I want to use this occasion to commend personnel for their tireless contribution in the sustenance of peace and security across the Country and I urge all to remain professionally focused to this end.

2. The achievements recorded by the NA in the various activities conducted in last few months is worthy of mention. These activities include the successful conduct of Op DEEP PUNCH II, Ex AYEM AKPATUMA (Ex CAT RACE) Op LAST HOLD which is ongoing and the hosting of the African Land Forces Summit in Abuja to mention but few. Furthermore, we have effectively tackled the Boko Haram Insurgency. However, in the areas of kidnapping, cattle rustling in the North Central and North Western Regions; we are re-strategizing to decisively deal with the situation. These feats no doubt are calls for officers and soldiers to redouble our efforts in the collective discharge of our constitutional roles. In the pursuit of this, I charge you all to maintain disciplined, be committed, dedicated, resilient and courageous in the discharge of your duties.

3. May I at this point reiterate my total commitment towards achieving my vision for the NA. It is my desire to transform the NA into a more potent and professional responsive force that will effectively curtail contemporary security challenges. To this end, I want to reassure you all that issues bothering on training and welfare will continue to receive my utmost attention. We shall continue to do our best to ensure the wellbeing of our officers and soldiers as well as their families.

4. Finally, on this great occasion, I want to on behalf of officers and soldiers of the NA reaffirm our unalloyed loyalty to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The NA will continue to remain apolitical while ensuring the sustenance of democracy.

NAF GRADUATES ADDITIONAL REGIMENT PERSONNEL TO BOOST ITS COUNTERINSURGENCY OPERATIONS

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has graduated another batch of Regiment personnel trained by the British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT) at the Regiment Training Centre (RTC), Kaduna. The combined graduation ceremony, which took place yesterday, 13 June 2018 witnessed the graduation of hundreds of additional Regiment personnel, comprising officers and airmen/airwomen, who had completed various specialized courses namely Basic Regiment Officers’ Course, Advanced Regiment Airmen’s Course and Basic Regiment Airmen/Airwomen’s Course. Also graduated along the Regiment personnel were nearly 200 personnel of Air Police and Air Intelligence Specialties. With the graduation, the NAF’s combat readiness to meet the asymmetric and dynamic security challenges confronting the country would be further boosted.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Guest of Honour, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, disclosed that the NAF would continue to develop requisite capabilities to match its roles, whether conventional or asymmetric. The CAS further stated that the NAF would continue to build a highly sustainable and functional air force that would be highly responsive and decisive to have depth, flexibility and capability to operate either alone or in conjunction with surface forces. According to him, the NAF would also continue to conduct a wide range of operations, from humanitarian assistance and peace enforcement to counterinsurgency operations, in furtherance of national security and development objectives. Air Marshal Abubakar disclosed that the NAF was focused on reinvigorating capabilities that had declined, developing new capabilities for the changing security environment and adapting processes to reflect the broader range of security requirements aimed at generating combat forces to secure own bases against all forms of hostile elements.

On the training package, the CAS revealed that since November 2015, the NAF had commenced a 5-year training collaboration with the BMATT, aimed at training NAF Regiment personnel on Force Protection in Complex Air and Ground Environments (FP-CAGE). Of recent, the Air Provost and Intelligence Specialties were incorporated into the course for better synergy in force protection and appropriate delineation of responsibilities for complementary roles in the Base Defence Architecture. The CAS observed that the training, which holds at RTC twice a year, had resulted in the training of well over one thousand personnel. He therefore commended personnel of BMATT for their dedication, hard work and commitment to the FP-CAGE training package at the RTC. While congratulating the graduands for their commitment, self-discipline and determination throughout the course, the CAS urged them to imbibe the attributes of the military profession, which include absolute loyalty, discipline, honesty, intelligence, physical fitness, motivation, accountability, judgment, decisiveness, teamwork and courage among other values. He therefore implored them to put all that they had learnt while on the course to maximum use to safeguard lives and properties within their areas of responsibilities. “You must not allow yourself to be used by disgruntled elements in the society and you must also submit yourselves to the civil authority and protect our democracy,” he said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commandant RTC, Group Captain Isaac Subi, stated that RTC had restructured its curriculum for more effective and efficient training to meet the ever changing complexities of military operations either during war or in peace time. He also disclosed that the training module included practical demonstrations, film shows and field exercises covering wide range of counterterrorism drills, commando fighting tactics, airfield defence, force protection and close quarter battle in an environment of uncertainty. The Commandant thanked the CAS for his support and for trusting the Centre to actualize his desire to build requisite capacity for the NAF.

The graduation ceremony was preceded by a field demonstration of some of the skills acquired by the graduands while on the course. The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of awards to graduands that distinguished themselves during the course. Two female personnel, Aircraftwomen Adejimi TB and Depriye BK, were among the awardees that performed excellently during the course.

Cameroon security forces torturing English speakers, Amnesty says


(CNN) — Cameroon is in the grip of spiraling violence that has seen security forces and armed separatists torture and attack people in the country's English speaking region, a new report by Amnesty International has said.
The human rights group says it has spoken to more than 150 victims and eyewitnesses to gather evidence of escalating violence in the northwest and southwest region of the country.

ARMY NEUTRALIZES 23 BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS, RECOVER WEAPONS

1. Troops of 153 Task Force Battalion in conjunction with elements of Cameroonian Defence Forces while on clearance operation on 11 June 2018, encountered Boko Haram terrorists.

2. 23 of the terrorists were neutralized and several others wounded during the encounter.

3. Items recovered include:

a. Six AK 47 rifles.

b. Two FN rifles.

c. Eight AK 47 rifle magazines.

d. 33 rounds of 7.62 mm NATO ammunition

e. One link of 7.62mm NATO.

f. Two motorcycles.

4. Also, troops had earlier cleared numerous villages in the Lake Chad region including Bulakeisa, Tumbuma Babba, Abbaganaram and Dan Baure, among others.

5. The public is advised to report any suspicious activities or movements to the law enforcement agents at all times.

GOC URGES TROOPS TO REMAIN STEADFAST

1. Troops of operation LAFIYA DOLE have been urged to be committed and steadfast during the final onslaught against Boko Haram terrorists .

2. The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Major General Stevenson Olabanji gave the advice while addressing troops at Gubio and Damasak respectively.

3. He stated that the end has come for the terrorists in northern Borno state, adding that operation LAST HOLD was designed to end the activities of the insurgents in the enclaves and islands of Lake Chad region.

4. He further advised the troops to be courageous and discipline during the final assault on the insurgents' enclaves.

5. Similarly, the GOC also visited the 2 Division Task Force Brigade of Operation LAST HOLD in Zarre where he was received by the Commander, Brigadier General Aliyu Abdullahi.

NIGERIAN ARMY ORGANISES MEDICAL OUTREACH FOR BORNO AND YOBE COMMUNITIES

1. Troops of 27 Task Force Brigade Buni Yadi Yobe State, recently organised a medical outreach for communities in Borno and Yobe States.

2. Some of the beneficiaries are from mostly communities devastated by the Boko Haram insurgents.

3. Speaking on the exercise, the Emir of Potiskum, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram commended the Nigerian Army for organising such exercise. He added that the exercise will further strengthen the already existing cordial relationship between it and his people.

4. Also, the Chairman Yunusari Local Government Area, Yerima Lawan applauded the Army for the exercise.

5. He recalled how the Army medical team saved the communities from poliomyelitis in 2015.

6. It would be recalled that communities that benefitted from the medical outreach include: Buratai, Kamuya, Bam Buratai, Kamuya Kuffi in Biu Local Government Area of Borno state.

7. Similarly, Buni Yadi, Buni Gari, Gashua, Azare, Katarko in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State benefited from the exercise.

8. The beneficiaries were treated of malaria, typhoid, cholera, diarrhoea, diabetes, among others.

The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu has decorated the Regimental Sergeant Major of 7 Division, Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Jurist Adam, with his new rank badge of Army Warrant Officer (AWO). The newly decorated AWO is among beneficiaries of 2017 Nigerian Army AWO promotion board held in Ibadan.

2. In his remarks at the event which took place at the Headquarters of the Division in Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri Borno State, the GOC described promotion as a reward for hardwork, loyalty and dedication to service as well as the nation.

3. He congratulated the Regimental Sergeant Major for reaching the peak of his career even as he urged him to impact military experience he gained over the years to the younger generation.

4. Born to the family of Gaie Jurist of Ngwaafari, Jamaa Local Government Area of Kaduna state. He attended Ngwafari primary school and Kagoro Teachers College before his enlistement into the Nigerian Army on 16 Jan 1984 as a member of 17 Recruit Regular intake.

5. He attended many courses among which are Drill course, Counter Terrorism course , RSM course among others.

6. In the course of his military career, the AWO has participated in various military campaigns both in and outside Nigerian. Among them are United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNAMIL), Operation Messa, Operation Harmony IV and Operation Lafiya Dole.

7. In his vote of thanks , the RSM thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai for considering him to the highest rank in the soldiers cadre of the Nigerian Army and assured to justify the rank by adding more efforts to his duties.

8. He also thanked the GOC for providing the needed leadership to troops of 7 Division.

9. Dignitaries that graced the occasion include the commander 57 Signals Brigade Brigadier General Olusegun Adeshina, the Chief of Staff 7 Division Brigadier General AA Eyitayo, formations and unit Commanders and Principal Officers of the Division.

It is very difficult to encounter terrorists who show fire discipline unless they get trained by the best - SSG ( both active and retired members) and that's how those who encounter them know what they were up against.

The training of terrorists across the border is divided into 3 parts

1. Daura e saufa - call it religious motivation or brainwashing , this module provides them. Goes on for 21 to 25 days so that they r totally determined to meet their 72 Shem*** in hell.

2. Daura e aam - initial training in firearms , IEDs , hit and run tactics , setting up ambush , reconnaissance , urban warfare, communication / GPS etc etc. This goes on for 21 to 25 days

3. Daura e khaas - This is basically an advanced combat training module patterned after SF type training and tactics. Daura e khaas camps r more or less similar to SSG training facilities, the terrorists r almost as proficient as their SF soldier except that the trained terrorists morale is much higher and therefore they r ready to die like a fidayeen ( Kamikaze mode ) This training goes on for 90 days

After finishing all 3 successful they can claim to become one of the few elite terrorists in the world but nevertheless will one day end up 6 feet below the ground courtesy IA .
