SportsLionel Messi Bags Jail Term by bidex(op): 5:22pm On Jul 06, 2016
Argentina and Barcelona footballer Lionel Messi has been sentenced to
21 months in prison for tax fraud.
His father, Jorge Messi, was also given a jail term for defrauding
Spain of €4.1m (£3.5m; $4.5m) between 2007 and 2009.
They also face millions of euros in fines for using tax havens in Belize
and Uruguay to conceal earnings from image rights.
However, neither man is expected to serve time in jail.
Under the Spanish system, prison terms of under two years can be served under probation.
The footballer and his father were found guilty of three counts of tax
fraud in Wednesday's ruling by the court in Barcelona.
As well as the jail terms, Messi was fined about €2m and his father
€1.5m. They made a voluntary €5m "corrective payment", equal to the
alleged unpaid tax plus interest, in
August 2013.
The sentence can be appealed against via the Spanish supreme court.

Nairaland GeneralMy Open Letter To Seun Osewa by bidex(op): 11:39am On Jul 04, 2016
Dear Seun,

Nairaland to my best knowledge is meant to be home for all and relevancies, it is meant to be a place where we can get news updates and socialise. I could remember Nairaland started almost same year with FACEBOOK. I could remember when it got started back in the day where posts were properly moderated, giving relevant posts front page while irrelevant take back pages.
But these days, I see irrelevant posts being given approval for front pages, posts such as one person stepping out in pink dress, white shorts, boobs exposure etc. how is that relevant to us here? how is it contributing to our day to day activities?
Furthermore, I realised that there is some kind of favouritisms' in this place by your moderators and admins.
please find something to do to this issue. its really really bad.

At the moment, the traffic gridlock at Akinola in Ile Ife along Lagos Ibadan expressway is far turning to a big mess.

Amiloaded gathered that motorists and commuters are finding it hard to meander through the gridlock.

The total gridlock is caused by the presence of a very large hole along the road axis.

Heavy duty trucks are held along the express way traffic due to an uneasy passage through the hole.

Pleading to the government to do something about it. cry

This is not Lagos Ibadan Express way na! this is Ife-Ibadan Express Way. I know this very spot very well. The gridlock on that road is usually on that Akinola market day.
Lagos Ibadan Express way is still better than this.
Nairaland GeneralNigerian City Of Lagos Shuts 'noisy' Churches And Mosques by bidex(op): 2:01pm On Jul 01, 2016
Authorities in Nigeria's Lagos State have shut 70 churches and 20 mosques in an attempt to reduce high noise levels.

About 10 hotels, pubs and club houses were also closed, officials said.

Some estimates put Lagos' population at around 20 million, creating a constant background of noise - from the blaring of car horns, to the Muslim call to prayer and loud singing in churches.

The state government has vowed to make the city, the biggest in Africa, noise-free by 2020.

Africa Live: More on this and other news stories

In August, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LEPA) closed 22 premises after residents complained about noise emanating from them.

Following the latest crackdown, its general manager Bola Shabi said the agency would no longer allow people to pray in makeshift buildings and tents.

Christian evangelist TB Joshua has a huge following in Lagos

Mr Shabi said noise levels had been reduced by about 35%, but this was not a "pass mark yet".

"Enforcement is a continuous exercise and we have set a target for ourselves. We want to ensure that Lagos is noise-free by the year 2020," he said.

Mr Shabi said mosques complied with their instructions more than churches because when they are ordered to shut down, they "instantly bring down their speakers or reduce the noise they make''.

Nigerians are extremely religious, with a large number of evangelical churches operating in Lagos.

Christians form the majority in the city.

In 2014, 116 people died when a building owned by popular televangelist TB Joshua collapsed in Lagos.

''According to the manner of purification of the Jews''. Does it not sound tradition to you bro? Every thing about the verse says traditional marriage. But then, you still have every right to disagree with me.
.....
But the bible did not say the purification is part of the wedding, also, it was talking about the empty pots and what it was used for. It can be however used before the wedding.
