Why you nor go rob bank. Citizens needs to change their attitude for things to work smoothly. Security personnels are human beings just like government officials. I am not holding out for them, they have messed up big time but when things like this happen. It's the citizens that suffer it. That branch of the bank may not open for business in the next 6 months. Who suffers it? Government is not encouraging but that doesn't mean we should inherit their frustration. |

Car Talk › Re: What Is The Law On Overtaking Police Convoy? Was I Wrong? by Benwallt(m): 3:16pm On Dec 13, 2023 |
Kelvin30286063: On Wednesday 6th of December, I was driving my family from Ondo to Akure to launch a new business.
We plan to start the event at 12 and it was already past 11am so I was rushing. Along Akure road, I saw this three police convoy going in front but they were not very fast.
I have a really fast car so I was like, I should overtake them and be on my way, I flashed the last pickup with about 3 policemen at the back but they didn't make any reaction and didn't gesture for me to go.
The road ahead of us was long and free, no incoming vehicles so I saw it as an opportunity.
After flashing twice again and no response, I decided to overtake all three pickup vehicles quickly so I switched to sport mode and decided to use my pedal shifter to go faster.
As soon as I revved and started overtaking them, they went crazy and started driving zig-zag on the road leaving me absolutely no room to go.
At the end they ran me into the nearly bush and parked me off. One of them decided to use their vehicles to intentionally brush my car while parking me off the road. They all came down, almost 20 of them and started shooting in the air.
They started shouting come down from this car! Hitting my car everywhere with fist and hitting my glass with the tail of their guns. Somehow my window didn't break even after they hit them 5 or 6 times. (Respect to Acura on that)
One of them pointed his gun at my vehicle and was about to shoot. I roll down my glass and started begging them.
My wife was sitting in front with me and my 2 year old daughter was sitting at the back in the hand of a friend we took along with us to act as MC for the occasion.
My wife quickly collected my daughter from the guy and held her to her chest cos she was already panicking and crying.
I think that was what saved our live cos as soon as they saw my daughter, somehow they calm down a little and started trying to drag me out of the car.
I vehemently refused to go down cos I know I will be beaten or even shot. After a few minutes of acting upset, shooting in the air, one of them that was fat and looks like their leader came down from the middle van.
That was the first time I noticed that the middle van was actually covered at the back which means they may be carrying something. They didn't use a bullion van so there was no indication that they were moving money and they didn't use siren either.
Long story short, the big guy that looked like the boss came to me and said why did I overtake them.
I explained that we were in a hurry and I flashed a few times before I attempted to overtake them and I also saw that the road was clear.
He looked at me, looked at my wife, looked at my crying daughter and looked at the guy at the back then asked me to come down that nothing will happen to me, I took my company's ID card and my guy at the back and I came down.
He checked the ID and said don't do that again. The others were shouting he must follow us to the station bla bla bla but he was calm.
Eventually they let us go.
They damaged the bumper of my vehicle in the process.
I know I was in the wrong by overtaking them without anyone gesturing that I can go but seriously, WHAT IS THE RULE TO THAT? Especially on highway, with a wider road and not within the city.
I had to apologise to my family later cos I know it was a traumatic experience for them and I accepted my fault but I'm still confused on how I was wrong. The road was straight, long, clear of incoming vehicles and I flashed and horned.
Are we expected to follow convoy from wherever we see them to where ever they are going even if they are driving at 80km per hr? LND 200 HR. Be security wise |

Thank you for your feedback. Don’t you think it is fallacious for you to say this, given the abundance of documentary evidence that disproves your claims? And would you not think this is a bit too much, especially as many of your followers tend to be overly sensitive and accuse others of hating them?
I am Itsekiri. We know our history. In writing. Not oral history. Itsekiris are one of the few peoples in the geographical location now called Nigeria who can trace, in writing, our ancestry for the last 500 years.
For example, the oldest letter written by a person from the geographical location now known as Nigeria was written by my ancestor, Ogiame Oyenakpagha, to Pope Clement X in 1652, requesting for additional Catholic Christian priests for the Iwere Kingdom. That letter is preserved to date in The Vatican.
What were your ancestors doing in 1652?
Another of my ancestors, Ogiame Atuwatse I, the 7th Olu of Iwere, was the first West African, and possibly the first sub-Saharan African, to graduate from a university. He graduated in 1611. I have a photograph of the school he attended. He was the father of Ogiame Oyenakpagha.
What were your ancestors doing in 1652?
Though I am not too proud of it, my ancestors sold certain people, and we have written receipts, one of which is in a museum in the Caribbeans. How can you say people who have receipts from over a century ago documenting their sale of **** people do not know their history?
As for the Yorubas, it is odd that you should say such a thing. Please Google this query:
‘When did Christianity get to Igbo land.’
Christianity got to our beloved Igbo brothers and sisters in the year 1857. Please research it yourself. Before 1857, there was no knowledge of Christianity in Igboland.
Now, who brought Christianity to Igboland? It was not the British directly. Christianity was introduced to Igboland by Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther in the year 1857, and he wrote about it in his books.
He first attempted in 1854-55 and could only get one convert. He wrote about that in his book, ‘Journal of an Expedition Up the Niger and Tshadda Rivers, ‘ published in 1855.
He was more successful later in 1857 and wrote about his experiences converting the Igbos to Christianity in his book, ‘The Gospel on the Banks of the Niger: Journals and Notices of the Native Missionaries Accompanying the Niger Expedition of 1857-1859′.
Now, let me quote Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther
“When we arrived Onitsha, we found the people in a state of idleness, with its attendant evils. They were scantily and filthily clothed’.
I don’t want to quote more because if I do, some people may insult me. But I have a copy of this book and can mail it to you. You can also order it on Amazon.
But note that Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther founded ‘Mission House’ from where he and his converts preached the Gospel to the Igbos.
Additionally, Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther was the first man in history to write a book in Igbo and about the Igbo language. He learnt how to speak Igbo and codified the language in his book, ‘Vocabulary of the Ibo Language’, published in 1882.
So, when you insult me and the Yorubas as people who have no history, I laugh. If you say the people who brought Christianity to Igbo land have no history, then what are you saying about yourself?
In the British Museum are the one thousand-year-old Ife Bronzes showing Yoruba people fully clothed and riding horses.
What were your ancestors doing in one thousand years ago?
Thanks again, and may God bless you.

Thank you for your feedback. Actually, you can pass on your message without insults. Since Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu claimed Igbos met much of Lagos as a swamp and developed it into what it is, have you seen me use insulting words in my responses? To the best of my ability, I have always been polite.
So why not return the courtesy? Don’t you think it shows low emotional intelligence if you have to insult to pass on your points?
There is no pharmaceutical firm named glaco. If I hazard a guess, I would wager that you are referring to GlaxoSmithKline. I don’t know if you read their report. I did. GlaxoSmithKline is changing its business model because Nigeria’s markets are flooded with fake and substandard medicines imported into Nigeria by unpatriotic Nigerians.
For example, their most sold medication is Panadol. Some Nigerians import chalk made into tablet form, and market it as Panadol. Others import deliberately reduced paracetamol. Others even manufacture fake lifesaving medicines, like Ventolin inhalers, knowing full well that the people who consume them will perish. Where else on Earth will you find such wickedness? Wickedness not to foreigners, but to your own people.
This is suffocating genuine manufacturers like GlaxoSmithKline and others. That is part of why they are leaving because it is increasingly difficult to operate under those conditions.
If I begin to mention those who are behind these fake and substandard drugs, you may start insulting me again. So, let me just let sleeping dogs lie.
Thanks again, and may God bless you.

The eastern Region projected to catch up with western region by 1970 it accepted it was below western region
There is no shame in starting late Even in the eastern Region ijaws and efik started before others
Never truly accepted the white man till the 1920s ... We are not ashamed of it
Some few Igbo society have had advanced history but not the whole Igbo land
But we are not ashamed of starting late
Today Igbo are at least as educated as yorubas if not more educated
If you think this is an insult then try again I am a Yoruba and a reasonable Yoruba man will agree with all you said. Honestly, we Yorubas are retrogressing in every ramifications. Back then up till early 2000s, if ten students scored A parallel in WAEC you will be sure 9 would be Yorubas but now it's history. If such happened now, one is sure at least 6 will be Igbos and a Yoruba will manage to secure one spot on the list. Igbos are no longer what they used to be. The have evolved exponentially and they are really succeeding in pushing Yorubas to the back. I don't know what the cause is. We Yorubas seem to be losing it on the altar of politics while abandoning what really matters. Igbos have held on tightly to what they are know for-trade while breaking new grounds. Yorubas are losing it all on the altar of dragging political positions. Yorubas need reorientation now before it's too late |
