I detest pastors because they are a deplorable scamming bunch. However, on this subject, I stand 100% with pastor Chris.

The entire global response to the Covid-19 pandemic has been cleverly & deviously orchestrated to achieve a single objective -ID2020. The vaccines is just their medium for achieving that. I'm not say this because the pastor said so. I was already aware of this for several weeks, and so was impressed to hear the pastor speak on the subject with such fine details.

If you're interested, you can watch the documentary - "Obsolote". You can also watch - "We're Living in 12 Monkeys". I'll also share a link to an interview with David Icke. Just keep an open mind while watching them. And if I may also add, you can watch the movie - "Contagion".

Do you think the lockdown is done because the government loves its citizens? I'll tell you what - according to the CDC/WHO website, over 500k people die every year from smoking. Globally, that figure is around 6m annually. Why have governments around the world not banned tobacco companies? In Nigeria, every year, over 30k people die from road accidents, over 50k die from malaria, over 40k maternal mortality rates. I can go on and on. Why have the Nigerian govt never considered any of those a national emergency but we now chose to lock everyone at home because 2 people died from Corona Virus? Go figure!

Its difficult to disagree on this. Looks like Africa is showing more resistance than was anticipated....with the developed countries being hit much harder than Africa. Wouldn't surprise me if a stronger, deadlier strain of the virus suddenly shows up on the continent.

At this point, my conspiracy theory brain is on red alert. For starters, any Vaccine is a big fat capital NO for me.

Still wondering why we are referred to as 3rd world countries in this part of the world?

E get why.
Referring to us as 3rd world is actually complimentary and an insult to other 3rd world countries. We should be in the category of 5th world. In fact, we do not deserve civilization. We should still be stuck in the caves. If with the whole globalization and how easy to see how things are done in other climes, we still still behave this way, then something is chronically wrong with our DNA.

“The Nigeria Economy Group-led private sector has said it is not going to give a penny to the task force; it says it will only raise the money and ask us what our needs are,” he explained. Mohammed said that the task force had already compiled the needs. “We have asked for more equipment and facilities, especially for those who might test positive to the virus.
If the above was the case, then that would really be a good thing, since those parasites in govt cannot be trusted to properly utilize public funds.

However, it's difficult to believe whatever this government says, most especially when it comes from this pathological liar. Is he saying that all those who made donations actually came together as a group to tell the govt this?

I agree, but the message in my comment is still valid. The common man is "servicing" the debt that was borrowed and diverted into the private accounts of government officials.

@TheDarkHorse1993 photo you posted. It's clear that any relief package distribution is done merely to score cheap political points, not because the care about the health and welfare of the citizens. Else, why would they risk the lives of the citizens by getting them to gather in that manner just to receive a paltry "gift" that won't last 2 days.

You tell people to stay at home because you don't want them to contract or spread the Covid-19 virus, yet you bring them to gather and actually spread it. One can't really find a more stupid set of leaders.
Politics / Re: Wike Lifts Curfew On Parts Of Port Harcourt, Recalls Suspended Chairman by Bevista: 9:26am On Apr 03, 2020
First, how does a state governor suspend an elected local government chairman? Just imagine the outrage if the President "suspended" an elected governor. These governors actually do have narcissistic and authoritarian tendencies.

Secondly, the lock down implemented in Nigeria is so poorly thought out...which is evident in how they keep backtracking every 2 days. Expect more relaxing of the lockdowns as the hard realities and unintended consequences begin to kick in.

The common man is now repaying the debt that was borrowed and diverted into the accounts of government officials.

For those who may ask me how the common man is the ones paying, kindly note that the money used for repayment is PUBLIC FUNDS meant for citizens welfare and infrastructure development.

A full-option ventilator cost around $20,000. 100 units will cost around $2m. Using an exchange rate of N400/$, that's around N800m.

From the figures of donations by corporate bodies and private individuals, the FG should've received in excess of N20b. Please note that the NNPC together with its JV partners donated $30m (N12b).

Such a joke of a country!

See, they tell us no money, but they live large, no money but their kids fly private Jets, both presidential. They attend schools abroad, yet no money. Cost of oil reduces by 70% but we get less than 10% reduction in fuel price and we accept that, Infact we should be grateful to bbqmans "darling" daddy for being generous to us undeserving Nigerians.
Yet they keep buying lambos, Ferrari, rolls, Jets, yet we should understand that there is no money.
The reality is that "there's no money". Yes, there are huge potentials for the country to make a lot of money, but the country has been do badly governed for far too long that it is on life support.

Now let's have a bit of perspective. Our 2019 budget was slightly above $20b (for a population of 200m). South Africa, on the other hand, had a budget of over $100b (for a population of less than 50m). Obviously, you can see how abysmal the budget per capita for Nigeria is. I have deliberately refused to make any comparisons with other advanced western countries...lol.

The reason why it looks like Nigeria has money is the fact that a very miniscule population of the society (public officials) arrogate most of the already little national revenue to themselves...thereby leaving the rest of the society to live in inhuman conditions. So, when we see their opulence, we erroneously think that the country is rich.

My point is that, even without corruption, our current revenue is too small to make any meaningful development. Trust me, the country has been so underdeveloped over the years that $500b will only scratch the surface of trying to make us look like a sane society. Education, health care, power, transport, everything is in comatose state.

I'm not sure the message you're trying to communicate. The article you posted was from 2014, though still applicable in the current circumstances. The govt has reduced the pump price. That's not the issue. It is how far they should've gone with the reduction.

That's agreed but crude has gone from a high of $70 to $22 which is almost a 70% decrease. Right now, everyone is cutting costs and the refineries should not be different whether imported or not.
Fair point. It's always been my candid view, though, that govt should completely hands off trying to determine prices of petroleum products (and power as well). Prices should be driven by competitive market forces.

The current model of price fixing and subsidies is not sustainable. Apart from the fact that it encourages corruption, the major drawback is that it discourages private sector investments. We should just adopt the telecoms model for POWER and PETROLEUM PRODUCTS.

A lot of folks saying price should be much lower due to the dramatic crash in crude oil prices.

Unfortunately, crude oil accounts for only around 50% of refining cost. Other costs such as personnel, administrative, shipping, insurance, taxes, etc are still either constant or gone higher.

It's important to keep that in mind when forming our expectations on what the ideal fuel pump price should be.

During the 2017/2018 Flu season, over 400 Americans contacted the flu. The CDC website reports that there was over 56,000 deaths in US alone resulting from the flu.

According to the WHO website, over 508,000 people died from malaria in 2018 globally.

Also according to the WHO website, over 35,000 people died from accidents in Nigeria alone in 2018. Also, the official WHO website reports that there was an estimated 56,000 maternal mortality in Nigeria alone in 2015.

Fast forward to 2020, there are only 2 deaths resulting from Corona Virus in Nigeria and less than 10,000 deaths globally.

---
There's something queer about the media hysteria concerning the Corona Virus. There are far more deaths from other causes (even hunger) that does not attract anywhere near the same kind of media coverage.

If you have a thing for conspiracy theories, you might want to watch the video below. Note that the video is about 45mins long and over 130mb.

The elites are comfortable because we are not fighting back but they can’t shut us all up if we have the numbers. Let’s come together and fight for ourselves, not for Nigeria but ourselves. It doesn’t matter if you love Nigeria or not, it doesn’t matter if you want to associate with Nigeria or not. All that matters is fighting for your lives now, protect your future and that of your loved ones.

Look around you this people don’t care and things will get worse overtime. All our elites are useless, regardless of their region. They are just all one stupid occultist groups that really listen to one another, they fight in public but protect each other’s interest, the only time they fight against each other is when it’s personal and never for you people. Nairaland is for Nigerians and right here is where we can start a revolution. We must stand against our oppressors except of course we love being oppressed.

Politics / Re: COVID-19: Ahmad Lawan Urges Buhari To Provide Relief For Poor Nigerians by Bevista: 4:47pm On Mar 26, 2020
The 3 major sources of govt revenue are Oil, FIRS, Customs (ports). The Corona Virus pandemic has since caused a significant drop in oil prices. Most factories around the world have closed down, so we will not be getting as much imports as we usually do. If a total lock down is implemented, businesses will suffer resulting in less taxes paid. In all, we're in for difficult times, as govt revenue is expected to take a big hit.

Regardless of the above, govt can make sacrifices in other areas to free up funds to provide cash relief for Nigerians (as suggested by the Senate president). But unfortunately, this is Nigeria where govts are never known to place a high premium on citizens' welfare. Do not be surprised to hear some state govts either delay or reduce salaries on the grounds of revenue shortfall.
