Visit Here For More News That Will Interest YouA Catechist, his wife and five others were at the weekend reportedly killed by suspected armed herdsmen in three separate attacks on Governor Samuel Ortom’s village and other communities in Guma Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state. SOURCEIt was gathered that the marauders invasion of Tse-Ortom, Hirnyam and Semaka communities in an unprovoked attack left several persons injured.
According to a source in the area who spoke on condition of anonymity, one of the victims was killed at Tse-Ortom, two in Semaka, while four others who included the Catechist of St. Peter Catholic Church, Hirnyam and his wife were murdered by the invaders in Hirnyam village.
He said, “in their usual pattern, the herdsmen shot the victims in the three separate attacks on Friday and after killing them, they also use cutlasses to cut them like animals. Among the victims was a Catechist, his wife, one other woman and four others.”
Contacted, the Chairman of Guma LGA, Mr. Mike Uba who confirmed the killing of the seven described it as sad and unfortunate.
Speaking through the Security Secretary of the Local Government Council, Mr. Christopher Waku, he said seven persons lost their lives in the three separate attacks in three communities.
He said “four persons died in the attack in Hirnyam; a Catechist, Dominic Dajo, his wife and two others.
“In fact, he was in his house ironing his clothes to attend Mass, when he heard gunshots, he came out and was even telling someone that they, gunmen, had killed two people already not knowing it was also going to be his own death.
“While they were in the house, the wife rushed out and she was killed. He attempted to run away but they also killed him.
“Again one woman from Ortom village was killed and, two persons were killed in Semaka village, making it seven.”
The Chairman explained that at the time of the attacks he could not reach the police on time as the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of the LGA had been transfered and he was yet to get the phone number of the new DPO.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent, SP, Catherine Anene, said she was yet to receive details of the attacks. |

Psychology: Definition Of ProjectionProjection in psychology is defined as the process of displacing one’s feelings or actions onto a different person. The term is most commonly used to describe defensive projection—attributing one’s own unacceptable urges or actions to another. Before, during, and after this (s)election, we witnessed, and are still witnessing, examples of projection from Tinubu's supporters-- the mob. One of the examples of projection is the accusation that the Labour Party's presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, brought religion into the election, but, in reality, it was their candidate who did when him and his imams declared holy war (jihad) against non-muslims. Another is the accusation that Mr. Peter Obi paid CAN to direct Christians to vote for him, but, in reality, it was their candidate who did with Sheikhs and imams. Or the accusation that other candidates rigged too, because they know that their own candidate rigged. This too is an example of projection. Or the accusation that other people are playing politics of hate, and calling them "children of hate", but, in reality, they are the ones attacking, shooting, and injuring people who reject their candidates. This too is an example of projection. |

Visit Here For More News That Will Interest YouSouthern Kaduna: 518 killed, 18 villages razed in 6yrs SOURCEThe people of Southern Kaduna, under the aegis of Atyap Community Development Association, ACDA, have, again, expressed deep worry over the persistent attacks and killings in Atyapland in the Zangon Kataff Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
They also faulted the recent security report presented by the sector commander of Operation Safe Haven in the area.
Speaking at a briefing in Samaru Kataf, yesterday, after a peaceful protest, the President of ACDA, Samuel Achi, said the persistent attacks on his people had led to the death of many kinsmen and women, while even children were not spared by the suspected killer herdsmen.
He said: “It is with regret that we are addressing Nigerians and the international community at large, on the persistent and recurring attacks and killings in some communities of Atyapland in Zangon Kataf Local Government of Kaduna State by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen, who have enjoyed decades of peaceful coexistence with our communities but have now set out on a mission to displace these communities and take over our lands.
“It is regrettable to state for the records that defenceless communities in Atyapland have been suffering selective killings since 2017, before the sustained attacks by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen in 2020.
”Recently, Atyapland has dominated the headlines for the wrong reasons, following renewed attacks in Ungwan Wakili, Lagson, Atakjei and Runji, where 70 people have been killed, including a five-year-old boy, who was beheaded.
”At the last count, 20 villages have been ransacked, 18 villages burnt down, while 518 people have been killed, with thousands of victims who have taken refuge across many communities from 2017 till date.
“The military personnel drafted to provide security in the area are not helping matters. Instead of performing their primary assignment of securing the lives and property of the communities, they are selective by taking sides with the suspected herdsmen.
”This is evident in the 2023 first quarter security report presented to the Kaduna State government by the Sector Commander, Operation Safe Haven in Southern Kaduna, Brigadier General Timothy Opurum, on the recent killings in Atyap land.
“In his doctored submission, the sector commander gave an unbalanced, lopsided report and was very economical with facts which prompted the governor to note with concern the continued failure of the traditional and community leaders in Zangon Kataf chiefdom to prevent the mayhem and resort to self-help by recalcitrant youths.
“For the avoidance of doubt and to put things in proper perspectives, we hereby straighten the records on some of the issues he raised.
”The Sector Commander, Brig Gen. Opurum, deliberately failed, neglected and refused to highlight the contributions of the traditional council in Atyap land towards maintaining peace in the chiefdom, which facts are known to him and other security agencies in the area.
”The report did not convey the positive role played so far by the traditional council and other community leaders in checkmating the conflicts.”
“These contributions include visiting all homes of victims of attacks and killings in Atyap land, sponsoring conferences, workshops on peaceful co-existence for Atyap, Hausa and Fulani youth, women and security operatives in Atyap land with the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, international and national peace advocates like Dr Salim Musa, Barr. Pricilla Ankut to mention but a few, is in full attendance.
”Others include co-operation with Kaduna State Peace Commission on several peace advocacy missions to Atyap, Hausa and Fulani youth and women groups in Atyap land, ensuring the permanent removal of all roadblocks by youth in Atyap land; the setting up and funding of the Atyap Chiefdom Peace, Security and Partnership Committee made up of Atyap, Hausa and Fulani youth and women; provision of logistic and human support to operatives of Operation Safe Havens, Police and State Security Service etc.
“In fact, the governor of Kaduna State had on many occasions, commended the Agwatyap for these bold and practical actions towards maintaining peace in Atyap land. We were taken aback when we heard his comment after the sector commander’s report.
“Brig. Gen. Opurum deliberately refused to see and state the known facts that the influx of many dangerous lawless suspected Fulani terrorists into Zangon Kataf Urban Hausa settlement and their attendant criminal activities in the last three years is responsible for the brutal attacks on mostly innocent and defenceless women and children in Atyap villages.
“It is a known fact among security agencies in our Atyap land that most attacks on our villages and people are planned and coordinated by these suspected Fulani terrorists in Zangon Kataf Urban Hausa settlement.” |

Visit Here For More News That Will Interest You"Non—Arabs who without shame, called themselves Muslims are just plain Converts whom are lowly cowards with unhonourable souls, that were overwhelmed with ease by the Swords of Allah, thus they deserved to be called as our Dogs." --Saudi author Muhammad al-Arifi Before Sudan split into two countries, Sudan and South Sudan, the Muslim Arabs in the north for decades would routinely raid the villages of black Africans, both Christians and Muslims, in the south.
The worst atrocities were conducted by the Arab militias known as the Janja.weed, who carried on a campaign against black Africans in the region of Darfur, burning down villages, stealing cattle, raping women, and killing men. Not a single Arab state condemned the Janja.weed or offered to send troops to protect the black Africans. The United States was alone in condemning the Janja.weed killings as genocide in October 2007, since in the three previous years, an estimated 200,000-400,000 black civilians had been killed.
The South Sudan gained independence in 2011, after a referendum on self-determination in which its people voted overwhelmingly to secede from Sudan. Independence was the culmination of a long armed struggle waged by South Sudanese, starting in the mid 1950s. During those years of fighting, the northern Arabs enslaved tens of thousands of the black Africans they took prisoner. Even today there are thousands of blacks still enslaved in Sudan by Arab "masters".
The Arab slave trade in Africa began centuries before, and lasted centuries after, the Atlantic Slave Trade. And it claimed many more victims: studies suggest there were around 10 million Africans taken in the Atlantic Slave Trade, while the Arabs seized 17 million Africans (more than 80 million died, only about 17 million survived) for transfer to the slave entrepots of the Middle East.
Slavery in the Islamic world was finally stamped out not by the Muslims themselves, but by the pressure from Western powers. For in Islam, slavery was always regarded as acceptable. For founder of islam himself, the so-called perfect man (al-insan al-kamil ) and the Model of Conduct (uswa hasana ), bought, sold, and owned slaves. So slavery was, thanks to his excellent example, a practice Muslims accepted.
There never was a Muslim William Wilberforce. Thanks to the Royal Navy, Great Britain in the 19th century ended the Arab slave trade in Africa, but the millions of slaves already in the Muslim lands remained. Then the two main European powers, France and Great Britain, beginning in the late 19th century to stamp out, in most of North Africa and the Middle East, the practice of slavery.
Several Arab countries held out. It was not until 1962 that Saudi Arabia and Yemen officially ended the enslavement of Blacks, and unofficially, the practice continued for some years after 1962 in the interior of Saudi Arabia. Slavery was ended in Oman in 1970, and finally, the last country to outlaw it was Mauritania, in 1981. But Arabs, or people who claimed to be Arabs because they were “less black” than black Africans, continue to enslave to this day black Africans in Mauritania (600,000), in Mali (200,000), in Niger (43,000), and in Sudan (15,000).
The latest manifestation of the Arab racism that undergirded the slave trade is again on view in North Africa, where Arab leaders have suddenly spread the alarm about the black Africans in their midst who, they claim, are engaged in the “Great Replacement” of the native Arabs.
On February 21, the Tunisian president Kais Saied denounced what he said was a “plot to transform the demographic makeup of the country” and called for strict measures to prevent it from succeeding. Since then, black Africans in Tunisia have been living in fear, and many, who have neither passports nor money, have been trying to leave the country. The Tunisian police have begun raiding the shabby dormitories of the Africans, throwing them out on the street. The police have taken to visiting the farms and construction sites where some of the Africans find employment at pitiful wages; the police round them up and take them away, warning employers not to re-employ them.
The current xenophobia directed at Africans in the Maghreb is rooted in Arab racism. That racism goes back to the earliest centuries of Islam. With slavery having been sanctioned by the example of Muhammad, Muslim Arab slavers entered east Africa to seize black Africans, the men to be workers, the women to be domestic servants and sex slaves, and the young boys to serve as eunuchs in the harems of the Islamic world. These boys were castrated in situ, with many dying during the painful surgery or during the long march, in slave coffles, to the coast, where the Africans would be taken by dhows from Pemba, across the Red Sea, to Arabia and the slave markets of Islam.
David Livingston, the celebrated explorer, and missionary, described encountering some of the victims of the Arab slavers. He was deeply upset by the way the Arabs treated their African slaves that he wrote back home in 1870:
In less time than I take to talk about it, these unfortunate creatures [the Africans]— 84 of them, wended their way into the village where we were. Some of them, the eldest, were women from 20 to 22 years of age, and there were youths from 18 to 19, but the large majority was made up of boys and girls from 7 years to 14 or 15 years of age.
A more terrible scene than these men, women and children, I do not think I ever came across. To say that they were emaciated would not give you an idea of what human beings can undergo under certain circumstances.
Each of them had his neck in a large forked stick, weighing from 30 to 40 pounds, and five or six feet long, cut with a fork at the end of it where the branches of a tree spread out.
The women were tethered with bark thongs, which are, of all things, the most cruel to be tied with. Of course they are soft and supple when first stripped off the trees, but a few hours in the sun make them about as hard as the iron round packing-cases. The little children were fastened by thongs to their mothers.
As we passed along the path which these slaves had travelled, I was shown a spot in the bushes where a poor woman the day before, unable to keep on the march, and likely to hinder it, was cut down by the axe of one of these slave drivers.
We went on further and were shown a place where a child lay. It had been recently born, and its mother was unable to carry it from debility and exhaustion; so the slave trader had taken this little infant by its feet and dashed its brains out against one of the trees and thrown it in there. By the ninth century, there were enough black slaves in Iraq to mount a serious slave revolt, the Zanj Rebellion, which lasted for fifteen years before being put down.
The black African slaves known as the Zanj had been put to backbreaking work draining the salt marshes of Basra. Some were worked to death. Savagely mistreated, they rose in revolt against the Abbasid Caliphate in 868, a revolt that was not extinguished until 883, when mass executions of the remaining rebels took place.
The Arabs regarded the black Africans with contempt. In the Hadith of al-Bukhari, we find the remarkable statement that “Anyone who says that the Prophet is black should be killed.” Elsewhere in the Hadith the false prophet-- the founder of Islam-- says “’Whoever wants to see Satan let him take a look at Nabtal b. al-Harith!’ He was a sturdy black man with long flowing hair, inflamed eyes, and dark ruddy cheeks.”
In the same vein, the false Prophet sent Khalid bin al-Walid in Ramadan 8 A.H., to a spot called Nakhlah, “where there was a goddess called Al-‘Uzza venerated by the Quraish and Kinanah . . . On his return, the Prophet asked him if he had seen anything there, to which Khalid gave a negative answer . . . He went back again and there he saw a black woman, naked with torn hair. Khalid struck her with his sword into two parts. He returned and narrated the story to the Prophet, who then confirmed the fulfillment of the task.”
Sa’d bin Zaid Al-Ashhali, another follower of the false prophet, was sent in the same month and on the same mission to Al-Mushallal to destroy an idol, Manat, respected by both the Al-Aws and Al-Khazraj tribes. Here also a black woman, naked with messy hair appeared, wailing and beating on her chest. Sa’d immediately killed her.
Clearly the false prophet was not at all bothered by these two unprovoked murders by his followers of “black women.” He greeted the news from one of the killers as being part of the “fulfillment of his task” – the task assigned to him by the false prophet.
And there is this from the celebrated historian Al-Tabari: “Noah prayed that the hair of Ham’s descendants (Africans are described as descendants of Ham) would not grow beyond their ears, and that whenever his [Ham’s] descendants met Shem’s, the latter would enslave them.” (Al-Tabari, Vol. 2, p. 21, p. 21)
Why was it so terrible for the false Prophet to be called “black”? Because for the Arabs, blacks were unquestionably inferior. Such misidentification, according to Ahmad ibn Abi Sulayman, was an insult to the Prophet, and deserved death. And blacks, as descendants of Ham, (according to the stupid revelation received by the false prophet), were fit only to be slaves.
Many of the most famous Arab writers and Islamic scholars were unambiguously “racists” in the full meaning of that word. Ibn Khaldun (1332–1406) was, among other things, an Islamic jurist, Islamic lawyer, Islamic scholar, Islamic theologian, and hafiz (one who has memorized the entire Qur’an). He is one of the most important figures in Islamic history. Here are two disparaging remarks, among so many that he makes about black Africans in his Muqaddimah:
Therefore, the Negro nation are, as a rule, submissive to slavery, because [Negroes] have little [that is essentially] human and have attributes that are quite similar to those of dumb animals, as we have stated.”
Beyond [known peoples of black West Africa] to the south there is no civilization in the proper sense. There are only humans who are closer to dumb animals than to rational beings. They live in thickets and caves, and eat herbs and unprepared grain. They frequently eat each other. They cannot be considered human beings . Ibn Sina or Avicenna (980-1037), was another celebrated figure in Islamic history: a Hafiz, an Islamic psychologist, scholar, and theologian and, by our lights, a racist:
“[Blacks are] people who are by their very nature slaves.” Ibn Qutaybah (828-889), was a renowned Islamic scholar from Kufa, Iraq:
“[Blacks] are ugly and misshapen, because they live in a hot country.” Nasīr al-Dīn al-Tūsī (1201-1274), was a Shia Muslim Scholar and Grand Ayatollah:
If (all types of men) are taken, from the first, and one placed after another, like the Negro from Zanzibar, in the Southern-most countries, the Negro does not differ from an animal in anything except the fact that his hands have been lifted from the earth – In no other peculiarity or property – except for what God wished. Many have seen that the ape is more capable of being trained than the Negro, and more intelligent.
[The Zanj (African) differ from animals only in that] their two hands are lifted above the ground,… Many have observed that the ape is more teachable and more intelligent than the Zanj. Al-Muqaddasi (945/946-1000) was a medieval Muslim geographer:
Of the neighbors of the Bujja, Al-Muqaddasi had heard that “there is no marriage among them; the child does not know his father, and they eat people — but God knows best. As for the Zanj, they are people of black color, flat noses, kinky hair, and little understanding or intelligence.” [Kitab al-Bad’ wah-tarikh, vol.4] Al-Masudi (896-956), was a Muslim historian and geographer, known as the “Herodotus of the Arabs”:
“Galen says that merriment dominates the black man because of his defective brain, whence also the weakness of his intelligence.” (Al-Masudi, Muruj al-dhahab) Ibn al-Faqih was a Muslim historian and geographer:
“A man of discernment said: The people of Iraq … do not come out with something between blonde, buff and blanched coloring, such as the infants dropped from the wombs of the women of the Slavs (White People) and others of similar light complexion; nor are they overdone in the womb until they are burned, so that the child comes out something between black, murky, malodorous, stinking, and crinkly-haired, with uneven limbs, deficient minds, and depraved passions, such as the Zanj, the Somali, and other blacks who resemble them. The Iraqis are neither half-baked dough nor burned crust but between the two.” (from his Mukhtasar Kitab al-Buldan, 903 AD) These are just a tiny sample of the hair-raising racist remarks made by noted figures in Islamic intellectual history.
Given that racist disparagement of blacks that runs through the Hadith, it’s not surprising that Arabs today are determined to keep them out of, or expel them from, North Africa. Now the fear of being overrun by blacks has gone from Tunisia westward to Libya and Algeria. Black Africans who came to Libya in order to take a boat to Europe, but lacked the money to pay the smugglers, have ended up stranded in the country. They have taken the most difficult menial jobs with the lowest pay, barely enough to survive. In Libya, some black Africans, when unable to pay debts they owed to Arabs, have been put up for sale at informal slave markets that have sprung up in the country. This should be a major story in the Afircan media, but so far none of the important news outlets have bothered to cover it.
In Algeria, both the police and the army have been rounding up black Africans at their dormitories or wherever they work or simply hang out, and have been taking them out into the desert, and leaving them just over the border in Niger, where the border guards have been instructed not to let them back into Algeria. Whether they live or die in Niger is of no concern to the Algerians.
Like the Arabs of Tunisia, Libya, and Morocco, the Arabs of Algeria refer to the black Africans as “abid” – “slaves” – and address individual blacks not by name but simply as “abd.-- it is also sometimes spelt as "abeed".
But Tunisia remains the center of the anti-black hysteria. The “Nationalist Party” has been filling the airwaves and the social media with rants about black Africans, whipping up hatred.
When President Saied warned in virulent terms about the demographic conquest by Africans of his country, he was furthering a discourse that had already begun over the last year, but his speech has been viewed as the launching pad for a new struggle against African immigration, with arrests, expulsions from lodging, loss of jobs, and unprovoked attacks by gangs of Tunisian Arabs on black Africans.
Now some of those black Africans have managed to be repatriated to their countries of origin, including Mali, Senegal, the Ivory Coast, and Guinea. Others have been planting themselves in front of the Tunisian offices of the International Organization For Migrations (OIM), in a vain hope for obtaining that organization’s aid. And some Africans have decided to try their luck sooner than they had planned, paying as best they can the human traffickers – also Arabs – to take them across the Mediterranean in rickety little boats, many of which have capsized and their passengers drowned. Every day brings news of fresh drownings, and boats that never made it to the port on Lampedusa. But the black Africans are desperate.
The racist attacks, both verbal and physical, against black Africans continue to increase across North Africa, but especially in Tunisia, where President Saied appeared to give such behavior his stamp of approval.
Tunisians have been gleefully joining in the hunt for Africans, who have realized they have no future in the country. They are now attempting either to make it back home, which means somehow safely crossing the desert to the countries of West Africa where most of them come from, or to cross the Mediterranean in unseaworthy boats to Lampedusa in Italy, before being arrested and then expelled by being brought to the border and left on the other side, in Niger or Chad, to fend for themselves in the inhospitable desert. |

Alfred Alabo, spokesman for the Plateau State Command, confirmed the attacks in response to Morning Star News inquires.
“I can confirm these attacks and want to say that security personnel have been deployed to ensure normalcy is restored in the affected communities,” Alabo said.
Makut Macham, spokesman for the office of the Plateau state governor, also recognized the attacks.
“These attacks are another attempt to reintroduce the era of violence and crises which have been largely contained due to the government’s huge investment in security, peace building and reconciliation,” Macha said. “While commiserating with those who lost their lives and properties, the governor directed the Peace Building Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency to immediately reach out to the victims with support.” |

Visit Here For More News That Will Interest YouA husband allegedly burnt his estranged wife alive in a case of so-called ''honour killing'' while another woman came under acid attack after being raped in Punjab province of Pakistan, police said on Wednesday. SOURCEIn the first incident, suspect Tariq allegedly burnt his 40-year-old wife Shazia for what he called ''disgracing the family's honour'' in Cheechawatni district, some 209 kms from Lahore, on Tuesday, police said.
Police official Ejaz Aslam said that Shazia had left Tariq a year ago after developing differences over domestic issues and started living with her parents' house. Aslam said Tariq suspected that Shazia had relations with a man of his locality and on Tuesday he visited his in-laws and doused Shazia with petrol and set her ablaze and fled.
She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. She has left behind two daughters and four sons.
Police registered a case against Tariq and arrested him.
In a separate incident, two men threw acid on a married woman after raping her in Okara district, some 130kms from Lahore, on Tuesday.
Police officer Jahanzeb Wattoo said that main suspect Rizwan wanted to develop relations with Shahida Bibi, 30, but she refused.
On Tuesday, Rizwan along with his accomplice abducted her at gun point on her way to home and raped her at a deserted place. The suspects later threw acid on her face.
The woman was taken to hospital where her condition is stated to be out of danger. Police have registered a case against the suspects.
Hundreds of women are killed every year in different parts of Pakistan in the name of honour.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has reported an average of 650 honour killings annually over the past decade. But since most go unreported, the real number is likely to be much higher. |

Visit Here For More News That Will Interest You Islamic terrorists killed a pastor in northeast Nigeria, and terrorists in the country’s middle belt state of Benue killed 134 Christians the first week of April, sources said. Most Christians slain were women and children, and thousands of the displaced are living in camps, Pastor Anza said. SOURCEThe Rev. Yakubu Shuaibu of the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria (EYN) was killed in Borno state by terrorists from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) who on the night of April 4 broke into his house in Madlau, Biu County, said EYN leader Salamatu Billi.
They also shot and wounded his pregnant wife, who was receiving treatment at Biu General Hospital in Biu town, Billi said. The pastor is also survived by another child.
Pastor Shuaibu’s body was buried in his hometown of Dzangwala, Gombi County, Adamawa state, Billi said. The couple began work in the area with the EYN church four years ago.
“Please let us all pray for his wife’s recovery, for God to comfort his entire family, and for the church of God and ministers of the church working in the danger zones of Borno and Adamawa states,” Billi said. “The hunt for Christians, especially ministers serving in the church, by terrorists in northeast Nigeria continues. This is the third EYN pastor to be killed in cold blood within a short time by these terrorists.”
ISWAP also attacked predominantly Christian Njimtilo, Pulka and Ajiri Mafa villages at the same time the pastor was slain, said area resident Josephine Joseph.
“During the attacks, the terrorists destroyed houses of Christians and looted their homes of food items,” Joseph said.
In Benue state, in Nigeria’s middle belt, Fulani herdsmen killed 134 Christians from April 2 to April 10, said Benue Gov. Samuel Ortom in a press statement.
“Within one week, 134 Christians have been killed by herdsmen,” he said. “This apart from the fact that of the 23 local government areas of the state, 18 of them have been ravaged by herdsmen attacks, and most Christians in these council areas displaced.”
The herdsmen attacked the local government areas of Makurdi, Guma, Otukpo, Apa and Logo, area residents told Morning Star News in text messages. They also attacked Kwande County, said area resident Dominic Anza, president of the Universal Reformed Christian Church (NKST).
“Armed Fulani herdsmen have been attacking our Christian communities for years, but recently, these attacks became so intense that hardly any day passes without a community being attacked,” Pastor Anza said. “My village of Turan in Kwande Local Government Area was also attacked by these Fulani herdsmen, and many Christians in my village killed."
Christians affected in the areas are mostly members of the NKST, the Roman Catholic Church, the Methodist Church and Pentecostal churches, and they are now unable to hold worship services, he said.
“My family’s house been burned down by the herdsmen, and all my relations have been displaced,” Pastor Anza said. “It’s impossible for me to even attempt to visit my village, because these herdsmen have completely taken over the affected communities.”
Most Christians slain were women and children, and thousands of the displaced are living in camps, he said.
“They’re not even safe there, as within this period, these camps have also been attacked and many Christians killed,” Pastor Anza said.
Herdsmen attacked a facility housing displaced Christians in Ngban village, Guma County, on April 7 at about 10 p.m., killing 38 Christians and wounding 36 others, said community leader Dennis Shemberga. Catherine Anene, spokesperson for the Benue State Command, confirmed the attack on displaced Christians at the Ngban village camp.
Armed herdsmen invaded predominantly Christian Umogidi village, Otukpo County, on April 5, killing 52 Christians, a council official told Morning Star News. |

Visit Here For More News That Will Interest YouA Christian widow and a Muslim gardener were arrested in Pakistan this month on blasphemy charges after they were accused of intentionally burning papers containing koranic verses, attorneys said. SOURCEThe accusations arose when 46-year-old Mussarat Bibi and the Muslim, Muhammad Sarmad, were cleaning the storeroom of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in 66-EB village, Arifwala tehsil of Pakpattan District, Punjab Province on April 15, attorney Javed Sahotra said.
“Both workers were told to clean the storeroom that was filled with paper and other scrapped items,” Sahotra said. “It has been alleged that they gathered the wasted paper and other scrap in a corner of the school and set them on fire. Some students later noticed that the burnt items also contained holy pages.”
School staff members, including principal Nasreen Saeed, were aware that Bibi and Sarmad had not burned Koranic pages intentionally; under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws, intent must be proven, Sahotra said. Some students and teachers protested, but the principal and senior staff members tried to quell the protests.
On Wednesday (April 19), a local Muslim named Kashif Nadeem called a police helpline and accused the Christian woman of committing blasphemy by burning koranic pages at the girls’ school. Nadeem named only the Christian woman, but police found the gardener was also involved in setting the pages on fire, according to the First Information Report (FIR).
“The complainant also gathered a mob outside the school and started protesting against the incident,” Sahotra told Morning Star News. “Even though the school principal and other teachers told the police that Mussarat and Sarmad had not burned the pages intentionally as both were illiterate, the police arrested them to avoid unrest by the protesters.”
Attorney Lazar Allah Rakha, who also represents the impoverished Christian woman, told Morning Star News that police charged both Bibi and Sarmad under Section 295-B of the blasphemy statutes and sent them to Pakpattan jail on judicial remand. Section 295-B states, “Whoever willfully defiles, damages or desecrates a copy of the Koran or of an extract therefrom or uses it in any derogatory manner or for any unlawful purpose shall be punishable with imprisonment for life.”
“Mussarat is innocent as she had no knowledge that the scrap material she and the gardener were destroying contained holy pages,” Rakha said.
The FIR filed on the complaint of a police officer states that the issue was brought to their attention on Wednesday (April 19), four days after the alleged incident, he said.
“It is unfortunate that despite knowing the fact that both workers were illiterate and had not committed the act intentionally, the police still arrested and charged them with blasphemy,” Rakha said. “We are very hopeful that the court will allow Mussarat’s release on bail and will also consider dropping the serious charge against her, because there was clearly no intent to commit any sort of blasphemy.”
Bibi has three daughters, two married, while the youngest is 14 and lives with her mother. Bibi’s husband, Barkat Masih, had worked as a teacher in the same school, and after his death five years ago, the institution hired her as an office worker in accordance with government service rules.
“She couldn’t be employed as a teacher because she was illiterate,” Sahotra said. “We are also in contact with some influential Muslims of the area and are hoping to solve the matter with their support. There is no imminent security risk to other Christian families that live in the village, as a majority of the people know that both Mussarat and the Muslim gardener have not burned the holy pages intentionally.”
The two lawyers said they would file a bail application this week, as previously courts were closed due to Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Foreigner Charged The case comes two days after a Chinese engineer working on a dam project in northern Pakistan was arrested and imprisoned in a rare case of a foreigner being swept up in Pakistan’s harsh blasphemy laws.
The Chinese national, identified only as Tian, was on a field visit at the Dasu hydropower project, led by Chinese construction and engineering company Gezhouba Group, on April 16 when Muslim workers accused him of making blasphemous remarks and gestures against Allah and Muhammad, the prophet of Islam.
Reports said that Tian had allegedly complained to workers at the dam that “precious time” was being lost due to prayer breaks, which enraged some of them, and they fanned out to nearby villages, whipping up emotions. Within minutes, a frenzied crowd blocked the main highway and threatened to storm the power project unless the Chinese engineer was arrested.
Though police and government officials tried to placate the protesters, the mob calmed down only after they were assured that the foreigner would be charged with blasphemy. A case was filed against the Chinese engineer under Section 295-C, which calls for the death sentence for insulting Muhammad, and Section 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
He was sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand by an anti-terrorism court in Abbottabad on April 17.
The Chinese engineer told the court that he was innocent and had been entrapped in the blasphemy charges because he had asked Muslim workers not to delay work on the pretext that they were fasting, according to media reports.
Blasphemy of Muhammad is punishable by death in Pakistan, though no executions have ever been carried out.
In December 2021, a Sri Lankan factory manager in Sialkot, in eastern Pakistan, was beaten to death and set ablaze by a mob that accused him of blasphemy.
Rights groups say hundreds of people are languishing in prison accused of blasphemy as judges delay trials, fearing retribution against themselves. |
