waywardpikin: The next day, the same thing that happened in 1964 happened again. Hajia called me to join her during SAED lectures. As we spent the boring afternoon together, Sarah called asking where I was as she was just coming out of the hostel. She made her way to where we were and sat down quietly at my side. I got the feeling that the two ladies didn't like themselves very much. What followed was another juggling act as I maintained separate conversations with both of them. Then Sarah stood up and said she was going under the other canopy, which she did. She hadn't spent up to 5 minutes alone, I found myself seated right next to her like there was this magnetic attraction. Needless to say, I'd left Hajia all by herself but not before coming up with a dumb reason to leave. It was becoming more apparent to me that Sarah had a very strong hold on me, and it made me scared. What were we doing? What was I doing?
My mind strayed back to Nife's WhatsApp message last night:
'Hello, longest time.'
I remember how I read the message without replying. I remember how I woke up that morning feeling like a piece of shít for the amazing night I'd had with Cassandra the night before, feeling like I'd cheated on Sarah. I was walking around with this shroud of guilt like I'd committed this unforgivable sin. After the SAED programmes she dragged me to where the photographers were to check for our photos. I paid for the photos and uploaded one as my dp on WhatsApp. Next thing I received was a message from Hajia and the following conversation ensued:
Hajia: Wow you're just making me feel...
Me: Making you feel how?
Hajia: Hmm, I should not have opened this your dp. It's making me feel somehow now.
Me: You don't have to feel that way. You know that's how most of these NYSC guys feel about you but you're just breaking their hearts anyhow.
Hajia: Please stop saying that. I want to ask you a question.
Me: What's that?
Hajia: Am I too small to date?
Me: Why would you say that now? Any man would be lucky to have you.
Hajia: But I'm too small for you to date abi?
Me: It's not like that. Remember you told me you have a boyfriend. I'm just trying not to break a relationship dear.
Hajia: No wahala sha, just take care of yourself. Enjoy yourself with her.
I was still thinking about what to reply when I caught Sarah peering over my shoulder trying to see what I was doing. I put my phone away.
'What are you doing? Who are you chatting with?' She said.
'Nothing. No one.'
She looked at me with a mischievous glint in her eyes, 'Don't lie to me. You're chatting with her right? Your love.'
I rolled my eyes. Since the day Sarah first laid eyes on Hajia she always regarded her as my one true love, always looking for any opportunity to bring her name up.
'You've started again abi? She's not my one true love.'
'Hmm you want to deny her abi?'
'Oh really? What about Brother Paul? Someone that you wanted to use to replace me. I hadn't even gone for up to 5 minutes and you had another brother auditioning for my role.'
Who was Brother Paul? Brother Paul was one unfortunate fellow that was trying to put the moves on my Sarah. That fateful evening I was only gone for a very short while and before I came back this dude was trying to get upclose and personal using church as an avenue to enter the dame. Seriously though, guys in camp no dey see woman comot eye. They will jump on her and devour her like a hungry lion. And by God, Sarah looked so delicious.
'Come on, I told you Brother Paul is just a worker in church. He was inviting me for service.'
'Oshey... when did we enter camp that he became a worker in their church? Such is life sha, people replace you even while you're still alive,' I said.
'You ehn,' She playfully hit me on my back and I wanted to tap her on the ass in response but sometimes one has to pretend to be a gentleman. She wrapped her arm around mine as we walked to the parade ground, it was her favorite place to sit and enjoy the cool breeze particularly in the evening. My heart rate increased a little with the body contact, and a little voice inside my head began screaming:
'Tell her how you really feel you îmbecíle. Go ahead and tell her... don't be a pússy!'
The truth is at this point many people sort of assumed that Sarah and I were dating. We spent all day together, the chemistry between us was palpable, and we looked like a match made in heaven, so how could we not be dating?
I didn't know. But what I knew for sure was that I didn't want to destroy the good thing we had going on. Sarah was so beautiful, I found it hard to believe she was single. As a matter of fact, since the day that I met her my mind had been telling me something that my brain simply refused to compute. A nagging feeling. A suspicion...
As we approached the canopy and made to sit down I caught a glimpse of Cassandra and her friends chatting excitedly in the distance. I looked away very quickly, certain that Cassandra had seen me too. I hadn't called or texted her since last night. And as a gentleman, it is only right to call or text a lady or have some kind of 'Talk' after the 'do' or 'almost-do' otherwise said lady might start to feel very bad about herself.
Sarah was showing me her phone, swiping as she said something, but my mind was far away in that moment. What was she saying sef? Something about a daughter?
'Sorry I didn't hear you. What did you say?' I asked, my ears red, twitching.
'I said these are pictures of my daughter. She's 7 years old,' she told me excitedly.
Daughter? 7 years old?
'I don't understand. Are you married?'
'Yes I am.'
The way I looked at her, if looks could kill, she would have died.

Forgive me for my sins.
Most Expensive Universities in Nigeria 2017/2018 1. Nigerian Turkish Nile University, Abuja. The Turkish Nile as she is popularly called is definitely the most expensive accredited University in Nigeria with her Medicine and Surgery students paying a whopping sum of 5.75 Million Naira as tuition fees per session excluding hostel and other charges. As a student in the Turkish Nile, you’ll pay nothing less than 1.7 Million Naira as tuition fee. Although as a student in many other faculties including Engineering, your ‘tuition’ fee is pegged at 2.3 Million Naira. Are you aspiring to go to this school, then you should have “30 billion for the account o”. If you need further details about Turkish Nile University tuition/school fees, click here. 2. Baze University, Abuja She is definitely the second on the Official list of most expensive universities in Nigeria. If you are a student of Baze University, Abuja, then you’ll be paying tuition fee, nothing less than 2 Million Naira a session. For full details of Baze University’s school fees, click here . 3. American University of Nigeria, Yola AUN is definitely one of the top three most expensive universities in Nigeria Atiku Abubakar(Founder) would definitely be making a whole lot of money from her. If you must be a student of AUN, then your parents must be ready to part with 1.59 Million Naira every year. This amount is for the only tuition. It does not include the extra 1.3 Million Naira you would be paying for extra charges. Extra charges include hostel, feeding, transport, etc. However, the question is: Do you have this money!!! 4.Pan Atlantic University, Lekki 5.Igbinedion University, Okada 6.Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti. 7. Covenant University 8.Adeleke University 9.Babcock University 10. Bowen University
