Blueelf: This is very insensitive of you Sir.
Only the Living can actually become Army Officers. If someone is concerned about security, it is a valid concern.
Even when you'll do road match during your training, you'll be provided with escorts. Why? For security reasons. Banditry and kidnapping seems like a joke until it happens to you or someone from your family. I don't pray it happens to you (don't get me wrong). These same bandits were not afraid to exchange gunfire with sentries at Command and staff college Jaji..can you imagine? The issues of security especially in Kaduna are not to be trifled with Sir.
I am for changing the venue to the South west or south east or even Port Harcourt. Security first Sir. Not saying these areas are 100% safe but their security is better than what is obtainable in Kaduna. Mind you, I'm a DSSC applicant but still I feel for those that have to travel to Kaduna for SSC screening.
No offense bro. This isn't to cause quarrel but if we call ourselves brothers and sisters here, we must be empathetic to one another's plight. Sikowitz, this write up is for you as well. Your comments about people staying back in their houses if they won't travel is equally insensitive... You're like an elder here. Please act like one.
Anybody comes at me with insult will be duly ignored. So y'all behave your respective ages... Very well said. I've observed most people here just pay lip service to being comerades. But deep down in their hearts, anything to bring down or deter the next person to improve their chances is all they want. This is a very toxic trait. |

SFCommander2: anyone who feels that he/she is uncomfortable with the screening holding at KD should kindly step aside at this juncture. We are too many sef and the competition is too tough. Or better still, make una kukuma follow flight come. Shikena. You probably live in Kaduna, and you probably won't have problem going to the screening venue. Your comment is quite insensitive to people who would have to travel down to Kaduna. The recent news of kidnapping and banditry is no joke, couple with the fact that the screening would be in December. So people should be scared. So for you, they should NOT come for screening to better your own chances? What if you don't even make the shortlist? Ever thought of that? |

This is not it. This is not it, we're derailing.
Anyway, I just came here to apologise to anyone whom my comments may have come across as insulting... It wasn't my intention, just a slight misunderstanding.
I read this thread from page 1 to the current page, and it was worth it. And the information here is encyclopedic for anyone looking at joining the Nigerian army. It would be unfair to derail this thread to the point of closure.
Personally, I won't be continuing with the process for reasons beyond my control. So this is me wishing those with a genuine interest and passion the very best, I see you and I'm rooting for you.
Please let's restore normalcy here ASAP. Once again, my apologies to you all.

I have read your comments on how you claim you're are willing to change things when you get in there and how incoming personnel should have that mindset since in the next 30+ years you all will be the ones running things. I very much doubt that , not with this mindset you all carry believing the army can do no wrong and because one is applying, he should keep quiet and not condemn the excesses of the army. Same army that'll scream "fake news" on a post and go on to admit it when push comes to shove. I wish you well, I hope you all become the officers you've all always dreamed of. |

eclipsehemmy: since you can't tag me let me tag you. English is easy to understand. Very easy. If you actually read the comments above and my comments on criticising and still begging to join then I don't know.
Secondly I schooled in ibadan and anybody that stays in ibadan knows they have something called operation Burst which comprises of soldiers ,police and civil defense backed by the state government and their sole job is actually to do this rubbish. Asin that's what the government does. As a student in ibadan then there were hairstyles you couldn't carry it they cut your hair except operation Burst doesn't see you. The system (state government) gave this order and those officers are only enforcing it. I'm sure seyi makinde will/should have stopped such things. Just know Ajimobi knew what operation burst was doing and backed it completely and openly. Ask ibadan people. That doesn't mean the act is good or being defended but get to know the root of things before passing hasty emotional judgements Clearly you're the one passing emotional judgements, I didn't even mention you, I made a generic statement, a lot of people here have been defending the excesses of the army, but you chose to be spokesman to quote me. Did you watch the Twitter video? Is that man an army personnel or not? What justification is there to harass people based on their dressing when there's no official dress code in the constitution. You're still here defending rubbish, talking about English is easy to understand. |

Somebody here is angry that some people are criticizing the army for some of their actions yet are begging to join the army.
So because someone wants to join the army, they should support the atrocities being committed by the army?
On a related note, I just saw a video on Twitter of a Nigeria army personnel flogging a lady in Peere, Ibadan on account of "indecent dressing" and I'm disappointed.
The bar of the Nigerian army is below the Mariana trench. |

ugo4u: Since it's jamb that will be conducting the exams I think the test will be well structured and standardised. Jamb was the body that conducted NCS's test, anybody that sat for that exams will agree that it was a solid test even tougher than that of NNPC. I'm not trying to scare anyone, I'm just stating facts so that those that will be lucky to take the test will be armed to weather whatever they'll be throwing at us that day. I suspect Jamb may follow the NCS format or at worst may even step the exams a bit higher for army. The subjects for NCS test were;
English Language Mathematics Current Affairs Diagrammatic/Logical Reasoning Quantitative Reasoning ICT
There were 100 solid questions to be tackled in an hour (1 hour) without calculator or any electronic device not even your mobile phone.
Inference 1) Never waste time on any question as you have less than 40secs to tackle each question. 2) Once you log in Maths/Quantitative Reasoning will be the first questions to confront, my advice is to go straight and tackle the ones you can at first glance or if possible skip the maths/logical reasoning questions because trust me those guys know what they are doing as they'll use those to slow you down. Move on to simpler subjects like current affairs and blaze through it with lightning speed in other to gather enough time to channel to the tougher subjects like maths and logical reasoning. 3) Even the English that usually is bonus wasn't funny at all because most of the questions were GMAT style and answers requires the inductive and deductive reasoning of the individual tackling them. Though there were questions on Spellings and Synonyms but believe you me no be normal nearest in meaning these guys set.
Lastly, never leave any question unanswered once you're down to the last minute of your alloted time just do tininitanana and fill up everything you might be lucky to score hits in one or two. If the Nigerian army follows this method of Pre-screening, follows it strictly and maintain it for 10 years. We would have a transformed DSSC/SSC commission. Not to mention, people will fail woefully and you'll attract the best minds. Ironically, this may not be the case, because people that may fail will end up being commissionsed. |
