I agree.

Interest rate cannot be lower than inflation. Imagine pension funds investing at 18% yield while inflation is over 30%. It erodes the real value of the savings of pensioners.

Politics / Re: CBN Raises Interest Rate (MPR) To 22.75% by Bevista: 3:30pm On Feb 27
Fairly bold move by CBN.
---
The interest rate was too low compared to inflation resulting in a negative yield on bonds. Government cannot be borrowing at such a low rate while causing huge inflation on the masses. It encourages financial rascality.
---
The negative yield was partly why many investors preferred to preserve their funds in USD resulting in the significant depreciation of the naira.

Let's hope the fiscal side (Wale Edun & Co) begin to act responsibly.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Iceland's PM, Katrin To Joins Strike, Demands Equality Pay For Women by Bevista: 12:15pm On Oct 24, 2023
Homologous:
Bunch of jokers.

It's not about equality of pay, it's about the nature and distribution of the population and their intrinsic qualities and traits embedded in their DNA. By research, women score high on agreeableness while men tend to score low on agreeableness, additionally, men are known to be high on conscientiousness while it's low for women. Those who posses the measurable quantities as men earn higher as they tend to negotiate better.

Finally, some of the most dangerous jobs are done by men, high paying professions such as engineering and IT are crowded by men. You hardly see women who are genuinely interested in this professions - and if you do, they get paid on the same level as men, and in some other cases paid better; these women posses the afformentooned traits in men this is in addition to their other exceptional qualities.

The worst mistake the Netherlands made was to push their female towards the traditional profession mostly dominant by men. Please read more on this and you'll understand. Iceland should learn from them.

I'm one breadth, the president reminds us that the sector is deregulated, in another, he tells us that pms price will not be increased. Does the president have price-fixing power in a deregulated market?

Also, we're told that consumption has dropped from 67m to 46m. How much of that is due to corruption & smuggling and how much is due to the fact that people are now buying less fuel for their cars & generators?

Since we're operating a free market economy, why not let market forces determine price? Government is running away from subsidizing citizens but they are trying to force private companies to subsidize citizens. The hypocrisy stinks!

Politics / Re: Will The Unification Of The Exchange Rate Further Affect Fuel Price? by Bevista: 5:17am On Jun 15, 2023
CodeTemplar:
Yes it will.

The inability of govt to prevent roundtrip of dollar from old official rate window where serious businessmen got good bargain to keep production cost down into leisurely and luxurious import based sector led to the lazy decision of collapsing both rates into one.
I agree that the removal of subsidy was the easier option for government instead of addressing the corruption around the subsidy. What this suggests is that, it is difficult to trust the government to prevent or deal with corruption that may arise from the management of the removed subsidy funds.
Politics / Will The Unification Of The Exchange Rate Further Affect Fuel Price? by Bevista: 1:51am On Jun 15, 2023
I have been thinking about the possibility that the new FX regime might lead to a further increase in the pump price of PMS in the country.

As it were, we have no idea of the exchange rate the NNPCL used as at the time they came up with their most recent price list. If they had used the official exchange rate at the time, which was around N465/$, then having to import fuel at the new rate of N700/$ (or whatever it will be) will surely lead to a significant jump in the pump price of pms.

However, I can remember that the President's first meeting was with the GMD of NNPCL and the CBN Governor. There is a possibility that, in that meeting, they might have discussed the issue of the unification of FX rates and then come up with a band which the new rate might likely be in the short term. If this were to be the case, then it is possible that the NNPCL GMD might have used this new band in fixing the pump price. If that were to be true, then there's nothing to fear about higher pump prices, but this is purely conjectures/speculative and may completely be false, in which case I would anticipate a new higher price list from the NNPCL soon.

The CBN has been subsidizing FX for a few people, while the rest of us continued to access FX at the parallel market. So, good riddance! However, I think the poor masses are in for a really terrible economic shock in the short-term from all these 'noble' policies. If those managing the affairs of the country have used the little national wealth to create relative prosperity for the people, then the economic shock wouldn't be as severe.

Then the FG will announce that after an intense ‘discussion’ with Labour, a compromise has been reached, and the new pump price of Petrol is 320 Naira per liter.

Then the fuel subsidy scam will continue.
The problem is that no one knows what the true unsubsidized price of petrol should be. We are only working with whatever figures the NNPCL is offering. I have read somewhere that the real price should be around N350. But then, until we know the landing cost & distribution cost and also the exchange rate the NNPCL is using, everything still seems like a sham.

NNPCL is still the sole importer of the product. Whatever price they fix is what others will work. That's not how free markets and competition works.

If you have a major infection and there's a general consensus that it is best for you to go through surgery to remove the infection, will the doctor not provide you with anesthesia and other pre-surgery care before the surgery? You will still be provided with after-surgery care for some time. All these is done to help you deal with the pains of the surgery.

Regardless of how necessary and urgent the surgery is, if the proper patient care (before and after) is not administered, you risk unintended consequences that could worsen the patient's condition. No doctor does surgery first and give anesthesia after.

This post is not about surgery!

Romance / Re: Reality Every Guy Need To Know ( STRICTLY REDPILL) ... by Bevista: 3:26pm On Jan 20, 2022
African26:
RED PILL is an intersexual power dynamic instrument that reminds men to remain masculine.

It is a compass that redirects you back to your manly path in case you veer off the track.

It reconnects you to your masculine purpose and catapults you to your higher purpose in life as a man.

RED PILL exists to unplug you from the feminine matrix that has taken over in our society.

RED PILL guides you on how to navigate the geography of masculinity and how to cut through the hidden veils of feminine psychology.

It calibrates you into a stoic man who is in control of his emotions, thoughts and actions.

It reminds you about your honour and dignity. It enforces self-discipline into your life.

RED PILL commands you to have daily moments of self-evaluation to monitor your progress in life as a man.

Therefore RED PILL is about masculine self-consciousness.

RED PILL is not about hating women but understanding how to avoid plugging into damaged women who eventually damage your masculine dream.

RED PILL is not about blaming women but it is about identifying important choices in life and living a life of honour, dignity and discipline.

RED PILL enforces authority in your life. It asks you to refuse to put women at the centre of your purpose. Women hate men who are always pedestalizing them.

Only put your PURPOSE on the pedestal. A woman follows you because of the PURPOSE on your pedestal.

The reason why we fail in relationships or marriages, the reason why we fail to handle women, is that we put them at the centre of our lives until we forget our own reason for living. This is called SIMPING.

RED PILL reminds you that you are a man of abundance and therefore if one relationship fails, there is a better one coming.

RED PILL does not want you to suffer the consequences of oneitis. It wants you to be an authoritative man who runs his kingdom with glamour and candour.

RED PILL is saying, "It is your KINGDOM. Own it."

The men who are trolling this masculine consciousness are men living in denial. They are men living hurtful lives. They are men dating damaged women and therefore lack the courage to get out.

These men are hurting. They, therefore, express their pain by being angry at men who have managed to break from the effeminate bondage.

They are fat, therefore they hate lean men.

They masturbate, therefore they hate men with an abundance of sex from women.

They are broke, therefore they hate men who have broken free from financial slavery.

They are in a sad marriage, therefore they hate men who are reaping the benefits of 4Ps in marriages.

These are women in men's framework. Their souls are conflicted. Their emotions are scattered. Their purpose is lost.

These are lonely men. That's why they orbit around women or end up as white knights. They fear living alone because they have no purpose that drives their lives. Therefore, they pick any woman to give them company. - and end up depressed, angry, fat and violent.

These men need the RED PILL. That's why we are hard on them. They need to change or they will perish.

- and every man needs the RED PILL to firmly remain in his purpose without being distracted by sluts, and hedonistic lifestyles.

The philosophy of RED PILL is Discipline, Order and Competence.

porka:
Joe Biden's policy against hydrocarbons in favour of green energy will have devastating effects on the Nigerian economy. The IOCs will be severely disincentivized to make investments in exploration in new fields. With no income from oil sales, governments will be unable to fuffil their financial obligations as and when due. This will lead to increase in poverty. Poverty and hunger will lead to more social unrests.
Thank goodness you brought this up. Many folks have no clue about the economic effects a Biden presidency will have on Nigeria. Their twin bash of PANDEMIC and CLIMATE CHANGE will have devastating consequences on the country.

Surely, there are deeper structural issues that need addressing across they entire spectrum of the Nigerian society.

#ENDSARS is just one of our typical ways of trying to deal with the symptoms rather than attend to the disease itself. Yes, SARS is in the spotlight atm (and rightly so), but if we were to xray other segments of the society, we'd find an equal amount of rot and abuse of office.

GamalNasser:
As long as Buharis incompetence keeps the Naira unstable there is no way international price of crude will be the only parameters that affect the cost of petrol in Nigeria ... The recent increase came as a result of failing Naira and not international crude price ...as I predicted last that the Naira will slide by today and now it's has , automatically Buhari has to resume payment of secret subsidy for the next shipment of Petrol coming or he increases the pump price again ..

The only way out of this is either we get competent leader if we want to keep importing petrol or we we fix our refineries ..
Naira will always depreciate whenever there's a fall in oil prices, except we can have alternative means of earning USD outside oil.

As per the point Atiku raised, government may argue that the reason why current pump prices is not lower than what was obtainable in 2019 is because the 2019 price was subsidized and the current one is not. Dunno if that's a valid argument or not.

Since when did you start showing such empathy for those that lost a loved one?

We've seen mass graves in Benue, Kaduna, Kogi, Borno etc resulting from the atrocities of Herdsmen & Boko Haram. Are those lives less valuable than those taken by Covid-19? Where was the national response? Where was the persistent media coverage?

Some people think because they are not elderly or immunocompromised therefore they are 100% healthy but that reasoning is fatally flawed. Someone could have underlying health conditions without even knowing. Besides, why should the elderly or immunocompromised allowed to die if it can be preventable? Would you be happy if your elderly grandma dies as a result of covid? Or if a diabetic person you know die due to covid complications? If they have to die, let them die at their appointed time not because of covid.
I agree completely that all preventable deaths should be prevented. But why are you lot so desperate to prevent only Covid-19 deaths?

The government allows Boko Haram and Herdsmen to slaughter 1000s of citizens every year. More than 100k maternal mortalities every year, more than 50k road accident deaths every year, I can go on and on. Malnutrition and poor access to proper medical care kills millions every year. Does these other lives not matter?

The globalists, through their media propaganda machines, have succeeded in brainwashing you lot to think that covid-19 is the worst thing to befall humanity. A virus with a 98% recovery rate and less than 0.2% case fatality rate.

I repeat, if this is about public health and saving lives, the government has more important issues to worry about.

Nigeria has conducted less than 250k tests so far for a population of 200M and you're here bathing in mediocrity.
UK at it's height of testing was less than hundreds shy of 100,000 tests per day.
Na basic statistics and sampling issue be this
Stop trying to be clever by half. More tests will only increase the number of cases but will not increase the number of deaths.

And let's not even start with the acclaimed Covid-19 deaths cos if comorbifity issues are addressed, the real number of Covid-19 deaths will go down significantly.

If there was no corona virus or if there was a way to stop it, that less than that 1k Nigerians as you said would probably have been alive today. These are people's mother, father, sisters, brothers, children, breadwinners. They are not just mere statistics. It could be you tomorrow but i pray it shall never get to you. Probably you do not know anyone who has died due to covid, i know someone who could have been alive today if not for covid. He was bouncing and okay as at July 1st but he is no more today. How do you think his family he left behind is feeling?

Let us also not forget why covid 19 is a problem. It is a problem because it is capable of making large number of people sick at the same time thereby overwhelming current hospital capacities and health care workers. What is means is that even people with other health conditions, pregnant women needing emergencies etc may not be able to see a bed space when needed in the peak of the crisis so they also are in danger plus the fact that they can also contract the disease if they hospital is filled with covid patients. If covid could only sicken say 30 people in a month, nobody would have seen it as a problem as health care systems will handle it.

So what is being fought is not just the covid but to ensure that health care system is not overrun and put others who do not have covid but will need health care system in danger.

Or maybe you want people to keep dying of corona virus after all malaria and accident also kill more people? Why would we allow more avenues of death rather than reducing the avenues people could die. Are we then making the world a more dangerous place or trying to make it better? Just think about it for a second
You probably missed my point. I was in no way trying to trivialize the Covid-19 deaths.

My point is - why are you so interested in stopping those 1000 Covid-19 deaths but show absolutely no concern whatsoever for the 60k road accident deaths? The reality is - the only reason you rank Covid-19 deaths higher is because the media wants you to...not because it is truly more important. They even tell you to wear a face mask just to create a mass consciousness. You happily wear that nonsense despite the obvious health implications of breathing recycled Co2. Go read about Respiratory Acidosis.
