come to canada...wat are u asking us again? Who knows both u and canada better than her?
U are earning 500k in a sure job....wat do u think abroad is? A place where bad thing never happen? Where no one can die by mistake? Where money is picked on the road? Bruh
Let me ask u. Lets say dangote ran away to u.k like his mates were doing in the 70s instead of joining the hustle in lagos...do u think he would be better off now?
We all need to change how we view the world. Its not easy anywhere. Nigeria may not be great but many nigerians who traveled abroad became stranded and had to come back with nothing |

It's really appalling. Someone was wrong, now a mob has formed against her and are steady on her case for a few pages now. Meanwhile I asked a valid question back there and no one could answer, instead they want to curse and attack. Pitiful mcobex: This thread was created for helping one and another, not to bring each other down and make mockery of each other. We are all unique in our own way and that's what makes us special. I don't want to say who is at fault or who isn't, but please let's focus on what this thread was created for(which is helping each other). This back and forth name calling and disregard for each other won't take us anywhere, please let's not full the pages with things that aren't relevant to the issues at hand. Na God I take beg all of us. @justwise take note as well, you have the power to also delete posts that aren't related to what we are discussing (even if na my post). |

This is apt. At this point I feel like she's being treated poorly. Because even people she didn't mention are all jumping on her comments. Please guys let's focus, if it doesn't add value, subtract it from this thread because it's not cool when you read 3 pages of nothing but back and forth. victorsol: I believe we are more matured than this. Everyone is entitled to his ot her opinions. To me I don't see anything wrong in whatever she has said, if you are not okay with her reply, then kindly ignore. She gave me a reply one time, I was not comfortable with it and kindly moved on. You don't need to give reply to everyone that steps on your toes. I have followed her from the time she replied me and I discovered that that's her nature and you can't come and change her here. she is straight and you can be straight too. If you are not comfortable with it, then move on, afterall her post is not the only post here. Hundreds of people are on the group and if we all decide to reply to everyone that step on toes or someone's else toe, the group would have turned to something else.
Pls let's mind our business and accommodate people for who they are. I don't know her from Adam but if we want to be sincere with ourselves and go back to reas all her post, I think she is straight even though she makes error.
and if we are to correct, let's correct in love. this world is too small oooooo. |

Happy to have you back on here. Sorry to hear about the stuff you are having a hard time with. I am certain you'll find your feet quickly and make your way around it. I'm liking the sound of Montreal sha sillysassysally: Hi Everyone,
I want to start by sincerely apologizing for going MIA since I got here. Life happened so fast and it didn't help that I didn't have a laptop. I have only just started settling down after all the hassle.
Landing gist... It was pretty straightforward and didn't take time. The only question I remember the border official asking me was which school I was going to and what program. Then, of course, I was asked to show my correspondence letter and CAQ.
Canada... I am currently attending McGill University so I'm quite comfortable speaking about Montreal. 1. French everywhere! I was so surprised - even my youtube ads changed to french! Better to start learning french to optimize your experience but if you don't speak French, it's still fine because most people are bilingual. 2. Beautiful city... people say its the best city to jaiye in Canada because things are always happening! I think last week was about Real Madrid (they are in Canada for a tour), then the week before that was jazz festival week... Needless to say, its a really fun city!
Myths people have about Canada 1. People tend to believe that once they leave Naija, they'll begin to live their best lives... It's not really true - especially if you don't have money. Since I got here, I've actually battled depression because my school work is so tedious, i don't even think I'll be able to work part-time to cover my living expenses. If you are doing a one-year program, it's possible that your schedule would be as rigorous because for most masters in Canada, its usually two years so you can imagine the "rushing" they do for one-year programs. So with no time to work, and with steady expenses, you can imagine the stress I've been going through just merely thinking about my situation. Here's my advice to those planning to come to Canada, if you cannot afford living expenses and you plan to work part-time to cover your living costs, please do a two-year program. That way, you'll have more time to spare to work and it'll be reasonable for you to work and still have enough time to commit to your academics. 2. Taxes here in Montreal are a freaking 15%! I bought my laptop and paid taxes of $114! Needless to say, buy your laptop before coming.
Things i'm grateful i did before coming here 1. I'm grateful I packed garri, indomie, etc because when you come here, expenses and bills would hit you like a hurricane - especially in the first few weeks where you have to start paying for a phone plan, rent, bus pass, feeding, etc. Im grateful for the many things i didn't have to buy because i already brought them from Nigeria - I even carried toothpaste, cream, perfume, etc. Once you come here, you'll have a lot of expenses to make that you'd be super grateful if you already have some little things sorted out.
I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has for me.
Goodluck to all TRV hopefuls, University admission hopefuls and GRE/GMAT hopefuls |
