If a man intends getting married,he should know that his basic responsibility to his woman is to provide, protect and procreate!
A woman must also know that her basic responsibility is to serve and respect her man while maintaining the home!
If you know you cannot do these basic requirements, just stay away from marriage!

This will actually solve half of our security problems!

No sir,

Buhari SIGNED THE AMENDED CONSTITUTION meaning he accented that the constitution should be amended.

Now Tinubu has actually signed the bill (not constitution) to allow state do the task.

Now the state will now individually sign their own bill on how to go about it.
Sir you are confusing yourself with the use of legislative terms!
Buhari signed the amended electricity law!

In other words, electricity was under the control of the FG through the national grid!
After the law was amended in 2023 through the signing of Buhari, the control is now UNDER the authority of the states!

If you say Tinubu signed a bill into law...what is the name of the bill?
If it's electricity bill, then that has already been signed by Buhari in 2023 and any other electricity bill that is identical to what was sign by Buhari is tantamount to repetition which I believe is Tinubu trying to take credit for what Buhari did!

aribisala0:
You are trying to confuse people
The only thing Tinubu did was Generate via Enron
Enron generated 270 MW
There was no law stopping him and he did that
This happened at the Egbin Thermal plant in Lagos

It was NOT INDEPENDENT

The electricity went to the National Grid

That is where Tinubu's plan fell apart he wanted to to keep the electricity in Lagos State and he could not The electricity was shared by the FG

So what exactly is your point
You are most definitely the one confusing yourself with your disjointed and uncoordinated comments!

The intention of Tinubu was not just to generate a power plant but to distribute to Lagos citizens which wasn't possible as there was an existing law that only authorized FG to provide electricity through the national grid which Tinubu was fully aware of as he was once a former senator!

Hence, there was no reason for Tinubu to persuade Obasanjo as that power lied in the legislative arm of government not the executive that Obasanjo belonged to!

aribisala0:
You argue that
He is overwhelmed and trying to pass electricity to the states

But that is not true you are even contradicting yourself with Buharis's legislation

If this has been in the works under Buhari how does that square with your argument that THE THING PASS AM

You are just bitter and spiteful
This must be the most disjointed comment I have ever read!
You were either drunk when you typed this or you were on drugs!

aribisala0:
Let me explain what happened at Egbin

There are gas pipelines fron the Niger Delta that end at Egbin which is the biggest plant in Nigeria

Enron was brought there with the consent of the FG

They brought in their turbines and connected to the same gas to generate 270 Megawatts. This happened in short time. 270 Megawatts is no joke Kainji is 750.

You have nothing sensible to say
😄😄
Please what are you actually saying?

Well atleast in all your uncoordinated comments, you have admitted that it wasn't the position of Obasanjo to alter the constitution as that authority is vested in the national assembly!
Hence Tinubu was at best grandstanding when he brought a generating plant that didn't serve it's purpose until Buhari altered the electricity act in 2023!

You are bitter and hateful

You need sides to have meaning in your life

Tinubu is not my paymaster
If He was I would be proud.
My record on this forum show where I stand on him

This issue is for me not about Tinubu just facts

Tinubu did not build an independent plant

That is why I asked you to inform yourself

Stop making noise

Enron was operating At the same location where the NEPA plant in Egbin was .

There was no way they could have done that without Federal government consent

Stop making noise go and find out what actually happened

It was generating power alongside NEPA and that was going to the National grid. Under the rules at the time that was Okay

ENRON WAS GENERATING 270 Megawatts of Power IN EGBIN
Repeat Egbin. why is that important. It was INSIDE A NEPA PLANT

Tinubu then tried to persuade Obasanjo to take it to the next level with legislation which had actually been informally agreed by that time they had fallen out and it could not happen

Enron was also involved in a scandal and had financial difficulties

So my point in summary is when Tinubu was governor he had articulated this vision and taken steps

That was in response to

No even when he was governor he had always been aligned in that direction
This was a response a replied...hope you remember?
When Tinubu was governor he tried to generate power in Lagos state. He brought in a company called ENRON and Obasanjo did everything to frustrate it.
This was my response...
Why would Tinubu do an independent power system knowing fully well that there was an existing law stopping him from providing power to his citizens then?[/b]
That's simply grandstanding!
Obasanjo didn't stop him!
The 1999 constitution then where electricity law was on the exclusive list stopped him!
Now this was now your ignorant response showing you actually have no idea what you are saying ...
There was no law stopping him doing what he did so research
If there was no law stopping Tinubu, why was he unable to generate, transmit and distribute to Lagos residents?

Your final response...
Tinubu then tried to persuade Obasanjo to take it to the next level with legislation which had actually been informally agreed by that time they had fallen out and it could not happen
Why should Tinubu persuade Obasanjo to take the next level of legislation?
Was Obasanjo a senator or represented the legislative arm of government?😃

Nairaland sef

After all the prevarication, you just admitted that it wasn't the job of Obasanjo to alter the electricity act but the legislative arm of government!

Finally,it's not hard to know a die hard apc supporter!

AI Overview

Yes, President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Electricity Act into law, which allows Nigerian states to generate, transmit, and distribute electricity within their respective territories, even within the national grid. This act essentially decentralizes the electricity sector, giving states greater autonomy in power generation and distribution.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
Constitutional Amendment:

The act amends the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, specifically altering the Concurrent Legislative List to grant states the power to legislate on electricity matters.

State Powers:
This means states can now make laws regarding electricity generation, transmission, and distribution within their borders.

National Grid:
The amendment allows states to operate within the national grid system, which was previously a federal domain.

Potential Benefits:
This decentralization is intended to create a more dynamic electricity market, potentially leading to increased investment, job creation, and improved access to electricity, particularly in rural areas.

Regulatory Framework:
While states have more power, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) still plays a role in regulating the electricity industry.

Impact on Consumers:
The planned increase in electricity tariffs could impact consumers, but the increased competition and access to electricity might also lead to more affordable and reliable power.
So why did Tinubu need to sign the same electricity act twice?
Is he trying to take credit for what Buhari had already done?
Politics › Re: Tinubu Signs Bill Granting States Full Control Over Electricity by bentenny(m): 3:22pm On Jun 28, 2025
otherway:
Buhari signed the amended bill but Tinubu has now signed into law the actual bill to finally allow states 100% control.

Now the last step is for the states to actually pass the state laws governing transmission, Generation and distribution.

This is what the governmt should have done since 1960.

Gradually, Nigeria is getting it right in terms of stable electricity
What you just implied is that what Tinubu signed into law is no different from what Buhari did in 2023 where the amended act gave states the authority or licence to generate, transmit and distribute electricity!
This is simply a duplicated electricity act and an attempt to take the shine or credit from Buhari!

Tinubu should concentrate on state policing, resource control, electoral reforms....

Inform yourself before you talk
🤣🤣
You are actually the ignorant one here!

As at the time, your paymaster Tinubu built his glamorous IPP, electricity law was under the exclusive list!
In other words, there was already an existing law in the 1999 constitution that stopped states from generating, transmitting and distributing electricity!

What was obtainable as at the time Tinubu build the independent plant was a national grid controlled by the FG!
Tinubu was governor from 1999-2007 in case you have forgot!

This act was later amended in 2023 when former president Buhari signed the electricity bill to an act making states to have the authority to generate, transmit and distribute electricity to their domain!

It was this new act by the former president that enabled abia state to start generating, transmitting and distributing to the abia residents using the gas turbine that the former president GEJ had built and commissioned during his regime!
Before that, the abia state turbine was connected to the national grid not to the abia residents!

These days, there is no point arguing when there are available mediums to verify such!

What we should presently be anticipating from the president is the signing of the decentralization and autonomy of the policing system.

Full autonomy of the electoral system.

Resource control

Decentralization of ports!

Removal of the authority of the president to select and appoint the CJN.

Full autonomy of the LGA chairmen!

What I see is just a duplication!

Most Nigerians know nothing about macro-economics reforms to enhance their long term socio-economic prospect. All they know is that garri and transport fee cost more. They aren't aware life for them, could be about so much more as others are enjoying worldwide, and as Tinubu wishes to deliver for them.

To them the leader who has caused rise in garri price and transport cost is strictly a failure. Yet how can that be true also for me, you and all properly educated and exposed Nigerians who know how badly off Nigerians are in direct comparison to their peers globally and how/why the reforms it will take to close the massive gap must bring initial hardship?
Stop typing unnecessary and basseless epistles and do what you were asked to justify your illogical opinions!
