Again, we have no choice but to blame ourselves for some of these problems; but we must also know that if you label yourself as a goat you will surely be treated as such. Wake up, guys! |
So, because "Nigeria does not have functioning international airports without wildlife grazing all over the fields or airlines to shuttle Nigerians in and out of Nigeria" Nigerian citizens (the customers) should be mistreated by foreign airlines? The way we think, only God can help us! You can only be treated the way you see yourself and the manner you've used to present yourself! |
Privatization will give a decent and logical meaning to our dream. |
@bawomolo: Correction: That was Muyiwa (Stella's only child) getting married to a Spanish chick (she is clean). Gbenga ex wife was the one with the issues; her picture is not posted on this thread. |
Bravo goes to Yaradua; this is a nice move. But on twisted mode, I think we have ourselves to blame. |
Big deal, she won by few points! This woman will not get my vote if she forces herself in and wins the primary election. She can not be trusted with anything. |
I'm sorry about that! FYI: I'm very open and willing to learn; could you please identify how to correctly refer to the Pope? |
I still think when it comes to peace, we should never give up. We must continue to pray for peace and unity, work together as one regardless of our belief or faith, respect each other and allow God to do the rest. Peace and unity forever! |
1. First, I do not know much about the purpose or the importance of having a Pope2. I thought accepting the invitation would have been the greatest opportunity to sincerely, publicly and physically endorse peace and unity for all mankindMcKren: Let me simplify these statements for you: Statement#1: This is an honest statement, I truly do not understand the importance and I will gladly appreciate an intelligent lesson to educate me. FYI: This doesn't mean that I do not recognize the position of Pope as a divine entity. Statement#2: I truly think that a unique or unprecedented action of a divine entity could effectively change the world to a better place for all. This is how I honestly feel, and if it is a sin, I pray to God to forgive me. McKren; you should know better, I'm not stupid and do not deceive. |
You can not turn crazy just because your neighbours are crazy; there must be a bigger man somewhere! |
And by the way you can not suggest that there is no need having a Pope at all and yet somehow put the resolution of a troubled world at his door steps , you simply can't have it both ways mate.Where did you get your info from? because it is totally opposite what I've stated. Of course, Pope is an exceptional divine entity and I will be stupid not to recognize this fact. Instead of picking and choosing my word, why not settle down and try to understand where I'm coming from? This is absolutely not a fight, guys, but a discussion on how to quickly discover peace through out the world! |
@1luvkipsus: You're a good man, and I still love you with all my heart! |
I think the pertinent question is why we have the M'uslim American Society when we can't have a similar Christian Saudi Arabian Society or even merely build a church in Saudi Arabia.@4 Play: Very good point! The current problem facing the world is mostly between the Mu slims and Christians (not Hindus and Buddhists); and I think this conflict could be resolved if folks are willing to work together. Peace is a priceless gift that can not be implemented by just you and I; it might take divine entities like Pope to spread the word effectively. Yes, it is not an easy task, but how long are we willing to live like this? Again, much love and respect to the Pope. |
It is clear to me that you're totally lost and I truly do not expect your diminutive sagacity to apprehend the root of this topic. My question for you: When are you finally going to find the basket? Bloody lost ball! |
First, I do not know much about the purpose or the importance of having a Pope, but I still respect the Christians who sincerely admire the Pope and I also adore the man himself for all the inconceivable things he stands for or promotes. He's definitely one of a kind. The pope was just recently in United States, in fact he left couple of days ago. During his visit, he visited various spots and as usual his positive and Godly impact was felt tremendously everywhere. The following spots are some of the places he visited during his trip to United States: 1. White House (to say whatz up to Bush) 2. DC Area (I think he visited a stadium for religion mass) 3. Ground zero ( to pay respect to the victims of 911) 4. Synagogue (to give much love and respect to the Jews) 5. Sexually abused victims (to apologize and motivate these folks) 6. A church in NY city (for a religion mass) 7. Yankee stadium (for a final religion mass) He absolutely did his thing as usual without any questions, but he did not accept or acknowledge the invitation of the Mu slim society in United States. I thought as a divine entity, one should see all equally regardless of the skin color, class, belief, politics or state of mind. So, what happened? Moreover, Pope in the past has also delivered many speeches in which he clearly promoted peace and unity. I thought accepting the invitation would have been the greatest opportunity to sincerely, publicly and physically endorse peace and unity for all mankind. I thought it would have been very effectively, extremely magnificent and also touched many lives if he had spared few minutes to meet with this group of people. I believe in action much more than mere speech; and I truly believe that acknowledging the invitation by pope would have embraced peace in general and brought a new dimension to the way folks see things and treat one another in regard to religion and faith. It is never a good feeling to be ignored, afterall God created all! The benefit of meeting with couple of Mu slim professors and students (in a well controlled environment) by the Pope would have brought enormous peace and relief to this world. I may also be wrong without any doubt, but it is written that you'll miss 100% of all shots that you do not take. Again, much love and respect to the Pope. May God bless the earth with an everlasting love and peace! What do you think? |
Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello has nothing to fear under this government The fall of General Olusegun Obasanjo from grace to disgrace is one of the greatest mysteries of life. For eight solid years, this incredibly lucky man played God as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It was a sad irony that a man who was vehemently opposed to an Abiola Presidency would emerge as the greatest beneficiary of his supreme sacrifice. Nigerians in their wisdom, or foolishness, had reasoned that the death of Abiola in prison had to be compensated, and assuaged, by allowing a fellow Yoruba, and a man from the same Egba tribe, to take his place. Members of the Military Mafia, who had aborted the best election ever held in Nigeria, could not find a better candidate than Obasanjo. They practically begged Obasanjo to accept the job. Unknown to them, the farmer had his own agenda. The tell-tale signs appeared as soon as he was sworn in on May 29, 1999. The man simply refused to acknowledge the great sacrifice made by some Nigerians, especially Chief Abiola whose mandate had been cruelly murdered by members of the privilegentsia. Obasanjo had arrogated to himself the wisdom of Solomon, and it seemed he had answers to all problems. For the first four years, he employed Maradonic tactics to stay afloat in power. He even gave the impression that the man in charge was his Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Abubakar himself had openly nursed the ambition of succeeding his boss, and even attempted a civilian coup by attempting to stop the second term bid of General Olusegun Obasanjo. From that moment on, Obasanjo went berserk, and lost focus completely. He turned governance into an art of war, and vengeance. It was around this time that the war against corruption became the Gospel according to Saint Matthew Obasanjo. He fired bullets in all directions, not minding who was hit. The more we looked, the more it seemed the anti-corruption crusade was designed to harass, intimidate, and frustrate the opponents of the third term bid, and in particular the supporters, and would-be sponsors, of the Presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar. The friends of Obasanjo, and members of his family, were never touched by the dreaded operatives of the anti-corruption crusade. The usual refrain was that there was no evidence linking the First Family to corruption, when indeed they swam in it. It is such a big shame that the rabid apostles of the anti-corruption czar at the time are yet to ask the pertinent question, where was he when all the ugly revelations now jumping out were being perpetrated by a man who sermonized like the Pope. Is it not obvious that the war was a monumental fraud which was never designed to succeed in truth, and in reality. What was in operation was indeed a reversed psychology: shout on the roof tops that others are thieves when indeed you are the hardened criminal. As if that was not bad enough, he nursed a hidden ambition of changing the Constitution of Nigeria, which would have made it possible for him to rule Nigeria for a record third term, plus the three years he had spent as Military Head of State. Obasanjo and his acolytes went on rampage, and flooded the city of Abuja with bags and bags, and bullion upon bullion vans, of money, which were distributed to legislators who were ready to sell Nigeria to the highest bidder. Yet Obasanjo publicly denied ever nursing the ambition of a third term, when it was pretty apparent that he desperately craved it. This was another major fraud on its own because only God knows how much was wasted on this terrible misadventure. The lie was told with a bold face that was so unrepentant about the possible turmoil, and conflagration, that the daring bid could have thrown up in our already over-heated polity. Once the bid failed, the next thing to do for Obasanjo was to start shopping for figure heads, one of whom was expected to take over from him, and protect his dirty deals while in power. He succeeded in selling dummies to so many ambitious policicians who saw themselves as natural successors to the combustive President. They included Ahmed Markafi, Abdullahi Adamu, Peter Odili, Adamu Muazu, Donald Duke (a young, charming and dashing politician who had shown so much hope and promise and style as Governor of Cross River State), Nasir El Rufai who was well advertised as an Obasanjo acolyte, and several others like Ibrahim Babangida, Aliyu Gusau, and Buba Marwa. There were others who nurtured the dream of being the President of Nigeria. In this category were Mohammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar. Obasanjo did not waste time in hounding some of them with security operatives. Odili. For example was forced to forgo his ambition when he was reminded that EFCC was hovering in the wings to pounce on him for alleged corruption. The man swallowed his pride and gave up his ambition, after working so hard. He also hoped for the post of Vice President but at the last minute, that hope also evaporated. Ibrahim Babangida had raw pepper rubbed on his face when his dear son, The Great Prophet was arrested by EFCC, and promptly locked up until an impeccable guarantee was received from his dad that he was no longer interested in ruling Nigeria. EFCC is yet to tell the Nigerian public the outcome of their investigations. Another potential candidate, The Great Prophet Buba Marwa was kicked around until he also dumped his ambition. As for Atiku Abubakar, an indictment was cooked for him, and he was kept completely busy, and distracted from his mission. In the middle of this, an interesting umpire, Maurice Iwu, was brought in to supervise the elections. He was clearly his master’s voice as he swallowed every nonsense given him by Obasanjo and his troublesome disciples. And bizarre interpretations were given to our laws by Iwu and his band of chorus singers. Obasanjo himself assumed the role of the father of the nation. Suddenly we began to hear tales of a special arrangement that would throw up a very perfect candidate for Obasanjo. The man turned out to be Umaru Musa Yar’Dua. The joker seemed perfect as it was bound to dilute the influence of Atiku Abubakar within the Yar’Adua political family. According to insiders, Obasanjo called on a few rich Governors to bankroll the campaigns of Yar’Adua, without thinking of the source of their wealth. The funds poured in, and Obasanjo left his job in Abuja to travel everywhere to campaign for his hand-picked candidate. Everything seemed all wrapped up, and as expected Yar’Adua won the election with a very comfortable lead. The whole world screamed blue murder at the less than transparent way the election was conducted. Against all protests, Obasanjo went ahead to arrange the swearing-in ceremony for his anointed man, while the grumblers were allowed their days in the law courts. And they are still very busy till today. But the main news is that against all forecast, things are falling apart within the ruling party. If Obasanjo thought he was going to be protected by his handpicked successor, he apparently miscalculated. Even the EFCC which he used in the past to terrorize his opponents has now turned the heat against him and his family, in a twist of fate. It is the way the cookie crumbles. He has so far treated the anti-corruption agency with utter contempt, and disdain, thus giving the impression that he’s above the law of the land. My thesis is that even if he’s allowed to get away with it, the shroud has been lifted from the dead, and the masquerade is now being paraded naked in the market place. His utter hypocrisy has been exposed, and he may never have the chance to sermonize to us like he used to do with such impudence in the past. He would no longer be able to sit in judgment over fellow sinners. I was shocked to read the lamentations of Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello who’s now accusing EFCC of harassing her life. Where was she when The Great Prophet Abacha was put behind bars on allegations of corruption? Where was she when Abba Abacha was arrested abroad for the money allegedly stolen by his family? Where was she when democratically-elected Governors were impeached in the middle of the night by some hand-picked legislators who acted under apparent duress? Where was she when The Great Prophet Babangida was arrested and detained, apparently to discourage his father from joining the Presidential race? Where was Iyabo when her father’s best friend, Otunba Johnson Fashawe was handcuffed like a common felon, ostensibly to punish him for being too close to Atiku Abubakar? Where was she when Dr Mike Adenuga was chased out of town on trumped up charges after her father had publicly collected N250 Million for his so-called Presidential library from the same man? Where was she when Ishaya Bamaiyi was permanently kept behind bars, without a conviction for the eight years that her father ruled Nigeria? Where was she when her father and his goons ruined so many family businesses for no justifiable reasons other than a meanness of the worst kind? Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello has nothing to fear under this government. All she has to do is keep her appointment with EFCC and Nigerians will defend her if they believe she’s being unnecessarily maligned and harassed. This cannot be the best of times of times for General Obasanjo. His case is like that of a striker who dribbled the ball into his own net. He may continue to pretend that all is well with him and his household, and that he’s not bothered about the spate of terrible allegations against his public and private conduct. Fine. But he should remember how monkeys are captured in Brazil. According to James Hadley Chase, a nut is put in a bottle, and the bottle is tied to a tree. The monkey comes and puts its paw inside the bottle to grab the nut. But the neck of the bottle is too narrow for the monkey to withdraw its paw and the nut. You’ll think the monkey would let go of the nut, but it is too greedy, it never does, and it gets caught! Such is the case of Obasanjo who’s yet to see the handwriting on the wall, and is holding tight to the post of Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, when commonsense dictates that he should show some remorse, and plead for mercy, from the almighty, who’s the only One capable of forgiving all transgressions http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=109095 |
Iyabo Obasanjo is at large - EFCC The EFCC told a court that the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Dr. Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, was at large. An official of the EFCC said this during the arraignment of a former Minister of Health, Prof. Adenike Grange, and ex-Minister of State for Health, Mr. Gabriel Aduku, in connection with the N300m scam in the Federal Ministry of Health. There were 56 charges in the charge sheet, two of which were not read in the open court as they were in respect of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Mrs. Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello. Mrs. Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello was also not listed among the suspects. The senate has also asked Senator Obasanjo-Bello to explain the circumstances surrounding her involvement of the committee on heath which she headed in the sharing of the N300 million unspent vote of the ministry of Health in the 2007 budget. The Senate Committee had admitted receiving N10 million-support from the Ministry of Health to fund a retreat in Ghana on the National Health Bill. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Information said the Senate had demanded explanation from Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello and other members of the Committee that attended the Ghana retreat. He said “When the Senate gets the explanation, I shall come back to brief you. We will also take the necessary steps. But I can assure you that from what we have so far when it is has not been unusual for Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) to facilitate the work of committees that oversee them.” “When they sent that money, they never told them that it was from an illegal source, that it was the money that the Presidency told them to return but they did not return." "The information we have so far (from the Committee is) that the source of that money was not disclosed to them at the time it was remitted to them and we are trying to take care of that by making sure we provide adequately for all the committees in the 2008 budget." “When they tell you that the budget of the National assembly is up a bit beyond what it was last year, there is an explanation for that; we want to make sure that every committee that has an assignment to do will have no reason to say we could not do the work because we were waiting for facilitation because we would have provided enough resources”, http://ngex.com/news/public/newsinfo.php?nid=6194 |
OBJ stepped on many toes and betrayed many people during his time (you just don't bit or mistreat the hands that feed you). The muzic is now on, the dancing competition is about to start; it is time for OBJ and his rapacious sloppy cronies to dance to the same muzic they've spent many years composing. |
Clinton Strategist Penn Resigns From Campaign NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Mark Penn, the Clinton campaign's chief strategist, has resigned from that role following a conflict of interest stirred up by work he's done at the PR firm where he is CEO. It was reported late last week that Mr. Penn, who has rubbed many Clinton loyalists the wrong way from the start of the campaign, recently had met with Colombia's ambassador to the U.S. to discuss an effort to get congressional approval of a bilateral free-trade agreement, a major hot-button issue in this campaign. Hillary Clinton opposes the agreement. Mr. Penn conducted the meeting in his capacity as CEO of WPP Group's Burson-Marsteller, which lobbies on the matter on behalf of the country here in the U.S. Related Story: Mark Penn Gets Run Over on the Way to the White House Clinton Strategist's Prestige Diminished as Campaign Loses Momentum After initially offering no comment on the meeting, Mr. Penn eventually called it an error, which sparked a swift reaction from Burson's client. The Colombian government issued a statement saying it was terminating its contract and that Mr. Penn's characterization of the meeting was "unacceptable." The airing of this conflict of interest is the latest in a series of missteps for the campaign that have helped squander Ms. Clinton's status as the presumptive winner of the nomination. The campaign has struggled to nail the right message to woo voters and maintain a consistent brand. 'This is unprecedented' Mr. Penn's decision to sacrifice one client relationship to save face in another has left some in the PR industry baffled. Speaking on background, one executive from a top-10 agency told Ad Age this morning that Mr. Penn's actions might cause concern from other clients. "It's going to enrage some clients and certainly baffle the rest," the executive said. "I'm not sure I've ever seen a CEO throw a client so publicly under the bus for no other reason than that it conflicts with his other job. This is unprecedented." A spokesman for the agency declined to comment. The conflicts between Burson's client list and Ms. Clinton's stance on a number of issues have been well-documented since the campaign began. In Ad Age interviews with a number of high-ranking executives in the PR industry who did not want to be named, weeks before the news broke of Mr. Penn's meeting with the Colombian ambassador, the sentiment was strong that something like this eventually would happen. Why not take leave? One executive from a Washington-based agency wondered why Mr. Penn hadn't simply stepped down from his position at Burson while running the campaign to avoid these types of conflicts. "Hillary's positions on so many things are going to run contrary to Burson's clients' interest," the executive said. "The fact is, on pharma, nuclear energy, labor issues and a whole list of shit, Mark, who is the Burson representation, has been at odds with Hillary's positions. And I just never understood -- and still can't to this day understand: Why create a controversy for your client?" In an interview before the Colombia issue blew up, Democratic strategist Bob Shrum rather prophetically said Mr. Penn's and Ms. Clinton's interests would have been best served if he had devoted his time solely to the campaign. "You just create a lot of static and problems," he said. "In 2000 and 2004, Mike Donlon, Ted Devine and I gave up all of our stock and left Glover Park while doing the presidential races. I'm not saying we are holier than thou, but people can make their own decisions, like Mr. Penn. I'm not going to criticize his choice, [but] at times [Ms. Clinton] has paid a price for it." http://adage.com/article?article_id=126213 |
Hillary Clinton's List of Lies Admitted Lies: • Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. (She was in bed watching it on TV.) • Hillary was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. (She admitted she was wrong. He climbed Mt. Everest five years after her birth.) • She was under sniper fire in Bosnia. (A girl presented her with flowers at the foot of the ramp.) • She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the futures market. (It didn't cover the market back then.) Lies She Won't Confess To: • She didn't know about the FALN pardons. • She didn't know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that Clinton granted. • Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error. • She didn't know that her staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so. • She didn't know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost $700,000 more than she reported it had. • She opposed NAFTA at the time. • She was instrumental in the Irish peace process. • She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda. • She played a role in the '90s economic recovery. • The billing records showed up on their own. • She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke. • She was always a Yankees fan. • She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons). • She negotiated for the release of refugees in Macedonia (who were released the day before she got there). With a record like this, could you blame anyone from calling the Clintons bunch of dishonest shady lowlife? |
Yes, it is true that $10 million out of the Clintons $109 million went to their charities; now the question is: who are the folks making donations to these charities? I will appreciate an answer. |
John Mcain for years had alway bask on the hero bridge to cross every water because he was captured in a war an tortured. Loads of tuff, since when has been captured in a war make you a hero? I can't remember the likes of Alexander the great being capture in a war and came back as heros. He is too old and clueless, his economic plans are a bit like micky mouse piggy bank. The man was captured because he didn't understand the functionality of millitary map! |

What seems to be the problem especially the Americanised Nigerian-BigB1? The Clintons can make billions if care but they made the money through the effetiive use of their talents, privilege and legitimate means and paid taxes for it, unlike your leaders back home that packs 911 lorries at central bank and load the dollars to SwitzerlandMy man, that was absolutely unnecessary. You could have made your point clear without stepping on people's toes. You need to be very careful; abusiveness will not be allowed. |
john McCain is more honest. he said the truth that he does not know much about how economy works. that is Honesty. when the republicans were busy hitting hard at immigration during the primaries, McCain reminded them that those so called illegal immigrants are God's children too. Love. He told black people that he voted against MLK's holiday in 1983 and asked for forgiveness(also telling them he supported the holiday in Arizona later) Humility@toshmann: My man, I was with you until you started giving all these unnecessary kudos to McCain. FYI: McCain is an extention of Bush. It is extremely scary when a presidential candidate publicly admits that "he does not know much about how economy works". As a presidential candidate, admitting to such thing represents absolute illogicality; No disrespect, but I guess, it is true that 70s is the age when ridiculousness kicks in. The best he (McCain) could do is learn how it works, just don't come here telling Americans that you do not know how to do your job, and still claiming that you're the best candidate for the position. This is absolutely crazy! @toshmann: How would you feel if a pilot tells you that he doesn't know much about how the airplane cockpit control works; will you still be willing to fly on his plane? Come on now! I honestly think the man (McCain) should go home in peace and spend more quality time with his great grand children. |
We are still in tax season and I do not see any reason why anyone should be penalized for waiting to the last couple of days to release their tax information. Could it not be that they just wanted to make sure that they settled all their accounts with the IRS before releasing it??May be this is the right moment to declare that Hillary Clinton is not just anyone; she is the wife of the former president of United States, and she is also a presidential candidate. Folks like this usually do whatever it takes to release any information that may create any unnecessary obstacles or controversies. If there isn't any shady businesses, it isn't a big deal for a presidential candidate to immediately release his or her tax returns. FYI:These folks have the best of the best accountants working for them 24/7; hence, it is very much possible to get this information out on time if they want it out "Wanting to make sure that they settle all their accounts with IRS before releasing it" is nothing, but a despicable and simple excuse. |
By the way, Good Lucky of Nigeria (Nigerian VP) also took forever to release his mighty assets; I guess he was also waiting for the holiday season to come to an end to settle all the accounts before publicly releasing it. I swear to God, some folks are just purely deficient in judgement; they prefer to be bamboozled. |
the clintons are a bunch of cheats. they claim to be poor and that they fight fot the poor. yet they are richer than the republicans. why the pretence. so much for transparency.Right on point! Once again, everything the Clintons do is strategic and full of tricks for the fools. It took them forever to reveal their tax returns info; and it is amusing to me that they released this info only because they know that it is no longer matter (Hillary will not and can not win the primary election). It is also incredible that she is no longer targeting Obama any more, it's now all about attacking the republican. I guess, they've realized that the end of the road is near and it is now time to restore the old magnificent name "the Clintons" the poor people's president. The Clintons understand the rules and they know how to milk the system to the max. Yes, the 109 Million dollars may be legally made by the Clintons, but the message these folks were sending to America was absolutely opposite to their bank account; and they know this fact too. This is the main reason why it took them many months to release the figures. Trust me, the party is over and I predict that very soon the Clintons will start dancing and pulling for Obama, just to regain the lost love of Black folks in America. What a bunch of dishonest shady lowlife! |
My man, just stay cool for now; the figures just came out few hours ago. Let's see what happens in the next few days. FYI: Your girl friend, Hillary Clinton is already dancing every where defending the figures. I wonder why! |
United States is now starting to turn into little Nigeria small small; may God bless America! ![]() |
Bill Clinton Earned $15.4 Million From Burkle Firm April 5 (Bloomberg) -- Former President Bill Clinton has earned $15.4 million from billionaire Ron Burkle's Yucaipa Cos. investment firm since 2003, according to tax documents released by his wife, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. The earnings represent 20 percent of the approximately $75 million Bill Clinton earned during the same period, according to the documents. That may raise new questions about what services he performed for Los Angeles-based Yucaipa, whose investors include the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al- Maktoum. Tax lawyers said the Yucaipa partnership income for Bill Clinton looks to be a form of salary because it was in round numbers for most years. ``Most people who make that much money work for it,'' said Yale University tax law professor Michael Graetz, a former Treasury Department official in President George H.W. Bush's administration. ``What are they being paid for, and if it's the Sheikh of Dubai paying the husband of somebody who might be the next president of the United States, what do they think they're paying for?'' Jay Carson, a spokesman for New York Senator Clinton, said in an e-mailed statement that former President Clinton is a partner in a Yucaipa fund and ``provides his best advice on potential investments, advocates generally on behalf of the funds, and seeks to create opportunities for investors to consider investing in the fund.'' Carson didn't respond to a question about whether Bill Clinton did any work for Dubai. In 2006 Senator Clinton opposed efforts by a Dubai-based company to acquire control over six U.S. ports. Tax Returns The payments from Yucaipa to Bill Clinton were detailed in seven years of tax returns released by Hillary Clinton, 60, following pressure to disclose them from rival Barack Obama, the Illinois senator who made public his own returns in March. The returns covered tax years 2000 through 2006. Hillary Clinton's campaign also released information about the couple's 2007 income, although they haven't yet filed a return for that year. Obama has yet to release information on his 2007 income. The former president, 61, received $1 million from Yucaipa in 2003, $4 million in 2004 and $5 million in 2005. In 2006, he received a guaranteed payment of $2.5 million plus a $156,611 share of the profits. The campaign said he earned $2.75 million from partnership income in 2007. Amounts `Odd' ``The flat amounts received from Yucaipa are odd,'' said Tom Ochsenschlager, vice president of taxation at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, who agreed that it signaled Bill Clinton was performing a service. ``That's quite unusual.'' Previously, Hillary Clinton reported only that the former president earned ``more than $1,000'' a year from Yucaipa on financial disclosure forms she is required to file in the Senate. In all, the Clintons earned $109 million from 2000 through 2007 and paid $33.8 million in federal taxes, the returns and campaign documents show. They donated $10.3 million of their income over that time to charities. The bulk of those charitable donations went to the family foundation. From 2002 through 2006, $5.9 million of the $6.4 million, or 93 percent, of the Clinton's charitable giving went directly to the William J. Clinton Foundation, according to the tax returns and the foundation's 990 forms. The 990s for 2000 and 2001 were not immediately available and it has not yet filed for 2007. Cayman Islands Funds The tax returns indicate the couple paid all the U.S. federal taxes owed on the income from Yucaipa, which controls three funds located in the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands doesn't charge any individual or corporate income tax and has strict bank secrecy laws. Bill Clinton's ties to Yucaipa have sparked controversy over the past year, including a September report in the Wall Street Journal that detailed how one of the former president's aides had helped arrange a partnership with Burkle that dissolved amid litigation over allegations of misused funds. Yucaipa spokesman Frank Quintero didn't return calls seeking comment about what services Bill Clinton performed for the company. Forbes Magazine listed Burkle, 55, as the 91st richest American last year, with a net worth of $3.5 billion.
