Since you've not even started your NYSC, I would suggest that you plan towards the next application round (because even if -which is highly unlikely - you're awarded the scholarship this year with pending NYSC, your discharge certificate won't be ready in time for September/October resumption), however, you could still apply to get yourself familiar with the whole process, especially the exams.

Is the exam a sort of "Aptitude test" ?

I agree with you (on the regrets of attending a public university). I'll be making the greatest mistake if I send my kids to a public University or perhaps any university (public or private) in the country. Although private universities in Nigeria are a lesser evil

True. But could you mention a post where I generalised? University isn't wine, wherein it's a thing of the older the better. I respect a few Private universities that are making huge strides in tertiary education in Nigeria. It would be a lie to assert that "ALL" public universities are living in past glory.

By that ranking Covenant University has only 9953 citations, Unilorin has 17,832 citations, UI has 21,455 citations while UNN has 26,736... This publication are not in local journals but in Journals of international repute which is indexed in Google Scholar.

You can say whatever you like, but the records are there, public universities might be faced with a lot of challenges but they are still making strides.

But the records are clear in the recently released webometrics on research output cum citations. Why do you people like denying statistics especially when it's not in your favour?
UNN has a much higher research presence on Google Scholar and research gate than your so called "private" university.

Just see this; it's not the VC that rated it; check where covenant is (on the webometric report of Dec 2017) and how many citations they have which is a result of the quality of research and check UNN. Then you make your comment.

Non-academic staff are the laziest civil servants in the country. They sit in offices and gossip all day and still want fat allowances, out of their laziness students are frustrated due to missing results and missing files. Yet they are fighting for such humongous allowance — N66bn. Anyways, at least academic activities can go on without them. Bunch of lazy people!
